Here’s a tip, you can right click on the item slot and equip items that way, from any of the three panels. So you can equip stuff even when you are in dye mode, or wardrobe mode.
However, I do agree with having all three modes accessible with one click, instead of needing to click once to go to an empty menu, then click again for what I want. It’s just one click but it’s something that we interact with very often and it becomes cumbersome, not to mention the transition animation is very slow …
What kind of fun ideas can you come up with to help allow us to get more story into the fractal experiences, without the cost of slowing down the core re-playability of the game play that is at the heart of the fractal content?
What about something like Scarlet’s Journal, but for fractals?
Proposal Overview
A big journal containing fractal lore.
Proposal functionality:
You get a book when you complete a fractal, with a little extra snippet about what was going on; when you have all of them, you can combine them into one big journal.
This snippet might be a description, or perhaps a line quoted from a point-of-view NPC/character in the fractal. Perhaps voice acted, if that isn’t asking for too much!
It could be further expanded upon by showing Dessa the journal, and asking her for some more information. This would all be text based and available to players whenever, so I think it would minimize interference with the designs of fractals.
Associated Risks:
There are many fractals, and if even more are added, this could prove to be too complicated for the current item/conversation systems.
A technical problem would be determining eligibility to acquire a book after a completed fractal, so we don’t end up acquiring dozens of them.

Proposal Overview
Encourage players to experiment with mistlock instabilities by adjusting the rewards.
Goal of Proposal
The goal is to get players playing with the various instabilities. I see a preference to run only the easy instabilities, such as with scale 42 – reduced endurance regeneration. I’d love to play the difficult ones, but 4 other people might not agree, and I would hardly get anything more than usual out of such a run anyway. Ultimately, groups choose the path of least resistance towards that final chest. So the contents of that final chest might be the best influence on what path groups take.
Proposal Functionality
The mistlock instabilities should be weighted by difficulty (and I would assume you have metrics that would help you do this, such as the average time players spend in a particular scale/instability, or the number of deaths, etc) and the rewards of the final chest should be adjusted accordingly for each instability, instead of the difficulty scale. This can be just pure gold increase/decrease, or even altering the chance for something exotic/ascended to drop.
Associated Risks
Perhaps some additional confusion about the whole fractal system, as they are already pretty complicated to explain to newcomers. But I think we could manage it.
Assuming PvP perspective, and I take it that by “needs help” you mean balancing up, then:
1. Elementalist
2. Mesmer
3. Ranger (non-spirit)
I’d prefer balancing down.
Well. From my point of view, an opaque or almost opaque circle is functionally identical to things such as a pile of rocks that is about to explode (Eruption) or an image of a guardian symbol, etc.
A red ring is different because it only indicates a boundry, which you could learn from experience, and after a while you would be able to avoid everything even with red circles turned off, because you learned that a pile of rocks is about to explode and the kind of radius it has.
Anet had to put something there though, how else would you know she is about to swing her heel there? A circle/rectangle with nothing inside of it kind of doesn’t do it justice, so they colored it a bit.
I see people are very happy about orange circles and wish that Anet use them more. I hate the idea though. Watching Wildstar combat is absolute horror, I think people just want to be told when to dodge and they don’t really care what it is that they are dodging.
I hope Anet sticks to their views against having intrusive UI and mechanics that don’t induce skillful play, and doesn’t go that route .
The conversations are great but I felt like I was eavesdropping. Then I clicked on Braham and he called me his friend, and it was one of the most bizarre feelings I experienced in GW2. I’ve hated on the 2D conversations from the personal story a lot, but at least they include you.
I have 4v5 matches every day. Every single match I stare at the B menu with dread that someone is gonna quit. People usually quit within 30 seconds of the start of the match. I just came out of a match where the enemy team STARTED with 4 players.
How hard is it to just refill the spot with someone from the queue? Leaderboards might be a concern, but maybe just give them the option to decline to join a match in progress.
Anet, seriously.
Cograts! A week ago a similar thing happened to me, Spark the dagger precursor dropped in the Ascalon fractal and I didn’t notice until we were back at the observatory and I was clearing out my bags at the merchant golem.

If you don’t enjoy stacking, then don’t stack?
Try that in a pug in any dungeon. See what happens. Go do AC at the spider queen. Go do the weapon test fractal. Actually play the game to know what people are talking about.
Create your own group and state you don’t want to stack. The people saying lol yeah here would join you.
It does not work. Games are about overcoming challenges, and stacking overcomes challenges. For the same reason no one is going to play without any traits because they want content to be more challenging, they are going to stack even if they don’t like stacking. Threads like these are not about pressuring players out of strategies that work, but about reaching to the devs, because it is their design and the blame lies solely with them. Stacking is stupid and boring and it’s a shame that it’s so effective.
^ clown car is not fun and I’d just remove it (keep Rabsovich and his initial adds). Also fix the reviving at the control panel.
Fix the archdiviner fight and have him drop some kitten loot in line with every other boss.
Fix the charr fractal not turning you into a charr. I’d love to see some more armor variations here.
Really hoping for a good coating of polish on all fractals. But I don’t think much is going to change.
(edited by Satakal.6971)
Also, at higher Fractal levels the weapon skins become more common, and also start dropping in a container that lets you pick the one you want.
I know a lot of people have been bothering you about fractal skins over the past year, but if we will be able to pick the weapon skin we want, I believe the drop rate should be even lower than it currently is. Everybody wants the hot rewards, but they only want them for themselves. Common rewards aren’t attractive. Still, I applaud your efforts to refine the way the skins are acquired.
A few thoughts on PvE ele…
I don’t quite understand the point of reworking attunement CD to decrease necessity of spending points into arcane, but then moving fantastic traits up to increase necessity of spending points into arcane… It feels like two contradictory things in the same patch.
Secondly I’ve always felt extremely squshy with scepter/focus and I felt elemental attunement was a must for the protection. And together with cleansing wave It felt like I could be very supportive to my allies without sacrificing too much of the damage. So this feels really harsh to me.
Signets give you protection, fury and swiftness. Throw out the elemental glyph and take another signet, and spam them. Maybe boon duration runes to make the most out of them. I don’t do WvW but I assume this won’t work there. In PvE, eh, who cares, as long as you are having fun.
1. Fractals and dungeons
2. Build diversity (including traits, gear and condition cap)
3. Prestige (rewards, including the risk/effort vs reward factors in gw2)
(edited by Satakal.6971)
I feel like the wisps greatly diminished the experience. It’s just not fun without racing with the other players.
Today a guy in my party said he got the achievement but I didn’t. We left 4 of his adds and pulled him to the corner below the pathway up and killed him, then finished off the adds. A couple of us were downed but no one died.
Well besides the obvious … Nameplates. Maybe it’s an odd thing to praise but the other day I logged onto a different MMO after not playing anything but GW2 since it’s launch, to realize that I couldn’t read the name of a monster that was 10 ingame meters away from my character. I had to mouse over it and read the tooltip. Players and NPCs as well. GW1/2 use a nice and easily readable font at all distances, and the alt/ctrl highlight functionality is awesome.
Yep unplayable due to skill lag.
Haven’t we been over this like last year … I like the concept of content having rewards exclusive to it. It encourages people to do it, in a more healthy way than if you have unrewarding content that players are nudged into through daily and monthly achievements. And because there aren’t a lot of players doing high level fractals because they are not time/money efficient, and because you have unreliable RNG, I think fractal weapons are kind of a big deal and I’d like them to stay like that.
^ Not dodging. If you activate skills during a dodge they are put in a queue and executed when the dodge completes. Unless you have evasive arcana.
(edited by Satakal.6971)
But it’s not just the heal, it cancels all the attack spells too. So it’s really odd in fast paced situations. I don’t think the guardian’s dodge heal cancels his attacks? Skills should at least be put in a queue to execute after evasive arcana’s effect instead of being plain cancelled. I don’t think there is any other situation in the game where skills get cancelled.
If I cast a spell right out of a dodge, it gets cancelled by the effect of Evasive Arcana. It doesn’t get a cooldown, it just cancels as if it wasn’t triggered in the first place.
I’ve only just started playing around with this trait but I know other ele’s have used it for a long time, so presumably this is either a known bug or it’s like that by design? It can be detrimental in a situation where I want to heal out of a dodge and die because the heal didn’t happen, and I raged at my keyboard and mouse at first because I thought they were buggy.
A couple of holographic walls are one thing, this looks like a bug though. Or just mean. No wonder people are asking for portals. I’m not doing this JP any more.
At the goggles in the new JP there is this weird texture that is transparent from one side and solid from the other… See screenshots. Is this supposed to be like this?
I like these types of threads.
Here’s one from Plains of Ashford. The other day when the daily was killing veterans in ascalon, there were lots of people very near here, but I don’t think many of them knew about the statue. I only managed to find it because I can be obsessive sometimes.
Something isn’t looking right on the achievement leaderboards. I was quickly clicking “next” because I didn’t think of typing the page number in the URL bar, and I noticed that achievement points are fluctuating.
For instance, go to page 40
1000th place: Wendel.7695 with 5866 points
click “prev” twice
950th place Tefras.3612 with 6267 points
click “next” twice
1000th place Link.4210 with 6245 points
edit: ohh, I get it, it’s switching between regions. But it still counts as a bug…
(edited by Satakal.6971)
Not really, but I sure hope they never shut it down. I personally consider it one of the greatest games ever, and it would be a great loss if it disappeared, even if no one plays it.
Harathi Hinterlands northern edge isn’t straight, which I think is kind of weird.
MSI Afterburner is free, check it out. It’s based on Riva Tuner and has a lot of features from tinkering with your card (overclocking and related stuff) to capturing screenshots and video without time limitations.
(edited by Satakal.6971)
You could make t6 mats with them, but considering it takes an ecto + a mystic coin, it is probably not profitable. And you’d be the only person going “five clovers in a row, I have such horrible luck!”
All those easy vistas that you get with like three jumps teach you that rewards come easy and that you are basically entitled to earn them with minimal effort, those ones are really the problem. This is one of the better vista/skill challenges/achievements in the game and I’m sorry you got frustrated, you have to just take a breath and try it again tomorrow if it’s that important to you. It’s not going anywhere.
Gandara opened 5-10 min ago
I like to play with torch in a condi dmg spec once in a while in WvW, in combination with scepter #3 and the asura racial Pain Inverter. I find that most people melt themselves unless I do something wrong. I don’t have that much experience though.
You honestly think some of us running this dungeon for almost 2 months, every single day, and getting nothing is just fine?
And that Bad RNG is better than Tokens?! At least with tokens i know when my grind will be over.
I guess when RNG favors you, you dont mind it.
I run fractals daily too, the reason I’m only 27 is that my friends haven’t gotten that high yet, or sometimes I go with an alt. I try to have as much fun as I can, and for me, the possibility of an exciting drop is very much part of it. I think it’s so disappointing that you can run a dungeon in this game and be 100% certain that you won’t get anything interesting out of the chests (unless it’s CoE because it has charged cores in the chests). I don’t think RNG favors me, but I think the possibility of it finally hitting me is much more exciting than collecting boring tokens.
I think drop rates are just fine. I got my first fractal weapon drop a few days ago, and it’s not even something I plan on using (pistol). My personal level scale is 27. That said, I’m, the kind of person that really doesn’t like the concept of tokens for gear. Bad RNG luck is bad RNG luck, but tokens are nothing but pure grind.
In my opinion, if the devs wanted to reward us for making more use of the open world, laurels should have been drops from champions and veterans, and maybe world chests. Not guaranteed, but like a decent chance from champions and small chance from veterans, with a system similar to bonus xp – the longer a champion/veteran is alive, the more chance he has of dropping a laurel. So players are encouraged to spread out and find champions to kill, complete event chains they neglected for the ease of farming Orr and such…
I say this because I find the new dailes overbearing. I found the old daily overbearing too but to a lesser extent, but now ordinary tasks like for example reviving are turned into something you have to keep track of, and you have to devise ways of completing them because you can’t be sure that “ordinary” gameplay will cut it in the time that you have to play. And the reward is too tempting to pass on.
It’s probably way too late to be saying any of this, but I wanted to get it off my chest.
remove the phenomenon of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_loafing by AddOns that allow to assess other players performances
GW2 isn’t a perfect game but if there is anything that will definitely kill it for me, it would be this. You can assess other players performances in dunegons and stuff just fine if you just look at what they are doing. But I’ll be kitten if I let a piece of software judge me! Not going to happen.
@ScribeTheMad
And where did the island come from… Maybe it “rose” like orr, but I really didn’t catch what was going on, it was very unclear.
I was kinda hoping the update would kinda push towards a new dragon story arc, but I guess this is basically confirmation that dragons will only come with expansions, and we will never see Cantha again. I hope I am wrong. By the way, if it’s not dragons, I haven’t an idea what it could be, but the karka event felt like a diversion at best – a story arc that has no bearing on anything else we should be concerned about, I hope this one doesn’t end up like that too.

1) Would you prefer ascended gear to be the last tier implemented for the remainder of GW2? yes
2) Would you prefer ascended gear to be equal to exotic gear in all statistics except agony resistance? no
3) Would you prefer the level cap to remain at 80 for the remainder of GW2? yes
4) Would you prefer if WvW was set up on an equal playing field similar to PvP? i don’t know but leaning on yes
5) Would you prefer if WvW / PvP / PvE had separate skill functionalities? no
6) Would you prefer if Magic Find was removed from the game completely? yes
7) Would you prefer if Magic Find was divided equally amongst all party members? yes
8) Is GW2 too ‘Grindy?’ yes
9) Does GW2 need less RNG? no (it’s either grind or RNG, take your pick)
10) Has the Trading Post [and all its users/farmers] positively impacted the economy? no
11) Do you have as much faith [and/or enthusiasm] about the game [and/or company] as you did before launch? no
12) Do you reasonably expect [many of] your primary concerns to be addressed in early 2013? no
Server restrictions are a mistake. I was hoping that you’ve dropped the idea for good, but it would appear you have spent development time on an unnecessary feature like guesting, which we were doing just fine without, instead of something like “underflow” maps because your world is deserted and you cant find people to do specific events to save your life. I hope you reverse your decision. I hope the WvW system gets a revision similar to favor of the gods.
Notice that the gear boxes are colored as rare, so they most likely contain items of rare quality. But yeah, they may be random profession-usable items. The question then is, what would be the point of that? It’s not like we are having particular trouble acquiring rare items as it is, they are under 50s on the TP, and would it really be worth to spend 5 daily rewards on items whose TP value is less than 50s?
Great, legendaries are now $5, what has the GW2 endgame come to?! /joke
Well, if MS wants to sell them, fine, but they should just call them what they are. There is no problem with taking inspiration from somewhere, even the designs for Twilight and Sunrise came from somewhere, but it’s only a blatant ripoff and wrong if the designers refuse to admit it.
Not many files, I’m gonna guess it’s a critical bug or exploit fix.
Experiencing lag today, in PvE zones, LA, and WvW. I’ve never had issues with GW2 lagging except for the one time events… My net appears to be working fine for other stuff.
edit: I play from Serbia, and I’m also getting error 502 on the forums lately, but there was never lag in the game itself.
(edited by Satakal.6971)
What i’d love instead of plain +10 to the level cap, is some kind of a “secondary profession” system, where an expansion introduces, say, 5 new secondary professions, with 10 levels in each. So they have their own skills, traits, a small amount of them, and when your character gets to 80, he picks a secondary and levels it, maybe acquires some specific new gear related to the secondary profession, and that’s it. Something to bring back some of the diversity from GW1.
Dierdre’s steps (Mount Maelstrom), Goemm’s lab (Metrica province), and that one in Malchor’s Leap with the 13 keys, basically I like the big, multi-part ones, that aren’t so much linear jumping from a to b. I was a little bit frustrated with searching for all the keys because it took a long while, but it was satisfying at the end, plus, who would have thought an underground area like that would be so haunting, props to Arenanet’s artists.
