I feel you man, that’s why I always run fractals with guildies or make a group myself and make sure I’m the one, who enters the instance – some people are just jerks. I would never kick anyone, even if they suck and die all the time, except the situations where they would be rude to the rest of the group, deliberately prevent progression or go afk/log off for longer than 10-15 minutes.

OP… The game only starts at lv 80. Join a guild, go on a dungeon/WvW runs, do guild missions, try to complete all achievements, try to get 100 % map completion, do fractals 1-30 to get your ascended gear, farm for legendary, collect minis, try out other professions.
If you still feel like there’s nothing to do maybe you should take a break from this game? Come back in a month or so, things will feel different then

I hate it too, but density is much better than it was before, however what annoys me the most is that they all cast cripple/immobilize and seem to pursue you for much greater distances than regular mobs do, so when I actually stop to fight them I have 4-5 of them on the leash.

Down leveling is one of the best features this game has. You are more powerful than you was before, because you have more skills/traits and have a better hang of your character overall(hopefully).
We can’t have “no levels at all.” Because there would be newbies running around and getting massacred in Orr, because lv 80 content is more challenging than lv 1 content. That’s also why we have level caps on dungeons and AR at fractals.

You’re either:

1. Trying to do areas with mobs 10+ your level.
2. Trying to do group events alone.
3. Trying to kill champions alone.
4. Wandering WvW alone.

There’s no reason you should be having any trouble doing regular dynamic events or other regular pve content with your guardian, no matter how bad you are, heck I can solo many of the group events with my warrior.

I also never really had an issue of “zones being dead.” Sure, some are more populated than the others, but eventually, you encounter someone and there’s usually always someone linking events in the map chat.

you see, your assumption that I am a total noob and cant do anything is not only arrogant, its wrong.

If you cant be constructive, instead of posting like this and being defensive why bother?

How am I being defensive? I didn’t call you “a total noob” – you did.
I was just trying to help you out, giving hints to what you may be doing wrong.
Please give me an example of a regular event you can’t solo, or any non-champion, non-dungeon proper level mob, who can one shot you.

Yeah, they really should put in the option for leader to pass his position to someone else. On the other hand – the leader deserves to have some form of control, because he’s the one, who went through trouble assembling the group in the first place, it’s just that many people don’t understand that with such control also comes a responsibility, that’s why, when I run fotm with pug, I always make sure, that I’m the one, who created the group and I’m the one, who entered the instance, because I can account for myself, that I would never rage-quit and screw my party in such way, just because we had some bad luck or some coordination issues – I’ll keep trying as long, as the rest of the party will be willing to

Seveleniumus.5973

Block me. i was probably the one who started the ‘ping your gear or kick’ trend.

Pretty fun to see everyone calling me an elitist and blocking me and whispering me with rage comments after I kick them.

But then again, my standards were of equal or lower standards than that of GW1. If you went to GW1, you’d really be crying.

To get an idea, most end-game hard mode dungeon groups often require voice chat to be in the group. They often ask to ping gear and build. In PvP, you’d need to type /rank to show you have a certain rank. etc..

It makes me laugh when GW2 is the only game I’ve played when I was ever been called an elitist. Not like my standards have changed. Fun how gw2 is so dumbed down that there almost is no more standards. People think it works because GW2 is such a zerg game where people cannot even see how inefficient their build is. I’ve even seen bleed axe warriors. Of course, that’s an insta-kick for me.

…and while you’ll be wasting your time, worrying about all that we’ll be running whatever build we like and, you know, having fun with it. The only thing that slows down the run in any significant manner is the wipes, which are common occurrence in full on zerker parties.

Seveleniumus.5973

In GW2 you can avoid damage.

Enter the downed state. When a giant monster smacks you in the face and puts you down; I can run up to you and heal you. But get this; my healing is uninterruptable by damage and the rate of healing is usually greater than the incoming damage. This mechanic turns everyone into healers.

Have you played any dungeons/pvp? If you’re ressing someone, it means you’re not protecting yourself and effectively having two people out of combat instead of one, while mobs/enemies are freely raining damage on you. Ressing can be interrupted by daze/knockback/knockdown or just by downing the ressing party.

Downed state is there to prevent cheap and one-hit kills and it’s a great improvement over a traditional system.

Also, ability to avoid damage means it becomes much more about skill rather than your build, making most of the content solable, if you’re good enough and that’s a GOOD thing.

If you know the encounters good enough and if you’re good enough at dodging – sure(although you can only dodge so much), but if you’re (as you said) a semi-casual I don’t think zerker build would be the best choice for you, I’d suggest a half-zerk rather than a glass cannon. If you only want this for cof dps is only important for bosses and if you’re perfect at every other part it’s only the question of 1-3 minutes of difference betweekittenerker group and the one with more casual approach.

I myself play a P/V/T + some healing shout warrior with a hammer + rifle. I take the supportive approach of healing/removing conditions, CC’ing and granting might/vulnerability or whatever else party needs and in the end I do not do that much less of a damage than my DPS thief, who usually goes down in one or two hits.

Ever dared to compare your damage output to what a standard zerker warriors does?

In any case it all comes down to, well – fun. It’s so redundant to see all these 100 blades warriors zerking all the time, when this game has so many other weapon combinations to choose from.

Why people so often fail to realize that maximizing effectiveness may also be – as you name it – fun…

As I said – I don’t like playing zerker warrior and I don’t play DPS build, I play support/CC build, why would I worry if someone does more damage than me? I don’t join “zerker” groups, so it never was an issue. I often end up saving those same DPS warriors, when they rush into a front line and get downed in seconds.

IMO it’s no fun in copy paste’ing latest “best” build and running around with a bunch of clones. Why even bother to put different weapons/traits in the game if everyone will be running the same build all the time?

Some clarification on dungeon class balance

Posted by: Seveleniumus.5973

Seveleniumus.5973

Don’t worry, just enjoy the content, like you said yourself – just ignore the elitist, who refuse to take one or another class/build with them, you’re better off in any case as those “elite” groups are often quick to quit/kick/rage or whatever when something goes wrong.

Classes are balanced enough that while you may wanna adjust your solo pve build a little, you’ll still do just fine after a few attempts.

Dungeon Etiquette: Attitude and Behavior

Seveleniumus.5973

What you forgot:

- Using defensive Equipment (P/V/T or similars).

I do not know any situation in whole GW2 Dungeons where berserker’s equipment wouldn’t be the best choice by far. You just screw down DPS to survive longer yourself. Nothing else. It’s same as doing fight’s ranged that are easily doable melee.

- Not following the advice of more experienced players.

I’ve lately had a 5 Signet Warrior who refused to change his Utility Skills. In the party have also been a P/V/T Guardian without Wall of Reflection, Stand your Ground or Retreat. And a Mesmer using 3 Signets and Hounds of Balthasar. They all didn’t listen, died at fighting, died at running, died at.. everything. And didn’t even do damage.

Completely disagree. GW2 have all these different builds, people should be allowed to play whatever build they want. I would rather have full party of people with defensive builds than the one in which someone gets downed every 10 seconds and then other people follow him, while trying to res. There are very few instances where DPS > survival and not everyone put 1k hours or so to become an expert on dodging or ran the same dungeon hundreds of times, majority of people get hit eventually and when they’re running glass cannon builds they go down and go down fast, no matter what dungeon they’re in.

Overall pve world is built for exploration, you’re supposed to enjoy uncovering it bit-by-bit. If you’re seeing it all just as a grind for leveling up, then you’re doing something wrong.

With my hammer + rifle I can easily solo any veterans, mob packs in Orr, I also solo’ed some mid level group events and champions. I’m often last man standing in dungeons and don’t need to be afraid to tank most of the enemies, unlike fe my lv 80 thief, who spends most of his time laying downed, unless I start spamming my stealth.
