We only have one class in PvE atm it’s called DPS. the DPS class may wear different looking armor but it’s still the only class we have
Nicely worded response Mkkoll. There are some other issues with the system that should also perhaps be highlighted.
Even before the patch we saw servers and zones being camped for hours just to secure a spot in a likely to succeed zone. With so few spawn spots competition becomes so much greater, thus increasing the wait around doing nothing times even more. Is this a desired and designed effect of the changes?
A disconnect or crash previously meant an annoying but workable 2hr wait for the next one. Now a DC/crash means a catastrophic 8 hour wait. Is this a desired and designed effect of the changes?
I realise the aim was and is for guilds with the unlock to ‘step up’ and trigger the bosses outside of the spawn times, and the gaps were there to allow them to do so however, the following should be considered:
1. Guilds who sponsor an event are going to want to make sure their members who earned the merits and the like get into a zone first.
2. Guilds like TTS and the above are going to want to make sure their members get in also, as having them there increases the chance of success
3. Anyone else is going to need to wait for the few remaining slots
4. This then run contrary to the ‘everyone welcome’ and open communities these guilds are trying to offer. Effectively it requires them to be a lot more selective about who can and cant come…
By far the best solution to this would be to:
1. Remove the merit and reduce the influence cost of the consumable
2. Allow any guild to build the kick a boss off upgrade.
3. Make both the consumable and upgrade influence only.
So, what about guilds like TTS etc who have very little influence generation? There is already a mechanic in place to cater for this and it’s to buy the influence with money.
As mentioned above, the influence cost could then be refunded as a reward for successful completion of the event. As it is my guild can afford and is prepared to sponsor 1 maybe 2 boss events a week but that’s not enough to cater for the needs and expectations of the community.
Basically, the mechanics are too burdensome for guilds to be able to sponsor world events on a regular basis, which in turn will lead to a degradation of the community and less likelihood of new boss content being accepted and played. Basically wasted development time.
I also realise there is a wait and see element to this, but when large communities of players are saying ‘this needs adjusting’ then perhaps it’s time to relook before the damage is done.

How about giving each instance of the megaserver a number so we can switch to it at will, perhaps even create special instances for each language and initially direct people there based on their in game language of choice..
Somehow this idea seems vaguely familiar I’m sure it was in another game a while back
While I understand the reasoning behind having so long(it gives guilds chance to fill in the gaps) I do feel the gap is too long.
Lets say you DC or crash during teq at 12:30 GMT, instead of needing to wait 2h to try again you now need to wait kitten that point you’ll just give up and do something else, blaming anet and building up resentment. The 2h spawn timer was fine. it still gives guilds 12 chances a day to spawn an event.
Given that the cost 20merits and 10K influence of the event consumable, guilds are unlikely to use it more than once a week.
Time to rethink I think
Broken Mesmer is broken
undyable town clothes tonics with time limits.
Not this week as it’s a holiday, but we’ll be back next week
We had this happen to us last night. I reported it as an exploitable bug as I’m sure it wasn’t intended to work like that.
Being able to see the guild chat of all the guilds you belong to would be a huge step forward. Atm multi guilding is pretty much pointless as all you effectively do is leave one guild and join another
IMHO do the achievements you find fun and worth your time. The points will then take care of themselves.
We are still open for guests from any server to come and join us for our guild missions. Every Sunday at 15:30 UTC.
Don’t worry if you don’t know what to do, full explanations are given and we try our hardest to make sure every participant get’s the rewards.
We still plan to run these when the megaserver stuff happens so watch this space for any changes to instructions or timing
So now we will be forced to join that tts guild to make a world event hmm pass
No. It’s likely that these specialist raid guilds will need to get the merits/influence to build the upgrades before they can start an on demand event.
As mentioned above, if you join in a guild kicked off event(like teq) you’ll get the rewards also. So there’s no need to join the donor guild. Just be along to help
Small guilds will be ok. They just need a ‘donor’ guild to start the event off. I suspect the norm will be smaller guilds allying together with a larger guild in place to kick the event off.
re: Guild merits and influence cross servers.. They had better not reset them all to zero to allow easy merging… <Hides>
If guilds can trigger world events, do non guild members get the same rewards or are rewards for non guildies limited to karma, XP and a silver like existing guild missions?
Personally, I don’t care what that slice of computer hardware is called I happen to play on. So long as I can do it with my friends and meet interesting people along the way. The megaserver allows me to do this more than before and it partially restores what we had before in GW1
In one fell swoop Anet have got rid of one of my largest issues with the game…
Thank you and give the guys who did this a payrise…
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/
It will also negate the need for server merges due to low population and help the overflow issues in a single stroke. It’s pretty much how things should have been designed from the start but better late than never
So kittening happy at this. I hated the server system and felt it was a step backwards in tech terms from GW1. There’s still the EU/US divide to breach but this is a quantum leap from where we were.

I wonder what will happen to the -15% off armor repairs buff you get from guild mission merits?
Like me, I’m sure every leader of a large guild leap for joy on seeing last login. However I wonder if it’s retroactive. I.e we can start clearing up on April 16th or do we start our clocks from April 15th?
Hmm wonder if it will be possible to transmute light armor looks onto a heavy armor character. Don’t think it mentions any restrictions to the system other than it costing charges.
AFIK people can get commendations now for guesting. We have a number of people who come over for my guilds ‘open to all’ guild mission events.
Whether they are RNG or not hasn’t been confirmed yet
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
We’re back this week at 20:00 GMT/UTC
Do we know if the trait books are going be RNG drops or a guaranteed drop from dungeons events and the like.
If it’s RNG based, and you can just go buy the books for gold. Being a devils advocate for the moment, is this not ‘pay to win’ as one can simply buy gold and get the trait?
It’ll be nice to be more like a proper Mesmer again, alas I bet it won’t work on bosses with the defiant buff>all.
Anyone know what they say to new accounts or to people who missed the events entirely?
just wondering if it’s related to which WP you went in. I came in via Gendarran Fields WP

I got the same here, character is over level 30 also
It’s a good idea, except for a lot of the events need a lot of people to complete. So they’d have to be scaled down. If Anet liken the LS to a TV show, perhaps it’s time for GW2 Tivo’s
Got a few people who cant make it tonight, so we’ll postpone until next week
We run a full suite of guild missions on sundays at 15:30 GMT. Don’t worry if you don’t know what to do as we’ll give full explanations on the day. All we ask is you don’t touch the shiny flags and start anything off

Just a heads up, this week we’re meeting up at 20:00 GMT – One hour earlier than usual
I have to say, I’ve seen better guild features in a single player game
Anet’s developers need to find something for jewelers to make in the first place before they can move forward with taking it to 500.

wasn’t it running due to all the crying and hiccupping?
If the menders things is indeed true, the event needs to give a smidgeon of a hint regarding needing to kill them.
Maybe having mobs called menders that spawn close by would help :p
You need to kill the menders as soon as they spawn(if it was the blue knight that healed up)
Happened twice on Gandara..
Feels like the tv station shut down just when the season finale of your fave TV show is on
Bugged again on Gandara…..

Hmm as a wishlist
O Guild management features(e.g last login, able to see the chat of all guilds you belong to at the same time, guild halls)
O Precursor crafting
O Fixing the Overflow system
O Build templates
O Able to dynamically change stats on ascended gear
O Profession/bug fixes.

They should have done away with the whole logical server thing for PvE a long time ago. Split your WvW server of choice (keeping ofc all the restrictions in place we have now) from the PvE environment you play on and move back to the district system. Then subdivide by language to keep spam down and it’s job done. :
O There’s no main server to try to get into, so all districts will try equally hard
O You can tell your friends and guildies which district to go to without all that tedious taxi’ing.
O And you don’t need to worry about under populated servers as open world zones will just fill up dynamically.
I really can’t see how you’d need a lot more hardware/bandwidth as you do now, as they load balance already and the overall load would be about the same.
All this does is make it a darn sight better for the players.
We usually have enough for a dungeon team or so. If we get odd numbers we try to do 2 runs or find something that needs more than 5 people
DE 2.0-Kas/Mar working for scarlet?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Shanaeri Rynale.6897
(Personally I disagree with your theories. I think killing one of them is too cliché, I don’t think there is anyone working as a double-agent and the closest that one could be to a “double-agent” would be Taimi because of her open admiration for Scarlet’s genius.. but hey even then I think it’s too far-fetched)
I’m not sure cliché or ’far fetched have ever stopped them before
Anyone kinda wish Anet had not given anyone a preview of what’s to come?
It would have been great to experience it first hand, not knowing anything about what happens to LA.
Atm I feel like I’ve been told all about the red wedding before reading or seeing it on TV
I’m really hoping there are some big surprises in a few hours time.

I don’t think it will blow up. We’ll just see Scarlett there tossing in items looking for the RNG recipe that actually makes it blow up.

They should have done away with a logical server architecture altogether for PvE, and people choose a ‘team’ (aka what we call server names now) for WvW when they first create an account.
Then you can load balance WvW and PvE separately making empty servers for PvE a non issue, keeping the integrity of WvW and getting rid of this whole overflow mess in the first place.
Far to late to change it now, so we’re stuck with this sub-optimal, community breaking and inefficient mess
tbh I feel this CDI is a little premature.
We can’t really vote on professions to revist without those professions performing ‘as advertised’
Bugs(cough . Iwarden), traits not working as they should and game mechanics(pet AI) all cloud and distort our view of the professions. For example, I wonder how many of the ranger votes are down to poor pet AI?, How many of the Mesmer votes are down to many skills (cough Iwarden) just not working?
It’s kinda like saying which car needs to be made to go faster when in each case the car only has three wheels..
Fix the bugs. then such a CDI will be more meaningful IMHO as we’ll have a solid, glitch/bug free foundation to base our views on..

Neither in GW1 or in GW2 have you ever been able to create your own district/overflow, and definitely not locking it specifically for your guild. And it is unlikely that this will ever happen.
Yup, in GW1 you could. You’d simply choose a region that was sparsely populated and go there. E.g go to Italian Dist 1 for ToA. It would create your very own district just for you and whoever you wanted to bring along
Or you could cram in alliance members until a new district was made and then go there. Did that loads of times for Canthan new years.
