I have been meaning to do this with all my characters for a long time. Nice job and good location.
I would love something like this….give us something to work toward and have a challenge/fun in dungeons. They are all mostly yawn fest “stack in a corner and FGS” now…. I do it for the gold, but it lost its fun a while ago for me.

Ok, I did some follow up testing today and found out that depending on how much an “even match” the game is seems to have an effect on the rank reward you get with the max being 500 (for custom of course).
If the match is a complete blowout, ex: 500 to 40, then the winning team will only get ~420 rank points instead of the 500. This varies I assume with the final score tally player scores etc…
I do not know the exact criteria or formula for this…. but I thought I would share my test.
I think its a terrible idea. Leave in on the PC where it belongs, developers should spend the time instead on developing new content and gameplay instead of trying to port it to other systems.
Also, while I realize you can have keyboards for next gen systems…typing would be a nightmare while also trying to play from a controller. Also simple things you do with your mouse everyday and don’t think about how much of pain it would be without it. For example: Inventory and bank manipulation, AoE placement, Selecting enemies/objects/waypoints, etc….
It seems with the latest patch (June 17) custom arenas award ~420 rank points for a win instead of 500.
It was only 1v1 if that makes any difference?
Is this happening to others as well??

Is it really supposed to be hard to do PvP on a ranger?
I only started PvP last week, I’m still only doing hot join and I’ve killed people in 1v1 fights playing as a ranger (and once 1v2 but the second person might have been akf/lagging most of the time).
I was under the impression PvP was the one area where rangers were considered good, as long as the player isn’t a complete idiot.
Rangers shine in 1v1 PvP. If traited and played correctly, a ranger can take on most classes 1v1 no problem. When I duel with my ranger, the only classes that give me problems are warriors loaded with a butt-ton of stuns/immobilize and mesmers.
This has probably been asked a bunch already. But why did they remove Sonder the Seller from the world? Then they start giving out dragon coffers with each black lion chest (which spit out Zhaitaffy) with no place to spend it?
Have there been any Dev comments on why they removed the vendor and if he is coming back?
Tarnished Coast would probably be your best bet. They are one of the most active NA servers in PvE from what I hear. Sanctum of Rall is likely less populated than Gates of Madness judging by their tanking in WvW.
While obviously WvW population does not count for everyone on a server, it is a very good indicator of that server’s overall active playerbase. So higher tiered WvW servers will generally have your higher population overall.
Sounds cool to me. I would enjoy seeing something like this as well. Throw in some dark night effects (think snowblind fractal) and that would top the cake for me.

As for repeating the same path over and over; CoF 1 is the fastest/easiest to bore yourself to tears with.
Tip: To maximize your gold from dungeons, buy RARE light armor pieces with your CoF (and higher level) dungeon tokens and salvage for ectos/silk.
TA (non-80 paths) are really easy and fast too, but most people do not do them for whatever reason.
HotW 1 is pretty fast, last boss is a bit of a pain though.
CoE 1,2,3 are all about the same and once you are experienced, fairly easy.AC and CoF 2 are actually some of the slowest paths you can do in the game. PuGs love them because they are very lolmode but they are the worst use of your time. Flissy’s breakdown is much more accurate for your time to gold investment.
You are of course best off running with an optimized team in a guild or with friends (and voice coms). You’ll complete much, much faster than possible in a PuG.
Fair enough; and I don’t PuG lol. My group finds AC quick enough and painless to complete in a relatively short time since every fight is stackable with FGS. Only slow part is the timed burrows in P3.

Stagnation. There is nothing new WvW has to offer. People get bored of the same stuff over and over again.
Some ideas:
New maps: Design new BL maps which will rotate randomly each week. (ie: green is never the same BL map every week)
New Environment Mechanics: Spice it up a bit. Give us realistic day/night cycles (you know, actually dark at night). Maybe some environmental effects which effect both sides (like fighting a war in a blizzard or desert heat wave).
Give us some build diversity. New skills, new traits to play around with. Have options, not just the standard zerg metas.
New mechanics in general. Both from NPCs and playstyle.
Make defense rewarding and fun.
Give better incentive to do well for your server. And not in a way which just makes people stack in high population servers all the time. Like, if a lower ranked server beats a higher ranked one, it gets some unique rewards.
Grant higher rewards for capping higher tiered keeps and towers. Also, give individual bonuses for helping to upgrade and defend objectives.

Guild gone from the list for everyone in the guild including the founder
Already have, just was wondering if anyone else had this happen.
So, my guild and I are puzzled. This morning when we logged on, no one was in our guild anymore. None of our leaders did it and nor were their accounts hacked. It simply doesn’t exist anymore.
Anet has been known to change the name of a guild without notice, but to delete one entirely? Has this happened before? We have been around for nearly 5 months and had upgraded the guild significantly.
Look at it this way. Most people go to EotM not because they are stuck in an overflow and want to get their WvW on, but because they choose this map over EB or a BL for something only EotM offers…. From what I can tell, the only thing EotM offers better than WvW is rewards. The WxP is better, the badges are better, the loot is better, the Karma and XP are better. So people flock there to “farm”. So, its understandable when they get a little kitteny when a commander decides to WP from taking an objective to defend one.
Don’t get me wrong, I like to “win” things too. But EotM has no incentive for winning. I like to try and win WvW because it rewards your server with a sense of pride and accomplishment. In EotM, there is no camaraderie or feeling of “doing good for your server”. We are only colors, and no one cares about that. If you want to spend your time and energy commanding for winning, why are you doing it in a place where it doesn’t matter? Go to WvW and win there.
To finish, let me clarify what I personally think makes a good commander in EotM.
I don’t care that it is recycled, its something to do until the new content arrives. I loved BotFW, glad its coming back for a bit. Also, wind/sun/lightning catcher skins should be available to earn again (hopefully)! No need to buy them off TP.
I got two drop within an hour of each other once…. the chances of that are crazy. But yeah, to echo everyone else: They still drop.

Learn to make fake inventories better dude. Only 64 items in your inventory. At least paste Eternity onto filled spaces so the numbers match up :p

You say all you do is fractals… I would get bored of that too.
You can always throw some other dungeons in the mix, maybe even challenge yourself and do them with less than 5 people.
Make a new character/class and learn its ins and outs. I have all 8, if I get bored playing one class too much, I just switch it up.
Your server doesn’t have to be good at WvW to have fun in WvW. Small scale WvW is a lot more fun for me than zerg-WvW (I have done both quite a bit). Get a party together and do some 5-man WvW — go further and try to synergize your builds/playstyle with one another. It is a level of skill much different than fractals — fighting AI is easy, fighting other people can be much more fun.
Try to get 100% map completion (although that can get boring too)
Also, on a side note: You can get ascended accessories from completing guild missions. Join a large guild that does all the missions once a week. In 2 weeks you can get one accessory (12 commendations).
I once had an awesome thought related to this. But it would require too much work and would never be implemented.
Each BL would have a unique map related to the server whose home it is. For example, Jade Quarry would resemble a jade sea type landscape whereas Crystal Desert would have a desert landscape. Each map would obviously have identical number of objectives and would have to be balanced so objectives were equally easy to defend and take.
But it would give a sense of uniqueness, spice things up, and gives the home server “home terrain advantage”…. ie: No one would know the tricks and secrets about your home map better than your own server.
While I know nothing like this will ever be put to action, there DOES need to be something added/changed to WvW before it gets stale. And don’t tell me EotM did that…EotM is not WvW.
Seriously though, 3 identical boring borderland maps? Come on, give us something new! New maps = new tricks/strategies = more fun = keeps people playing the game.

I only rly use zerker weapons so i prob might just craft an ascended zerker GS and use the twilight/sunrise skin on it.
So yea, not having much need for the stat swapping.You do realize that among the stats you can switch between, Berserker is one of them, at Ascended level?
I am sure he does. His point, I believe, is that he does not intend on ever switching the stats on them. So an ascended zerker GS is the same as a legendary zerker which you never change the stats for.
To the OP, I had this same dilemma when legendaries became account bound. I decided to keep my Eternity. I like it. The footprints are way better and larger, and the smokey aura it gives you is pretty cool. Its not just a switch between Sunrise and Twilight mentioned previously here, it has its own unique effects.
Signet of Rage for swiftness (get reduced cooldown on signet trait for more uses)
Greatsword [#3, #5 (turn off autotarget)] — both good movement skills
Sword/Warhorn [#2 (movement skill), #4 (for more swiftness)]
Bulls Charge (movement skill)
You can cross a map faster than any other class with this setup. Permanent swiftness and 4 movement skills.
EotM is the reason why Anet shouldn’t stack server to form a 3 way WvW. Nobody cares about defending because they don’t care about winning a match or at least put some efforts against the enemy. Who cares if “Badlands” or “Overgrowth” wins, who are they? Who am I playing with when I’m in EotM? No idea, I see a tag and just follow.
Sometime while trying to join with my commander, I might step into enemy zerg. Do you think I care to fight or going into that tower, build siege and stuff? No, I just jump to my death. I would die anyway, so nobody deserve my bag
So it has become a place to level alts and farm. No more no less. At the point that people rage if they see enemy defending.
I still don’t understand why people do this (the bold text), we still get your bag when you throw yourself off of a cliff (as long as we hit you). You have just made it that much easier/quicker for us to get it. So….. I guess thanks for the easy loot!
I go to EotM mainly for badges (to buy siege for real WvW) and to get some easy WxP.

Regular Mithril Picks on Rich Iron Vein gave me 10 hits. No different from before. Tested on multiple nodes and characters.
For AoE and tons of numbers an Elementalist comes to mind first. Specifically using a staff. Staff eles are very useful in all areas of the game: Dungeons, Fractals, WvW. They do however have a higher than average learning curve to achieve maximum effectiveness.
A second choice would be a Wellomancer (necromancer with wells). Lots of AoE and a good person to have in a zerg. However they are less effective in Dungeons/Fractals than a good Ele. (in my opinion of course)
Also, on a side note. Why is it we can salvage dungeon token gear but not badges of honor gear? In essence, badges are the WvW equivalent of dungeon tokens.
Don’t forget Engineer is medium as well
Definitely going to bump. This is a pretty important issue to many folks, especially since we had no warning of this beforehand.
I think the simplest fix would be to allow the items to be salvaged, but the only item which can be obtained is the rune/sigil (no ecto, no crafting mats).

It seems that the damage pop-up/indicator for the Mesmer GS auto-attack is bugged out and keeps incrementally summing the previous damage. Checked the combat log and the damage it is actually doing is normal.

Completed a regular map and got 1 charge. Did not try a city.
Stats for my elementalist are
OLD: 2380 power, 56% crit chance, 109% crit damage
NEW: 2380 power, 56% crit chance, 73% crit damageUsing some formula I found last night on the forums I found that I ended up losing around 15% of my damage. I still don’t see why this was needed since if they wanted to buff condi builds for PvE they should have just removed the cap on certain conditions. I never ran into a fractal group that required zerker gear since those that had it could carry the ones that weren’t able to pull their weight. I can see people asking for gear checks now.
According to my calculations, your AVERAGE DAMAGE (key word here), decreased by 10.66%. This is using formulas for average damage:
Average damage = Base damage * ( 1 + Critical Chance * ( Critical Damage + 0.5) )

Going to throw my 2 cents in here:
I predict FA beating HoD due to their experience fighting at these levels and superior tactics. On reset last night, HoD, YB, and FA probably queued all 4 maps. I know HoD did. Since player numbers were equal across the board for the first few hours, the leader of the reset night is clearly the superior strategist (as a server).
HoD is not used to fighting in higher tiers; the HoD you see has been honed in Bronze league and most of our (big) transfers come from either Bronze or bottom Silver. There is a different play style at this level that we as HoDians have not yet melded into our strategy. Unless we can adapt quickly, we will not be able to keep up with FA in the season. This week will be a close match because of our (apparently) superior coverage, but FA has the superior tactics… as far as I can tell that is.
I am not saying HoD cannot pull it off, but from what I saw last night we need to improve as a coordinated server rather quickly. If we win this week it will be from coverage, not because we are better. If we win, I would rather it be for the latter.

I agree that only siege should be able to damage gates. It is very frustrating as a defender to spend the time killing their siege only to have the gate broken by a horde of PvDers in just about the same amount of time.

What’s the point of having a massive influx of players if its all from the same time zone? You tend to:
A) Split up organized guilds and reduce effectiveness
B) Have no coverage at non-NA prime
We will see how the season pans out. But TBH, HoD has no chance against FA off hours. We may get top 3 in Silver, but no chance at the win. But either way, it will be nice to face off with some servers we have never really met on the battlefield
