Fine? I was just in a group with an 80, 68, a couple in the 40s and me, a 38. We repeatedly got our butts handed to us. We only really got through one fight, and that was by ‘stacking’ which seems to be somewhat controversial.
This is the first dungeon new players like me are likely to try. What a horrible experience.
I think challenge is great but it should scale properly to the levels of the players. The issue is that even downscaled, higher-level gear has more + stats, and higher-level players also have more traits and skills.
It scales properly, your problem is inexperience, though I agree that ac is one of the harder dungeons and I’m not sure if it’s intended to be that way, as I can usually breeze through cof, se and coe, but can sometimes encounter some problems running ac.
Without tank/healer/dps roles this game won’t end up well.
rofl. Trinity is the thing of the past, it’s robust, boring and the most challenging part in that format is usually finding the group, it also often leads into people playing classes they don’t want, because fe goup/guild or whatever needs another healer or smthng. Trinity opens the doors for a botting heaven as you can pretty much afk with atocasting for most of the encounters, now try doing that in gw2 dungeons and you’ll see the difference.
So stop QQ’ing and l2p.
For warrior.
Don’t take any signet traits, ever…
Swap signet of fury for shake it off or another banner. Ideally you want to either go full on shout build with healing shouts and runes of the soldier or full on banner build.
You don’t want to go full ptv build for any dungeon, fractals 28/38/48+ included, because you won’t do any damage and still won’t be as tanky as guardian. I personally like to go for ptv on my armor and then berserker or something similar for my accessories and weapon.
I don’t play guardian a lot, but I know one guy, who does all dungeons and fractals 48+ almost every day for over a year now and he said to me, that investing into healing or vitality for guardian is absolutely worthless, so you can take that for whatever it’s worth to you.
As for the easiest, guardian will probably be your choice, seconded with the warrior, other three are usually not that useful, unless you’re really good at the class. Simply from experience (over 500 fractals), when you have a team, consisting of rangers/engineers/necros in 38+ it usually doesn’t go very well, it’s ok to have one or two, but don’t be surprised, that when run will start getting off the rails people will start pointing fingers at you.
It’s no an exploit, maybe bad design.
If you are having skill lag, turn off your auto attack.
It has nothing to do with auto attack, it’s server issue. At least in WvW.
As for sound, I had the same issue occur two times two days ago, didn’t happen to me once over a course of a year+ before, didn’t install any new drivers/programs prior.
Also I found out, that if you ignore the sound issue and continue playing without reloading the game it eventually crashes (after few hours) with “serious error”.
CoF boss needs no fixing
Why? You just stand and push 1. Don’t even need to dodge, could very well replace him with a rock.
This one is probably very easy. If you’re on Vista, Win7, or Win8, it’s very possible that it’s Windows TDR ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff570088%28v=vs.85%29.aspx ). Personally, I feel that it’s the worst thing MS has done for gaming. The detection routines are WAY too aggressive. And Anet can not probably suggest this to you as it would make them liable for any problems that rose from it (I’ve been disabling it since MS implemented it and have had no adverse issues).
Basically you want to set TdrLevel to 0. By default it is 3. Look at the registry keys section of the link I sent you. Make sure to restart after making the change. Aside from that, without knowing more about your system, not much I can suggest. But overly aggressive TDR is typically the culprit of black screens.
I should mention that when I used to get black screens in games, then disabled Tdr, suddenly the games were 100% playable. No crashes, no black screens, no weird stutters.
Hey spork do you mind giving a step by step on how to do this?
Start -> regedit
go to this path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
look if there is a value
TdrLevel
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff569918(v=vs.85).aspx
if there is, change it’s value to 0, if there isn’t, push right mouse button on graphic drivers new -> DWORD value, call it TdrLevel, set it’s value to 0. Done.
Take note, that this could actually make you unable to quit black screen, without manual pover-off, I did it only because I couldn’t quit my black screens anyways.
(edited by Seveleniumus.5973)
Lupicus is fine and so is Arah overall, though I personally don’t like running through hordes of trash all the time, fix bosses, which actually need fixing, like fe jellyfish from aquatic fractal, which is nothing but boring, or cof p1 last boss, which is frankly pathetic.
Why do they force people to fight more trash, it’s just boring, it takes no skill, it just wastes your time, especially when you’re fighting dredge – the most annoying trash mobs of them all. Have they nothing better to do?
For a while there was a constant drone of cries for a reduction in Bloodstone Dust drops because people didn’t want to part with it and it was piling up on them. Now that the forum’s wish has come true, people are once again complaining. Be careful of what you ask for, you may get it.
No one’s complaining about Bloodstone Dust decrease man, lol, people are complaining about the silver drop decrease.
There is a raid – go do tequatl.
Meh, didn’t like much hammer anyways and always preferred rifle over longbow, as except from zerg clashes the only useful skill in WvW is 5.
So see you all.
Much love to you.
Maybe I’ll come back in a few months and things will have fixed. I’ll keep that hope in my heart.
But so long for now.Came to help, stayed for the sh*tstorm.

This didn’t help for me, but Spork’s sulution seems to be working, at least for now. Played ~8 hours today, no black screens.
All you need is one person, who is good at it, if the rest have done the path at least once or are good listeners and know their character well, there shouldn’t be any problems.

I’ll try out this one and come back to this topic if I’ll get anymore black screens.
I have the same issue, new gaming pc, checked for cooling, ram, power supply errors, rewrote windows, drivers and so on, everything works fine, still getting black screens in gw2, except I can’t even minimize them, I have to power-off my pc. I found, that turning postprocessing to low makes these black screens a lot less frequent, which is strange, because I have run other, much more demanding games on max settings and this doesn’t happen. Another strange thing – it never happens during WvW, or mass world boss events, I only get black screens when f.e. crafting in la or wandering through empty jumping puzzles, which doesn’t make any sense at all if that was a performance issue.
Trait “Shrug It Off” :
“Use “Shake It Off!” automatically when you have a number of conditions on you."
Now “Shake It Off,” when combined with runes of the soldier removes 2 conditions, however “Shake It Off” you get from this trait only removes one. It seems, that this trait doesn’t detect whether runes of the soldier are equipped or not.
Hammer :
has no mobility
does a lot less dps than gs
skill casting takes forever, making it almost useless in 1 vs 1 situationsyea, truly broken beyond belief.
Actually hammer is pretty kitten good in 1on1, not op, but it’s prettttty kitten good when used right. Hammer/longbow is a kitten sick combo to 1on1 with.
If your opponent has vigor or any other way to regain endurance you’re screwed, no matter how good you are. The only viable tactic I see is to not miss your immobilize and pray, that your opponent doesn’t have condi removal and even then you don’t really have that much damage to put anyone aside from zerkers down. I personally find rifle being more viable in 1 vs 1, with 10k+ triple shot. Situation changes, when you start adding more people into the fight, but as 1 vs 1 warrior with hammer is not scary at all, when compared to thiefs and eles f.e.
If you find rifle more viable in 1on1s then I’m sorry, you’re simply not fighting good players in 1on1 situations. Hammer is much more viable when bunkered correctly.
I meant rifle over longbow, not over hammer
Creatures with silver ring are now called Elites. REMEMBER THAT!

guys (and gals), sorry for the confusion, I said it in party chat that he was a kitten before I left, not after.
Because that makes a whole lot of difference. O.o It actually may be worse.

That’s very helpful… Not.
At least tell us how he in your opinion was hacking, otherwise it’s a completely useless post.
Some are afk at spawn, some are grinding sentries/dolyaks, some are roaming in jumping puzzles, it adds up…
With the new wxp bottles you can get 10+ ranks per day, if you run with a zerg.
So you all are basically so bad at PvP that you need to camp in half empty jp for hours, just for opportunity to backstab/knockback some unfortunate soul? I understand it’s PvP zone and if I meet someone along the way, I probably gonna try to knock them over, but camping seems pretty pathetic waste of time, at least in my eyes.
“Lots of JP’s at pve for peaceful players.”
Yea, but they put like 1/3 of living story achievements in WvW JP’s so many people are kinda forced into them.
If you are pressed for time and the enemy zerg is just over the horizon those with siege mastery should be on the rams. However if you are not being pressed there is no harm in letting those without mastery have a turn at the ram so they can fill their achievement quota as well.
You can do that achievement without using rams, of course, there’s another issue with dps’ing the gates. In eb you’re pretty much almost always being pressed. IMO that and repair achievement shouldn’t have been put in living story to begin with, but we need to deal with what we have and taking over I find as being the only one maybe brute, but efficient solution.
I find many of champ train participants to have a horrible attitude.
f.e. when we do a quaggan rush with a guild there’s a champion underwater wurm in the way, that we need to kill to help our guildies pass and we almost always get called “trolls” or “noobs” for doing so by champ farmers.
That sense of privilege, that no one can do champs but them I find very childish and pathetic.
If you’re prone to rage quitting, don’t start instances.
Especially if you quit after the first wipe, as an instance owner you should own up to keeping the group together, at least to some extent. If they don’t listen after the second-third wipe I find it justifiable and even then you don’t need to call them names, just say something like “sorry, I don’t have time for this” or even less personal “sorry, I gtg” and quickly leave without arguing further.
Especially apparent with new season 1 achievements, I personally find it very annoying when people with 0 particular siege mastery are spamming “F” and keep taking the sieges, even after you politely ask them not to several times. People with 0 ram mastery f.e. often are the main reason particular cap fails in close match-ups.
I feel this could be solved by adding additional layer in siege management. As of now, the owner of the siege can take over it whenever he wants and that’s fine, but there should be a secondary priority system so that person with higher particular siege mastery could take over the siege of a person with lower siege mastery, this would actually encourage new players to specialize in particular masteries and would give them some goal to reach to.
P.S. no, I don’t have all my masteries maxed out, I’m only lv 80 in WvW on my main and I’m fine with someone with higher skill level taking over particular siege from me.
Because I find them awesome and cute, imo probably the coolest race I have seen in any RPG, I have 3 asura’s, including my main and then 1 of each other race.
Well, I done over 200 fractal runs, most of them 20-50 and only got 2 skins – spear gun and short bow, so that’s pretty bad drop rate, imo, got bank full of useless rings though.
My analysis is that this game is a business, and this business makes money from its gem store. As long as something can be sold for profit, it’s never off the table completely. It’s likely a pretty simple cost/benefit breakdown involving a number of factors like how much they would have to sell the gems for to make money, impact on player satisfaction (those who would and would not purchase race change), and overall difficulty implementing.
Well, I don’t know what’s their code structure, but as a game developer I see such a task as an implementation nightmare. Even if they reset personal story completely, there are still problems with all the achievements, mission items, cultural items, cultural skills.
I don’t think there’s that much of a demand for it anyways, I met very few people, who wanted to change primary race on their char, so it may just not even be worth it.
Tested this in Mad King’s Labyrinth and Sure-Footed + Last Stand works fine, 13s of Stability which matches the tooltip.
Can you check defy pain too? I tried like 20 times and every time, I selected Sure-Footed, it wouldn’t work.
Retested this in PvP and PvE (HotM and Bloodtide Coast)
Sure-Footed + Defy Pain is broken even when health goes down as low as 11%.Last Stand still works with Sure-Footed + Last Stand + Defy Pain.
Ok, I might have messed up something while testing last stand then, but defy pain is definitely broken.

OK, I done some testing and it seems that the problem is with “Sure-Footed” trait, Defy pain and last stand doesn’t activate, when sure-footed trait is selected.
They were fine, why did you need to break them, these traits are critical to my build
Tested WvW and PvE.
Edit : seems that problem only occurs with defy pain + sure-footed

It happened to me and some of my guildies in AG too, the pattern usually goes like this : you get lag/skill lag, then something strange happens to your char, related to speed/time/warping, then you get a serious error message.
Since when does the term “alt-friendly” = all my alts automatically get the stuff I earned on another character? The logic applied to many of these arguments is ridiculous. Currencies are shared now so all your karma earned by your main can now be used to on your alt. Dungeon tokens are account bound. Titles are account bound. AP is account bound.
But just because I spend countless hours and gold earning something on my main, doesn’t mean my alts (of which I have 7) should automatically get free stuff.
There are a couple things that would be better if it were account wide. But things like fractal ranks…I think the idea is that Anet doesn’t want you bringing a fresh alt in rares with 0AR and little dungeon experience into a lvl 38 fractal, just cuz your warrior is geared hardcore.
By the point you reach lv 50+, you have enough rings and usually enough other resources to fully gear your alts with agony resistant equipment. All my three alts have 45 AR and I usually can’t use them, because they have lv 1 reward level in fotm.
Doing higher levels of fractals is actually EASIER and FASTER, because you have people, who know what they’re supposed to do. Just because you roll a new class it doesn’t mean you suck at fotm again and need to start from scratch, your statement is absurd.
I start getting skill lag when there’s about ~60+ people fighting it out, it’s really annoying when you go down with endure pain, balanced stance and heal unused.
Main reason to play is to have fun. Zones and dungeons are not dead, it makes sense, that people gravitate to more rewarding content, but imo it ads to it’s charm when you for example discover some abandoned cave with a jumping puzzle at the end, just like in real life, if you want solitude you can explore more obscure and hidden places and if you want to socialize, you go with a flow.
I care about personal story, I did it on three chars, though I skip through all Trahearne stuff after the first one.
Legendaries should be account bound.
FotM rank should be account bound.
Dungeon stories should be account bound.
If they implemented these three it would be extremely helpful in being alt-friendly department.
In general, the more things are account bound instead of soulbound, the more alt friendly game becomes. Account wide magic find and unlockable skins was step in the right dirrection, I hope they’ll continue to make this game more alt friendly, because I have 3 lv 80’s and 5 more underleveled chars.
We managed to complete the path, but after a first few wipes holograms stopped spawning, making it much harder, as we were incapable of interrupting bosses super move.
Let me answer your questions:
1) Only one server, out of all servers, was able to beat Teq on the first day. Don’t see how you think this makes the content easy since it was beaten.
2) BlackGate is full of really really REALLY good players. Really.
3) Having a map full of people does not guarantee a win. See point #1.
4) If you want to generalize the content in those terms, I could say that beating Tequatl requires you to turn on your computer, log in, play, and win. There’s more to winning than your four steps, and I know you understand it.
Ok, so let’s say I have an active guild of 500 people, I post a message of the day about Tequatl, 100 of them show up, I read a guide 1 time, make sure that all members join on TS, we fail first two times, because people fail on the turrets and we still have not weeded out all randoms, we beat it third time. Was it difficult? No. Now you may say, that running an active guild IS difficult and I will not disagree on that, but it has nothing to do with the fight itself. You either have resources at your disposal or you do not, there isn’t really that much space for skill as the only requirement is to DPS as fast as possible.
If too many people in the map refuses to waypoint when dead, .
I thought Anet designed the game so people got rewarded when they helped someone down or dead?
So the Teq content is designed that if you die you have to waypoint cause no one will help you, what sort of game design is that oO? I thought they were against this type of thing?
Its simple. It takes too long to rez someone from fully dead in combat. You lose too much damage.
Stop being lazy and take the 30 seconds to run back(not directed at you).
I stand by what i say Stx, you can’t design a game which promotes community spirit to take it away in an event which makes it every man or woman for themselves. No wonder so many groups fail the event.
So people should res you, while your body lies in a poison cloud and get killed themselves? When there’s already 20 other bodies lying around? If you are waiting for someone to res you, you ARE playing for yourself.
If you didn’t contribute to the kill, then you can’t claim you killed him. Same for AFKers. If a player refuses to learn how to play and get better, they suffer in the long run. Then these players won’t be able to do other content without having to rely on people to carry them. If it’s fun for that player to be bad and be carried, to each his own.
You can’t prevent people from piggybacking into this Elite Content, just as you shouldn’t prevent these same people from participating in Elite Content because they’re bad.
If it’s so elite, why did they complete it on first day?
What’s difficult about turning on your TS and standing under commander?
It’s not the matter of difficulty, you either have enough people or you don’t. If you have enough people you still may fail few times, but you will complete it soon enough. If you don’t have enough people, it won’t matter how “elite” you are.
Tequatl fight basically goes like this:
Step 1: stand in one place, spam skills
Step 2: run to defend the laser
Step 3: run back
Step 4: go back to step 1
which part of it is difficult?
Now I’m not necessarily saying that it’s not fun, but it doesn’t really seem that complicated to me…
lol, I love how most of you just read the topic and respond whatever.
I’m just saying that beating Tequatl doesn’t make you a better player or “elite” like many claim. I beat it today with my guild and wasn’t even downed once, does that make me a better player? No, I just turned on TS and followed commander tags, there’s nothing difficult about it and there isn’t any kind of special skill involved. The most difficult part was actually getting into the right overflow. It is a fun encounter to do, when you have ability to organize a lot of people, but it is not an “ozmg elite content.”So to you, understanding mechanics and following orders to beat hard content, doesn’t make it hard anymore? Well…. yeah, that’s the whole purpose of learning. Clock Tower was hard, until I knew what to do. It’s still a challenge.
PS – It’s still Elite Content.
So if random noob will get into winning overflow and will “beat” Tequatl by standing in the corner and shooting at fingers, he will transform into elite?
There’s no “I” in “TEAM”.
Exactly, that’s why beating Tequatl doesn’t make you a better player.

If that’s difficult then so is Tequatl imo. Opinions may vary. Pretty much everyone from my guild that bothers with it beat SAB tribulation.
I beat Tequatl at third try, I died about 10 times in infantile, so yeah, from individual skill point of view, SAB is much more difficult.
