“Dungeon master” because that’s why I got it, lol.
Also it helps with initial image as player, who ran every dungeons path at least once (in most cases) bound to have at least some sort of dungeoning experience.
I just did Fotm lvl 16 and our last level was the giant with seals. We messed up on the glitch where you keep a certain chanter alive so a whole lot more don’t spawn in the (alternatively destroy 2 seals part).
We tried to beat it the normal way but the chanters just out regened the seals to full before we could get back from the previous smash. We were running big aoe builds and even clearing seals before we left the certain area to go to the next.
This glitch is common knowledge to any fractal runner and if you mess it up , it causes a group disband in most cases. It literally is the only way the giant seal level can be beaten past 20.
It shouldn’t be a problem on lv 16, it starts becoming a problem at ~24-ish, still doable, depending on group composition though, you just need a better tactics.
If you do fractals getting ring is pointless, I’m at lv 32 of fractals now and I have ~20+ rings I don’t need.
1. Guard (if he knows how to properly use wall of reflection, bubble and so on).
2. War (if he isn’t just a zerker wanna be and doesn’t face-plant every 10 seconds).
3. Mesmer (same as guard – if one knows how and when to use portal, time warp etc) .
Did you put rune into your breather?
That’s odd… I could have sworn ‘On my mark’ always had 900 range. Maybe ANet updated the tooltip to 1200 but didn’t increase the actual range?
That might actually be the case. In the patch notes:
“On My Mark!” skill: Now uses its actual range instead of infinite range. Increased the range of the shout from 900 to 1200.
But it’s clearly still at 900.
Well, if you already have map completion and only want to farm, there’s not much point – yeah, rewards scale up, but if you wanna farm you’re much better off doing dungeons/chasing world bosses or running event chains in Orr.
On the other hand, I feel empowered revisiting newbie areas, remembering how hard I struggled at the beginning and how easy it all looks now and mostly not because of gear and skills, but knowledge of the game and my character.
Yes in an open world – with my war I can obliterate huge groups of trash/veterans and many of champions, but no so much in harder dungeons(arah, fractals 30+).
Having the same issue, “On my mark” now seemingly has ~900 range.
On my mark now supposedly should have 1200 range but it doesn’t, it’s 800 or something around that, I use it often with a rifle and after update I now often get “out of range” message, besides the fact that I can hit the target with my 1 rifle skill, which has 1200 range. It’s really annoying, please fix this.
The point is to create urgency for players to log in, so you couldn’t say “oh, I’m playing something else, I may come back for this in a month or so.” They want you to log in NOW. At least that’s how it works from the marketing stand point. I do not necessarily agree with this approach, but hey – free new content is free new content, even if it’s limited time only.
Done lv 36 yesterday, got 0 rares, 0 shards and a ring I already had.
On the contrary, while doing lv 28 a day prior I got 2 exotics, 5 rares, a shard and 2 lodestones and we didn’t even get any of the long fractals(we got cliffside and dredge on 36).
The chests imo are too random, they could do something that you get guaranteed a rare from third fractal or smthng ( so people couldn’t abuse it and everyone would be happy).
I agree, they should stop with temporary content, they could start by not getting rid of sab f.e.
In theory yes, in practice – no…
Not everyone is perfect in this game and not everyone has 24/7 spare time to “get better” in every dungeon there is + WvW +sPvP in this game. If one can not survive, zerker gear is worthless. I run a war with 3k armor and ~28-30k health and I’m often the last man standing and many times are left to solo the last dungeon boss, when all the “standard” zerker teammates go down.
I also like the basic idea of being able to sustain some punishment and being able to run through trash mobs like they’re nothing, I can not do that with zerker gear as every smallest mistake can get me downed. If I can solo most of the dungeons with my Berserker Warrior that says something about being practical (with 5 guys it’s a lot more easier). You are feel free to try with your PVT-gear.
As you said, with Berserker-gear you have less room to make mistakes so people want to kill stuff as fast possible. Then if you have few guys rolling with low damage bunkers/tanks it gets much harder for glass-cannons because fight lasts longer. Also if you are supposed to be a tank and you aren’t protecting your teammates then what’s supposed to be your role?
Yes for skipping PVT-gear is obviously better because you aren’t dealing any damage, however all skips are quite easy.
I run a shout warrior, so I heal, buff/debuff, remove conditions, kite (as with 3k armor I usually get the most aggro) and with axe x axe I can still reach 50 % critical with 50 % increased critical damage, so I also DO a lot of damage , not that much less than any zerker build, enough to solo bosses and champions in a reasonable amount of time without the need to be perfect at everything I do.

I run a shout warrior for a while now, I have healing shouts and runes of the soldier, while I love the build, I must admit, that specing in healing is worthless. You’ll never heal as much as guardian f.e. Healing shouts are great and they saved me in many situations, but I never noticed much of a difference weather I had 300 or 1k in my heal stat, it’s much better to invest into damage or toughness/vitality.
Well, you don’t have much of a choice but to kill all of the non-inifinite re-spawning mobs in dredge fractal and I have never had any mists drop from that particular fractal through levels 1-28. I think it’s just a coincidence in your case, for one to confirm it you would have to do at least 100 fractals in such way, with at least 50 % mists drop rate.
I mostly had insta fall deaths after spamming my stability skills, not sure if it’s related.
Game actually STARTED for me when I hit lv 80 and joined the active guild.
I would probably buy them.
Well, I usually just go around, minding my own business, then near the end of my play I either have already completed it or have something like 4/5, so I just finish it in 5 mins and log off I already have ascended set, so I don’t really need the laurels much and don’t feel like I’m forced to do anything.
Well, the curse seems to be finally broken, done lv 26 and 30 today and got 1 shard from each ;P 1 dropped in shaman fractal, from the group at the start and the other one dropped before the maw Whatever happens from now on, at least I will be able to complete my back-piece, so I’m happy. Thanks to all for moral support.
Do you skip mobs, or do you kill everything? Just curious.
I kill everything before the Maw, otherwise skip, as I have 4 other people running with me and it’s not a common practice to farm everything in other fractals, in any case you can’t skip much in dredge/ascalon.
I have like 15 of each extra. I spent months collecting those. you should also have to spend months collecting them
Well, I already spent like 2 months+ getting to lv 26, this is not counting the time I spent on my other toon, who’s currently at lv 10, while I only ran lv 20+ for two weeks now – 1 vial in two months+? 0 globs, 0 shards? Come on…
Take a shot every time you get a vial of condensed mists essence drop.
Not gonna be a problem as I only got 1 from 200 fractals, lol.
I agree that there should exist some easier dungeon with lesser rewards, to help newbies to get a hang of dungeon mechanics, but I don’t think they should nerf the difficulty on the existing ones.
…1,2k+ hours …
Take a break man, you clearly burned out… There will never be enough content for hardcore players. Or like others suggested – join a guild and try out more of a social approach to the game.
Well, mesmers/necros could change their traits/weapons so they won’t summon any clones/minions for the maw fight (though I agree, that you shouldn’t have to deal with that). It’s ok when you have one of these in your party, but if you have something like 2xranger + mesmer it can really drag out the fight as maw sometimes specifically targets pets and pets only for whatever reason.
Yea, but it’s kinda depressing when someone has 50 of them and you struggle for a month and get nothing ;(
So I reached lv 26 and the only one I got overall was 1 vial (from lv ~16), which I’m very thankful about, because it let me make my ascended back piece, I’m sure I’ll eventually get infused ring drop from daily chest as I already got one, but I need 1 more shard/glob to make infused back piece and I just don’t get it. I heard other people have lots of them, I know one guys who has 50, so what the crud? I done ~12+ lv 20 runs and still am at zero. 0 globs, 0 shards, 0 vials. Is it possible that mists drops are somehow bugged on my acc? Or am I just insanely unlucky? I wish there were more ways to obtain them rather just RNG, 20 pristine relics for one shard f.e. as of now I’m getting increasingly annoyed other this thing. Any peeps out there not getting any shards either?
What I´d like to know how many fractals you need to do to reach level 10 or 20 timewise?
Well, if you have a good group you can do one run in 1-2 hours, depending on your luck, probably even faster than an hour if you get swamp + ascalon + underwater and run uneven level, so you don’t do the maw, so it’s roughly ~20+ hours to level until 10 and then another 20 o get to 20. You get random ascended ring from daily chest in 4-5 fractal runs, starting from 10, seemingly more often from level 20.
2.7k armor seemed a little low-end to me, imo 3k works best, may not be the most optimal usage of your points, however you can FEEL the difference, after that, 3.3k still feels like an improvement, but not that much and you basically have no points left to put into your crits to get at least 20 % crit chance and damage increase, so it’s usually not worth it.
You usually CAN melee anything, but it doesn’t mean you always should do it. Make sure to retreat and pull out your ranged weapon, when your health gets too low. It all comes down to knowing the content, knowing how and when to dodge and knowing which skills to use. Keep running the dungeons, listen to what more experienced players say, look up some guides to help you out and you should be fine after some time.
I would love if they made it so warrior’ burst skill grants condition immunity for 3 seconds since it’ll add alot of dynamic game plays around this rather than the current situation where all warriors just run around with full adrenaline bar.
Doing this gives the warrior good high and low threats rather than be a walking free kill when other classes just outsustain or perma chill/cripple them into oblivion.
Well you can use shouts + runes of soldier, that’s 3 condition removals you can get every ~25/30 secs (shake it off now removes 2 conditions) + another condition removal if you take that healing skill.
Well, at least they have done this before you guys were in, so there wasn’t really an actual harm done, besides the emotional part.
Well this sounds stupid, if I was in your situation I would probably have left myself as they clearly had no idea what they were doing. 3 or at least 2 people need to alternate the hammer, otherwise you won’t be able to complete it.
in ten minutes it was barely below half health
O.o what were you guys doing?
and this:
I’d kill my acolyte and somebody else would kill theirs. Then the other two would just stay up for a minute before dying
Uhm, why? Just help kill the other acolytes if you’re done with yours.
Anyways it’s strange you did bring your gear up as it clearly had nothing to do with the kick. My war has 3k+ armor and I have never been kicked.
People gonna complain about minor things, that’s what they always do, but no matter how much they’ll complain that won’t change the fact, that GW2 as a whole is the best MMO RPG ever made.
Well, simply speaking, you’ll decrease your pc’s “load” this will transfer to lower voltage, lower temperatures and more stable performance. My old pc f.e. used to crash every two hours, while playing gw2, then I set the frame limit and the crashes went away.
Don’t join zerker groups, you may waste additional few minutes with random group, but they really aren’t relevant in the bigger picture.
I don’t understand the question, because all of the gw2 content is “end-game” content…
It does not entirely depends on the level you run or the reward level you posess, but it’s like 80+% based on it.
But the main point is, if you got enough Shards/ Globs, just break them into Vials.
My point is, that I’m not getting any of those. I got 1 vial, that’s it. 0 shards, 0 globs. Oh well, will just have to keep trying, I guess.
Warrior for pve as you can do a pretty decent damage without being a glass cannon like thief, though thief shines in pvp with all its utility skills.
the type that drops depends entirely on the level I believe so running 20+ your probably only going to see shards drop and such.
As for the actual drop rates, they are quite low, however you have a much higher chance of finding them drop in the solid ocean fractal (90% of all the mists I’ve seen drop in teams have come from that fractal)
Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard, so I always make sure to farm all the mobs before the maw and only do even levels, but still no luck in getting any essences ;/
Put your trait points in toughness or vitality, equip hammer / rifle or mace + shield / rifle, try to buy the best available gear from tp.
Try to map all your skills to buttons, so you can learn to operate them accordingly, try to get better at dodging/strafing. As you’re leveling up your main goal should be learning your character, after you’ll get better with him, you’ll be able to gradually trade off some defensive stats for dps, dps doesn’t matter much anyways at lvl 25, as you can breeze through most of the mobs with any up-to-level weapon set and dps is useless if you’re dying/running away from mobs all the time.
Make sure that you’re the one, who starts the party and the instance.
Anyways, I can’t see how this be happening to you “every other run” , because I did hundreds of dungeon and fractal runs and NOT EVEN ONCE anyone was kicked for any other reason than logging off and not coming back in 10+ minutes without saying anything.
Hello guys, I was just wondering what chance do you have to get Mists Essences? I ran about 200 fractals lvls 10-28 and all I got was 1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence. Is it like very low and pretty much comes up to blind luck? Should I just give up on making infused rings/capacitor or does it get better at levels past 30 or so?
Hammer can be useful in dungeons, there are many instances where you are bombarded with tons of mobs and CC really helps in those situations (f.e. cof p2 protect event, pretty much most of the at ac, except bosses, Urban Battlegrounds Fractal, Dredge fractal and so on).
I currently run Hammer|Axe x Axe / Rifle and find myself switching between Hammer and axes rather often.
It seems you need a longer break.
If you just play the game dailies will do themselves, they always do, especially now, when they added new options. Yea, of course they want people to log in everyday, why wouldn’t they? DUH. Just skip whatever days you don’t feel like playing, 1 laurel isn’t that much anyways.
