Perhaps you need to explain a bit more about this…
I’m reading:
Push everyone into 3 servers. 1 server at a time until they are full.
I’m interpreting:
Queuesfordays
Are you saying that the 3 servers that would be matched up every week get thrown into the hat and build 3 teams from that? I don’t think I like the idea of fighting next to people I can’t stand (not you ET).
How would server ranking be effected. Or do you want to throw the world wide population into one hat and create a few match ups? eeeeee!!!! And what if that last match up only has one server not fully populated? Or even worse, 1 person misses out on the pop cut and ends up on a team all alone…
My opinion is that server pride plays a huge roll in WvW – otherwise people would just hope over to any server if they wanted to pay the fee. There are some of us who can’t imagine fighting for any other team or with any other group of random people just in order to obtain some form of balanced match up.
The answer is: there is no answer. You can’t merge EU with NA. You can’t merge NA/EU within NA/EU, because it’s pointless due to night capping.
Just hope and pray “things sort themselves out” in the long run… which obviously has not happened.

Naaaaaaaaw FC, ExNa guild should be ashamed
Speed hacks, got you recorded bub
If you FC guys can work out who this guy is and get them banned thatll be great
Ooooo – now that’s not right! I’ll be sure to keep a lookout. Shame on you ExNa

From a purely tactical point of view, it makes sense for us to hit your garrison before it has a waypoint up as it makes your whole borderland much harder for you to defend, as I am sure you are aware.
This goes for IoJ’s garrison as well. My guys will be trying to take out any Tier 3 towers and keeps on both enemy borderlands first as it weakens the defending team significantly. Much harder to defend your borderland when everything has paper gates, and FC were in DR’s borderland for a large part of last night and managed to flip pretty much everything. I fully expect this to happen to us as it is a very good tactic.
/salute
Accepted. Makes perfect sense… But it’s more of a hindrance than a crippling blow… and it costs our small population a ton of dough to queue upgrades again…
So if you feel generous and want to be the most polite opponent ever – get in, take Greenbriar, flip a few camps and reatreat :P
Any takers? Anyone? No? Oh well, I suppose we’ll have to up the ante in gar from 6 AC to 20…
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
You IoJ types better hope your Oceanics don’t rent a beach house with no internet, or you would be sitting 3rd, and leaving your present tier. It is nice as usual to see the IoJ commanders sucking up to another server in hopes of an alliance to compensate for their poor primetime. The question here is will it take flowers and chocolates? What will DH think if they see you around going all snuggletums with FC?
To FC- as you can probably tell, our first pick is IoJ as far as wrecking homelands goes, as that is straight where we went on reset. Mon night DDLG was in IoJ BL, and last night we were mainly in DR BL. It has been good fighting you guys, and you have done much better than IoJ in countering us open field. Perhaps if we went Akitten for 5hrs and transformed into doors, IoJ would do better against us in the open field.
Well from my point of view, we do as much damage (as we can) to IoJ as we do to DR in EB. We just retaliate against DR more often in their BL since they pay our BL frequent visits (especially paving the yellow brick road to our garrison). I know each person has their own “prime time” and that’s why you think that DR is paying IoJ homelands more visits than FC, but if you look at the graphs in the above posts there is a certain trend going on that whenever there is a spike in the green line, there is an accompanying dip in the red line….
EDIT: Again, from my point of view – IoJ not that we don’t appreciate any interference when it comes to suppressing DR, but just so we’re clear – we don’t need you pity either. Now please don’t take this as meaning you should bring your entire zerg to FC all day, every day until Friday… but just don’t take any offence if those blue towers look a lot more lucrative than the green ones at times. Green is of course the colour of sick and should be eliminated at all times, but blue is normally the colour just before getting sick and our treatment is a little red anti-nausea medicine drops :P

Lol this thread
I thought FC and ET had issues, boy was I wrong :P
Every match up has a winner: the one with the most points…. Largest guild, best players, numbers, oceanic presence – it all amounts to points and we have a winner, a whiner and a when-ner
Let’s put away the handbags and beat each other up on the battlefield.
Just qurious:
DR, why do you insist on taking FC garrison above anything else on the map? Last night you had enough people to take 4 towers at the same time and then probably bay and hills at the same time, but oh no: Gaaaarrriiiiiisooooon!!!!!
*sings*"We’re off to take the garri, the wonderful garri of Fergs"
I don’t get it. Lo and behold we get a WP there? Surely the garr alone is not worth as many points as 4 camps and 4 towers? errrr…. wait…. no go ahead, focus on the garrison… note to self: don’t supply enemy with tactics
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Know your server colour (Red, Blue or Green). Any colour that is not the same as yours is a target – these are, for the most part, the dynamic event equivalent.
Each server (colour) has their on Borderlands map and there is a central map, Eternal Battlegrounds.
I suggest you start learning the ropes in your own borderland. There are “dynamic events” you can do other than taking camps, towers or keeps. The quaggans can be flipped in each colour’s favour in the lake. There are skritt to the NW and centaurs to the NE. Dolyaks can be escorted and is always welcomed.
Taking a camp solo is not all that easy, but most hardened WvWers can solo flip a camp even if it’s fully upgraded.
Taking a tower on your own: well it’s possible…
Taking a keep on your own: not a good idea…
Taking SM on your own: screen shots or it did not happen :P
Defeating a Legendary Defender: The aim for most WvWers to prove their ultimate strength. Try it I double dare you
At your spawn point are (or rather could be) two NPCs with a commander tag. Don’t confuse these two (Siegecrusher and Siegeraizer) with player commanders just standing there doing nothing. Shouting at- or insulting them for inaction won’t harm their feelings in the slightest. These also count as events and will start once 10 people gather on them. They give each person in the area 10 supply and start marching (at a very composed pace) to either the NE or NW towers. Stand in the circles and build the blueprints they drop. Attack said tower with vigour and high fives all around when you flip it in your favour.
Learn to deal with death, since you will be kissing the ground lots and lots. We all do, there’s no shame in that. Get up, dust yourself off, wipe the tears and pledge your revenge.
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!

…
(nearly 6 months of getting stomped is frustrating, politely put)
…
Trust me, we at FC (and ET) know more about being stomped than anyone else in the NA match ups. And as it continues, finding polite words becomes more and more difficult…
But still we’re having a good time and fighting as hard as we can.
I’m levelling a new character while we’re retaking so much real estate and a DR thief really had to go and kill me with #1 bow skill while I was /sleep(ing) right at his feet…. Dude, whoever you are – gratz on killing an up level without any resistance and hope you got yer badge of honour out of it…
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Fc guys you confuse me so much.. You Consistently hit IoJ, and we only hit you after you hit us. Meanwhile DR continues, day after freaking day to flip every single one of your BL keep and you are concerned only about hitting us. Can you please enlighten me on your logic :l
Wait… what? We only hit you after you us too so that evens it out I suppose.
But if you state that you flip everything day in day out, do you expect us to be fine with that? Of course we’re going to retaliate!
Last night we actually defended garrison against a DR zerg and returned the invasion favour by paying DR BL a visit and stealing Bay from IoJ and getting Garrison and a tower or two.
It’d be great if DR would pay IoJ BL a visit once in a while too, rather than just focussing on FC BL for what I can only imagine is some quick WXP and a little PPT gain, since you seem to not care that we retake it all back fairly easy with the same few people we tried to defend with…

Well, thanks for that – you’re a bigger man than I am. Without jumping to the occasion about some gripe from an FC player you pushed some support this way.
I know all about being on the loosing end and having nothing more than the BL spawn camp to fight for.
I’m just disheartened because when HoD moved down we really had a good matchup. Everyone was around and spending mebbe more hours than they should and burning themselves out? But it all changed when Southsun arrived and HoD took a little break. After that and some boasting from FC and ET’s end, the numbers really turned against us. I think a lot of people lost heart, because just about 2 weeks ago our numbers started to drop in WvW (from my perspective at least). There was no more point to it all because as soon as we recapped our own property, HoD would show up and flip it all to green again just waves and waves of red pounding at the door(s).
I’ll keep on fighting and make you sweat for my death as much as possible. It’s just not so much fun tbh.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
It’s not done yet unless we get some news soon about the random matchups…
In all possibility we’re going to have to be stuck together for at least another week. Well HoD, ET and others from FC that is. I can’t see myself on the battlefield any more while HoD is around. I want to, really… but I just get angry and annoyed by your numbers, sorry. HoD has some really talented players here and there (lately LK is a reason to crack my knuckles for a good fight), but it’s just HoDx40 everywhere all the fracking time! And I hate most that you barge into a tower with lonely me trying to hold off 20 of you and you jump and laugh as if you accomplished something spectacular.
I’ve not fought against more than 3 ET this week because we’re both just tied up with holding off HoD.
I don’t know how we will fair against NSP or DR, but I don’t even want to know any more.
I guess I’m just peeved that every server dropping to T8 got a ton of transfers except FC or ET. What’s up with that?
/end gripe – cya on the battlefield I suppose.

Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
stupid question but is your pet not “dead” perhaps? or does this happen even while attacking at full health?
I assume you’re playing a ranger, since F1 and F2 on necro has nothing to do with pets…
Don’t expect your pet to take out targets single handed though… My pets are just there for F2 and then I really don’t give a hoot what damage they manage to put out.

Why is everyone complaining about getting greens? Free siege, silver and a free chance at a precursor is nothing to be sneezed at. This didn’t exist before today so its all a free bonus for playing wvw.
A dev said lots of ecto’s…
So far I have seen 0…
I think the devs implied that ectos would be obtained from salvaging rares.
I got 6 chests, 2 rares, 1 superior AC and a few greens.

I stick to what I said: Anet should just create a perma stealth button and get it over with. thieves have a little game of their own… while the rest of us play WvW they play stealthy stealthy back stabby back stabby. weeeeeeee! Look maaa I’m invisible!!! wooopyyyy!!!

I still think that areas of influence would solve a lot of zerg ball room dancing. Like the game Black and White you can’t operate outside your area of influence.
In short:
You can’t place siege or attack camps in an area where you don’t have influence. Influence can be spread by taking all the usual capture points as well as the lonesome sentries that does not appear to serve a purpose other than change a flag colour and alerting the enemy to your presence if you so desire. Also capturing the npc assistance (dredge, hylek, etc) increases areas of influence. Adding more sentries all over the map will attract crowds and force a little more open field battle. Percentage influence owned on a map can also count toward the points tick.
EDIT: perhaps camps should still be attackable outside your area of influence, but then a small buff/debuff to health should apply (Like Rise of Nations). Something similar to loosing/gaining health per second as a mango pie would provide? That way roamers can still roam, but at a slight disadvantage.
And also no rez allowed outside your area of influence. /END EDIT
Back to responding to OP:
I agree that siege should cost more to supply to build, but a newly captured tower can only hold 100 supply so a dolyak with 250 supply would be a little too much perhaps and waiting aaaages for the dolyak to arrive just to get the tower upgraded…. well, I’m not so sure what the outcome would be really.
Perhaps dolyak vitality and toughness can be an upgrade at camps, because the escorting guards are worth as much as escorting raccoons.
In stopping the zerg from rushing to destroy ACs and balistas:
siege blueprints for walls (not tower walls, just a little over jump hight walls). I know this is probably a bad idea and one would probably find walls all over the place (which might even be a good thing to have the players restructuring the landscape to their own advantage)
If we could build sections of walls to shut access to ACs and balistas, it would enable the defenders to fire a few more shots before succumbing to the red wave of death.

Sooooooo still miss HoD?
Actually we on FC do miss HoD. We miss the HoD that came down to T8 not the HoD that uses 2 trillion arrow carts on every tower, the HoD that didn’t count only on numbers but skill level. So to sum it up, yeah we miss you, the version of you that was fun to fight.
Let me tell you a fun fact about your server, and this is coming from the bottom of my heart.
Your prime time zerg. Is kittening massive. I think that zerg you guys run in EB (And im talking about FC) is larger than even when I was on Darkhaven.
Since our prime times seem to be different on the weekdays, I bet you can guess why we build arrow carts in our towers.
So i’m having a hard time understanding how you expect HoD to man up and show some skill, when there’s atleast 35+ of you knocking on our door, and 10 of us in our tower. Since ArenaNet made large masses of people easy mode, not really a whole lot that few can do against those odds.
Now if HoD and FC both have their primetime zergs running around, that’s a different story.
When you have this for forces and you still need to build arrow carts, it’s not manpower you are compensating for.
And I’m yet to witness that FC zerg size. I think you have a few of our commanders to thank – They act as 4 players each … And Linda is a mesmer so that counts as 10.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
It’s funny ‘cause you didn’t mention rangers since… well they are rangers.
Youre right, its unfair rangers get a pet, whats with that horse poopymagog!?!
We need to take the rangers pet away too, no class should have anything that makes them different from the others, because thats just stupid and 1 class will end up being good at something and another wont be as good at the same thing, and my mommy said Im special and I can do whatever I want.
Actually I would not mind a “put the fracking pet away permanently” option for my ranger. Pets to me are more trouble than they’re worth always getting me into combat when I’m trying to turn tail and run.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Welcome to FC and hope you stick around for good
Zerg all day everyday is just a hoax but I’m glad HoD get’s that impression – it means our reaction times to their assaults are good. But we tried defending our EB keep with about 5 people two days ago against a HoD zerg of at least 20+ with a few golems: fail by default, but that was not even prime time so they definitely have the numbers when they need it… back to topic…
FC night crew is epic and you should get stay up a few nights to meet our friendly Australian players.
Our commanders are nice guys and gals although we could use a few more during Aus late night and US early morning switch over. (then again we could use a few more players during EU prime in general).
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
If it’s like 20 laurels and 250 or 500 badges for 1 amulet, then that’s completely bullkitten.
If it’s something like 10 laurels and 100-200 badges, then, that will be interesting.
Also, concerning the infusions, wait and see, hope there will be cool ones.I think badge cost should definitely be 500+. I’m world rank 30 or so, and have over 2000 unused badges even though I already spent ~800. Since a lot of people played a lot more WvW than I have, both before and after rank got introduced, 100-200 would be a ridiculously low amount for ascendeds. Even PvE players would probably go for the WvW ones then, since doing the JP for badges would be faster than doing fractals / more dailies.
I basically used up all my badges on siege… now to start saving badges and buying siege with gold or JP???
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Biggest problem with WvW is WvW. If they did not create WvW there would be nothing to complain about. So remove WvW and you have yourself one problem solved.
If they remove WvW the game will have very short history if u mean by this Pve brainless running around and Spvp are the only gamemodes. WvW is fine idea and backbone of gw2 when ppl get tired of grind and farm non active world bosses.
Heh, I was just being sarcastic. I think as long as WvW exist there will always be gripes about what does/does not exist in the game and how it can be improved.
I agree that WvW could probably be the game’s greatest asset and perhaps a voting poll should be opened by Anet before deploying any new content. Let us (the early WvWers) decide which content they should add/remove from WvW in order to offer a better experience to the players in years to come.

Oh well, I’ll just accept stealth then – thieves win. No reaction from Anet here and it looks like there are too many of us with L2 kitten ues. We just need more time to L2P because 9 months is too short to learn the ropes. So I would appreciate if thieves take it easy on us for another 9 months… perhaps that would help us overcome this terrible learning curve.
I’ve come to the conclusion that rendering could be a big setback and even though thieves might be “visible” for 3 seconds, I only really see them for 1 second. Perhaps many others have the same issue. TAB targeting is not an option to target the not-yet-rendered thief since we all know that TAB targeting cycles through all wildlife on map first, then walls, then gates, then wildlife on other maps, basically anything you can see or not see except the target you actually want to engage. Add some of the recent lag issues to the mix and you have yourself some of the worst conditions to fight against a thief.
Thieves win, Anet wins – I concede. There is nothing wrong with stealth, just leave it as is. In fact it’s wonderful, it shines with radiance. Anet should actually buff stealth: make thieves perma invisible and get it over with. Just one click for perma stealth so that thieves have more skill slots open in stead of using up slots to gain stealth. Then these poor squishy thieves that have no real function in WvW will perhaps be a more lucrative profession to play…
In fact I’m rolling one now in anticipation!!! Woohoo #2, #2, #2…

I maintain that adding new maps is not a problem at all. They already have tons of PvE maps, just add in a few towers and keeps and voila.
It would add a totally new dynamic to the game if Divinity’s Reach was a WvW map. Upper levels, lower levels, close courters. It does not have to be a camp—>supply—>tower—>dolyak type game either. It could be focussed on small control zones which increase your area of influence (points) almost like Black & White. You mean spvp thatsvwhat your describing gumin
Ahhh I was waiting for that reply… yes sPvP… why did I not think of that. This whole thread is a bout boredom with WvW so let’s just go sPvP then. But let’s do it all at the same time and pretend we’re 100 on the map…

With the proper preparation and full berserker set a guardian can do a 16k burst in a second… OP omg nerf pls
I should also mention about the time 2 mesmers and a thief attacked me in EBG jumping puzzle at the open area before the second stealth fountain. My group healing spec guardian ripped them apart. This post is so full of people getting killed by 1 class then complaining. Yes, I also murdered a group of 3 people on my thief a couple of times. They are most likely all here now complaining.
Look for solo engi videos and start qq’ing about 40 seconds of 25 stacks of might, 2k crits with autoattack on a ptv spec class. About 10 seconds of block uptime and 15 stacks of confusion which does 3k damage for each skill use.
You don’t get killed because the other class is overpowered, it’s because you’re bad
I played a burst damage guardian for a while and it was good, but a lot of players are up to the task and can pretty much avoid the bulk of my burst. Good players can pretty much anticipate your burst build just by seeing that one handed sword equipped. Fact is they could see me coming and prepare. Thieves you can’t see and can’t prepare other than running around with your trigger finger ready on the aegis button 24/7 for that moment you hear the unmistakable cling-cling out of nowhere.
Any profession can burst to an extent any profession can tank to an extent, some professions can use stealth to their advantage to an extent but only one profession can fool around 10 players by popping stealth every 3 seconds.
Be that as it may. I think I’ve griped about thieves enough now and just except death from them as I except underestimating the height of a cliff – respawn and carry on gaming. I sometimes don’t even fight back and just let the thief kill without resistance so the he can take he’s badges and move on.
I’m just surprised that this thread has so many posts with so much drama, bickering, moaning, complaining, QQs and not a word from Anet to say “we agree with this” or “don’t agree with that”. Just a bunch of silly old WvW players hankittenging – don’t mind them…. their words and thoughts don’t mean anything… all this thief business will blow over soon…

I really don’t intend to rub salt in HoD wounds here, but I’m actually glad the situation is like it is now. There were so many hounds barking at our T8 threads and tbh SF even did not have such a jolly time when they first arrived. They got a good influx just before the free transfer timer ran out… GoM proved their worth but now they are gaining the upper hand in T7 so I imagine that they deserved winning T8 but it was certainly not a stomping or a walk in the park for them.
All those T8 threads (threats) are now unfounded and I’m glad FC and ET kept on fighting through all the tough times.

The only 2 exotics ever dropped for me was in WvW…. but that does not mean that the overall quality of drops in WvW blows my hair back. Not at all. Getting a green drop raises in eyebrow to be honest. I’d be happy just to get more coin drops in WvW so I can keep up with the upgrade costs.
EDIT: and there’s a reason nobody fights “the grub” in WvW: Time/Effort vs Reward stinks!! If that grub could act as a dragon PvE event then people would not treat it like anything less than a white-ish rock. Or if the stinky reward remains then lvl down that sucker a little so that it could be killed by 2 or 3 in no more than 10 minutes.

From my time zone’s point of view:
Well I really thought that HoD went away on a PvE break with the Southsun content and it never occurred to me that people are transferring or boycotting WvW.
From my point of view and I’m sure 99% of the players that are online with me there is no team effort going against HoD. Since I’ve played WvW FC has never been green which means that a large number of players only got their map completion this week when we owned the green keep (including me!!). To wait for map completion this long is agonising and you better be sure that when we get the chance we’re going to take it.
There have been numerous unsuccessful pushes on green keep and red keep. More success with red keep because historically all the green servers we faced were just loaded with numbers. But FC and ET are always in combat. ET is always pushing on the Ogre camp, Umberglade and Durios Tower just as HoD is always pushing on Heyleck, Danelon and Quinten tower.
Please keep in mind that FC (and I’m sure ET) are for the first time in months part of a competitive battle in WvW. That might mean that we’re focussing our efforts more on green since we actually can for a change, but it does not mean that we’re intent on ignoring each other to team up against HoD.
FC is at a space now where our communication is very good and reaction times to send people between maps is fast. We don’t have zergs and zergs. We just mobilize fast and react as best we can. It seems that we’re doing a good job of it if ET and HoD think we have many zergs all over the place.
HoD, please don’t loose heart or focus on your WvW efforts and keep on keepin’ on. If you suddenly find yourself in a place where you need to rebuild, just keep in mind that both FC and ET had to do the same many times over.
Keep the faith.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
It’s not a conspiracy, after last night it was clear FC and ET were not attacking one another.
Not true, I was on last night (GMT +2) and we made a serious push on ET keep twice and lost.
In between all the madness we just did our best to ensure that HoD don’t get their foot in the door. I was not online when HoD keep was conquered but I know that ET fought tooth and nail to hang on to theirs and as a result could hang on to the surrounding towers much easier.
While most of our attention was holding on to property in EB, ET paid a visit to our BL while HoD BL remained rather unscathed by both ET and FC. So nononono, no conspiracy – just perception at the wrong times of observation. In fact, we we’re just talking last night about the ET/FC alliance that lasted about 30 seconds when SF was keeping all the maps a single uniform green colour.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Understood and I do try not to have my back exposed most of the time, but to go ahead and waste endurance just to get away from an invisible target? So woopy your only invis for 3 seconds, but you have the initiative on attack. We can take a “best guess” approach but never really know where the next attack is coming from. So you get to attack and we don’t get to counter attack because you vanish again asap. Running away from a thief fight is not an option. So stand there and fight is all we can do. Die when it goes bad, tap myself on the shoulder when it goes good. Thieves tap themselves on the should when it goes good, run away and reset the fight when it goes bad. (because let’s be honest – a thief only dies in a 1v1 when they over extend and get arrogant about their skillz.) But they’re always still around…. aaaaalwaaaays still around… somewhere…. just waiting to stab us in the back. When we think we can go on again with our game: TADAAAAAA here’s that thief again, cling-cling-cling-cling…. that’s when I start hating you guys sooo bad. A good kind of hate, but hate none the less.
Actually, unless that person is otherwise blocking or camping an objective of mine (such as he’s soloing a camp and I’m the only thing between him and success), if I’ve engaged once or twice and had to escape I generally don’t hang around. At that point it’s time to /bow and find a new (preferably squishier) playmate. The whole premise of the thief class against groups is about harassing the enemy, leading/pulling/deterring them if possible, and general demoralization. We’re really not entirely all that effective otherwise in a mass combat sense. That’s the part that makes me wonder why we’re such a big deal. We aren’t by any means bringing home bigger bacon points-wise than anyone else. Quite the opposite actually.
Honourable, but afaik that makes one of you… al this pages and pages of hype around thieves and stealth is not just some sort of gripe players have with a class they can’t beat (hence the recent string of OP spoof topics). There are many, many, many thieves that thrive on constantly griefing spawns and keep exits. Yes, to be a pain in the back, I’m sure and kudos to them. But with no mechanic of fighting back it sucks. 1v1 I’ve never encountered a thief like you who would call it a day and break off for the next meal. My 1v1s out in the open with a thief always results in a death by either party.
Now two thieves…. even more of a pain. Because of the stealth spike I’ve seen two good thieves take out groups of 10 or more – and don’t think they’re going to move on anytime soon. These guys will hang around keep exits for hours if entertained with the string of ants piling out to defend SM. Good job, yes. That’s good tactics keeping the support out of the defence, but heck. No chance of 10 fighting back against 2?
So arguments that thieves are little worth in a zerg is pointless since they can basically eliminate a small group with just 2 of them. 2vZerg and thieves win? That’s just wrong man. Once, mebbe. Twice, getting annoying! Time and time again? Not right. Two zerker warriors won’t last 10 seconds against 10 enemies.
So we gotta look at some sort of class balance. If it makes thieves happy then take a random boon when you exit stealth or even 3 or even 10 if you like, but let’s be able to fight back for heavens’ sake. Just for 30 seconds every now and then….
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
All good. I don’t even mind if they nerf all other classes to 1K health and 10 toughness. As long as there is a mechanic to reveal thieves (even though it’s really a rare occasion).
I know to you thieves the 3 second visible between stealths feels like an age, but we have to find you first (1sec), then target you (1sec TAB targeting between all the wildlife or 1.5sec horrid double click targeting), then let loose my best attack (1 sec cast time at least). so there you go, thief gone before anything hits… I have to hunker down and wait… and pray… in plain sight… with no shoes… in the snow… while you guys lol in behind us.Likewise, the 3 seconds we’re invisible to you guys may seem like ages (cause all stealth skills except Shadow Refuge are only 3 seconds long. Don’t believe? Look ‘em up The one with the shortest cooldown actually requires us to get all up close and snuggly to hit you for kittens sake). If you’re standing there just waiting during that time however, you’re just asking to get shanked. You know the thiefs last location, step backwards from that point, dodging back as well if you really feel the need. He’ll almost have to debuff stealth before reaching you. I emphasize the moving backwards part, turning your back to a thief is a huge no-no, as many thief skills double damage from behind.
Also, don’t be afraid to spam your base attack while kiting. May make you look a little silly swiping at the air, but despite common belief we do take damage while stealthed.
(because let’s be honest – a thief only dies in a 1v1 when they over extend and get arrogant about their skillz.) - Boon trap – clears all existing and new boons for the next 30 seconds (Guardians)
- Sticky Hands trap – weapon swap/attunements cannot be switched for 30 seconds (Elementalist)
- Pet trap – pet instantly dies and pet swap goes on cooldown for 30 seconds (Rangers)
- Clone trap – clones and phantasms cannot be created for 30 seconds (Mesmers)
- Bundle trap – kits cannot be equipped or used for 30 seconds (Engineers)
- Condition trap – conditions and lifesteal cannot be used for 30 seconds (Necro)
- Flashbang trap – all heavy armour attacks will miss for 30 seconds (Warrior/Guardian)
All of these traps sound unfair to the impacted professions because they are.
“Stealth trap – can’t stealth for 30 seconds” is just as unfair as any of the traps listed above.
As far as I am aware, thieves are one of the weaker and least played professions in tournament PvP because everyone in tPvP has already learnt2play. So it sounds like everyone who thinks thieves have “OP mechanics” need to L2P.
Your last comment: PvP is not WvW. Lots and lots of thieves in WvW because the mechanics are not as limiting in WvW as they are in PvP. Never a L2 kitten ue when you have 1 thief able to kite around 10 people because of stealth.
I play mesmer, ranger, guardian, necro and would welcome any of your listed traps with open arms it matters not because I know I won’t trigger these traps every 5 yards. If I die, I die. WP and carry on. Thieves just don’t like dying because they regard themselves as immortal because of stealth. Honestly you might trigger on of these traps in open fields once per day, I just don’t see people spamming the landscape with traps just to reveal thieves for 30 seconds.
Now I do like the traps because it can actually prevent a thief from camping outside spawn and willy nilly pick their targets as people run out into the battle field. So you get a stealth nerf for 30 seconds, big deal. Just run away like you normally do, but this time just in plain sight.
But I never expected the OMG you broke our profession retorts too good!

Mostly what everyone else said so far.
But don’t think that you can’t contribute to WvW if you’re not lvl 80 yet! Thieves thrive on lone runners and you can expect to be stealth stomped in no time when you encounter a thief as an up level. Make piece with that and don’t run out in the same area as they will stand and wait for you to do exactly that.
There are karma vendors in WvW too where you can purchase better gear relatively cheaply while you level up. Don’t spend too much though. While levelling I never buy gear with gold and only from these guys if I don’t find a good drop within 5 or so levels. You can purchase low level signets and sigils relatively cheaply from the trading post, but I insert gems in gear while levelling since you recycle gear fairly often.
regarding the acronyms:
Orr – a PvE place where everything is dead (including the game). It’s the place where you spend karma on gear when the merchants are available at the temples… which they are not 99.9% of the time.
EB – Eternal Battlegrounds. The middle map where all 3 teams fight over SM/SMC (Stone Mist Castle) which is a difficult task to get and even harder to hold on to. If you’re lucky you might witness a 5 minute break when this place not being trebbed from the red keep. But this is a great place to have a WP (way point) to get to the middle of the map (that is IF the WP is available when not being contested/trebbed from the red keep).
BL – Border Lands. Every team has one and it should be (mostly) the color of your team. 90% of the time some other team is on control of the bottom camps and sometimes the towers. Take it back, wait for it to change color in a few minutes, rinse and repeat.
LA – some city (Lion’s Arch) where everyone appears on reset night for a few minutes. expect to see some costume brawl action while you wait for the game to continue.
TP – Trading Post. If you have any money this is Where you buy consumables and if you wish: weapons, armor, rings, amulets, signets and sigils.
LS – Look Sharp. This is what you do when you purchase all the pink dyes and go out into the world to display your splendour. (Heh, honestly I dunno what LS means.)
Zerg – the sea of red that makes depresses you on sight. Derived from “The Zerg” race in Starcraft. A race that could win any fight by pushing sheer numbers into battle… continously… until everyone else is dead or running. If you see a large number of green dots on your map – that is YOUR zerg and a good place to be if you want to gain levels in WvW. The green dot’s normally surround a blue dorito. This is your commander and he’s trying to organize the war. Know his name so that you can see when he speaks in map chat or join a VoIP (Voice over IP) channel like TS (Team Speak) to get real time information about what your commander is actually trying to accomplish.

I don’t know what effect the stealth reveal traps will offer, but until then I will continue to hate (enemy) thieves because of the simple-to-use “run away if things are not going your way” mechanic. Whenever any player enters into stealth it should spark an AoE break in combat. That way I can get my out of combat health regain fast enough and not rely on a 30 sec cool down for a teensy bit of added health to be taken away whenever the thief decides it’s time for (yet) another stealth back stab.
If the thief breaks combat with stealth, why should he be the only one gaining a benefit? I don’t mind if the increase the damage a thief does by 100%, just let’s get a fair face to face fight at least 50% of the time please.
…and it’s not really “stealth”, it’s “vanish”. Stealth is remaining hidden until spotted. Vanish is disappearing into thin air right in the middle of combat with no counter measure.

Best thing ever. xD
WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH, WOAH! So if I understood this video correctly, Lukian is actually Hitler and Zerguson’s Cowards are actually the SS? HoD we must team up in an attempt to crush this evil tyrant and send his troops along to hell with him! lol, just remembered there’s a guild in FC named Reich [SS], as well XD.
haha good times…
Well I doubt very much Hitler had a jukebox playing some cool tunes in the background. (if he had would it be the lEEtBoX? lil TS joke there).
“Zerguson’s Cowards” hurts me deep inside man. Obviously you’ve not tasted my Norn Ranger’s arrows of mass bleeding? She fights to the end – every time! Outmanned, outclassed, out-thieved…. TO THE EEEEEENNNNDDDD! EDIT: unless of course we’re doing a tactical advance in the opposite direction…

WvW is for guilds and randoms to join and play together you dont need a reward but you do get a lot loot I get around 15 gold per hour farming with my guild and a lot karma badges to buy stuffs so basically you only need to play a proper WvW and you can get everything you want.
You get 15 gold per hour from WvW?
Must be a typo… otherwise I want in on that train!

You can also ask yourself what’s the purpose of PvE… There’s really no purpose but to have fun. If the game touched my bank account or world peace then there would be a real purpose right there.
If purely cosmetic then yes, PvE and PvP trumps WvW but I don’t know anyone in WvW who has issues with cosmetics. The question is are you spiking or being spiked and was it fun?
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
The only thing that annoys me is there should be some way to defeat golems quick and easy.
Another tower/keep upgrade component suggestion I made a long time ago in the suggestions thread: Mine fields only golems can trigger. If one mine can take out 1 golem and they are randomly place around doors then that would at least turn a group of 6 golems into 3 real quick….
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
My suggestion is to add an additional upgrade to towers/keeps that would create AoE areas on the walls that grant stability/regeneration/null field. This way you won’t be pulled off walls if you’re the only single defender against a zerg or you’d have a bit of a sporting chance when manning a cannon, rather than getting in one or two hits and then run off to cry to your mommy full of conditions and pain.
Create a tunnel between the Citadel and NE/NW towers. That way trying to pierce the zerg to get into the towers to defend won’t be a lost cause.
I agree with OP that NPC defenders are worthless. Need some serious attention there – they should be wielding superior weapons or something (maybe cause multiple long duration conditions?), because I can stand nekked in the line of fire of an NPC piano wire archer all day with a smile on my face.
Further to keep/tower upgrades – add an upgrade option to add those wooden hirati spikes all around the tower to prevent enemy players getting close enough to range attack and purely rely on siege to destroy defences. Or make it so that player attacks deal zero damage to doors. A group of 20 players and PvD a door to bits faster than a ram can – King Arthur would not be much impressed if 20 bandits could chop away at Camelot’s front doors while calmly communicating to stack and gain might/regeneration.
Make the ledges of tower walls sloped so that rangers can (for the love of Dwayna) shoot back down at rangers shooting up without tiptoeing to the very last rendered pixel…. and then get pulled off by a mesmer with a smirk on his face.

OP: at least you got out into the open world my introduction to WvW was being spawn camped…
The fun is what you make of it, but start by taking or defending camps.
You should do that easy with 5 low level (less than lvl 30) players. You get badges, xp and drops. Don’t have 4 other players around? head to Bay and map chat “omg zerg inc bay! about 50”…. you should see a few green dots pop up all around you and then head out to take briar camp (which is probably owned by the enemy 50% of the time).
If you see a zerg approaching, don’t run – just wp back to safety asap and report where and how many you saw.
Don’t go out solo in WvW unless you want to gather, get skill points, pois or vistas (last two only in towers\keeps you own). Don’t go out solo in WvW to look for a fight – unless you’re an uber player with uber gear, you’re gonna get hurt.
Try and sneak in a tower take over with your 5 man group. You fail: oh well… you succeed: high fives all around.
Do some camp ninja tricks on enemy BLs.
Stick with the zerg for as long as you feel comfortable. Maybe you don’t feel like your presence is not noticed, but that’s just the nature of the beast. Every number counts and you can tap yourself on the back for being one of the 50 that just took that camp
There are some things in WvW that has to be done for the team but is not fun at all:
Don’t treb SM for 3 hours
Don’t do supply runs to rapair SM wall that the other team has been trebbing for 3 hours
Don’t escort dolyaks
I don’t mind these tasks because I have enough skill points/xp/karma to last me a lifetime…
Best tip for low levels: be sure to have level appropriate weapons and gear (anything that has +toughness, +power, +health) and buy food!!!
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
So Egg and FSU fought. Egg was impressed and said: “hey lil fella, come over to our side we like rolling weaker servers” and FSU said: “Yess massster”.
If they (Egg) was so impressed, why not fight them again? So who they gonna fight now? Stupid, pointless, degrading.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Well WvW started off very casual for me and in the early days after release it was just a place I went to investigate my prowess against other players… Lately it’s basically become an obsession and I can’t stand the fact that other servers are taking camps/towers/keeps that I helped conquer. I think that’s just unavoidable and human nature: GIVE BACK WHAT IS MINE!!! Even though WvW players are not rich, we are not poor either but the costs of upgrades and siege are shared by the community.
WvW is a serious place for many, many players and even though Anet initiated it as a casual mode of gaming, it certainly is not in it’s current state. RvR is big part of online gaming and becoming even bigger and better. Anet will have to make sure that GW2 is any RvR initiates 1st port of call and will have to retract the “casual” outlook towards WvW if they want the biggest slice of the pie.
As for the “hardcore” players: I thank my lucky stars for them and /bow to each and everyone of them. If not for them WvW would be a place where re-capping camps in your own BL would be what casual players are left to do. Because of these hardcore players already ensuring that my team always has BL under control, I can join in the offensive fight and enjoy the best that WvW has to offer!
