I dont think we need 8+ pages telling them that ascended gear was a bad idea. If we can lets focus on ideas to make obtaining it easier and other ideas for progression other than vertical.

Here is a quick summary of what the posters are asking for:

- Give us progression through new skills (earned by doing long quest chains and events and story in the game, also dont forget wvw. Skills can be focused on specific encounters in the environment like anti toxin was, so it wont throw off balance in pvp)

- Give us progression through factions (skins, discounts on items, special items)

- Give us progression through our actions (have our choices be reflected in the world ie: npc interactions, a personality system)

- Give us progression through mini pets (let us race them, fight them against each other, minigames)

- Give us a skin locker to help manage all the skins

- Give us more ways to aquire ascended armor and weapons (let us use other currencies already in game like laurals and wvw badges and guild commendations)

- It would be nice if the ascended items could become stat swapable (maybe add an additional step through the mystic forge to make it swapable)

- Give us guild halls to add personal touches too (let us add things like tapestries and furniture)

- Give us housing to again add personal items too

- Give us home instance customazition (this is kind of inline with player housing, but may be easier to develope than player housing. Basically its an acceptable comprimise)

- Give us more titles

- Give us ways to upgrade existing skins (Like the fractal capacitor)

- No more verticle progression

Oh oh oh, another idea. If you want to add more skills but dont want to throw off pvp balance. Give us skills that work against npc’s only. You already have sigils why not add some skills that do extra damage against a specific enemy. I think your antitoxin heal kinda worked like that too (it healed a special condition only found in the tower). Keep things like that coming.

Heres another idea for you. Minipets. Can we get that mini pet fighting game that it appears we have an arena for in lions arch. It would make collecting them so much cooler if we had a use for them. Also if they could stay out permanently till we put them away. That would be nice too.

In addition to including the orders we joined in the regular game, I would like to see the choices we make represented in game through titles and npc interactions. About 30% of the time weve been given choices in how to proceed with a task and no where have I witnessed an outcome of my choice other than in the immediate path that follows the choice. I think the choices are fist, crown and heart. I dont think we need a system as involved as mass effect or skyrim (though that would be cool) but it would be nice to see your character progress slowly towards the dark side if you will. Please can someone tell me if Im missing something. Do your choices ever show up in the game anywhere?

I think it would be a nice form of horizontal progression.

@Lheimroo.2947 yes it would feel good if they moved it down to exotic and gave us stat switching. But ill settle for just being able to buy it with all forms of game currency. Right now you can buy accessories with laurels, badges, commendations,and pristine fractal relics. It needs to be this way for weapons and armor too.

Now, jumping right into horizontal progression. Can the ArenaNet designers begin to design a game that incorporates the orders that we joined in our personal story. The designers may already be doing this to some degree, but it is my opinion that it is lightly used.

You may recall that in the first Guild Wars there were two factions. I believe they were called the Luxons and the Kurzacks. In that game it was possible to compete quest for a particular faction. Doing so resulted in rewards such as special armor and weapons. I would like to see the orders work in a similar fashion (or if no one likes the orders, then create some new factions for us to be a part of. I just pick the orders because there already in the game and I like that incorporates the personal story back into the game)

Also, I believe it would be great if completing quest didnt stop at skin and title rewards. If npc’s in the world could react to you based on which order you joined that would be cool as well. Have npc’s sell you cheaper food based on the order your in. For example, the vigil could sell you cheaper food that has power at its base, where the order of whispers could sell you items that deal with vigor or stealth. Discount food has already been done in game. The dragon bash festival introduced food that could be bought with candy (which is basically another currency when you get down to it) The food had buffs similar to that of food that was already in the game it just didnt last as long. Please dont stop at just food, Im just using this as an example.

Maybe put some animosity between some of the orders and provide us with some conflict we can participate in. Thats all Ive come up with for now. Anyone else have any ideas?

I have a question. A high up designer (I wont name names because I think its against forum policy) once said that the goal of guild wars to was to just be able to play the game without having to gear up to play the game. I feel the ascended armor and its 5% stat increase compel me to gear up to play the game.

I know other people and other developers do not feel compelled to get this gear before playing the game but I do (please dont waste your breath trying to convince me otherwise because you wont) and I would like to know if there will be any more vertical progression that takes such a substantial time investment to obtain in the near future (and by near future I mean the next two years, since thats how long it will probably take me to obtain the current iteration of gear)?

Surprised no one has pointed out that the OP got new skins. 3 count them, 3 new back piece skins. One of which is not tied to a random number generator. Also a new full set of armor for all 3 weight classes. I know hes upset about not getting new weapons skins this year, but I didnt see anyone complaining about not getting new armor and back piece skins last year. Perspective; it really is everything.

Because what we need is more back pieces, right?

It isn’t about not getting new skins, it’s about recycling old ones.

Ok, so if no one wants new skins then whats the problem with them reusing old skins. And how did you miss the other 18 new skins they released with this patch for armor. Just because some people dont like them doesnt make them not count. And for those complaining about not getting christmas skins that light of dwana sure looks like a christmas skin.

QQ all you want but the fact of the matter is we got more skins per capita with this patch than any other patch to date. Also there have been tons of patches that released new weapons skins in the past, its about time we got some armor, especially since the last patches light armor got repealed for the time being.

Man, logic sure sucks doesnt it, it makes everyone on here whinning sound like a bunch of idiots.

In video games: Meta is the current set style, per say. it is what is normally done.

Why gamers took this term and destroyed it and morphed it into the new stupid, idiotic, ridiculous meaning God only know, but they did and now when gamers use it thats what it means. Any body else in the world uses the first definition.

Hmm nice. I played a few matches this past weekend and they went pretty fast, even won both of them (dont know if I was playing hotjoin, or soloq, or if theres even a difference between the two. all I know is I walked up to the guy in the mist and hit the play button). I know its hard capped at 5 gold but I could easily see my self jumping in to spvp for an hour or two every day to farm some gold. Gotta use all these glory boosters Ive gotten from achievment chest too.

I saw a blog post detailing the upcoming changes for SPvP, and I was wondering if we will be getting a similar blog post detailing the upcoming changes for PvE. It would be nice to know what things the company will be working on in the new year. I know Colin Johansen did one back in the summer that told us to be looking for fractal updates and ascended weapons and armor. So thats it, will there a blog post for PvE soon?

Friday they should provide us with more information in their twitch stream. Hopefully they will get more granular with the skills and explain how long the cool down is for the skills, how much do they actually heal for, and how long does the effect last.

Personally I wish they would explain things like where we get the new ore’s for the ascended armor and will they ever give you another way to acquire it other than champ boxes, daily fractal chest, and of course crafting because even with all three of those methods the stuff is still very hard to come by. Id like to see it be purchasable through wvw badges and laurals, guild commendations and laurals, and through pristine fractal relics.

Early daytime is a low coverage time for SBI, I think it always has been. And yea the fact that its friday and the match has been decided probably plays a role. Though “spoiler alert” SBI is obessed with EB and some of you may recall we used to let everything but EB go no matter what. I think the native SBI players that have been here since launch still have mindset.

It wasnt till guilds like Abys, Beast, and Hero transferred that our borderlands started to get some love. Big thanks to those guys to coming over to help us be a competitive server. I may be wrong about Abys they may have been here all along, I forget. Also big thanks to guild like TE for sticking around even during the slow days to help keep us competitive.

Unnecessarily Complicated

It just sounds complicated at the moment. Once you see the description coupled with a pretty user interface it will make more sense. I understand it now and I think its a cool idea. Ill probably never go far above level 40 fractals because they havnt done much to increase the rewards but for those that like to go super high, the agony changes will be good for them. I do find it funny that its not account wide. So even though all your characters will be on the same reward level they still wont be able to do high level cause they will not have the resistance thus almost nullifying the change they made.

Though I suppose if your high level you probably have a few spare rings lying around to give to your alts, especially since those genius game developers at anet still havnt found something else for us to do with the metric kitten ton of rings we have sitting in our banks.

No body has bothered to bring up how increadibly easy fractals are below level 20. The difficulty goes up a little passed level 10 but not much. Not to mention the fact that they said they were going to make it even easier and the fact that they have fixed bugs in both the dredge and harpy fractal which again makes it so much easier. It will be on par with the difficulty of the latest living story update the tower of nightmares. And lets be honest, if you cant do the tower of nightmares then you need to put down your keyboard and step away from computer games all together.

So in summary the community wont be split by this because the community is not made up of half decent players and the other half kittened people. Probably more like 15% kittened people. And that 15% needs to quit anyway. So BYE.

Also its not just Guild Wars 2 that punishes people that run full on damage and no defense. Ever heard of Ever Quest? You could barley take on warthog in full armor in that game. I never Played WoW but since it was an EQ clone I assume it didnt let you run into a dungeon wearing your pj’s and have you roflstomp everything either.

I think its great that it goes away based on player actions. Its much more imersive that way. Its way better than it disappearing arbitraily after two weeks. Also anybody can knock the achievements out in about 6 hours anyway. Thats like 3 or 4 play sessions for a casual. Not to mention the fact you can finish meta achievements by simply doing the daily anyway. Thats how I did the toxic achievment. Barley did any of the actual achievements.

Also the rewards from the dungeon arnt that great. Underwater breather skins that can be used on land are meh. Then theres a mini. Who cares. All I care about is the cool gas mask and you get that for finishing the meta which is easy as I already proved. And we get permanent fractals in the next patch so…. Epic Win.

Sadly, I think this build will be getting a small nerf from the change to fire trait 3, Ember’s Might. Of course you may take 10 points out of arcane now that they are lowering the attunement switching cooldown globally and put those points into fire to get Pyromancer’s Puissance to stack extra might and get extra power and get that 5% damage back from the burning rage buff they are going to do. That would probably offset the nerf.

Im not sure that spell cast on dodge that you get from Evasive Arcana is key to this build. Im not sure if you went 30 into arcana for that skill or if it was for the attunment cool down reduction or both.

At any rate I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

My problem is I dont want to respec my warrior. I want to leave him in WvW mode all the time (which means tanky hammer build). Other problem is everyone is running guard these days and running four guards in one party makes the dungeon go slow. So Im looking for a class that does heavy damage. Having to deal with a crazy pet makes me think I should look at Ele’s

Also Id prefer not to die whenever an enemy sneezes on me. I do know how to dodge but even on paths I know well like COF p1, I still go down at least once per run in my zerker gear. Im a big believer in no matter how much damage you do, its all for not if your always lying on your back.

Ive read that the lightning hammer build can actually out damage a warrior but Ive also heard that it takes a specific group set up and that its glassy as all get out. Are any of the changes coming out on the 10th of december gonna help dungeon ele’s. Am I in the right place or should I be looking at Rangers

I thought you were going to say that. You appear to not have the ability to think beyond the present (maybe not at all for that matter). If you dont wont to zerg you dont have too. Thats your choice. For one thing you could guest to a less popular server where there are less people . Or you can wait a week and come back when everyone has their achievements and the zone is less populated. Also a few of the enemies now try and res their fallen comrades. That one small change alone adds more dynamics than just pressing F on a sign post.

I think this is a great update. I love phasing. I love stomping enemies with my cow. I like the new runes that may expand on torment and condition damage, and I like that there have been cool armor skins data mined. Im not talking about the ones that are currently in the gem store (those are ok but not my cup o tea).

Seriously, go do Teq, go run Arah or cof p3, wait for queens gauntlet to come back. Or just wait till everyone has their achievements then come back to this zone in a week. It will be hard then. The hardcore crowd has gotten plenty of updates. This is coming from someone who has played since beta, goes into wvw (where you really should be going if you need a challenge anyway), has 6,900 achievement points and knows all the classes and game mechanics. Leave my easy to do with friends, non frustraiting content alone.

Its great that the cast has strong females in it. Guess what guys, girls like it when all the characters in the game arnt some macho kill em all dude. Even better guild wars 2 has reasonably dressed female leads. They may not have a strong story but atleast they arnt driving the female playerbase away with scantily clad weak female characters. The more women playing the game the better cause guess what happens if your GF plays the game… you get to play the game too, its a win/win. Please Anet keep doing what your doing.

Nope, ancient wood works the same way. You get a set amount per map, per character. The only answer is to get more lvl 80 toon’s. Its the only place this game is alt friendly. Too bad I only have 4 80’s.

I actually meant to imply that they changes contained within could be total BS. Even though some people trust the source, I have no idea who the person is. I will say though that they sound pretty realistic.
