Score like that…. Agg must be in our BL.
Sorry my friend that was FoE that took over all of FC. We called up Agg and asked what is a sure way to get a fight from this guys , they said take over a borderland. We wanted to train tonight but dint get anyone to come out and play. We tried hills no one, we tried garri 10ppl, we tried bay and then you guys came out to play. Gotta love when FoE and Agg come out to play
Gotta love how close the scores are, lets keep it up! And don’t go slacking off ET we aren’t in the clear just yet.
Shoo!
At the time I was on we had our hands full on EB just trying to hang on what we had while pushing into SM a few times without success.
To the FoE threesome who so roamed our BL camps… I was the single ranger trying to hold your attention away from Astral without much success. But it was fun though. You guys were buffed to the max and I had zero chance. All I could do was run out, scratch a small bit and run back to safety. Your thief got me at the end and kindly did not spike me.
I totally understand you want a fight, but green should attract more of your focus tbh. FC and ET have been at the bottom end for so long that its really not nice to come and kick us below the knees. Our intention is to show that, contradictory to popular belief, any T7 server won’t just drop down and ROFLSTOMP us. You guys are getting in the way of us trying to prove that point. Now it will be a huuuge task just to catch up to GoM again… If we ended 2nd this week I’m sure you could come over any time for a bit of a face off, but now we have to work just as hard again next week to prove our point and be all burnt out by mid week again.
Why don’t FoE transfer to FC then you and Agg can play whenever you want!

Great work to all Fergs. I’m really amazed by the dedication and time that you guys invest! casuals, regulars and especially commanders – Our commanders have really been burning the midnight oil this week and it shows! I’ve clocked 3 1a.m.s in a row but wish I could just get a few Zs in here at work… alas…
There’s been a few harsh words going around lately and I just think we’re all a little tired. Just 2 more days to go – fight hard and keep the faith!
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
It was just a joke really – nothing negative intended to GoM as a server.
To be honest I’m really enjoying the new matchup and there are a few things to be learnt from GoM.

I’m so tired at work today!!! another 1:30am run last night…
Score update anyone pls?
GoM we here at FC jokingly refer to some funny stuff you guys do as “T7 tactics”, but heck I just gotta ask why, when we were attacking durios with 4 catas, would you build a 2x flame ram on the wall??
I mean if it was close to the stairs or in the lord room then it would make sense for the burning damage, but unless it was a mistake you leave me baffled. No screenshot unfortunately since our guys destroyed it soon after it was placed (and then another one placed). All I can think of is that you have a flame troll in your midst?
Pssst – ET: GoM is taking your border land while you’re intent on setting zerg records on our precious little EB holdings.
I can understand rams at choke points, but when I see a ram on a wall I assume someone just dropped the wrong blueprint.
Ahhh yes, but doing it twice? Someone needs a slap on the wrist Could have been a mistake done twice, but if it was a troll then it did not cost the other defenders any supply since it was basically destroyed as soon as the blueprints were dropped…
Just wondering if GoM has some new secret tactic that is yet to be revealed
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Tonic? No. How ever tempting it sounds there are just about enough arguments against it in the above posts.
I understand your frustration, though. But it’s not only 100% map completion keeping me from a legendary so it does not bother me that much at the moment. I’m pretty sure if you ask in map chat, you’d get a number of people together to go cap whatever vistas/pois you’re missing. I just need the green keep for map completion, but it’s been an impenetrable fort ever since I’ve been playing and at the times I’m playing. I’ll get it one day and probably sooner than all the other requirements for a legendary.

By the time you posted this, our Borderland was already all blue… And there is a score update right above your post
Heh – yeah I saw that right after I posted… posts were a minute apart
My ref to BL was related to last night though (GMT +2). I’m amazed at the numbers that ET are pushing in lately. It seems you just keep on growing! The Big Brother torch should be passed on methinks.

Do PvPers know what blast finishers are?
Is this a serious question?!
No not serious – just one sided I guess No disrespect intended, but stacking 25 stacks of might in PvP probably takes a little more doing that in WvW I imagine?
I’ve only tried PvP very little to be honest but I’m still willing to bet that most PvPers know their professions a lot better than most WvWers. I argument this purely because (unless you go to PvP and look at each profession at max level) playing with a lvl 80 in WvW takes long to reach max level and players tend to have a main and maybe 2 or 3 alts.
I guess at the end it’s as difficult to compare PvP players with WvWers and PvEers – all different parts of the game.
But I’m pretty sure that if I meet an average PvP in a 1v1 scenario in WvW then I’d be on the loosing end more than 50% of the time. EDIT: maybe, maybe not… I dunno – perhaps we should set up some kind of official tournament. 5noobs, 5average, 5skilled, 5masters of each aspect. 3 hours on WvW and 3 hours on PvP and see who’s triumphant?

People who say agg are all that ET have are basically talking rubbish we have many fine players and guilds and I don’t run with zergs but have lots of fun and score lots of points for the team.
Agg has to have a big influence to carry the reputation that they do, but that said… I’ve not yet encountered the full might of Agg but still get my butt kicked by ordinary ETs so very true: ET is definitely not all about Agg. But I’m sure they will be missed if they suddenly decided to leave, no?
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
I can understand that someone from PvP coming to WvW would find players “not that good”. It’s their whole game tactic to learn exactly what all other classes can and can’t do. A lot of WvW players might know a good deal about other professions but not know them all in detail and how to counter every single move.
WvW is a lot more about organization and looking at group composition. It does not matter if I’m the worst or best guardian when running with a group. It matters that I carry a hammer and that I have as much toughness as possible.

how did anet miss that ofc points will be transferred to upper tiers everytime a server moves up?
therefore the tier-advantages spread making future tier changes bit by bit less possible (not taking into account vast changes in population).
as Omne said the ony way to balance the upward movement of ranking poins is an automated infusion from to to bottom (circle of life)
The issue with top to bottom is that T1 servers often mention queueing times. At T7, the ONLY time I’ve ever seen queueing times is right after reset, in EB only.
So you’re going to take a very highly populated server, put it up against servers who have been stranded at the bottom for weeks (if not months) and expect this “circle of life” to be fair? T1 and T2 servers would absolutely obliterate the bottom tiers, keeping the bottom tiers at the bottom (and further distancing the gap that would enable the bottom tiers to rise), as well as demoralizing the bottom servers and ensuring that fewer and fewer will turn out. The servers stuck at the bottom will remain so while the top tier servers will rise quickly through the tiers once again.
I loathe, despite, and outright hate the use of the Glicko system, but as long as it stands, unless we have a complete reset every couple of weeks, the gap is just going to grow and there’s yet to be a solution that will address it.
I don’t think the argument is at all to move a T1 server through the loop back into T8… that would just be silly and actually cause T1 servers to fight for 2nd…
The argument is to pump points from T1 back into T8 to keep the overall pool of points balanced but not let all the ranking points end up in T1. If a T2 server moves to T1 with 2200 points and looses that same week, it comes back with 2000 points. Where did that 200 points go to? It stays in T1… where did T2 (for argument’s sake: Kaineng) get their points? All the way from T8/T9.
In chess this is not an issue because you don’t only have 24 chess players in the world. There are constantly new players coming in and old players moving out. Thus new points are introduced and old points are done away with.

It also means the mesmer is still around somewhere close. If you reach a certain distance from your clone/phantasms they expire. So: Search and ye shall find
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
From my experience, the priority is like
-ranger pets: It will always cycle through ranger pets before targetting anything else
-bone minions: Second stop
-Phantasms: Next obvious target
-flesh golem and shadow fiends
-mesmer clones
-wildlife
-npcs
-walls
-water, empty air, the road, trees, rocks, …
-ranger pets on other maps
-phantasms on other maps
-satan himself
-playersThat is the order and nothing can change it.
100% my experience too!
At low fps TAB targeting is my only real option and in a zerg v zerg battle is just not nice to tab through all the pets and wild life before finally finding a valid target… who is out of range before you can react…
If anything, hitting TAB while your cursor is on a target should lock that target, since for some reason I have to spam left click for the program to realize that I really do want to switch targets.

…Weird things happen at night. Fighting a GoM ranger at Hero’s Lodge when we somehow clip into the house below. Did a screenshot mid-transition from inside the house to map to show the fact that I was in the house.

http://i.imgur.com/NJGEv1r.jpgThat GoM ranger was me that was wierd I was on the roof and I did a serpents strike and poof I was inside a very confined space. none the less that was a good fight.
Happened to me twice now that after capping a tower I would fall right through the floor in the “Lord’s” room… I managed to blink myself out but left a portal inside at which point another curious mesmer used the portal and got stuck inside! Fortunately she was able to also blink out but rather curious… I guess that’s what you get from taking towers at 3fps

Nah, race does not matter much. There might be some racial elite abilities that you might prefer over others, but for the most part the class elites are the preferred options. From all racials I’d say that Norn Snow leopard form would be most useful when trying to get out of a tight spot.

hi there and welcome to WvW!
You can certainly level al the way to 80 in WvW. You have to do a little PvE when you create a new character, but after the “intro” is done, you can head straight to WvW. Here you will be up levelled to max level. You won’t be as powerful as a true lvl 80 with all exotic gear, but you can certainly enjoy the game in groups!
Make sure you complete you daily achievements and you’d need to gather and salvage a lot! I advise this because you can gain a significant amount of levels purely by crafting.
Classes that assist in WvW groups at the moment (and this is only my opinion):
Guardians – grants boons to allies and some good toughness
Elementalists – combo fields-R-us and the best DPS
Rangers – healing combo field as well as fire combo field while doing some decent ranged damage while being very difficult to kill.
Mesmers – portal bombs, null field, veil of invisibility
Warriors – all around tough guy and dps monsters. These guys are welcome in any party and can do ranged and cc damage
Engineers – some people has this class mastered and are very useful in groups. Some people don’t have it mastered (like myself) and is running around wondering how to achieve anything
Necros – AoE conditions are showing their true worth in large scale battles. Necros are always welcome and any group.
Thieves – very useful for burst damage and turning enemy pants slightly brown, but after the March 26 culling nerf thieves are no longer able to perma stealth and need to rethink their game plan.

My message to SF:
With your inevitable move up to T7 (and probably to higher tiers soon after) just around the corner… please, please, please do us, FC and ET, the honour and give ‘em T7 guys the best you can! Give ’em yer full might!
If you go in there and loose, then I’m going to be broken since I really think FC and ET deserve better than scraping the bottom of the barrel for eternity.
To FC and ET: when the T7 looser comes down this will be our chance to show what we’re really made of. All along people have been trolling our plights saying that any T7 will just ROFLSTOMP in any case, but I really believe this won’t be the case. Let’s not slip up though. If any of us can make it out of T8 it will really make those trollers swallow their words!!!
So let’s give SF a good fight these next few rounds until they move up and toughen them up a bit eh?
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
The only way to get dropped down to T8, is to have done poorly in T7.
yes/no.. you would have to have done a certain amount of poorly. Not all third place are equal and perhaps GoM players would’ve put in more effort into raising their final score had they known the goal post was going to be moved on them.
Well I think that even before the recent free transfers there was one hell of a battle between the 3 T7 servers just to stay clear of the T8 trap. I would imagine it was some of the best WvW entertainment all around. The thing is just that SF has to move up – they deserve nothing less. This means one of the 3 T7s has to move down. This week (or hopefully not later than the next) will prove who really does not want to drop down… Rally yer troops T7!!

Is anyone here aware then EU tier 9 has it much worse and dont complain. Since launch Vabbi and FoW have made 1 thread as far as i know complaining about how uneven it is and have never left that tier since falling there.
So on that note…. Dear Anet pls fix EU tier 9!
I understand that T9 is probably just as frustrated as we are, but they are faced with regular matchup changes and if T8 was in a similar situation I’m sure we’d (probably) be OK with that. Just keep in mind that T8 frustration comes from being totally outmanned and stripped of points by the likes Devona’s Rest and Kaineng. Especially Kaineng – when they eventually broke loose of T8 they ended up at the top of T2…
Sorrow’s Furnace (from all accounts I’ve heard and read) are fielding enough numbers to at least be top of T7. I’m pretty confident that the next server falling down from T7 to T8 and still beating the snot out of us will be the end of T8 gripes. We’d settle for the battle for the last 2 spots and that would be that, but as long as SF remains in T8 and can’t break free we will never know…
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Thanks Devon,
Just getting a reply from you makes a world of difference to our mood!
If throwing a bunch of points into T8 (and probably T9) would upset the system too much, how about throwing points at T1 thru T8 but distribute it so that the lower tiers gains a greater percentage of points than the upper tiers? Just a thought.
EDIT: Personally I’ll be glad that SF gets rewarded with a positive ranking out of all this when they are beating FC and ET by such a big margin but loosing points at the moment (as is the case with a number of green teams beating the opposition and still loosing points). If any permanent fix could be achieved then I hope that the winning team always gets a positive ranking rather than loosing ranking because Glicko said so.

I don’t see what that has to do with what I said. VK said that SF have the numbers, but no great skill. But NSP and GoM and HoD have numbers too.
I just can’t see SF dominating T7 like they do in T8. And I doubt that ET or SF are a match for any T7 server.
Maybe it isn’t that system is broken – maybe SF needs to win more convincingly to be worthy of T7.
I’ve said all about T8 and ratings I want to, but thinking that SF needs to win more convincingly? So winning by more than ET and FC scores combined (even double our combined scores before the free xfers last week) week in, week out, month in, month out is not enough.
They need to win more convincingly.
Well there’s your problem right there! Fixed!
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
Enough nonsense – Let’s get things straight . . . I’m on SoF and in my view, historically all of T8 was primarily zerg until the recent transfers.
…
…
…
Whoaaaaa there… Sounds like you’re peeved about some post of mighty ET/FC holding out zerg upon zerg of SF ? It’s been a while since I saw one of those…
Before Kain left the ET and FC “zerg” was about a 15 man squad taking what little scraps we can. (at least in my time zone). Lately the free xfers ensured a gain in numbers to FC and sure, we run in a “zerg” but often times it’s less than 20. We just got a few new tactics and putting them to practice. But the T8 zerg battles was probably just due to people so glad to see others online that they would zoom onto a blue dorito just to get the large battles that WvW is supposed to offer.
A lot of SF are glass cannons and it works (ed) well for them with superior numbers (heck I even had a glass guardian just for the sake of getting a kill here and there all on my lonesky), but remember that before SF arrived we were used to far larger odds against us. FC players learnt to be resilient in small numbers. So we found that in small evenly matched numbers against SF we would win more often than not – that’s the argument we’re making.
I’m glad the transfers came in, because I can certainly see SF and ET upping their game as we have. ET still showed the use of glass cannons in their zerg at FC hills last night and I was amazed (before I died multiple times) that I would put a serious dent in 1 guardian and 1 warrior with my mesmer’s iZerker.

creating new maps might not be so easy, but why not use existing PvE maps? In my opinion it would be great to have Divinity’s Reach as a WvW map. It would also introduce a really wonderful peace of art to the WvW community. As it stands, DR (actually all major cities) is already desolate, so give it some new purpose in WvW.
This could be the place where zerg control could be exercised by giving the map a low pop limit or multiple instances per server. Say there is a pop limit of 50, but each server can run 10 instances of DR with cumulative totals. Next instance is only available if current instance is full.
You can only participate in DR WvW if your server owns a good % of your own BL and has some in EB… or something like that.

Personally I had a blast in FC last night!
Firstly: Big thanks to all the current FC players that showed up in WvW. I hope to see you all again soon and regularly!
Secondly: Welcome to any players that transferred to FC and we hope you were well received by the WvW community! I hope you stick with FC and learn what our spirit is really all about and enjoy the game with us!
Thirdly: All those green dots just filled my eyes with tears a little… It felt so good fighting alongside so many FC (even if we were still vastly outnumbered).
I joined in just as soon as WvW was available and that was when SF decided to take FC Bay. Just too many SF before our forces could gather properly and it fell into their hands.
Then the fight for Hills and we were faced with odds stacked against us. But we stood our ground and drove the sea of SF away over and over again. They finally decided to change tactics and rushed our towers and built a bit of a stronghold at cliffs from where the trebbing started… Finally our garrison fell and it was 12pm already! I logged off but found some stinky SF posts here this morning which is totally wrong. We gave you a better fight than you expected I’m sure… (as usual).

makes face at SF
nyah! For the next week, all the medium population servers will be free to transfer to. Might be worth giving one of them a look!
So much rage at ArenaNet right now. Instead of actually fixing the Glicko Ghetto, they instead give free transfers to our T8 enemies and the T7 server that we’ve been trying desperately to swap places with. So this is our “reward” for dominating for 2 months straight? Such bullkitten.
Let me preface my comments by saying that I fully expected to be stuck in T8 for at least another month before this news, so I do not want people to think that I am whining about ET/FC getting potential help/population boostings.
My complaint is that everyone and their brother claims/believes/admits that free transfers broke glicko/WvW Tiers in the past, and now what does ANET do to “remedy” this? MOAR FREE TRANSFERS….Let’s hope they dont have trouble with in-game economy in the future: “Let’s give them free gold, or maybe put them on ANET assistance, they can cash a gold voucher every month around the 1st…”
I fully support the lacking servers getting help, like I said above I do not mind that as much. But what do people think is going to happen when these “free transfers” do not like what they get? What happens when these people bail from WvW in the event the score differential only slightly changes and these people do not wanna lose by 100k etc?
I’ll tell you what: disgruntled people that will be kitten that they moved to the lowest tier, unhappy that they cant move back to their “home”, and an even more diminished attendance for little brother and middle brother…And after all that what we will be left with is the same stale matchup for another 3+ months by that time because this influx was just enough to hold us in T8.
Again, I hope you guys get the help you need, nothing personal toward ET/FC, but I would hope that the same people that have been VOCAL on these forums about free transfers “ruining their server” would not change their tune just because you THINK it will benefit you.
This is ANET’s solution folks: drop a patch, and drop free transfers back into play to “fix” their broken system.
/rant over
Well I certainly hope for some transfers INTO FC/ET… it’s the transfers to green team (while ET/FC where blue/red) that caused the mess in T8 rankings. Our scores got so low that it created the trap for anyone falling into T8 from here on… Now for SF’s sake I hope that ET/FC don’t get too much transfers because that would mean that we’re competing with greater numbers and probably close the score gap and dropping your ratings and just keeping you tied down in T8 longer and longer and longer… Now that would not be such a bad thing if we get enough transfers to make it a well contested match, but I doubt that would be the case.
We’ll have to wait and see, but I certainly hope that players from FC/ET don’t use this to move out!!!!

@scleameth: red is the color of the keep that gets trebbed from SM,
red was the color of anza being rushed,
red was the color of Mendons taht can be cata’d and trebbed from various open field places,
red was the color of the keep that now also is being trebbed from mendons… etc
Wait you must be talking about reset night rest of the time its all green… the colour of sick, the colour of slime, the colour of snot. Besides our BL is our pride and that is Red…. (for the most part) even our snow and our rabbits are red. The owls, the moas, the vendors – all red. :P

we are Red.
Not just any red, #FF0000 red! (the perfect red).
Red is the colour of love and we love WvW and our server!
Red is the colour of heat and we are hot in WvW skillz (and some of us are hawt)
Red is the colour of roses and we not only smell nice, but we don’t have stinky attitudes.
Red is the colour blood and we give blood for our server as well as paint the battlefield red with our enemy’s blood.
Red is the colour of fire trucks and we too have 6 men squads that make a great noise as we tear down walls and rez the fallen.
Red is the colour of Paddington Bear’s boots – cute and fuzzy – who does not like Paddington Bear?
So join FC if you want to be Red and proud! (that is until we are blue then green in which case I will say a bunch of nice things about those colours too).

This is only one idea of improving WvW and I’m not even sure if implementation will be too restrictive but here goes:
I’m thinking that death in WvW should count as a more severe penalty (when venturing outside your home BL) in WvW than it currently does. Zerging is part of the game and glued in,but there is no real penalty in place to assist defenders. (even Zerg vs Zerg defending).
During the Karka event build-up in Soutsun Cove, there was a translucent barrier keeping us from exploring until the event finale.
What if maps were split into 3 of these zones? After death you can’t pass into the zone you just died in for a set amount of time (15/20/30 minutes?). This would stop a zerg from just throwing numbers at an objective until it is capped. (Even spawn camping could be prevented.) So if you died, you could still carry on with your WvW experience, but you won’t be able to join the zerg just as soon as you would normally be able to. So this is your penalty and not armour repair costs that only makes poor WvWers even poorer.
Preventing the zerg from sustaining it’s numbers to cap an objective will also assist in some cost saving of upgrades. Nothing makes me more sad than seeing my gold I just spent on upgrades going to waste because a zerg ball doing it’s rounds on our BL.
In my opinion, this preventative measure will make defence of keeps and towers far more effective in a, say, 5v20 scenario. 5V20 can turn into 5v19, 5v15, 5v10… in stead of the zerg just rezzing their dead.
As a defender in your home BL you obviously want to run and defend without barrier penalties so armor repair costs in your BL still apply.

Sersiously, never not in 2013, not in 2014 – aint gonna happen the way things are going at the moment.
a) DR and Kaineng ensured (only way out of T8) that FC and ET ratings are so low that none can escape the black hole that is T8.
b) As soon as FC and ET ratings go up, it means that SF performed under the glicko predictions and they loose points. But when SF performs above par, they ensure that ET and FC ratings go down, making the next week an impossible job. 1 step forward, 1 step back.
c) Anet is not concerned with the situation at all. It’s the pink elephant in the room, but we turn the lights off and close the door. No acknowledgement or concern mentioned from their side in I dunno how many months/topics/posts. Oh, yes they wanted to reset ratings when free transfers were done, got the whole community enraged and decided to let the broken system just continue on it’s merry way.
d) FC has already lost a LOT of interest in WvW and good players and guilds have left already.
e) SF players are loosing interest because they realize that there is no way out and what they have in WvW is the same as what ET and FC have been stuck with for months: Unbalanced WvW – you don’t like it? Transfer! But Anet does not realize that players might not be transferring to other servers, they’re transferring to other games!
f) FC and ET numbers need to dwindle so much or quit playing for a few weeks that SF is able to rule all 4 maps from reset night. ET is showing some fight lately so I don’t think they have that in mind. FC have some real never-say-die players who love to feed on the scraps that get handed to them and I don’t think they will quit long enough for SF to have 4 uncontested maps.
Stalemate. TL;DR
SF, the better you play the lower you get our rankings and we drag you down again next week if you don’t perform even better. And I doubt you have much more to offer… T8 is you new home and we have the keys!

I guess we have to wait patiently for the culling fix to arrive then.
I’ll probably still have issues when I’m at low health in the middle of my group and get ganked by a thief…
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)
If your having problems with a thief whilst playing a guardian, theres learn to play issues.
Ugh – over stating the L2P thing is getting really old. I don’t have issues 1v1 I’ve said before that I’ve won a ton of times but also lost a fair share. It’s the escape mechanic I have an issue with….
EDIT: and just to be sure, normally it’s a thief who decides to instantiate battle. But if things go sour for him then poof! run awaaaay! If I decide to take on a warrior and things go sour for me it’s death. Bring up the situation where reinforcements arrive and I had the upper hand – it’s death. Thief not so much – just hit the magic save repair expenses button and vanish.

So everyone is just complaining about all thieves then.
Its either too much damage or too tanky or stealth abuses too much or resets fight at will etc etc etc
Gotta hate those 30 30 30 30 30 thieves running around
LOL – well mebbe the 30 30 30 30 25 thieves we can live with?
I get that thieves are being trashed to bits in this thread, but really the title is that “Stealth needs a nerf” and is really my only complaint with thieves. Not the idea of stealth, stealth is an advantage and the thief is designed to use stealth. It just needs a little nerf is all I’m saying. If I’m soloing with my guardian I’m constantly running with my finger on focus #5 just in case the cling-cling-cling starts from no where. I still have no problem with that. My problem is that the thief can stealth so much and run away and wait for all cool downs and come back into battle, mostly back in battle before all my guard skills are back from CD.
But thieves are in and out without breaking much of a sweat, where none of the other classes offer that. Sure mesmers are frustratingly difficult to target and engis and bunker eles can be a pain to put down, but at least they all rely on CDs in plain sight.
1v1 is also not my problem with thieves, since they have to break battle more often than not. It’s in groups with the stealth spike, stealth heal, stealth menu, stealth escape.
If a 5Vs5 suddenly turns into a 0Vs5 when a thief is around even though the battle was fairly evenly matched is when everyone starts complaining.
Actually if stealth gets nerfed I feel sorry for thieves, because anyone and everyone will gang up on them. So even though I would love to see a stealth nerf, I don’t think Anet will have very happy words from the thief community at all.
So I’m thinking keep all the stealth durations, skills and CDs in place, but when a thief strikes it should make him visible unable to stealth for 1,5 or 2 seconds. When in stealth during combat there should be a movement penalty (or at the very least not a movement bonus).

First off, no need to bring in tier 8 chest thumping into this thread; completely off topic. We have around 17 other tier 8 threads going.
Don’t go to tier 8 if you want even fights or non zerg fights. That is just how it is. For even fights go to tier 6. If you really want tier 8 and don’t just want to stomp roll people FC is the place you want to go. They seem to have the lowest number of WvW players right now. If you want a bit more leeway ET is the place to go, plus we have exp trains. CHOO CHOO!!!!!!
^^ this
… wait, what? exp trains?? is that the “easy on the eyes” term for a zergball there in ET land?
But basically if this answer does not help you make your mind up, nothing will.
In addition: T8 has good players and bad players, same as any other tier. T8 has moments of any server running a zerg. T8 has good battles and lop sided battles. It has all of WvW just in a smaller scale I suppose. No queues! SF has greater numbers, but not all the time. They can take an entire map and hold it, but sooner or later FC and ET numbers show up and the real fight begins. So from a points perspective it’s all about coverage times and SF has the advantage there.
1st tip if joining FC or ET – if you see “the” KING mesmer, run. Don’t fight. You’ll loose.

But you might have seen racial elites?
Rock dogs = Hounds of Balthazar human elite?
Wolves = Sylvan Hound sylvari elite?
or = Mystfire Wolf elite purchased with Digital Delux edition?

I saw tier 8 and was expecting a dual. J/k
LOL.
Sometimes it’s more than a dual … the wild life can really gang up on you at times

I have a lvl 2 necro and you will never be able to kill him because I don’t play with my necro… is necro OP because he doesn’t die ?
Heh, had to smile at that.
But my argument is not that thief is OP, just that stealth allows them to run away when the going gets tough. I’ve killed a number of thieves and a number have killed me… I’m just saying that once I’m committed to battle there’s very little I can do when the tide shifts except die. A thief can just tralala pop stealth and run away.
If a thief gets kills or not is not my concern, but he lives to fight again after all health and cool downs are nicely restored. Guardian has to spawn and pay the repair costs.
Theives also, through stealth, have the luxury of “browsing the menu” for their kills. They don’t need to get the 15K hits to get a kill. A 5K hit is good enough to prey on that retreating ranger with 3K health left, or that unsuspecting low lvl character off to the left. 2x 5K hits = 10K and is good enough to get that warrior down who just got all the focus of your team. The tralala stealth – spike, back to the menu. Wanna see my guardian run through the enemy group to kill the almost dead retreating ranger? It will take all my shields to get there if I’m not stun locked. OK so I’m there, right on top of the ranger got him down, but can’t get the spike and lie dead at his feet soon after.
Oh and as for lack of stealth… yeah there are on average about 4 shields I can pop, but then it’s soooo over. I can’t get away! when the damage mitigation is all over and done, that’s it – I’m exposed, no gettin’ out of this fight.

Maybe just a timer when the thief can activate stealth again. Perhaps not even stealth while in combat would be my 1st choice but many arguments against that I’m sure.
My issue with watching thief videos is that it’s just so easy to break out of combat and get all your cool downs back up and then go stealth again and re-engage. tralala, damage, damage, tralala, ooo close to death, stealth, tralalala, heal up, get cool downs off, tralala, kill this guy, kill that guy, stealth.
If my guardian enters combat most of the time it’s a fight to the death. If my skills are all on cool down then that’s basically it for me. I can’t run from a thief since he’s spec’d to be as fast as me for my full duration of “save yourselves” and all the while #2, #2, #2… So I have to stand there and wait to be attacked to be able to counter. Wait for my cool downs in clear sight of an approaching mob. A thief can just tralala run off when the goin get’s tough.
Vids with comments highlights that “oh I missed this skill”, or “hit the pet by accident”, or “I’m going to have to wait just a sec and then smack him with this”…. etc…
As a guardian I don’t have that advantage. If I miss one attack, it’s a fail and I have to wait for cool down in plain sight of many other attackers. I can’t afford to wait a sec, if I miss my initiating attack the whole thing fails and I’m basically just fighting for my life other than controlling the fight. Thieves, through stealth, can basically always control the fight unless they slip up bad and get hit by a decent AoE.
