Unless it’s all a joke and I somehow missed sarcasm in text:
Cut the crap about alliances there is not a single alliance in place between BT and either VZ or Deso.

I wear my Nugos tag proudly and it warms my heart to see the video of Ikariel scaring off a Deso siege team by himself. So far I’ve been impressed with the amount of coordination IRON has. I have only run into their zergs while their zerg was bigger but they did wipe us every time within the first 30 seconds of fighting. But what most impressed me was actually doing tactical movement with a zerg, letting a small group fight in the front and the rest would circle and hit us from the back. Props.

I am however not impressed with the personal skills of Desolation players. I have killed 3-4 people “guarding” Doly’s because they are running around the Doly putting skills on CD for no reason or simply sucking outside of zergs. The first day is over, those supply camps and Doly’s are your direct life line, better take awesome care of those puppies.
Said it before aswell, RUIN hasn’t impressed me at all. If what they say is true and they have been pulling insane shifts to keep Desolation in T1 I will let it slide but I haven’t found a single RUIN player willing to fight for anything except in a zerg. 2 RUINS running a Doly see me coming and run away.. Free doly!

Anyway, so far it’s a lot of fun and everyone has a goal in mind. Can’t wait till the dust from the weekend/reset settles and the real tactics come into play. Cause lets face it, the first 2/3 days after reset are a boring zergfest.

Advice to an SPvP player.

s/tPvP is definately a completely different beast compared to WvW. s/tPvP is as close to balanced as possible with the open gear system (not taking into account possible imbalance in classes).
WvW is not balanced at all (low levels being boosted, outmanned, zergs are favored etc etc etc).

If you are looking for a balanced PvP environment on a large scale in WvW you are in the wrong place.

I would suggest leveling your toon to lvl 30 or so and start running in zergs to gain as many levels as fast as humanly possible. Once you hit level 80 you will still have to grind to get the gear you want to suit your playstyle.

You are doing something wrong, i’ve got less kills and 750 badges.. And why do you want to deny your enemy his badges? I mean he killed you, he won, he earned them.

I’m going to say this out loud, you sir are full of it. I have 6000+ kills and only racked up around 1200-1300 badges. And that is even with me being quite lucky with badge drops according to many guildies. I tend to get 1 badge every 6 (or so) kills. I might have lost some badges along the way because of zerging or dying but never anything drastic.

As for OP, yes there currently is a trend of simply ALT-F4’ing when you get to downed state. It happens in 1v1’s a lot now that it’s common knowledge and it’s really hard to see if it happens in zerg vs zerg because you know, more often than not you cannot even see the opposing zerg.
However I average out about 1 badges per 6 kills
Yesterday I managed to rack up 80-ish badges so I thought they upped the droprate but as my kills showed I also had an insane amount of kills (thanks for turtling when there are 6 arrow carts raining arrows on you).

ANet have stated that WvW was never meant to be balanced. Asking for WvW balance will not change that.

The only way any kind of WvW balance will take place is when servers adapt to the latest trend of “ownage” incorporated by other servers. You roll with the punches or you lose.

Badge Farm Prices?

Stop comparing WvW badge armor to PvE karma armor. WvW isn’t PvE easy as that.

If there should be any complaining about WvW badge armor is that I would like to see more sets with different stats. I am not going to use a Power/Tough/Vit set.

Why does everyone want everything to be easy? Work hard for it and you might actually enjoy the fact that when you have it you feel like you achieved something.

I have farmed atleast 1000 badges in a month of WvW. I’m still farming and don’t mind it at all, I don’t even want the set though…

I’m not so sure. I believe those guilds will probably soon proclaim how good they are and how much more smart they are, for jumping in before others did, to a winning fully packed and 24h coverage server to reach T1 asap. Its pretty common among WvWvW.

Btw, this match up looks like both germans server kind of gave up, but i hope they recover soon enough.

That’s cute. Nugos/GF/ZD/DZs were the biggest and most feared presence on FSP mostly because of coordination and never giving up. We never gave ourselves that title, it was given to us by other servers. Nugos had come to realize that the last week we were on FSP that there was little to no activity from the other people on the server in WvW which meant that a lot of people would feel like they are carrying the server. FSP hit an all time low during that last week where during prime time we would have outmanned buff on all maps (yes including EB).

We were informed that Blacktide was in need of more presence during prime time so after a long debate we decided to go there. If we were in it for T1 we would have gone to Desolation and face the wrath of insane queues and an even more lopsided WvWvW effort in EU. Right now we feel that Blacktide has a proper presence across 24 hours (we still have some gaps though, especially in the morning around 10 GMT+1).

Remove Orange Swords and Other Propositions

Deleting orange swords, while a nice idea to try and make zergs split up, will not work. Already pretty much every proper server leaves a scout at tower and a small force at a keep. This isn’t new. We (Nugos) always leave a scout that will inform us on movement, we don’t need the orange sword because we know whats going on anyway.

Siege weapons should not have an AoE cap (which arrow carts don’t have right now). Simple. Turtling is kitten and can already be countered easily by just putting up a gazillion arrow carts. Yesterday we managed to hold a tower vs a 50-60 people turtle with 5 arrow carts, 1 ballista and 2 cata’s behind the door. See the result on the screenshot.

All in all the main guy is extremely annoying.

Those were the two major ideas. Most of the other ideas said on the show are seriously stupid.

Merging of servers won’t happen within the first 6 months of a game launch. Atleast I doubt it will. The server transfers are still free, they don’t force anything yet. They haven’t even made an official statement about the current state WvW is in due to the free transfers.

They will merge servers like a year down the line, when people have settled in and they realize this is as good as it gets as it comes to us players trying to create balance.

IF there is any kind of alliance between ER and River, they really are bad at being allies :P. They have been attacking each other all day yesterday. Both Elona and River came out in BIG numbers on Riverside BL around 16:00 GMT+1 and once the first tower fell they started outright destroying the Blacktide grip on that map (and others too but I wasn’t there so don’t know how that went down).

Ofcourse it feels like Elona and River are working together but that’s only because we (blacktide) own 90% of the map when they start logging in.. Which means attacking each other would be really freakishly weird and not at all effective.

Anyway I love the German mentality and you guys have insane numbers at certain points during the day. And nothing is more scary than big numbers AND organization. Props to you!

Honestly I don’t want to leave this match up next week but it looks like we will be replacing Arborstone in T1 at which point I honestly think T2 is going to be the most fun! Arborstone, Elona Reach and (according to the points right now) Miller’s Sound. FR/DE/DE. I don’t know much about Miller’s Sound but if they bring the amount of epic fighting during the daytime T2 is going to be amazing.

Blocking camp capture while stealth

You can’t perma stealth AND do damage. And even if you only do Cnd you are still visible for a short time in which you can easily get tagged. This isn’t an issue anymore on servers where people know what they are doing and what they are dealing with.

Who needs stealth if you have 15 thieves?

Here’s the idea, have all thieves spec in either full glass cannon mode or switch in a couple of valkyrie to add some HP. All thieves should use Signet of Malice and atleast Shadow Step.

Create a rotation of Dagger Storm, #1 Thief Shadow Step in, Dagger Storm while the rest either spams SB or Dancing Dagger, when #1 Thief’s Dagger Storm is done Shadow Return and make #2 Shadow Step in with his Dagger Storm while the rest still spams Dancing Dagger/SB. When #2 is done Shadow Step out, #3 goes. Rinse repeat untill #15 at which time the CD of Dagger Storm of #1 should be done.

I know what you’re thinking, that’s stupid. You should just let 5/6 Thieves go in at once all pop Dagger Storm and whenever most enemies are in down state let another 5/6 Thieves pop in and finish them off with Dagger Storm. While an amazing burst you are still thoroughly screwed if another zerg pops in after that.

I honestly don’t think there is a proper way to stop a group of 15 Thieves doing Dagger Storm after each other. However coordinating this is a proper pain in the kitten

Is there any proof to this “RUIN” having a bad name? It would be hilarious to read that they are actually guild hopping baddies looking for an easy win.

Anyway by the looks of it Blacktide will be in T1 and it has gotten a bunch of reinforcements from other EU servers to create as much of a 24 hour force as possible (if I’m correct we should be sitting at a full force over a 19-20 hour period). If RUIN really is as bad at losing as they are supposed to be according to Aysnvaust they will jump ship from Desolation fast enough I guess.

Thief capping objectives while invisible: intended?

How is this even an issue anymore? I stopped being able to do this weeks ago.

Stack up, lay down SOME AoE and just wait for the thief to die or come out of stealth and burst him down.
If by some weird event you are unable to kill a single thief going in and out of stealth with 20 or more people you should probably rethink your strategy…

EDIT: Anyone crying for stealth nerfs should just stop playing this game.

Or let’s make Mesmers be able to do even less but still lol their way around your corpse!
I get it now, let’s give D/D ele’s more combo finishers they can set up by themselves to give buffs/cure conditions/heal etc.

First of: Thieves need a single change, pre-casting CnD before steal should not be possible. Please fix this to create some extra reaction time (about 2 seconds extra) instead of the 0,5s you have now.

The sheer incompetence of players complaining about backstab thieves after all the nerfs so far is too kitten high.

A backstab thief is a one trick pony, high risk/high reward. If you fail (which really does happen vs a proper player) you are as good as dead. 100b Warriors are exactly the same. If I run into a 100b warrior (I have 14k hp with a berserker/valkyrie build) and my stunbreaker is up I know I will win that fight because after dodging/breaking his stun/100b its over for him/her.

People are starting to become insanely stupid with requesting not to die to a glass cannon one trick pony build when they themselves are a glass cannon build.. I.e. I don’t do 5k steals (hell I don’t even have Mug), don’t do 5k CnD’s and don’t do 8k backstabs. However I still burn down a glass cannon Ele/100b warr/ranger in a matter of seconds BECAUSE IT’S A GLASS CANNON BUILD.

I hope ANet is more sensible and won’t listen to people crying about stuff that can be countered. Glass cannon = High risk/high reward = The thief wins or dies miserably after blowing through 2 CD’s and sometimes even an elite.
If ANet listens to the casual crying playerbase I will promise that we will be back here in a month with glass cannon builds crying about how condition thieves are OP because they die to it and can’t do anything about it cause all their skills are built for pure DPS and not a single survivability skill is on their bars.

I will never complain about 100b warriors doing 14k on me because my stunbreaker wasn’t up and my evade was late. You don’t hear me complain about being Moa’d and burst down in seconds by a full glass cannon Mesmer. You work with it, spec for it and try to make sure you learn to recognize builds so you can avoid the problems in the future.

4 ballistas, 3 arrow carts and a cata is a lot now? I wish I would have taken a screenshot of what some guild do to keep their claimed keep safe. Atleast 2 ballistas, a metric ton of arrow carts and 3 cata’s behind gate.

Anyway I usually just do a single mount/attack and leave whenever I pass through a keep. I roam a lot and it takes only a couple of seconds.

Even IF there are people with severe internet issues their presence probably is close to nothing compared to the idiotic amount of ALT-F4’s I’ve been seeing people do as of late.

I roam myself and unless all of these people have internet issues whenever they get to downed state, I say put some kind of punishment on it. I don’t really care about missing out on loot or the kill, I just think it’s insanely childish. Especially if the other server has no queue and within 2 minutes the person is back running around again.

There is a Elonah player (100b human warr) I have had the pleasure of running into 4 times in less than 30 minutes. Got him/her to downed state each time and he/she alt-f4’ed all 4 times. The worst thing was that he/she kept coming back and eventually even did /laugh and /dance from a distance. I simply did a /wave and went along but I realize some people can get really annoyed by it.

I might have had to define “Hardcore”. Hardcore how I use it is server pride etc. Not hardcore as in “Would do anything to win”.

In the case of language specific servers I can actually quite understand that hardcore DE player will group up on 1 server to create the best DE server there is. Because in your case it’s DEvsWvsW in my opinion.

I feel like I’m arguing with a wall but here goes. No I have never ran to a winning server. I started on Desolation and went to Far Shiverpeaks because I had friends from other MMO’s there.
I proposed changing the Transfers to once per 1/2/3 months. That would definately discourage bandwagonning.

NA/EU tags mean a LOT. I don’t know how you don’t seem to understand this. I would dare to say that atleast 90% of the people living in the EU chose for a EU server simply because it said EU. Same goes for NA. I don’t know what server you are on but you seem to be clueless to most of it.

Vizunah Square isn’t going to stay Nr1 for long due to the simple fact that they only have a nightforce that consists of FRENCH people. Desolation (currently in that matchup) has a rather big US presence as of 2 weeks because RUIN gaming transferred there with enough members to fill 5 guilds.

You are trying to use the HoD argument but are using it wrong. As I recall HoD got a horrible name due to excessive hacking/exploiting so people ran as far as they could from that server to make sure they didn’t end up with a bad rep.

If you can browse these forums, react and post with a mindset and arguments like you have you clearly are uninformed or simply trolling. WvW isn’t fine apart from a small number of servers the rest are slowly dying due to a lot of issues I mentioned.

Last month BETA access is all I took along because it really mattered and was fairly easy to get into. I don’t know why you are making such a big deal out of this unless you really just feel like arguing semantics.

IF Anet decided to make WvW a never ending continuous battle AND they decided to split up server groups in EU/NA than they should have kept EU WvW to EU players and NA WvW to NA players. They opened doors letting NA players go to EU WvW and vice versa which inevitably destroyed any kind of balance.
You cannot expect WvW to NOT be international if everyone is allowed to play everywhere, this isn’t rocket science.

Let’s start off by defining the current problem:
– Imbalance of servers because of Free Transfers
1)What’s the problem here? Bigger numbers and huge queues on high ranking servers? Lower numbers and smaller queues on low ranking servers. Competition that evens out except in a few borderline brackets? It’s fine.

– Bandwagonning (casual players transferring to winning servers on the drop of a dime)
2)Again, what’s the real problem here? They’re not causing any harm to the game, just filing up servers and leaving others alone.

– 24/7 WvW BUT timezone appointed servers (EU/NA)
3)All servers run on server time, which is set to Pacific. People play at different times of the day regardless of what time zone their in anyway. I’m hiding from a hurricane at some family’s house in Colorado as I type this at 4:AM.

– Seperate language servers (DE/ES/FR)
4)There’s 192 countries on the planet, with more languages than I can count. They can somehow mostly compete in the olympics, how can we not figure out how to point and click on the same pixels…

– Casual players outnumber Hardcore players
5)How exactly is this a problem, or will it be solved or changed, ever? Target audience = me, with my 60-80 hour a week job, and huge amount of expendable cash.

– NA players are reluctant to leave NA servers, EU players are reluctant to leave EU servers
6)I’m a natural New York player, playing on a EU server when Henge of Denravi gets too full for the holidays. I have no problem going to EU servers, and I know for a fact that I’ve met more people who at least claim to be non-US players on HoD than actual US players.

– Being almost 3 months down the line and no real solution was created by ANet OR by its players.
7)It’s been two months, two days, three hours, and eight minutes by my clock.

You are replying to my initial post with the complete wrong mindset.

1) ANet meant to make WvW an international competitive 24/7 game. It currently isn’t due to people who lose simply leave. Or most NA servers missing nighttime coverage and EU servers missing nighttime coverage, this all because of the NA/EU tags that made NA players go to NA and EU players go to EU. Competition isn’t evening out anything, the current system rewards being a coward and running to a winning server.

The current servers that currently DO have overseas nighttime coverage have gotten that coverage due to a big transfer which made matchups lopsided (check EU brackets history).

2) This is the worst reaction possible. Bandwagonning destroys competitive WvW. There is 0 fighting spirit and winning servers will die because of insane Queues. Bandwagonning due to free transfers is a BIG problem to WvW.

3) This is a combined problem due to ANet tagging servers with NA/EU. You seem to miss that point. EU players will not care about server time, they care about their own time. Same goes for NA.

4) Again you seem to miss the point. Creating DE/ES/FR servers created segregation that will completely destroy 24/7 competitive WvW play because most of the DE/ES/FR servers simply cannot create a 24/7 competitive crew. By now I feel you are completely clueless btw.

5) Casual players run from a fight and eagerly join the winning side if there is nothing holding them back (FREE TRANSFERS). Hardcore players stand their ground and fight for their server. This has nothing to do with your fancy job, I work 50-60 hours per week myself and still consider myself a hardcore player because I simply won’t drop my server when things go south.

6) You are a single person. EU servers have been trying for weeks to get NA guilds to come fill up timeslots and NA guilds have been trying for weeks to get EU guilds to fill up timeslots. Both have failed most of the time. It’s not strange for NA players to feel more at home on NA servers and EU players to feel more at home on EU servers. Take those tags away and we might actually become international and there won’t be any barriers keeping people from mingling.

7) Yes cause the beta doesn’t count and the week head start doesn’t count.

This might sound like I’m flaming you, but I feel you skimmed my post and went “LOL”. You are looking at my points from a completely wrong perspective. My perspective:
ANet created WvW to be a 24/7 worldwide war. BUT created barriers to prevent it from being international (EU/NA tags, language specific servers and so on).

Try to look at it from that angle.

None, there should be no reward whatsoever untill servers are evened out and free transferring is off the table.

As long as Free Transfers are up rewarding WvW wins will only create more lopsided battles, longer queues and insane bandwagonning.

I am going to create a seriously long post here which mostly is a copy/paste from a reply I did in another thread in the WvW section. Edited though.

I will propose a SERIOUSLY outrageous solution at the end of my post.

Let’s start off by defining the current problem:

– 24/7 WvW BUT timezone appointed servers (EU/NA)
– Seperate language servers (DE/ES/FR)
– Casual players outnumber Hardcore players
– NA players are reluctant to leave NA servers, EU players are reluctant to leave EU servers
– Being almost 3 months down the line and no real solution was created by ANet OR by its players

If you combine all of the above you get the following:
– Nightcapping makes guilds leave their timezone
– Some servers get a decent 24 hour force
– Other servers get crushed due to not having such a force
– Casual players want to win, so they leave for the winning servers or stop playing
– Insane population imbalance
– Other server will try to recruit other timezone forces however its hard to recruit if you have been losing people and matchups with a 200-300k difference.

There no longer is a proper solution for this problem.

Stop free transfers?
WvW will be stuck in its current state and die because of insane imbalance

Merge serverpools as they are right now?
You will still have the bandwagonning of casual players to winning servers creating massive queues and other servers becoming ghost towns.

Limited transfers (what we have now)?
Absolutely useless, the only thing it does is make the current guilds that are on losing servers decide to leave faster before they have to pay for a transfer.

Force English on Language specific servers?
It’s too late for that now.. Why create them in the first place considering if you wanted to make a worldwide competitive game? English is the “worldwide language" of choice make it that and let all the people that don’t speak it find eachother through forums. No-one is going to go to a fully DE server now if they don’t speak DE.. But DE WILL go to a EN server if they know there are a bunch of DE guilds on it. In the example above you can ofcourse exchange DE with ES/FR.

The only way ANet could have created a proper 24/7 wargame right of the bat is if they (in my opinion):
– Created one big serverpool (there would have been a bigger spread of nationalities and timezones to begin with and thus already deleting a big part of the “night/morningcapping” stuff..)
– ALL servers would be EN (non-EN would find eachother anyway)
– Limited transferring (like a max of 5 free transfers OR once per 1/2/3 months)

The following suggestion is bold and will really really really make the current winning servers angry, however I feel that they are a minority compared to the rest AND the simple fact that you (ANet) intended WvW as a worldwide competitive part of GW2, which in its current state it simply isn’t.
I’m not saying the “wait and see” approach which is used now won’t work in the long run (6-12 months from now) however I think you (ANet) will lose a huge amount of players if you let that happen. Which brings me to my current (rather outrageous) solution.

Outrageous solution as promised:

- Recreate WvW alltogether
– Tell players they will have to assign themselves to a new server in starting (let’s say) December 1st 2012.
– Create a single worldwide serverpool (no EU/NA tags, no language specific tags)
– Let people talk to eachother on forums and whatnot to try and create as much of a 24 hour force or atleast make an informed decision
– After the big switch transfers should be immediately limited to once per month or a fixed amount of free transfers, people had the chance to make an informed decision. Now live with it and make it work.

What I think/hope this will create is:
– PvE players on PvE servers with casual WvW
– PvP players on PvP server with competitive WvW
– WvW players on WvW players with hardcore WvW
– FINALLY ridding yourself (ANet) of this timezone issue
– FINALLY ridding yourself (ANet) of masses crying about night/morningcapping
– FINALLY ridding yourself (ANet) of bandwagonning and thus crying over queues

I KNOW this is a completely outrageous sollution to the issue, but in my opinion a complete table flip of the system is the only way to solve it. Creating a null point from which we restart everything as best as humanly possible.
People have played this game now and have seen how much fun it can be, now let them imagine how much fun it can be if they can recreate it by communication and forging alliances.

I also know that this needs further tweaking but this is my suggestion and how ever bold it may be I think it’s the right one.

WvW T1 will only be english-speaking servers

I disagree Centrix. If ANet would have thought this through a little more they would have realized that this would become an issue.

I will propose a SERIOUSLY outrageous sollution at the end of my post.

– Say WvW is a 24/7 game

– Other servers get crushed due to not having such a force
– Casual players want to win, so they leave for the winning servers or stop playing
– Insane population imbalance
– Other server will try to recruit other timezone forces however its hard to recruit if you have been losing people and matchups with a 200-300k difference.

There no longer is a proper solution for this problem.

Stop free transfers?
WvW will be stuck in its current state and die because of insane imbalance

Merge serverpools?
You will still have the bandwagonning of casual players to winning servers and the rest becoming ghost towns.

Limited transfers (what we have now)?
Absolutely useless, the only thing it does is make the current guilds that are on losing servers decide to leave faster before they have to pay for a transfer.

Force English on Language specific servers?
It’s too late for that now.. Why create them in the first place considering if you wanted to make a worldwide competitive game?! English is the “worldwide language of choice” make it that and let all the people that don’t speak it find eachother through forums. No-one is going to go to a fully DE server now if they don’t speak DE.. But DE WILL go to a EN server if they know there are a bunch of DE guilds on it. In the example above you can ofcourse exchange DE with ES/FR.
THIS ISN’T ROCKET SCIENCE ANET.

The only way ANet could have created a proper 24/7 wargame of WvW is if they:
– Created one big serverpool (there would have been a bigger spread of nationalities and timezones to begin with and thus already deleting a big part of the “night/morningcapping” stuff..)
– ALL servers would be EN (non-EN would find eachother anyway)
– Limited transferring (like a max of 5 free transfers OR once per 1/2/3 months)

Outrageous sollution as promised:

- Recreate WvW alltogether
– Tell players they will have to assign themselves to a new server in starting (let’s say) December 1st 2012.
– Create a single worldwide serverpool (no EU/NA tags, no language specific tags)
– Let people talk to eachother on forums and whatnot to try and create as much of a 24 hour force or atleast make an informed decision
– After the big switch transfers should be immediately limited to once per month or a fixed amount of free transfers, people had the chance to make an informed decision. Now live with it and make it work.

What I think/hope this will create is:
– PvE players on PvE servers with casual WvW
– PvP players on PvP server with competitive WvW
– WvW players on WvW players with hardcore WvW
– FINALLY ridding yourself (ANet) of this timezone issue
– FINALLY ridding yourself (ANet) of masses crying about night/morningcapping
– FINALLY ridding yourself (ANet) of bandwagonning and thus crying over queues

I KNOW this is a completely outrageous sollution to the issue, but in my opinion a complete table flip of the system is the only way to solve it. Creating a null point from which we restart everything as best as humanly possible.

First off:
Elonah Reach is the best server in this matchup
Blacktide has amazing morale and fighting spirit and I think that if we would clash head on with our mainforces we would have an amazing fight that is pretty equal.

I LOVE fighting you both but FSP seems to be on its way out, here’s my 2 cents:

Right now our server is in it’s 4th or 5th week of being completely crushed. Starting with VS gaining a nightpresence, we would do very good during the day, spend our gold and time on upgrades but wake up to a completely capped map. That didn’t bother the WvW guilds cause we realized that a Nr2 spot in T1 as a server with little to no nightpresence was quite good. However at this point you could already notice that casual players wouldn’t show up in WvW anymore, or atleast they showed up less often. Then we met Elonah who not only was a fierce opponent during the day but they managed to crush during the night aswell. Which in our third week of seeing our daytime efforts go to waste was quite the punch in the face. Again, the WvW guilds shrugged and went, we don’t have a nightforce let’s try to assemble one. All our efforts of getting a nightforce failed and the PUGs started getting smaller and smaller. Queues were only a thing during prime time and even then they weren’t long.

And here’s the finishing blow:
We met Desolation who had just gotten an influx of members in the form of RUIN. There we were, a server that had been beaten down 3 weeks in a row only to face a server of which we were dead certain all of our daytime efforts would be nullified due to us not having a nightpresence. Even the big WvW guilds were drained at this point. I have heard of 100-150+ member WvW guilds only having 10 players online during primetime..
Combine all of this with free transfers and here’s your recipe for a sinking ship and most of its crew abandoning it before they have to pay for a transfer.

Which brings us to week 5, our current week. Where I have to admit I had an amazing time in the weekend and on monday and I got my hopes up, but then reality struck when Blacktide capped everything and morale plummeted. We had a proper group of people running the maps in the weekend but after that first morningcap (not mad at you guys) they stopped showing up even during primetime.

I have already discussed this with several guildleaders on FSP and most seem to agree that right now FSP is in dire need of help or else this WvW ghost town will really turn into a PvE server or simply die altogether.

I will still log in fight as hard as I can in WvW and most important try to motivate others to keep going in WvW but I feel my efforts are wasted. By now FSP has absolutely no presence in the morning, a decent presence during primetime and no presence during the night. The problematic thing is that our primetime currently only consists of 4-5 hours which means the other 19-20 we are tremendously outnumbered or simply not there.

Everyone that says that you shouldn’t be able to clear multiple CC’s doesn’t know a thing about PvP. If you as a group are unable to kill a single guy because your kitten kitten and everyone is spamming all their cool stuff asap you shouldn’t be allowed to get the kill. Easy as that. Coordinate stuff, put on the first CC, make the opponent pop his CD, next CC, rinse, repeat. Don’t cry if you guys kitten your way through all your CD’s and make life easy for your opponent who doesn’t drool.

I’m just sick and tired of people complaining about simple mechanics in a game. GW2 has the potential to become a truly e-sport level competitive game (tPvP especially) but currently a lot of players will cry for nerfs and whatnot due to incompetence which I fear will ruin this game. They don’t want a player to be able to escape if a whole group blows all their CC CD’s on him/her and the opponent uses a skill that is working as intended to get away. They want an absolute garantuee that if 2 people run into 1 person, the 2 always win.

This isn’t news. Yes there’s a culling issue, yes ANet is aware and has already said they are making good progress on it.
However you not being able to hit your tab key is a fault of your own. I have played vs plenty of D/D Ele’s now and more often than not get my kitten handed to me as a thief (not a glass cannon btw) I go into stealth and while I am the Ele will just spam tab untill he finds me.
This isn’t rocketscience.

Well I sure as hell wasn’t proud of our (FSP) accomplishments during the day. It took us over 4 hours to take Ascension Bay (although it was fully upgraded and had full supply). I left the zerg at some point to make sure little to no doly’s got to AB but my god we were bad.

I must say though that FSP feels like a ghost town compared to 2 weeks ago (pre Desolation matchup). Either people are really busy with the Halloween stuff, people left our server or simply don’t go on WvW anymore. We still have a proper force during primetime but that’s a 4-5 hour coverage, vs Elonah and Blacktide that’s simply not enough.

To give an example, I logged in about 30 minutes ago and we were still at 75 points per tick… So either our morning force was horrible again or there simply aren’t enough people to cover the maps. If our current effort, be that outnumbered through most of the day or just terrible playing, continues we are going to go down to T3.

I don’t think us on FSP will be able to keep up with the Blacktide morning onslaught. Our weakness is that our primetime is contested and we will have to find a way to fill those gaps by finding a morning/night force.
So far however I like this matchup a lot.

EDIT: We were ahead 5-6k in points of Blacktide during the weekend and just got demolished mondaymorning. Blacktide had a 600 point lead per tick for atleast 6-7 hours. They have shown they are either willing to sacrifice sleep to win or simply have a good force in our off hours. Either way, they earned the win so far.

Let classes evolve, let builds evolve then worry about balance. You simply cannot create a balanced AND fun game right out of the gate especially with different possible builds involved with Skills/Traits/Gear all creating different possibilities.
- Diminishing Returns on CC Abilities

I play on Far Shiverpeaks and I agree with some of the stuff the OP says. 100g is hardly an issue for someone that only plays PvE. At some point those PvE’ers want to do WvW or you know, as on FSP, lead a full pug into the jumping puzzle…

I know, I know, we should tell the people following him not to follow him.. But most simply don’t listen. So when we asked him nicely if he would atleast take his Commander badge down while he was doing the jumping puzzles you would get some smart kitten remark a 10 year old would come up with.

The Commander title/badge should be one that is created through a democratic way. I dunno, maybe create some kind of voting system or whatever.. I hardly have any good ideas to solve the current issue but everything is better than having 5 commanders on a map, 3 of which are dicking around..

You actually get people to stay and fight you as a P/D thief.. My first build was P/D cond and people just ran after applying the first stack of conds… After which I would spend most of the time chasing them down and either running into a zerg/large group or a tower/keep… Awesome vids though!

Also for the person posting the Ele D/D video, Ele D/D is currently the hardest opponent I can run into. The only proper way for me to deal with it is to stay ranged 90% of the time but that seems impossible due to the gap closers. I don’t think they are OP but they are definately tough as nails if played correctly. Especially with the amount of self buffing and finishers.

Really, did a person say he only got 1 badge in a month of playing WvW? How is that even remotely possible?
I currently have over 750 badges and atleast 250 of those were gotten in this month alone. After some patch a while ago I also feel badges drop more often.

Wanting to understand Transfer Zergs

Most big guilds that transfer will say it is because they are looking for a server where they can fit a timeslot that allows them to create a server that has a 24h coverage, more or less. And even though that sounds like a proper reason, as of now it mostly means you will be playing PvDoor.

A good example of it are the EU servers, we have 3 servers with a reasonable night presence (Vizunah Square, Arborstone, Elonah Reach). Ofcourse they are skilled but having a nightpresence vs most servers without a nightpresence means they dominate in T2 and are quite equal in T1.
As of 2/3 weeks now RUIN gaming made Desolation EU their new home. I don’t know how many people are in RUIN their GW2 department but I’ve heard people talk about them being able to fill up 5 guilds. They are mostly Americans and thus fill a timeslot on EU servers that is practically untouched in T2 and down and has little resistance throughout the week but rather heavy resistance during the weekends in T1.
I understand their reasoning looking for a server to create a 24 hour force however it doesn’t work out at all. I believe that in the current matchup Vizunah and Arborstone still have the lead on Desolation but last night Desolation managed to pretty much cap everything.

With that all said I honestly hope RUIN their intentions were pure and they were in fact looking to create a trend where servers started to actively become a 24 hour force. However what they most likely forgot is that they actually created a trend of just transferring your guild to the server with the best 24 hour force there is to bask in its glory and wave your kitten around.
I don’t blame RUIN at all, they should however have thought it through a bit more imo.

As of now I don’t think any other EU server will get a big guild/gaming community from overseas anytime soon so either Desolation will become T1 champ with an astounding lead every week or Vizunah and Arbor will become insomniacs.

WvW Turtling - Intended or Not?

Why are we even discussing this? Taking away the AoE cap is absolutely absurd with the amount of red circles that go with laying siege to a keep. There isn’t enough dodge in the world to survive as an attacker and defending a keep will mean you have a handful of glass cannon AoE classes that lay waste to entire zergs.

However turtling is one of the worst things to happen to WvW since god knows when. Running in a zerg currently means you run as a blob untill you see the enemy. Hold still, send out mesmer to portal a bit forward, try to hurt as much stuff as you can or die trying, rinse, repeat.

I really just want to see a fix for the culling issue. This would fix so much crap that is currently ruining WvW.

People saying they make 5-10g per day on WvW are lying. However I’m pretty sure I could make 1-2g per day if I didn’t spend anything on upgrades, I spent all day running in a zerg and only tagging enemies AND I sold everything that comes from bags etc. If I’m in a good zerg and AoE a lot to tag as many people as I can I can easily come up with 5, 10 sometimes even 15 bags if we steamroll another zerg.

However when I’m roaming, which I do most of the time, the amount of death and decay is a lot less and obviously I don’t make as much. Anyway, most of the time I break even but I salvage all blues, sell all greens and save all mats. So the only real money I make is the chumpchange that is in bags and selling greens here and there.

I do think it’s a real shame that Blacktide doesn’t have a real day presence. It was so awesome to fight you guys during the morning/afternoon and from one moment to the next there’s like 5 Blacktide players on each map. It’s like your entire server went to sleep.

Anyway, if the rumors about Xoas are true with spying and everything else than all I can do is shrug and go “it’s a game, I’ll get over it”. I will still be roaming around near your supply camps killing Doly’s and trying to get as many kills as possible before going down. I definately made some Elonah player angry today as they started sending me tells with, as far as I can understand German, was mostly cursing.

I would like to thank the 2 players (Thief and Guardian) from Blacktide (believe one was from CIR) that gave me one hell of a battle, I eventually beat them @ the southern camp on FSP BL they then came back and only did /bow and left again.

Now if I can find a way to beat those freakishly annoying tanky build D/D Ele’s my day would have been perfect!

The only reason Blacktide, or more specific Xaoc, is doing this is because of a fued between Blacktide Russians and FSP Russians. They want to beat FSP to proof a point, they are however not doing a very good job…

They will without a doubt nerf thieves into the ground due to everyone asking for nerfs. The only acceptable change in thieves should be that you can’t precast CnD before steal.

They already took care of the biggest issue people should stop crying. Yes I’m a thief, no I don’t play a backstab build. Yes I sometimes die to Thieves that catch me off guard or when my CD’s are down. A full glass cannon backstab thief has 1 chance to kill you. If that fails you should win, if you don’t you shouldn’t come to the forums asking for nerfs but you should reflect on your playstyle and realize you just got outplayed.

There have been a lot of screenshots/videos of supposed hackers/exploiters but never any real confirmation from ANet as far as I know.

Wow Xaoc really hate us on FSP. Loving WvW for the first time in weeks! Awesome fights on large and small scale.

I hardly doubt Elonah will double team us with Blacktide. Elonah has shown us an amazing fight before and I doubt they will go for the easy way out.

I highly doubt that it’s “First come, first serve”. It would be the worst idea when it comes to balancing ever. Also this would create insane amount of queues even though some servers never have queues.

We went into this match guns blazing and we were not disappointed! Blacktide marched in on Elonah BL and went for the kill, Elonah then turned to their own BL and simply took it all and eventually it got really even.

Really looking forward to this week! May the best server win.
