Pyro may be underselling BD just a bit here.
The build can keep 12 stacks of might persistently on the party, even ooc.
With the Herald’s ability to do the same with 16 stacks (Facet of Strength + the might trait), the party has a persistent 23-24 stacks.
So the ability of Chaos+Herald to replace alternate might generation becomes a decent argument in its favor, letting your warrior use weapons other than PS, your eles not needing to worry about fire field blasting, etc.

If you’re right about Herald being common in the new meta, then, it may be that chaos will still make sense—depending on what your other sources of might are.

I did read up on BD, naturally, and it really does look cool to have a good might generation this way.
This would be extremely relevant if it would make for classes to be replaced in the party.
But due to the extreme ease with which eles keep up might, in combination with their blasting requirement for partywide fury, Im expecting the 25 stacks to simply be kept up through lava fonts anyways.

Mesmers are common to put a lot of effort into doing something which is much more easily attained through simple teamplay, this should not become too much of a habit.
Therefore I personally think we’re better off incorporating a blast or two in the rotation of other classes who can do so easily, rather than dedicating an entire traitline to it. As I stated above, I do think phantasms should keep a rather important role in the chrono playstyle, and these imaginary friends of mine want their might too

Yeah, it’s possible that you could get by without focus. The thing is that your utilities and use of continuum split are VERY locked in if you want to maintain the quickness and alacrity. Heh, I didn’t even consider how badly quickness would bork up wardens. FWIW, all the quickness is 5 target caps, so if your party is properly stacked, none should overflow to the wardens.

Long story short:

General concept is a build that neglects personal dps in favor of party dps. You keep close to permanent alacrity and quickness on your entire party. The way you do this is with traited wells, shield, and time warp primarily. By cycling wells and possibly shield phantasms, you can have ~35-40 seconds of alacrity in a 45 second cycle time. By cycling wells, shield 5, and time warp, you can have 35-40 seconds of quickness in that same 45 second cycle time.

Doing this requires some boon duration. If you happen to have a herald in the party, you can rely on their 50% aura and not worry about it personally. If you don’t, you’re going to need to run chaos for upkeep on boons and the boon duration boost of chaotic persistence.

Oooh, so it’s chaotic persistence you’re doing the chaos line for, that makes a lot more sense than bountiful.
Frankly I am presuming revenant will be taken a lot for convenience so I personally won’t be worrying about it too much(you said this in the edit as well).

As you explicitely state that you focus on party dps over your own I won’t be argueing very much, it is what this build does very well.

Personally Im going to be presuming a revenant in most groups, raids and fractals will really benefit from the class and lets face it, they’re the new pve endcontent.
Ive been enjoying the chronomancer very much and the new Phant-shatter playstyle is extremely enjoyable, but I wouldn’t take it too far.
You can basically keep up three phantasms with chronophantasma, shatter them the second time whenever they go off cd(which is fast with alactrity), and respawn them again to shatter them again later.
I do know the staff warlock is amazing in damage but as I stated in the guide before, I don’t enjoy being stuck on the bamn thing when swapping midfight. This works in a shatter 60/40 shatter/phantasm build, but not in a 30/70 one.
Tides of time is great as you know, and one of the best things is it’s ability to hit multiple hitboxes, generating a lovely amount of damage against bloomhunger for example. Because of this I think s/p-s/sh will be the way to go for me, the pistol allows the 1200 range phant generation just like staff, after all.

Im aware of scepter’s faster rate in melee but the aftercast on the 3rd skill still makes it slower. I’d say scepter 3 allows the weapon to match sword until the foe count goes up from 1 to anything more, you seemed to have RE’d something similar so that’s fine.

As always my ideas come from a perspective where everybody does their respective jobs well, so I dont calculate the defensive capabilities of certain weapons in. Aegis on staff is great for partymembers, but I think Ill just be a selfish man and get BF for myself.

Personally I was planning on running domi-duel-chrono with sword/pistol-sword/shield.
I am aware that weapons like scepter and staff are going to get some more viablity but depending on the amount of time invested in a fight, as well as the amount of targets you have, these will all get their own time to shine.
I dont usually talk on the forum here because I simply don’t have a lot of time, but as I need to update the dulfy guide in october I think Im sort of obligated to now

I love the energy in the thread I think though that we need to realise that running the same dungeon has gotten boring without anything new to add. We are talking about a community event, which in my eyes shouldn’t be to ‘increase player skill levels’ but simply to have fun and see who knows what they’re doing. So something which doesn’t depend on who knows each other best or who has practiced most sounds a lot more fun to me.
Running with your friends is something you should be doing in your free time already anyways, why not try something else, or someone else. People who sign up will likely not be clueless as pugs, seeing as how they have had to read this thread(which is a lot of effort for a pug)

Why don’t you just let each player apply individually and then randomly make teams out of 5 players, that have one month to come up with their own tactic for one path.
In the end all the “big names” are split up on smaller groups and people don’t have to be shy anymore.

I love making random teams but making people have a month to prepare is a bad idea as people will just Google for tactics used before and you’ll have to put in tremendous amounts of time to win anything. Apart from that I would love something which makes up random teams, this helps people make new friends and such. nonetheless, we need to remember that there are NA and EU servers

I like iris’ idea, though rules may need to change depending on the challenge, why not make people try fastest 5necro kill? would add some variety and remove issues with the definition of ‘ele stacking’. Also the fee would be fine as something like 5 or 10 gold. that way we can make prizes high numbers if people show up, making more people show up.

I have to say I didn’t read all of your posts. I would really ‘ve up for something like that, but we need to fix up a way to make timing easier. Zelyhn and I did indeed do a project such as this before. it was called the ascension project, and he wanted to try it again some time. It proposed weekly challenges of all formats to give rewards for and keep people busy. This didn’t give any issues with timing as it was simply the goal to record the challenge as fast as you could.

I am anxious to see what people come up with if we were to try something again which I could actually compete in xD.

With a bored community it might not be so bad to have people say “hey, why don’t we look at what the current challenge is on gw2dungeons?”

Back in 2012 I saw the fractal weapons and thought wow! that’s a fancy sword, I’ll try to get it. After that I went on endless fractal runs, reached lvl 80 twice in the meantime, once when maw was still available, giving about 90% chance of a fractal weapon each attempt. After 80 got cut off I kept going to reach 50, and continue daily runs.
Right now I have every skin apart from the sword, and I must’ve gotten at least 15 spearguns ;____; all is vain. Dont get your hopes up.

5 is way too many and not needed.
Even 3 felt like too many last time but went fine, therefore I think 3 is the perfect amount to avoid going off topic etc and have enough people present to sort this whole thing out.

I’m still waiting for the guilds that I sent an invite to even invite their original 2 others.

Like mine, they’re likely full in guildslots. I suppose it should be fine just to have the one in charge and have them take 2 to voice comm?

Something I do know about the imbued shaman resetting is perhaps to do with what miku said at the start. The shaman changes his spawnpoint to the last villager he has eaten, meaning the place where he expands his lure range from changes too. this sometimes makes him capable of resetting when you’re still in the arena of he’s put his spawnpoint at one of the extremes of the arena.

Soloing this encounter is I think much more difficult than people think, simply because it’s not just the bubble which is a problem, but the constant firestorms which have no animation take nothing but experience to predict will constantly pressure you and keep your hp low.

I’m still planning on doing a solo of it on 40 or preferably 50, I think I can do it, but it’s going to be a pain.

Oh well this is great, I’d really like to join in on this seeing as how rT is restarting as of now, and how often rules get confusing nowadays. Sadly I am out of the country (Again) for the rest of July. If possible I’d prefer it if we could give people a little more time and schedule in August.

Edit: I do however think we should look at a more broad perspective than was suggested, though. We can’t have meetings occur at anytime someone suggests something new. Lets look at what the community wants, and how we can cooperate to make everything easier and clearer.

Frankly, the problem is likely with the reason a mesmer is taken into a team.
Mesmers are very far from the top in the DPS measurements, and are therefore often taken for class support through reflection.
This reflection is best kept up with phantasmal warden’s from the focus, and combined with the warden’s feedback trait. so that is the first problem you’re running into.

Secondly, while your damage may be insignificant, at some places you’ll still be expected to do some, and in those cases the greatsword is slightly suboptimal. The reason for this is the damage scaling with distance, and the fact that the autoattack on the weapon doesn’t cleave. As your party is giving out boons nearby the target, you’ll either lose the might, or the damage boost you get from being far away. This is why your sword/sword idea is very good, but for the second weaponset in such a situation, an offhand pistol is more effective.
In this case, you’ll also want to change your imagined burden trait to mental anguish, and shatter when it’s productive.

Lastly, while the mistrust trait has shown its potential when interrupting large groups, it’s often less effective than a sheer damage boost through harmonious mantras, as you’re running berserker gear anyways.
Try out the mantra trait and introduce mantra of pain in your build sometime, just spam it occasionally when you’re doing your damage, and you’ll see a significant increase in damage.

Aside from this, everything seems quite normal,
I hope this is the feedback(huehue joke) you were looking for.

Mesmers dps has actually improved as far as i can tell. Only nerf was the the mantra change. But in most dungeons you dont really have the space to stack loads of mantras for the old dps trait.

You’re quite right. Though actually, with mantras now recharging while charged, and harmonious mantras being mixed with empowering, it’s actually a buff to mantra builds too in a sense. the play required is much more active, but you can now keep up an 8-12% bonus by actually doing damage with mantra of pain, while only having to give up 1 utility slot instead of 3. With 2 slots sacrificed this is even easier.

Well swampland is the fastest fractal in the game as long as you have an idea what to do with the wisps and preferably have bloomhunger. The wisp event only takes about 30 sec to complete, and bloomhunger is just a punching bag if you have some reflects.
Mossman can be a pain in some groups, this is true, but in a relatively experienced team he’s still much faster to take down than doing an entire other fractal.

I suggest looking up some videos or written guides on how to do the wisp event consistently and you’ll find yourself liking the fractal more.

On another note, frifox, while the shatter sounds really cool and I’d like to try it out, the quickness on interrupt trait doesn’t trigger when the interrupt isnt complete.

Guess it’s been a while since I tried it. Retested it as you’re right, it doesn’t proc. I don’t even get a ‘interrupted’ message pop up anymore as long as there is defiance stacks.

However, it’s till funny that you still can interrupt and proc all on-interrupt goodies with the spiders on west side of Mt Maelstrom simply by auto-attackig them… XD

How will this all work with the breakbar though? Will mobs be interrupted whenever they are “blue bar interruptable”? Since defiance is leaving.

Ooooh, observant and interesting, I havent got a clue. Will be interesting!

Mesmers have always been best at complaining about changes, maybe next to warrior, so I’m not gonna say anything about that :p some valid points were made, but its no major issue. I do have to adress to iris though, illusions don’t get affected by boons coming from the outside in terms of damage, so no, we aren’t gonna give 25 might to illusions to phantasms

According to the trait, whenever you summon illusion, you copy all your boons to nearby allies. I assume it’s kinda lackluster (for a GM) and misleading if a mesmer cannot copy his boons to the illusions. That’s where I think illusions are going to inherit boons from mesmer. It’s a new trait which probably doesn’t work with the current mechanics, as you have tested out. But who knows if they actually make it work in the future.

Pistol is so very nice to go with an interrupt-heavy build. I think mesmer looks more promising than it is currently.

Iris, According to the trait, signet of inspiration is activated opun phantasm use, and we know how signet of inspiration works. there’s no ‘making it work’ with phantasms, because its the fundamental way phantasms work. If they would change it, phantasms would be allowed to have 50 stacks of might, which is unrealistic.
That aside, the signet has a target limit of 5, priorizing players, so illusions wouldn’t benefits from it in the first place, unless they change that too.

Id much rather keep phantasms like this than give them base stats and have them be affected by boons. This trait will benefit your party, but phantasms will only get any real benefits from a possible aegis you can apply to them.

I agree that the signet is great to get for free for party support, though I wonder how they’ll handle how you’ll deal with the internal cooldown.
It seems like you’ll easily waste it as you can’t see if its on or off cooldown. I think you’re right to say its a likely subject to change. Right now, however, it seems lacklustery, and not worth grandmaster position.
