imho the scoring is fine – we all understand it by now and tampering with it for certain circumstances will just add confusion and probably outrage after 2 days of implementation…
On the point of alliances, I suggest that when a server pulls ahead by a certain margin (say 20K) the other two servers will get prompted to vote for an alliance (1/2/3 hours). If the vote is > 50% then take the average time the players voted for and the two alliance servers will not be able to attack one another or damage towers/keeps. Alliance will start after 30mins (or whatever time period)… Once the alliance ends, another vote can take place.
Also when a server falls behind more than 100k (they are totally out of the race at this stage), severely limit the player cap of apposing servers to their bl. Thus the obviously less populated server can step out of their bl and enjoy more of the game rather than just feeding the dominant servers with ppt. or defend garrison with 2 players and reg ac vs. 10 golems.
First and foremost I really think Anet needs to be more “hands on” with the matchup line ups. Draw stats for each of the 3 main time zones and find a best match per server. Maguuma should never have been in the gold league, but because glicko said so, they are on the loosing streak for I dunno how long now. Surely a manual intervention could have placed them in a T3 match looong ago to see how weak they really are pitted against the likes of YB.
In short: get stats, analyze stats, implement stats = proper matchups. Glicko is a fail, even after adding some “random” portion to it. Let’s face it, if you have to manipulate glicko in order to “mix things up a bit” then it’s already a fail. Why stick with it as if it’s the be all and end all of match line ups?
PS. Disabled siege should be invulnerable if you gonna stick with disablers

lost of discussions end up in what can ranger do better than any other class can’t already do and fulfill multiple roles at the same time?
Given a 3v3 fight vs ranger, thief, warrior – which will you target first? 3v3 vs mesmer, guardian, ranger – which will you target first? yup, ranger. Ranger is always prime target because they are the “easiest” target. So you might be a wonderful player, but you’re always going to be #1 target if you play ranger and thus be viewed as a liability to your group.
20v20 ranger needs
1) At least 2 more AoE fears
2) Barrage shorter CD with torment rather than cripple or up the damage to be close to ele meteor shower
3) Rampage as one should apply to 5 allies (same as call of the wild)
4) Call of the Wild should apply 5 stacks of might
5) Spike trap should be active for 5s with bleeding increased to 10s
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
First and foremost: Edge of the Mists is NOT WvW… It’s a karma train and you should expect nothing less. Zerg blobs deliberately avoid one another 90% of the time in order to speed up the karma train and exchange objectives.
The real WvW:
Sticking on commander is not required to fully enjoy WvW at all. The “Stack on me!” is normally in open field to blast finish static fields for speed. Before a zerg v zerg fight blast finish fire fields for might. (Just check out what 25 stacks of might does to your power/condi damage)
But by the sound of it, you are in need of small/roaming group action. Normally on borderlands is where you will meet up with other roaming groups. Flipping camps and the odd tower is your key to being a general pain in the rear for your opponents. You are provoking opponents to come out and fight and if you are lucky you get 1v1, 2v2… 5v5 something like that. If you are proving to bee too much of a thorn in the opponent’s side they might send a zerg your way…. how long can you hold lake/briar tower against a enemy zerg with your 5 man group? Can you upgrade said towers to fortified? Can you siege it up with X trebs and X sup ac’s?
You’d probably have to get fingers dirty by soloing camps\towers…. you will soon see who the usual players are you run into doing the same thing. Join their guild, or just friend them and start running together.
Hop on the commander tag anytime you see your zerg going for keeps. Could be zerg vs keep lord, or you might just find yourself in a 1hr battle for bay\hills\garrison.
If all you are interested in is 1v1 fights, then head to a bl south camp by the windmill. This is the unofficial duel spot. The official duel spot is in OS.

Only a WvW Player knows What N, NC, NWT, NET, BAY, HILLS, Watercamp, S, Vale, VT,INC , 3 camp 9 camp 6 camp, stack really mean. my personal fav ( FFS).
Further to this… only a WvW player has to open map when somebody says “zerg at [Ascension Bastion] / [ Askalion Bastion]”

But PvE gear was always used in WvW. Stick to a zerg and you should be fine. Roaming will probably not work out well for you, but you can flip camps with a buddy and contribute in that regard if you want. dueling normally does not include stomping. If I see an even fight, I normally stand and watch for the outcome. If enemy player goes in for the stomp, I interfere.
Large contributing factor to my jumping into a “fair fight” depends if enemy is a thief… If so, they can quickly reset their duel.
But I agree with most posts, if you wanna duel: go do it somewhere else…

I think it might be time for a new currency: Failed Defense Karma…
Fail Karma traders will only sell legendary weapons for a cost of 1 fk each, but they will also always bug out on the transaction. For every failed purchase, a new Fail Karma trader will spawn on a random location in wvw maps.

Apparently names are over rated in the “advanced” party list, because you know, knowing who has what buffs/debuffs or is being attacked isn’t important, right? /end rant
For that reason my UI feels even more cluttered… otherwise I would use the simple option
We need an “Alliance” feature like in GW1. Allow guilds to form Alliances with one another, and provide them with an Alliance chat.
Agreed, but the chat has to be in phosphor brown.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
No, not “spike the punch” party suggestion…
Multiple party suggestion:
Still keep 5man parties, but enable multiple parties to combine. You will see your 4 party member’s ugly mugs on your screen and then have another similar icon showing party 2, party 3, party 4 (think 4 parties is enough). (You won’t have 20 ugly mug shots on your screen – only your 4 party members’ and 3 other icons of the other 3 parties.)
All parties would read the same party chat.
Dots on map can even be color coded for each “merged” party. Say, neon pink, shocking purple, shutter yellow.
Why?
So that you can see more than 4 other blue dots roaming around on map – guilds can form multiple parties and know their locations on maps rather than to ask “where are you guys?”… “gtg brb”…. “so where are you guys now?”… “kids… brb” … “back again, where are you guys?”

Really…in a fantasy world where mesmers can port…why do forts even have doors?
Because mesmers need to get inside the fort to port people in… We know some mesmers that don’t need to break doors for that, but that’s another story…
You missed my gist.
Think about it…if you were a King and had to build an impregnable fort, and you had access to magic users who could teleport people in and out of your Fort…why not set up a system where you always had a Guard (mesmer) on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to leap down and port your people inside your fort?
Just second here…. there are “doors” that let friendly players inside – they are the same color of your server and real easy to use. If you really don’t want to use the doors/colored portals then i guess you can wait around for a mesmer to show up and beg him to port you in. Or you can wait for the enemy to capture your keep, then bang your head against the door endlessly until it breaks and enter again if there was no friendly mesmer hiding inside to port you in.
If I were a king and had a fort, I’d still build doors but very politely ask a suspicious army if they plan on spending the night or invading my castle. That will help me decide if i want to open the door or not. :P
EDIT: to add to that, if I were a king and expect my mesmer’s who spend many, many years perfecting the art of magic to act as doors, I’m pretty sure they’d want a some proper compensation for their services. A grunt with a lever will probably be the more cost efficient solution. Thinking about it… I’m willing to patrol gar with my mesmer 12/7 for my server if they pay me 100g per day for the occasional port.

Hang in there. If it’s “your server” stick with it. I’ve been on FC in the days when Kaineng had nothing else to do but spawn camp us in our BL and I’m still on FC and very glad I endured the storm. There are certain contacts and friendships that are brewed over months of fighting side by side. Transferring just does not offer that same sense of belonging. I transferred to a high pop server a few weeks before the season started to see how “they” strategize and it really was not the same.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
By now it is clear that HoD is the server who will walk away with all matches won.
Second place might be decided in the final week between SF and DH.
But top four will probably be the servers at the top four right now namely: HoD, SF, DH, FC.
Season mathcups:
HoD vs FC 3 times
HoD vs SF 2 times
HoD vs DH 1time
You might argue that DH faces off against SF 2 times and against SF faced FC only once, but DH has a fighting chance against SF but HoD is beating the pants off SF at the moment. HoD is hands down the strongest server in this season and FC has the fortune of facing them more than any of the other top contenders….
I guess my point here is that FC got “Anetted”… again….

Hi HoD,
Here’s a picture of one of your commanders who killed me inside Langor, whith ac blueprints in my hand…. (FC owned it at the time).
He tried to spike me twice and when I got up with downed #3 he jumped out of the tower. And you all followed him around like lil sheep to QL and onward – shame on you.You should know who he is, because a lot of people followed him around.
Good show – jump in kill a defender and jump out – way to command!
Where are you in this picture? Because if you say you got up with vengeance, how did he try to spike you 2x? Did you run out of tower and vengeance back in? Because your screenshot just shows a Charr in tower and target isn’t a Charr., and you are inside tower, he is not… I however have pics of enemies running through walls, but get infracted if post them.
Edit: If you are the Charr, I want to be able to zoom that far out… Lol
For what it’s worth replying at this stage…
I’m the Charr, yes. Zoom distance is due to camera angle around the supply depot. Spike attempt #1 before I interrupted with downed state #2. Spike attempt #2 before I got up with downed #3 – point is it was fully intentional to spike me INSIDE the tower. He jumped out over the wall from about where my character is in the screenshot because I took half his glassy behind’s health away with a few swings of 100blades when I got up.

Are you saying that he hacked into the tower to kill you? If so, I hope you reported him. HoD will not stand cheaters in our ranks.
From your picture he is a Henge of Denravi Assaulter… Sounds like a PvE commander to me. lol
I’m not allowed to say he hacked in, but I guess it should be clear enough by implication. I did report… but dunno if that really works. The “big report box in the sky” is the receiver of many prayers of which few are answered.

Lots of blah-blah-we-so-skilled-blah-blah-core-group from HoD’s side.
You’re basically telling us that due to your skill, knowledge, experience and co-ordination you are winning this matchup, but do admit that your larger numbers contribute to that. Fact: Larger numbers wins 90% of the time when PvD-ing.
I hoped that after the weekend madness the HoD numbers would subside, but your Oceanic presence is huge too.
I don’t take anything away from your lead, but please don’t try and flatter yourself by stating that FC has the same numbers as you do and that you only manage your player spread better. That’s BS. HoD has skilled players, true, but so does FC and Kaineng. HoD is not wonderful by any means. You have the numbers, you apply it, you win. End of the discussion.

Absolutely – get on the karma train or get out!
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
I read posts about GvG not actively participating in the game and thus should be viewed “against the rules of conduct”. Now I’m not involved in any GvG but I have no gripe with them. I’m sure that none of them actually do ONLY GvG fights in WvW and are contributing to the WvW matchup at stages? Do you want to count people crafting in WvW into the “against the rules of conduct” category? Then remove the crafting stations in WvW… how about people afk at spawn just taking a bit of a breather? Wanna get them banned for running to McDonalds? People camping in towers which happens not to be attacked for hours? They are not contributing to WvW any more than GvG actually gaining spike points…
GvG are practising and refining tactics that count toward the whole server when they actually do carry on in the WvW matchup.
GvG should not be seen as anything less than open field combat in WvW and there should surely be a place for this in WvW. Let them do what they do best and just hope you have a well oiled guild in your zerg in critical battles.

This would be great, since I hate sitting at work and watching my team’s BL get invaded and I can’t do anything about it. But I’m afraid it can’t be implemented. If said team already owns the entire EB, what do you expect them to do for some WvW action? I’m pretty sure they won’t be all that happy with killing the grub day in and day out for the sake of leaving unprotected property out of the mix…
I actually wish they never had EU servers to start with. (I know, again, not possible to constrain the entire world to NA pings). But it sure would make WvW a better competition if all servers where on one time zone and many more server match up permutations could exist.

While I do try and take time out to respond to posts in our forums, it is also the case that time spent on the forums is time not spent getting something else done. Right now, we have a lot of balls in the air, so it’s less possible for us to post frequently.
Hi Devon,
While I (and I’m sure “We”) appreciate you response, I certainly hope that, while you might not be responding to forum posts frequently, that you and the rest of the WvW development team actually read the forums frequently?
This is where the action, suggestions and WvW passion is communicated from the WvW community. Right here on Anet’s very own GW2 forum. I would certainly hate that all the effort and thoughts of the community just disappear into “the big archive in the sky” without developers reading through some of the very good and justified comments that the community makes.
If we don’t get feedback we feel ignored, if we feel ignored how can we be certain that we’re assisting Anet to turn WvW into the best possible product on the market?
I understand that feeding information to the public would turn speculation into expectation and possible disappointment and rage. But all we were ever asking for is “we’re looking into this” and “we’re not considering that”. From all the feedback provided by the Anet customers on this forum can we perhaps get an indication which actually made it onto the drawing board and which ended up in the bin?
I, for one, appreciate all the recent changes made to WvW, but it’s giving out free ice cream rather than a paid trip to Disney Land that we’re all really craving. We’re happy and all that, but playing WvW can be turned into a much better experience rather than getting the (mostly green) rewards of our efforts.

I’ve fought a couple of really good thieves from ET lately and although I absolutely despise thieves and their constant stealthing, it certainly does not mean they are worthless in group battles. Some of these ET thieves rely less on stealth and more on condition damage (dat pistol…) and use stealth only as an evade but still remain in the fight rather than running away to a safe reset distance. If not for well of power, I’d be a dead man hundred times over without hear the awful, yet very familiar, sounds of #2#2#2#2

Huge respect dude, you are one mad scientist and crazy survivable. Tons of times I felt that I just needed 1 more hit to get you down and yet you’d still hang in there with probably 2 health to fight the good fight
ET you need to stay on this guy. He was fighting alone in our group too many times and we could take your group down over and over. Equip your dorito glue and you’d create absolute havoc.

OK, OK – *G*oM it is then. But I’m keeping my print-screen finger on stand by…
There’s proof that GoM does not purely attack FC and leaving AR alone in this thread so my accusations are unwarranted as far as facts on the table are concerned.
My personal opinion remains unchanged, though.
This talk of opposing servers running into FC glass is worrying though. It might also be a case of people levelling in WvW because we’re running the hamster treadmill around EB cleaning up the mess that the GoM karma train has soiled with their red tint. Then again, it might be new PvE players getting the worst possible introduction to WvW.
My personal account is that we’re just getting swarmed with numbers and the toughest bastich in game will still appear to be glass…

It’s so hilarious to see these FC whine about how we “only focus on them” and how “big GoM’s zergs are”. 1) We are NOT only focusing FC. If you TRULY AND HONESTLY BELIEVE that GoM is ONLY focusing FC….please rethink your life. 2) People, it’s a fact of life that zergs exist. For people to whine and moan about how another server has a zerg simply makes them hypocrites. EVERY SERVER HAS ZERGS. And yes, though GoM may have better coverage, I have seen absolutely MASSIVE zergs from AR and FC so please don’t tell me you can’t push at us because you have “so little amounts of people” because you can and I’ve seen it so DO IT.
CAPS!!! 0.o
But just to show how little interest GoM has/had in attacking AR.
Your zergs might not be “massive” but certainly a whole lot larger than ours most of the time. Thieves in GoM figured out to apply their favourite spam into siege —> AC,AC,AC,AC,AC. I can just sigh whenever your zerg shows up and 3 AC blueprints are dropped before a ram goes down…
No swords on any blue = focus FC only. This screen was taken moments after we wiped your zerg and you decided to just double your numbers (as usual) to obtain objective. AR also moved in for some ninja capping.Wait. You’re saying that you’re upset because our numbers (seemingly) doubled after he first wave…. FC only can fight a war of attrition. I mean. I havenit had to buy siege with gold in quite some time. I get to use badges courtesy of your wave after wave of glassy mesmers…..
Also look! Its a repost from earlier but we didn’t have any FC territory!…. Well okay when I took this screenie we didn’t. We started flipping your keep like you guys do burgers at work…..
Heh our little joke about GoM is that they probe with 5 and exponentially increase their numbers until your screen is filled with red and ACs. Oh and that was not doubled after the first wave, it was doubled after the initial double.
But nice screen there, and as you stated: ACoM are preparing their onslaught at that very moment. tbh I don’t mind that you attack us from there – for once it’s a screen where I don’t see 2/3 red and 1/3 blue. So thanks for that – one browny point.
And I’m not kidding about the ACs – the fight following my screen shot had ACoM eventually streaming into (and around) the lord’s room and build about 15 ACs on the walls since there was no way you could actually win the battle on the ground with just numbers.

That’s a bit harsh man.
Back to topic: Stick with ET. I’m from FC and have been fighting against ET for many, many months. ET just lack the numbers (as we do) but their skill and commitment toward WvW are top notch and their numbers are slowly but surely on the incline.
Keep in mind that IoJ and DR have a bit of “history” and last time IoJ and DR was matched up with FC, IoJ did everything in their power to deprive DR from points and assist FC in gaining the upper hand. I think DR might be going all out against IoJ and that’s why you maybe don’t see either of them attacking ET too much.
If you really want to stir things up, go take over DR garrison and wait for the retaliation…

Also I can’t understand why GoM and SF are so intent on focussing their efforts on FC?
Normally, I’m a “don’t beat down the little guy” kind of person. Unfortunately, the rating system does not share my sentiment. Glicko expects GoM and SF to grind FC into the ground. If they don’t, they will lose rating to FC because they are “doing worse than expected.”
So honestly I’m torn. I don’t want to focus FC, but I also don’t want to lose rating to them for being nice.
Hang on here, if GoM performs better against SF than FC then you would gain even more rating points…
…
Let me set a few things straight here somewhat at least. First off I preface this by saying that no one person(s) viewpoint can be shared by an entire server.
With that being said, most of us on SF were content to give GoM hell this week and in large part ignore FC other than some EB holdings. This was mainly due to the fact that we knew you lost people to HoD, we had immense respect for little bro still from the T8 days, and GoM fields a sizable force that would keep us busy for the most part anyway.
Anyhow, all that began to change for a lot of us when the FC gank squads began attempting to farm us as we were heading for objectives on BL maps. Many, many times over the weekend FC were camping areas like the bridge to hills (from lake), while GoM was assaulting hills on our BL. So of course the natural progression was: “OK if FC wants to stick their nose in our business and not even try to take hills themselves, lets just press them a bit”.
Was not something really coming from a place of anger etc, or even in an effort to try to “win/gain ppt”, it is mainly just because a few groups of FC players decided to try and troll us, so we decided to troll a bit ourselves. (Golem rushes on FC BL Sat/Sunday comes to mind).
TL/DR: We still love ya FC, but if you try to troll farm us while letting GoM have a free pass, we will come rub the SF lovestick on ya.
I get what you’re saying and I was online once when FC pushed on SF BL, but only when we had to fend off GoM AND SF in our EB keep then win back our multi coloured BL. I suppose that FC will have to attack SF or GoM sooner or later and can expect retaliation in return…
I just get the feeling that EB gets all red removed before GoM moves in on the blue side.
Whatever the case may be, it just does not feel nice to be ganged up on although it’s an inevitable situation in a 3-way battle.
Sigh… if only we had more numbers to compete properly

Also I can’t understand why GoM and SF are so intent on focussing their efforts on FC?
Normally, I’m a “don’t beat down the little guy” kind of person. Unfortunately, the rating system does not share my sentiment. Glicko expects GoM and SF to grind FC into the ground. If they don’t, they will lose rating to FC because they are “doing worse than expected.”
So honestly I’m torn. I don’t want to focus FC, but I also don’t want to lose rating to them for being nice.
Hang on here, if GoM performs better against SF than FC then you would gain even more rating points… You have enough numbers to prevent FC from roaming freely around GoM properties when you focus your efforts on SF, but for GoM and SF to focus on FC to gain rating and merely keeping each other in check seems like a fail to me.
Oh well, sticks and stones I suppose… this darn rating system causes so much harm to the entire WvW experience.
If you guys have to prey on FC then at least leave our keeps out of it and let us have our WP. You guys are costing us a lot of time and money on upgrades just for the sake of Glicko ratings…

GoM you have a guardian commander with a [GoM] tag that’s behaving rather suspiciously as far as movement is concerned… Notice I did not use the “H” word, but please sort this guy out.
Also I can’t understand why GoM and SF are so intent on focussing their efforts on FC? Really it’s just sad that GoM and SF would both zerg our keep (and both loose) in EB at the same time. A little while after that both GoM and SF zerg show up in our BL. Granted, the SF BL turned a little greener a while later and GoM presence diminished in FC BL.
But you can’t look past the fact that EB has all red removed first before GoM decides that there is no other option left than to go for the blue property. GG guys, you sure are raking in those points!
And SF – you run your large zerg in our BL and fail to take our garrison. Then when we attack back you run like pansies. Perhaps you should listen to your guardians and “Stand your Ground” just once in a while.

My opinion of PAXA guys: Not bad… Just try and stear clear of 5v1-ing little old me outside the tower. Granted, I was looking for trouble by jumping off the wall and attacking the other HoD that was around.
But when I saw a few green dots around your location I thought I would jump in and help. PAXA wiped our little pug group without breaking a sweat. But that’s what you get when organized group attacks a few stragglers in unison. Still, you guys did show that you can take a beating and hand it out too. Not bad…
