The weirdest thing I find out of the whole thing, is people have been begging for them to come back to the gem store for the whole sale, wanting to spend money on it.
I realize that they were probably planned as event rewards for some time, but I’m surprised they weren’t swapped for something else and put in the gem store.
Maybe part of the whole "armor as an in-game reward thing, I dunno.
oh man, with the problems with the event rewards if bunny ears had been on that list high enough people didn’t think they’d be possible to get can you imagine the rage?

Is Scribe an actual crafting discipline?

No I am not an actual crafting discipline.

Additional crafting license… lolololololol literally one of the most useless gem store items… lolololololol
I hadn’t had any interest in it before but then I realized … they’re adding “scribe” to guild halls and I’d like my main crafters to be able to do that too. So I sprung for it.
My other professions are already spread across 4 toons so I dont have to spend money to swap (yes, I’m cheap, swapping toons is free), so I’ll likely give it to my Rev.

New information:
The NPC will remain, so you will be able to exchange your blooms.
Okay, awesome, follow-up question.
Can you all give us some idea of what we should be getting per event?
At least in terms of blooms?
As it is I have no idea what I need to do to get enough blooms, I’d hate to play it anyway for the weekend and then fall short because the events weren’t giving as many as we thought.
I can kinda sorta keep track if I have to if I at least know what it’s supposed to be giving me.

This has been a complaint for as long as I can remember, they do all their talking through other sites, leaving those of us here to wonder what the heck is going on until someone in the know from the other sites happens to wander through and clue us in because Anet couldn’t be bothered to post official game news on the games official forums.
But hey they twitted about right?

Complete waste of time in its current state, 0 rewards, no loot, nada. Needs to at minimum give loot AND reward 20 tokens per final event clear. 5 is complete ludacris, at a rate of 5 tokens per ‘event’ and needing 450 for certain key items from the vendor, that is 90 events and lets say 30 mins per event, so 45 hours at 5 tokens per….
Yeah, not worth it in this sorry state.
My understanding is that the 30 minute events only start on the half hour.
So that’s 90 hours.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
Actually I was wondering about that, the best People seem to be getting is 5 blooms pretty much regardless of how many stacks of the buff they had.
So the question is whats required to get the 5, that’s where people are going to stop, just enough stacks to get their 5 bloom pittance and then afk in a corner somewhere.

You’re expected to play 48 hours a day for the whole event, it’s not like people need to work, eat, or sleep right?

So if 5 blooms is the best you can get from each 30 minute event.
That’s 90 half hour events.
45 hours of play time minimum assuming you always get 5 and the events don’t continue to give absolutely nothing.
Do they run back to back, twice an hour?
How the heck are we supposed to get in that many events in a single weekend event?
I play a lot on the weekends but I don’t know how the hell I’m supposed to manage 45+ freaking hours for a single item.

Nope, not a single person in a map that just finished got rewards.

If impossible, at least add some more options for them in the makeover kit. Some of the accessory colors look really poor. Like a hurried ‘multiply’ layer in Photoshop.

I solved this by gasp moving my inventory from dead center to a little off to the left.
Which both keeps it from blocking the encumbered window it also keeps it out of the key area of my screen, so I can open my inventory to do mini management while still being able to keep up with the action center screen.

There is no connection at all between beta char names and your old char names!
For your idea to change the name of one of your old char:
This item already exists! It’s available for like nothing in the gemshop! Just spend some $ or € on it and you can change your name instantly! You win, Anet wins, everyone wins!!Btw.: some mod should delete this thread, because it obviously is already an available cheap item and no “suggestiin)”.
Considering that $10 is the price of a whole new character slot, with all the uses and benefits that entails, $10 to simply rename an existing character is beyond unreasonable. Renames should be absolutely no more than half the cost of a slot.

I am going to level, but use my level 30 booster and start from there. I want to do my personal story and slowly learn every legend and weapon, learn my traits, utilities inside and out. I also will be skill point hunting so I can get everything possible for traits and utilities.
I am casual but also a veteran player so I usually get 5-6 levels a day with some crafting thrown in time to time..
I was actually considering that as well but I decided to boost my Rev to 80 and then do the personal story because then at least all the XP I earn from doing that will go towards getting my the Legendary Crafting and Pact Commander Masteries.
That’s actually an extremely good point. Leveling to 80 takes a lot of exp, none of will be going towards advancing your Mastery lines. For example, maxing one of the Maguuma lines takes over 16 million exp. When you consider that traditional leveling is taking both time and exp from end game account progression, the traditional leveler will take quite an exp hit.
Exp needed to level
Exp needed to advance Maguuma Mastery tracks
Yeah, I had originally planned to level mostly normally, just using tomes to supplement the process. But then I realized I was wasting a ton of potential exp towards masteries and I think I’m going to do just do the straight to 80 boost.

Upgrades are kind of meant to be consumable, they need a sink, and that’s it right there.

Now wouldn’t that be nifty. We usually get one free apply of each skin we buy, though for armor sets I almost feel like just unlocking the skins and giving us 6 trans charges would be more efficient.
They do want you to buy trans charges, and the game already throws them at you anyway though. Seriously one per mapped zone most of the time.
New toon, map each home city and LA for 6, add each starter zone for 5 more.
I think I’ve picked up about 24 doing world completion on one toon so far.
That’s 4 full armor changes right there. And then PvP tracks have a few more.

The only reason they got weapon swap added (they didn’t launch with that) was from before the wardrobe. When you had to use a transmutation crystal to move the skin to another GS destroying the first set of stats in the process, which meant if you wanted to switch back it cost a 3rd GS, then a 4th, 5th, etc.
Expensive with exotics, just nuts with ascended.
Now that we have the wardrobe and the ability to apply the legendary skin to as many weapons as you want with no loss of gear it’s time for the stat swapping to go and legendaries restored to what they are supposed to be, and that is cosmetic ONLY.No that is not the reason why stat swapping was added. It was added with the launch of ascended weapons.
to explain the situation before ascended weapons. You had transmutation crystals. (so although there wasn’t a wardrobe, you could swap skins). Legendary weapons had exotic stats and you could simply acquire a new exotic weapon and use a crystal to merge the legendary with the new stats. So with crystals you could use whatever stat you want, for the cost of an exotic weapon and a crystal. When ascended weapons where launched. it was needed to upgrade legendary to those stats, but cause ascended weapons where a lot harder to obtain, it would loose the ease of changing stats on legendary. So the stat swap function was added.
So your point is invalid cause before and after the wardrobe introduction it was possible to put the skin on any weapon. It was implemented cause creating an ascended weapon just to change the stats on a legendary was too high.
I respect your opinion that legendary weapons should be cosmetic only (though I disagree), but the wardrobe didn’t change anything bout that. They made this decission. I find it a good one, you a bad one.
Yes, we’ve always been able to reskin it to another GS.
The problem was that when you did it in the old system you lost the old weapon.
Change from zerker to soldier? Zerker is now gone.
Not a huge deal with exotics but gets really expensive really fast with ascended.
Now, I want to switch from Zerker to Soldier I make a new GS, skin it with Sunrise.
Bam, I now have both swords skinned as Sunrise and can freely swap back and forth at no cost, which was the problem the swapping was meant to solve.
People didn’t think it was fair to sacrifice/destroy an ascended GS every time they wanted to swap stats, and it wasn’t, but now you no longer have to due solely to the wardrobe as I said, and it’s time for the stat swapping to go.

So I remember when I crafted my Sunrise it was Soldier stats. This problem would still be there today if they remove the stats swap. My Sunrise would be Soldier stats and I would need to craft a Ascended and then transmute my legendary on that ascended.
Make no sense that you need to craft both an Ascended and a Legendary just to have the right stats on your Legendary. They could change the swap stats to a one time thing. Like you craft your legendary, you choose your stats once and then you can swap them to something else. I wouldn’t mind that, but is it that important?
I rather that they also include a sigil swapping system personally.
Yeah, should be a one time thing. Bam, problem solved.

Legendary is not a new tier.
Legendary has been in the game since launch, the fact it was missing major parts of that tier don’t negate the fact that the “tier” Legendary existed.
Ascended did not and was added later, and in order not to negate the work people put into legendaries they were bumped up to equal the newly added ascended.
The cosmetic aspect is supposed to be the primary and only benefit from legendary.
So its about time the stat swapping was removed, as the problem it was added to get around has been resolved entirely. Even just that convenience is more than legendary should have.

You can buy and it save it, just be aware its only 50 gems off the normal bag price if you exclude the stupid boosters, I might recommend if all you really want is the bag slot to wait. They go on sale once maybe twice a year, so if you create the character weeks or months from now you may have more opportunities to buy slots at a better discount.

Legendary is not another tier.
It has the same stats as Ascended, you in no way have to get it.
It has the cosmetic advantage of looking cooler.
And a not insignificant convenience advantage of swappable stats.
But those stats are not any better than Ascended.

Any 3yr vet that took electro dyes as their gift just got smacked in the face by anet today…
Not really. They got the dye that they wanted for free rather than having to spend their gold for it.
Stop the anet fanboying lol there are now dyes from other sets more expensive than the electros… therefore yes, anyone who got them got hosed in gold savings value…
No need to resort to insults as it just weakens your position. So are you telling me that you chose electro blue because it had the highest savings and not because you wanted it? So if, before today’s sale, I was to have bought up all of the existing dyes and relist them for 5K a piece, would you still feel the same way? The existing price was a result of stagnant supply with a high demand. The value of the dye hasn’t really changed since yesterday. Either you want it or you don’t.
To quote Benjamin Franklin… a penny saved is a penny earned… why would anyone NOT want to save themselves as much gold down the road as possible?
Because saving myself 500g on a color I hate and will never use instead of saving 5g on a color I’ll use all the time is, well, kind of silly.

I can understand not liking the core of a class but liking the elite.
I find necro to be tolerable but reaper to be a hundred times more fun, so if I could start off with reaper much earlier then yeah I totally would.
I find the reasons not to have them unlock before 80 to fall into several categories
A) If it unlocks for other people it won’t feel like “end-game progression” and will therefor be ruined because those “filthy casual scum”[sup]1[/sup] get it too
B) F2pers might get their F2P hands all over them
C) Elite players won’t feel as special
I don’t see them as end-game progression.
They are simply an expansion of an existing class.
I can see them leaving as something to unlock after 80 though because there are so many people who need things to literally be labelled “end-game content” or its not endgame content and they wont do it cause they’re so MLP pro hardcore engdamers only “engdame cotnent” is worth doing and only if it’s, like, super legit, and, like, also, like only 5% of the playerbase can, like, even complete it.
I mean if we’re going for real good end game progression why not lock the elite specs behind legendaries? Their kind of legendary specs right?
Want Reaper? Gotta make Twilight.
Want Dragonhunter? Gotta make Kudzu.
That’ll give the elite specs a truly elite feeling right?
I mean they’re called Elite, only Elite players should be able to unlock them right?
And its all BS. leveling in this game is so easy. The game throws tomes at you, you can get what 16? just from the logon rewards every 28 days? Plus there are some in various daily chests, pvp tracks, etc.
You can take a character from 2 to 80 the first time you log into them once you’ve set some aside. There’s nothing special about being 80 to warrant locking the elite spec behind that.
Sure, the OP can just jump to 80, and then all the exp from doing mapping/eventing and all that goes to masteries instead of just leveling, but for some its the journey and not the “endgame” grind destination that’s important.
And. it wouldn’t harm anything but the elitists egos for it to unlock earlier.
Mine are all 80, so I have no dog in this race, but it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest for someone else to unlock them too.

I don’t want them to stop making outfits, a lot of people love them and it brings them money.
What I want them to do is make 1 set of armor in game for each outfit they add to the gem store. We had lots of armor sets added through the gem store (and very few added in game), people complained and they said okay Outfits in the gemstore and armor in game.
And since we’ve had mostly Outfits in the gem store and very few armors added to the game, so clearly their priority is that which makes them money.
And that’s fair, they’re a business not a charity.
But that said its getting a little old to see the disparity, the least they could have done was discount/bring back the armor previously on the gem store for the anniversary sale.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
Drop rates probably aren’t going to change.
Demand will probably go up, as more people feel like a legendary is achieveable.
Each account will be able to craft one of each pre (or so we hear), and I haven’t heard if they will be tradeable
And new legendaries will not be tradeable (or so we hear) and could possibly extend to older legendaries crafted from the precurser hunt.
I’m not sure I see prices crashing, I mean look at the expensive dyes after the 3rd birthday gift. Some prices dropped a bit, but nothing crashed hard as far as I’ve seen.
(That could have even been a test drive of how to add a large supply of very expensive items to the game without crashing prices)
And thats with a great many players being given a total freebie.
I expect the precurser hunt to be quite egregious.
Too many variables we don’t know yet.
I sit looking at most of the mats needed for a legendary (of course missing the pre most of all) and the debate is go for it now, wait it out and see?
My original plan had been to craft a first one to sell and use the proceeds to finish my own without being totally broke. But where am I going to be if HoT makes then non tradeable and I’m stuck with 90% of a legendary I don’t want?
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
There’s still what like 6 days left?
And something people don’t seem to be realizing is that in large part this sale is designed to drive lots of sales on the gem store, thus so many of the discounts being for small quantities (like 1 bag slot consumable so people couldn’t buy 3 and save for their revenant)
So it wouldn’t be surprising to see them only put the pick on sale.
After all people will want a full set, that means higher demand which means less incentive to discount.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
