I think you only want it because it’s expensive. If it was cheap you wouldn’t think it was all that special. It’s the exclusivity that’s creating the demand.
Favorite is Wayfarer Foothills because I love snowy and mountainous areas, and norn. After that Metrica Province, Caledon Forest, Plains of Ashford. Haven’t played Queensdale much.
GW2 could halve the level of health of legendary bosses and it would not make them any easier, but it would make them less boring. There are bosses where i have two, sometimes three chances to pop an elite (180 sec CD). Quite honestly If the group survived 180 seconds there is no need to prolong the fight any longer because the group has obviously overcome the challenge of it.
Finding Troll’s End in LA by accident. This was in BWE#2 I believe. All I heard was ‘if you get to this really high point you can find a secret area’ and I went from there, tried to climb as high as I can, just improvising. It looked like that balcony was climbable, so I jumped, and slid right off it. As I was falling I was like NOOOOOOOOO-OOoooh I found it! Fell straight into it. Felt so lucky.
The entire beginning experience in Wayfarer Foothills. Still high on hype and unfamiliar with the game, and such a well crafted zone, it was an amazing experience.
You get to experience this in WvW maps at least. When you have only one point at which you can “restart” and when you are really far away from it, you feel the tension and feel the sense of security when other players are around, more so because this is PvP were talking about. Then your world builds waypoints at the keeps and suddenly you’re thinking how you are going to optimize your journey, it’s a completely different attitude and experience.
I think it would do good for Arenanet to consider experimenting with this in PvE. Not everywhere of course. One zone. One endgame zone analogous to something like the realms of the gods in GW1. I think many players would appreciate that. And if you are not one of them, well, there enough waypoints everywhere else. Nothing to lose.
Wow, I had no idea. To tell you the truth I don’t pay that much attention to achievements, but I was pretty sure that Daily is character based…
Some achievements are not account based though – I completed the september monthly achievements on two characters for instance. Dailies are also character based. I would assume that the experience survivor achievement is character based as well and that it starts counting from character creation (thats how GW1 did it, it would appear that they changed this though?). Perhaps for the sake of cleanliness, it may not start counting until after a certain amount of xp without death (iirc, GW1 wouldn’t display the title progress until about level 5?). But now I’m just rambling without any evidence because I have not explored how it works myself.
My gripe is that there are few light armor pants in the game. Two that I know of, the CM (or was it AC, I always confuse the two) dungeon set has tight fitting pants (not very attractive on males hehe) and the asura cultural T2 baggy pants which I love (thankfully) and wear ATM.
I’m not sure why monster tagging even exists, possibly to weed out people getting event xp with very little effort, but I’m feeling very frustrated by it when I’m playing my Mesmer (primarily using staff). Why does tagging have to be so restrictive anyway? Why isn’t one hit enough? Winds of Chaos is a slow attack, Chaos Storm is on a relatively long cooldown, and in most events with lots of players I just can’t tag much before the others kill them.
It’s not really that important for me to get all that xp and trash loot, but I just don’t want to feel like all my efforts are futile, like it doesn’t matter if I just stand there mashing 1 or try to do my best.
I miss how in GW1 enemies came in packs, you’d practically never be fighting 1 on 1 with something (unless you are finishing off a group). You can aggro multiple enemies in GW2 but that doesn’t make them feel like a “group”. Maybe Arenanet can do something about that with future content.
A bigger problem is that there are no exciting drops whatsoever. Saw a chest behind that champion? It probably contains crap, not worth the effort! Your lowliest trash mob seems to have the same chance to drop something rare as the big group event baddy or his chest.
Having a hard time judging distances underwater, very easy to aggro monsters you don’t want to aggro. It’s particularly easy to get overwhelmed by krait.
Disappointed in mesmer elites. Aright, moa is useful in pvp and time warp increases your party’s damage a lot, but the 30 point elite is party invisibility for 5 seconds. I can’t imagine a scenario where I’d find that useful.
Cantha. I will be crushed if there is no Cantha expansion. I want to return and see if Kaineng had spread through the entire landmass, or if the place was tidy’d up, I bet it would look awesome and be loads of fun to explore either way. But how would they tidy it up, when it has a severe overpopulation problem? Unless a catastrophe is under way, one that would require brave heroes to put under control …
Maybe naval combat. Ships and stuff. May be a good companion to the aquatic content we already have.
Would not like small expansions. Would prefer expansions the size of GW1 campaigns.
I have a sylvari named Ferndinand
While we are at it, they could quiet the Greatsword #1 just a bit too. I love how powerful it sounds, but it’s kind of loud.
Let me begin by saying that I LOVE the Guild Wars 1 soundtracks, and after many years of playing the game I have not turned it off or got bored of it. I don’t think I’ll be playing it much more, but I want it to stay GW1 music… Rather than evoking nostalgia, hearing GW1 music in GW2 kind of spoils the memories. And feels weird too. Initially in the low level areas of GW2 I kept hearing the tune that played on the battle isles, and now in the Orr region I’m hearing the Kurzick theme … Feels very out of place, simply not right.
I don’t want to dabble with custom playlists just yet, because I want to experience the original Guild Wars 2 music, which is great. And I realize there are many more pressing problems, but still I’d like to ask for the option to disable GW1 music. Please?
From personal story (dw it isnt spoilerish), i will paraphrase because i cant remember correctly;
norn, to the player: Its a good thing that you’ve arrived, we were about to start snacking on Blobb’s big brain here.
asura, to the norn: one spoonful of my cranium would elevate your intelligence to the point of realizing how useless you are! In your anguish you would end it all.
You know what they say about a Norn with big feet.. !
Big feet, big … heart!
This is very interesting, thanks a lot for the effort.
Look at the bright side, no more staff clipping with your left ear
:(
65 guardian 9/10 (i hate the scepter and the staff is awkward)
66 mesmer 8/10 (managing illusions can be tiring, doesn’t have much “big scary magics of doom” except for staff #5)
Yes. Yesterday I have also removed items from my sell listing and they didn’t show up in the pickup box. I also attempted to buy some crafting mats but the TP gave me a ‘no matching order please refresh’ error and earlier today I noticed a little over 1g disappeared from my inventory. TP is now back but my stuff and more importantly gold isn’t. I want my gold back, it’s not a lot but I’m poor enough as it is.
Yeah, yesterday I made several unsuccessful attempts at buying crafting mats from the TP (“Sorry! Your order did not match…….please refresh and try again.” error), but today I noticed I’m missing about 1g 50s. I did not notice when exactly but I’m positive that my unsuccessful TP attempts did not cost me at the time of the attempts. What I also did last night was cancel several things I was selling but they didn’t show up in my pick up box… A real bummer. :S
Can you recoup the costs of the mats, sell this stuff after youre done? 3g is kind of a lot.
Last night we were doing Caudecus Manor explorable and were having a particularly hard time, as it was the first time in the explorable mode for all of us in the group. A person left after the first boss (butler route). We replaced them but after the second boss (and a lot of wipes) frustration made three people leave. It was just two of us now and we really wanted to finish it, so I went outside and found two more people, but when we went into the dungeon, we entered a fresh, reset instance. The other guy was left in the old, half completed instance, meaning the party was in two instances of the dungeon.
I was puzzled. Not to mention demoralized because getting those two bosses took a lot of effort. Now I had to apologize to the guys because I couldn’t find the motivation to play any more.
What happened? User error? Bug? Working as intended? How does it work?

“For the record, you’ve been struck”, when being attacked, or when attacking, I’m not sure
“I’ve lost visual acuity!” when blinded, I love this one.
If you enable “game messages” (if i remember correctly) in the chat (right click on the chat tab), it will tell you when a contact comes online. It will also display other things like what you loot … depending on your preference this may be useful or cluttering.
The cost of traveling to cultural capitals should be the same as traveling to Lions Arch. Since we can take a free asura gate from LA, at least let us skip that lengthy LA loading screen and go directly to our city of choice for the same price.
Come to think of it if you want cities to be social hubs you should make travel to cities free, period. Spread that cost to other waypoints, the price increase should be negligible.

Attached should be a screenshot of my mesmer previewing a Krytan sword. All other main hand or off hand previews are like this, just can’t see them. Problem would be fixed if in the preview weapons were drawn.
At least it would be easier than fixing all this messy asura armor clipping. Look at him, nevermind the weapons, even his hands are clipping through his skirt. Fix please?
The PvE part of GW2 went straight to the opposite of GW1 to NOT being a 3D lobby game, as much as i love GW1, I’d hate to see all that effort go to waste.
