If thieves are so OP, why aren’t you playing one?
isnt it obvious because if they play thief they suck at it and if others play thief they get owned and they QQ nerf QQ
So are you implying that all the Thief players who say L2P are actually giving useless advise because of a very real possibility that not all can play Thief properly?
You don’t have to play thief properly to play against a thief properly. You just simply have to understand what the capabilities of the profession are. That is why experienced thieves spam L2P.
That is perfect for ANet. No player should complain about any class skill because it is simple a L2P issue. No buff needed. No adjustment required. Warrior healing signet QQ = L2P. Mesmer PU QQ = L2P. Thief stealth QQ = L2P.
You don’t have to play [INSERT CLASS HERE] properly to play against a [INSERT CLASS HERE] properly. You just simply have to understand what the capabilities of the profession are. That is why experienced [INSERT CLASS HERE] spam L2P
Reminder guys, this is about Stealth not thieves. Last I checked there is a thief class forum.

A lot of people already have spoken about this mechanic, keep this reclaim in anet eye and lest no stop until our voice reach the goal.
here some suggestions :
1- Stealth counter
2- no stealth combo finisher
3- 1 sec cast time to enter stealth
4- less spammable mechanic
5- break stealth upon enter battle or until damage is receive
6- increase damage on stealth playersanymore suggestions?
A lot of people don’t want to learn how to counter stealth. That doesn’t mean that it needs a hard counter or any of these other things in addition to what already exists. That just means a lot of people are not willing to put in the effort and would rather complain on the forums instead.
The mechanic that lets my mes drop phants from stealth and thus effectively still deal damage while still being stealthed is kinda jacked up though… but the vast majority of the threads are about thieves (like this one).
Oh great enlightened one, how does one counter stealth? You said so many words but did not mention any point or content.
If Anet does end up giving in to all the whine about stealth counters they’d better implement some serious buffs to the class at the same time. 90% of the thieves are already laughably easy to down on pretty much any other class I play. I guess the players who can’t be bothered learning how to counterplay thieves themselves need a button they can press to instantly drop a thief out of stealth and reveal him.
Ignoring self praise and unrelated comment…
What Anet needs to do is to add “a button they (players) can press to instantly drop a thief out of stealth and reveal him.” – Okaishi
Yeah, well, I’d like buttons to instantly remove stability, blocking, protection, aegis and more of those annoyances. There are such buttons, but they are rare, just as there are drop-out-of-stealth buttons, that are equally rare.
You can counter stealth, entering stealth and the use of stealth. Not a failsafe 100% always, but that is never the case in this game.
Original post says “There is no counter to stealth”. You said “You can counter stealth, entering stealth and the use of stealth”. Perhaps you can contribute better by elaborating further on why you find “There is no counter to stealth” incorrect.
BTW I am ignoring that other person
You don’t need visual clues, you need to get into their mind. I find it easier to hit my own c&d on thieves in stealth then on most non-thief players.
Not all can think like a thief.
That is something you can learn, hence why it really is a learn-to-play issue.
Anyone in stealth can be anywhere. Not a L2P issue.
They could be ‘anywhere’, but they won’t, they’ll be where they think is the best place to be – and that is precisely where your thinking has to be. So again, it is a L2P issue.
Btw, I believe they had damage numbers visible in early testing/beta, but that was changed before release. The reason is obvious, it completely negates stealth, which might give you the free lootbags you’re so desire, but it is hardly ‘balancing’.
I appreciate your comment but you are at the wrong post. I believe your reply fits better in the " There is no counter to stealth" post.
In case you missed it, this is the “Suggestions for balancing Stealth” post.

Not all can think like a thief. If it works for you then good for you. If you play against you then you will play differently so you cannot guess you.

1. On weapon hit, avatar blurs before going back into stealth.
2. On weapon hit, damage appears where avatar in stealth was hit without blurring.
3. Hit points reset timer will not start while in stealth.
No trolling please. Just serious comments. Reminder guys, this is about Stealth. Not Thieves. Not Mesmers. Last I checked there is a thief/mesmer class forum.
EDIT: #2 is different from #1 because the avatar will not blur into screen at all. Just the weapon damage.
(edited by ShakeyStorm.7180)
For me
WvW: Greatsword for gap closing and escape
PvP: Longbow
PvE: Axe for damage
For you: Use all and get a feel for all of them. Your play style will tell you.
I think the point of this build is to deal as much damage in the shortest possible time. If it becomes unfavorable, escape with greatsword.
Question: Have you tried using Healing Surge after axe burst to keep damage bonus at max? Have you considered using Sigil of Intelligence instead of Sigil of Battle for your axe to guarantee a critical hit eviscerate?
(edited by ShakeyStorm.7180)
Did not know it revived only DOWNED players. I thought I remembered it can revive defeated players. Oh well. Thanks for the quick clarification.
Last I read was 2800 armor
I noticed that using the standard on allies well within AOE are not raising them. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
I don’t understand at all how a nerf to critical damage is a buff to healing signet at all, when all other classes’ heals are not affected at all.
because healing signet is superior to any other heal in the game
Which doesn’t mean it actually got buffed with the new ferocity change, more so in relation to other heals.
It’s more about the increased unlikelyness of being able to outpace warrior passive regen, because there simply isn’t very much you can do about it.
After the patch, it will be slightly harder for non-zerkers to deal more damage than warriors can passively heal. This isn’t as much of an issue on other classes because there are more ways to prevent heals (interrupts, well-timed poisons instead of having to permapoison).
I don’t really think it’s that much of an issue, because the ferocity change won’t affect PvP and WvWvW balance is nonexistent anyway.Unless you go a conditions which seem to be unchanged in this next coming patch.
Yeah, but conditions are already pretty obnoxious. I’m more referring to the people who don’t go full on zerker or full on cleric, but try to get some survivability while still getting damage (not me, I go full direct damage 24/7). Those are the ones who will have a harder time with passive sustain after the patch, and will either have to spec further into damage as a result or just not face warriors.
Again, not something that affects me personally, but definitely something I could see being an issue.
Zerker warriors will be softer post patch because trinkets will go zerker as well. We “will either have to spec further into damage as a result or just not face <insert profession here>”. Warrior condition is not as dependable as other’s condi but we make do with what is given.
Yea but this guys using a power build with a sword which is just not good enough damage…
I cannot take you seriously. I have a hammer. The sword helps me nuke/move around and put up bleeds for 10% more damage from traits. It’s great paired with hammer. The auto attack is not good enough to use for burst damage if that is what you mean. I only use that to put up bleeds. I’d like you do run this build and then complain about the damage being to low… Lawl.
OP asked for feedback and Seerstrange delivered so back of. This thread is not about you build but what you think about OP’s build.
OMG Just saw how AWESOME Guardian is on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibP7ovlhMLE . Cannot imagine a Warrior jumping in a mob of 20+ players eating up all the conditions being thrown at him and still come out with half a life. On top of that, he stopped for a while in the middle of the battle with his tome for a few seconds. Look it up and see if your game play as Guardian is as good as he was. Maybe the devs are right. Guardian is in a good spot right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibP7ovlhMLE
Congratulations, you have found someone who can showcase their best moments for all to see while leaving out every instance of failure.
Welcome to the internet, I will be your guide today.
Showing a video with an organized group roflstomping a zerg of disorganized, underlevelled/undergeared newbies is not generally the most convincing argument.
I’m sure I could compile videos of all the times I crushed someone horribly on my 30/10/0/0/30 arcane/conjure zerker staff ele, but that by no stretch of the imagination makes that build powerful.
If you read the youtube comments, it is used as a guardian guide. If you can post a outnumbered 8vs20+ video using an elementalist then that would be awesome. Also please post it to the elementalist forum so other elementalists can learn from them. We’ll be waiting. Not unless you are just bluffing hmmmmm?
I think this is what people want us to become.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Why-is-ranger-pet-better-then-Warrior/first
Lmao that thread brings back memories. So many new people just completely unaware how Warrior used to be rock bottom in PvP not too long ago.
And now they’re at the very top of the food chain, dominating all. They get to feel what it’s like to be at the top in every way…including unnecessary nerfs. God knows how many the Ranger class has seen.
Now that we are better than your pets, can we be your pets instead?
Bad thieves cannot pull this off. Specially those who have several level 80s therefore they become experts even without skillfully playing a skill based profession.
The Steal mechanic is underused by many players due to the lack of control over the results. My proposal is to update the mechanic to let thieves steal 3 items, and choose which one they want to use.
- F1: Steal
- This immediately gives you 3 items, filling the F2-4 slots.
- Press again to drop all items and reduce cooldown by a few seconds. Sometimes you just need access to the Steal command again, for its stun break or other properties.
- F2-4: Use item
- The items stolen would still be semi-random based on enemy type, except that you get a handful, (literally), to choose from. When you use one of them, the others are immediately tossed aside.
This change would have a relatively small impact on balance. The goal is to give players some choice and control, making Steal more tactical, practical, and desirable.
F2 10 second Chill. Good thing attunement recharge is also affected by chill, yay balance.
F3 Projectile reflect with massive pbaoe damage. It’s better than a Warrior’s own axe 5.
F4 Heal/Cleanse water field.
F5 Longest fear in the game, also pbaoe.
F6 Longest single target daze in the game.
F7 On demand stealth+blind.
F8 All boons.
F9 Instant kill Warrior
F10 Perma-stealth
I though if you hit you also get a bag. Try attacking maybe instead of focusing on buff?
Hammer train against a stealthed thief is useless because you get to choose where to go to AVOID the stun. If you eat it like a warrior, better switch to Guardian or Warrior and play as tank.
There are more replies in complaining/whining posts than this kind of post that can actually help Guardians. This is so classic of why Guardians are having a hard time enjoying the game.
Tip: Tell your fellow Guardians to stop whining and start thinking on how to play better.
If you think Warrior is better than Guardian for WvW or that it will be after this update you must be bad at playing Guardian.
For anything else than 1v1 Guardian will still outclass Warrior, same as now.
You must be very pro playing as guardian. I would like to see your build of some of your video.

Warriors are build and gear dependent. That is why it is not surprising that we have multiple armor and weapon sets.
Many other classes uses passive skills. Clone, wells, marks, etc. Warrior is not a skill dependent profession. Warrior skills are sub-par compared to the other classes. Warrior have CC yes but have long CD. Warrior skills also have animation that telegraphs what kind of skill is being used. DODGE and that skill will be on CD. A warrior on CD almost equates to a dead warrior.

“warrior CC is OP there is no way to counter it” good thing noobs are still there as free bag…
Before the brilliant forum mod mindlessly deleted my posts, I made each one for all professions. All were equally helpful except for the Ranger forum. Warriors have weaknesses which are uniquely exploitable for every class. Whiners are just too lazy to post and to prideful to ask.
Since we are in the topic of Warriors with Staff, let us have new skins for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. COWABANGA DUDE AND DUDETTE!
I think they are still thinking how to change the signet, in the meantime they nerfed it, though it will not stop people from whining.
its not just the passive that is the problem. Its warriors as a whole.
oh warriors are perfect where they are, just like anet claims it is. Its the rest of the classes that needs to catch up.
This is the dumbest excuse that I keep hearing over and over. Now you may or may not be being sarcastic, but I see people claiming this all the time. And to them I say, what makes more sense: nerfing one class or buffing seven? I’ll give you a hint: it’s the one that doesn’t cause massive power creep and myriad unpredictable side effects.
The anti-nerf bandwagon just makes no sense. I can imagine in real life when these peoples’ grass grows too long they complain that the whole neighborhood should grow their grass out to match so they don’t have to mow their lawn.
Nope. Warriors struggled when we were the bottom feeders of GW2. The correct analogy is that we worked to make our house better than most in the whole neighborhood. Instead of complaining to break the house down, why do you not try to make yours better as well?
Back to the game, the anti-nerf bandwagon aims to improve GW2 as a whole. If all ANet does is to nerf, players will leave not out of spite but out of boredom. Do you think they will recommend the game to new players? Of course not.
Help GW2 become better and suggest ANet how your class can be improved further without becoming too strong.
Please translate your build into http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/ .
Instead of wanting to weaken Warriro mobilitiy and making GW2 boring because of all the nerf whining, why don’t you ask ANet to improve other classes instead? Veteran players can play with new builds and classes, potential new players can see that the game is improving instead of degrading, and additional revenue for ANet because people are not leaving and possibly promoting GW2.
Win-win for all right?

830 stat point profit.
Not as explosive as full berzerker set. Needs more testing post patch.
You will need full berserker gear after patch, before you could till do viable damage with just the trinkets(you lose 10% if full zerg other tanky builds is like -40-60% dps)
You have no idea what you’re talking about. If you only wore berserker trinkets pre-patch you will lose less DPS than a berserker build. Meaning the gap between your set and berserker will decrease. LOL -40-60%…
Did you calculate the amount of crit damage loss of trinkets compared to armor? Builds who had zerker trinkets only will lose a greater % of thier crit damage than a full zerk build. Rings get a 45% nerf to crit damage, earrings get a 43% nerf, amulet gets a 38% nerf to crit damage and the back piece gets a 54% nerf to crit damage. If you average it out it is roughly 45% (give or take a couple % since I didn’t calculate the ratio for each trinket individually).
Helm actually gets a 13% increase in crit damage, coat loses 4%, there rest gets a 17% nerf. If you average it out you lose roughly 12.5% from you armor. (Same as above, I didn’t calculate to ratio of each piece individually.)
I think i missed this one. Source please.
Yeah. For now. With the condi loving patch coming, necro may no longer need to run away.
Nice introduction. Eloquently saying that “Warrior mobility is OP” qq
If you really think that way then why not post it in the Profession Balance forum? Ranting at players who cannot change the programming of the game. Or what you really want is for Warriors to stop using mobility skills because people are tired of crying?
Adding up the numbers including ferocity, celestial adds up an extra 1000.
Am too lazy right now to get the actual numbers or source but its in the dulfy website. Berzerker is 900ish power 650ish ferocity and precision totaling to 2200ish.
Celestial have 400ish spread out to 8 traits like power healinh ferocity etc etc etc totaling to 3200ish.
If we can build an all in one warrior build to benefit from all stats, it may become something…or nothing.
No This does not prove that ANet have favoritism. I was sarcastic. This is because the forum mods do not read the content of the posts being deleted. They claim to be human but function like machines nevertheless. Could save them money by replacing them with software instead.
People are leaving because professions are being nerfed alot instead of being improved. Imagine playing MtG CCG and all WotC will be doing is to ban cards and reduce the card effects. It will be boring and eventually transfer to the new game.
Warrior is actually a noob class. If you want a person to try GW2, common recommendation is to try a tank class like warrior.
Bad players are players who play bad. This post started with a statement that warriors have exploitable weaknesses. Whiners are those who insist that “Warriors are OP” and at the same time does not ask how other players of the same profession can beat Warriors.
(edited by ShakeyStorm.7180)
I have been tempted to use Celestial for the fact that the numbers seems to give more than the other sets. Main problem is that it is spread throughout. Not a burst build. Not a condition build. Not a support build. Since you plan for ascended, do you have a non ascended celestial set? If so how did it work for you?
Sigh. You are probably right. HULK SMASH!
Hey, we could have just ignored your post you know. We cared enough to say tell you its weaknesses. Part of the thrill is thinking on how to improve it better.
Ask and we will answer.
In what universe was I “talking about how [I] made 8 threads”?
Dude did you even read the contents of the link? It was made for those who cannot play well and cry Warrior is OP and rubbish like that. People were and in the case of the Mesmer community, are still sharing their experiences with other players. It helped the community united in a common cause.
Bad players have been complaining how Warriors are. I posted this in the mesmer forum and look how it bloomed beautifully: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/Is-there-a-way-to-beat-Warrior/first#post3818730
It taught them to think and to talk amogs themselves teaching the noobs hiw to play better instead of whining.
I did the same for all other profession forums and for a while it grew until forum mod removed all of them except for one. They say the content is the same and t was considered cross posting. The question was the same but the content and the benefit to be gained by all players and perhaps A-Net.
With the mod’s love for Warrior, all posts were deleted hiding all our exploitable weaknesses from the world. We are unstoppable because we have the favor of the mods.
You already have your javelins… well spear to be exact. Just go underwater.
Since damage will be smaller, Zerker builds will take longer time to kill those condi bunker or condi spam builds. A few seconds could be all they need to down us.
With the new trait for dual wield maybe, just maybe, axe main can counter the loss by hitting more.
(edited by ShakeyStorm.7180)
Thanks Jzaku but am not doing this to disprove the ranger guy. Am doing this for everyone. I do no use the Power trait and would like to see if there are others who use them successfully. Sigil of Intelligence on the axe is going to be pretty much standard.
As long as the warrior cannot hit the thief then the thief is fine. With the coming patch where they get 50% off damage when stealth (Resilience of Shadows), permastealth will surely be more persistent in bullying.
Good to know that there are a lot of bad thieves. The really goods ones are so hard to hit.
it’s not as much a nerf warriros need but a redesign.
i had a good fight with a hammer warrior yesterday. he dodged well, chained skills etc. he was quite good and, as i’m a fossil who still runs d/d thief, i had a hard time to land my cloak and dagger to gain stealth.and here it starts.
scorpion wire to create an opening for CnD doesn’t work (stability), neither does basilisk’s venom (endure pain). beside the fact that i had to eat a lot of damage and burn an immense amount of initiative on gap closers just to keep close, i managed to land CnD from time to time and even land a couple of backstabs…which did around 7k damage and were outhealed quite fast since insane disengage ability (and no i didn’t use dancing dagger). it went on for quite a while and i got defeated, i simply could not do enough damage without avoiding it myself (the hammer stun chain did around 12k total to me when it hit me). there was nothing i could do because that guy put just a modicum of effort into dodging and reading my skill animationsand that is what bugs me about the warrior: it is incredibly forgiving. do one mistake on your play as a thief and you are done. do mistake after mistake (get hit by CC, eat a backstab, get conditions) and don’t even care. the warrior evens out a large lack of skill. i recently started to use my warrior for wvw and it is unbelievable easy to make it rain lootbags (and i have used him only for pve for almost a year now).
i wish anet would finally remove the safety leash and the autoplilot from that class. i know it is the first adress for new players but it is simply too easy to play.
You find warrior disengage insane? Maybe that is your problem. When you get hit hard, disengage. Thieves can disengage/re-engage at their whim. Knowing when to fight and when not to fight is part of strategic gameplay.
Warriors are more forgiving with mistakes because it is a beginner’s class. When you get more skilled, you can start going on less toughness more power OR change to a skill dependent class.
New players will find thieves very weak because it will die all the time if not played right.
Veteran players handling thief is immortal and can pawn anyone anywhere anytime may it be 1vs1 or 1vs5. If you do not believe go ask Yishi.
Why wouldn’t you want Signet of Rage?
Warbanner give all your party signet of rage buff so I guess he not soloing
I can see now a party of rifle warriors under banners. It’s going to be a freaking firing squad.
