Good luck in whatever you do Colin
Hi
For over 2 years we have been hosting guild missions for anyone who wishes to come.
These take place every Sunday at around 15:30 GMT/UTC
We try our best to ensure everyone who attends get’s their merits and rewards, and don’t worry if you don’t know how to do the mission we’ll explain in full. Also don’t worry about representing when outside of the GM times. you can rep as much or as little as you like.
The only things we ask is that you’re not crude or crass in guild chat and that you don’t kick the missions off, or interact with anything until we are ready (don’t touch the shiny)
PM the below in game if you want to come along.
Shanaeri Rynale
Crumpy.9725
Angelmouse.7345
We’re on Gandara, but other EU server denizens are welcome.
See you there
Has anyone’s XP been corrected after the fix went in? We did 2 updates on patch day and I’m not sure we got credited the correct amount…
same here. approved 2 upgrades with no jump in XP….
No wintersday bonus for Anet testing processes again :/
Not forgetting Guild puzzles still don’t give out rewards to everyone who completes them..
Also, Why in Lyssa’s name do we need to interact with the flag twice in puzzles and challenges. Surely a single click here to join in instance would do..
Omnishambles.. really..
Todays omnishambles guild mission bugs were..
Guild challenge broken.
Guild puzzle rewards not being given to everyone who completed the puzzle
The trek was an improvement, but we need a permissions setting to prevent people interacting while everyone is getting into the circle
If you’ve got someone trustworthy invite them into your guild but don’t give them guild storage permissions. If you then leave by accident, they get auto promoted and can invite you back. You can also do the same for them in return as a double failsafe
Nice to see some fixes in the patch notes
•Players will now earn personal rewards on guild rushes as soon as they cross the finish line.
•Players will now earn personal rewards on guild treks as soon as they interact with the trek icons.
Hope the Puzzle RNG reward bugs ones are addressed soon
Another Omnishambles this week..
Guildies who completed the puzzle didn’t get the rewards, guildies in fractals did.
There were other guilds fighting, waiting and arguing over who to kick off the rush as rewards for that are bugged.
The timer on the guild mission panel for the wolf rush told us we had 15 mins, yet when we kicked it off it told us we had 30 mins.. The whole guild then had to stand around for 20 mins waiting to see if they won the rewards lottery..
The way you kick off the challenge and puzzle is also wildly counter-intuitive, we lost guildies who got fed up or lost in the instancing..
Basically, we used to be able to complete 5 guild missions in 90 mins max. now it’s taking us an hour longer because of bugs and poor design…
Total Cluster Omnishambles..
Another week of the random rewards show. 2 Rushes and a puzzle..
The issue really is very simple.
1. Guilds spent weeks and months getting upgrades, buffs and guild missions
2. Come HoT all this was wiped out and replaced it with large cost in materials and cost, estimated to be around 20,000 gold
They didn’t add cool stuff that could be ADDED onto what guilds already had, they wiped it, dressed it up in new buildings and called it extra content.
Additionally. the guild XP is such that you need to pretty much upgrade everything to progress further up, thus making the actual cost higher because you need to spend resources on stuff you don’t want just to get the stuff you do.
or if you like analogies
You spend 3 years buying furniture, white goods etc for your apartment. One day you find the government has come in, confiscated the lot and left you with an empty apartment. Further more there’s a note on the floor telling you, you’ll now have to work for 5 more years to get your stuff back..
That’s why guilds(not just small ones) are miffed at the changes
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
Too numerous to mention here. Guild Mission Bugs.. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Guild-missions-do-not-function-appropriately/first#post5736749
Same here.
Reporting the following issues(as above).
1. mini map not showing in Proxymetrics and deep trouble.
2. Rewards given at random in guild puzzles. Some get them, some not with no disenable reason why(e.g people who put an orb in sometimes didn’t, while someone else who just ran along did)
3. Kicking off a puzzle or challenge is very very clunky and confusing. Click on the flag to try to get everyone in, click it again to get everyone into the mission instance, then click on an NPC to start it. Why not just click on the flag once and then talk to an NPC.
4. Timers completing early, e.g another guilds time runs out on their rush, so does ours even if it has 6 mins left.
5. Do you want to accept credit prompts repeatedly appearing at the end of the puzzle(does nothing though)
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
Not sure the right people will get to read this thread otherwise, and surely the missions cant be working as intended.. Please mention issues on this bug thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Guild-missions-do-not-function-appropriately/first#post5736749

It’s not the resources needed to upgrade that’s the issue, it’s that many small guilds had unlocked everything and now face a lot of effort, grind and time just to get back to where they were 4 weeks ago.
Anet should have added stuff on for people to build in the GH, not taken stuff away and put most of it behind a time gated grind wall
The best of resolving this was suggested over 3 years ago, and it’s a simple fix than the above.
Simply de-couple the server you WvW for from the server you PvE on. You can then use the existing character transfer mechanic to move your character to any server you wish. Charge gems to move your WvW server to maintain WvW integrity and give a pop up message saying your may get lag is you move cross region.
Job done.
So your asking anet to do jobb for free when moving chars from na data center to eu data center?
Noone will do stuff for free mate.
You dont have to change pve server on the same data center ever.
Character transfer is automatic, no manual intervention is required. I guess you might quote bandwidth use, but tbh the amount of data is small per character and the sizing of their network would be offset by the reduction of concurrent users since launch.

Guild missions are bad for guilds of all sizes. Small guilds who teamed with other guilds to jointly do content are stuffed because they cant do so anymore, and larger guilds are stuffed because its so flipping random/hard to get rewards for all those taking part.
I totally agree. The new system, is just plain broken and needs an urgent review and fixes, especially as these are now directly tied to the guild progression system.
I’ll just add some more issues to the OP’s list
1. you cannot see the mini map in challenges and puzzles, making Deep trouble and Proxymetrics more difficult(cant see map and maze)
2. If you die in puzzles and challenges you cannot WP back, and need to be ressed
3. You cannot portal disconnected or crashed players back into a guild puzzle.
4. Starting Puzzles and challenges is way more complex than needed. For example needing to click on the start GM flag twice(one to get into the same map, and a second time to actually join in)
5. You Cannot choose the types of mission you get, we used to be able to choose what type we did and when now it’s only when.
6. Guild Treks are a waste of time. It’s a see who can read dulfy the quickest test.
I love the fact Anet tried to overhaul GM’s but sorry guys it just doesn’t work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgz2iuUwVt4
TLDR Setting up is way more hassle than it used to be, getting credit a matter of luck, you cant help out smaller guilds in puzzles and challenges anymore and finding ways to fix the system is more of a challenge than the GM themselves, which quite simply cannot be right.

Hearts and Minds (spoilers) - advice?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

THEY NEED TO FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY. Ugh. The glider portion is absolutely the buggiest part of any boss fight I’ve ever had in Guild Wars 2, in which the cost of “failure” is immediate, unavoidable death and a 10 minute or more restart of the fight, and its 100% due to the glider not deploying after the updraft boosts you.
I can’t see how QA didn’t catch any bugs with the glider portion, its horrendous. I’m done with this. I’ve failed over 15 times now.
I agree. No idea what this is game is now, but it’s not Guild Wars. When a fight comes down to the one shot being purely RNG there is something very badly wrong…
Must be a bug. Can’t think anyone would be as dopey as to plan it this way.
I was wondering the same.
Previously you only got commendations for each type of mission you did. Now we get 2 challenges in a week so does this mean we only get one set of commendations for both challenges.
I cant say i’m happy with the new guild mission system. It feels like our progress has been reset (we had everything unlocked) and we’re now back to square one for no tangible gain.
As above. We’ve currently unlocked every guild mission type. Post HoT will we need to go through another rigmarole/grind etc to unlock them all over again?
I was thinking it’ll be something like this:
Bounty – Get X,Y and Z
Rush – Spiders
Challenge – Supplies
Puzzle – Langmar
So whenever you choose to spawn say a puzzle for that week you’ll get Langmar. which will clash with every other guild who is doing a puzzle at the same time as you are(+-30 mins). Otherwise you are limiting a guild to one mission a week…
I really hope you will be able to convert merits and influence to favour. There’s nothing to spend them on atm
I’m trying to get my head around the changes to the guild influence, merits and missions system. As on the face of it, it looks like well established guilds well lots of merits and influence are well going to be just as well off as brand new ones, that have not worked and saved up their merits etc.
I.e they will all start from Zero Favour.
So, will there be a way to convert merits/influence into favour, because otherwise it looks like they’ll be getting the shaft
I’m also not sure about everyone getting the same guild missions each week. While it may seem a grand idea to get guilds cooperating the reality is, having to share a mission with another guild is a PITA. They either don’t wait for us to get our guild there, rush on ahead trapping their guild members and ours into a room or well just grief the event.
Added to this the complete pest of trying to get my guild into the same instance so we can you know.. actually coordinate and make sure everyone gets the reward I can see this whole ‘everyone gets the same mission’ thing being a total train wreck, especially on weekends when it’s really popular..
I was really looking forward to guild halls, and the guild mission revamp but unless I missed some info this just seems like a huge backward step
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
Explosives and the like wont do very much against plants, all they will do is spread vegetable matter around the place including no doubt seeds for more mordrem
In any case, there’s no need for modern military to do it, there already exists within lore the means to do it. A full charged Searing cauldron or the ancient weapon in the crystal desert should do it.
I wonder if they will up the drop rate if not enough beta portals drop for them to perform meaningful stress/content tests..
I’m sure they have lots of other things to be getting on with than celebrate 10 years of the Guild Wars Franchise. Be happy we’ve got a contest
At this point in time, I doubt it will ever be resolved. For sure it wont happen again, but playing devils advocate why would they spend developer time and effort on something that affects only a small (and dwindling) number of players?
I don’t know if it will be resolved (it should be), but are you implying that there aren’t many GW1 players playing GW2? Because i have seen quite a lot actually.
Also, Arenanet tends to fix things on some arbitrary basis, sometimes it’s enough if only one person says something and they do it, other times even a big uproar remains unheeded.
I’m not saying anything, the devil’s advocate is I’m sure there are many thousands of GW1 players who play GW2. Just that a smaller number of them have GWAMM and are affected by this.

I’m not usually one to crow about status and titles, but this bug does make me pretty miffed. GWAMM and HoM rewards were supposed to be a never gotten again thank you for those loyal customers and players who played GW1 and made Anet the success it is today.
For sure, I had amazing times in GW1, and I never got my 50/50 or GWAMM’s just for the kitten But.. it still feels like a slap in the face.
I’m not sure how this can be fixed, other than running a check against GW1 account titles and GW2 accounts and then correcting the errors.
Tbh I don’t think it ever will be rolled back, as GW1 vets seems to be the past Anet would rather forget which after all the support (and money) we gave them is a huge, huge shame.
The issue with no expansion isn’t really the facts, but the perception. Perception is usually even more powerful than facts and in the MMO world the perception is you need an expansion to give gamers more content and boost the population/activity levels.
While I applaud Anet for trying, it’s clear the expansion mindset is so entrenched into the gamers pschye I’m not sure the living story has gone any way (in general) to displace it.
This being the case more LS will only act to continue the “It’s an old game with no meaningful new content” impression, which in turn will lead to a further decline in numbers and therefore revenue.
Since the perception seems to be “only an expansion will do” The hype and buzz surrounding an expansion will bring back more players than just relying on the LS alone.
Looking at the guilds I know of, the pattern seems to be Go play other stuff. logon for LS, do LS for a couple of days, log off and do other stuff again
While this may give a temporary ‘blip’ in activity it doesn’t really provide any long term growth usually associated with an expansion.
TLDR: People expect an expansion to give more content, and don’t seem to be convinced that the LS alone can deliver it
Due to time changes, guild missions are at 15:30 UTC/GMT
PS just realised, we’ve been doing this a year now. Doesn’t time fly
Hi,
Been trying to get into sparkfly(both mapping in and going in via the portal) and I’m getting a network error code 5.
All other areas such as LA etc are fine, as is everything else on my system
Guess Teq has won for the moment..
Its nearly the end of September and we are still hosting public guild missions on a Sunday and wurm/teq kills on a Thursday. Times as above
I love the idea of guild taxes, last represented fields, amounts of influence donated etc simply because it gives me a list of guilds not to recommended to people
Let’s wait until it’s announced (I doubt it ever will) before leaping into headless sky is falling chicken mode.
Proposal Overview
Make influence donatable, rather than earned automaticallyGoal of Proposal
To make influence something a player can donate to their chosen guild, rather than it automatically be earned by whatever guild they are representing.
Proposal Functionality
Players earn influence in the normal way, but guilds get the bonus influence as they do now(logging on etc)This would allow smaller guilds to have an influence boost, and give players more flexibility in how their play benefits the guild they are in.
When a player wants to donate, they go to an NPC and donates a certain amount to the guild they are currently representing. To donate to a different guild, just rep and donate.Associated Risks
Possible increase in the ‘you must donate x amount per day’ lot, but just let them get on with itI think you can donate influence through Guild Promoters. Go to the guild promoters and you can buy Letters of Thanks.
Yes you can, this is as well as being able to pay in game cash to do it(which when I’ve done it before to make my own guild bank guild is quite expensive).

Proposal Overview
To allow event related guilds to gain influence
Goal of Proposal
Currently, guilds such as those who are world boss or RP centric have a high proportion of non-repping players as most of them will rep only for an event and then go back. Therefore the rate of influence these guilds gain is very limited which hinders the creation of upgrades they would find essential (such as being able to spawn a world boss).
Proposal Functionality
Allow all guilds you belong to gain influence(at a reduced rate ofc) so as to allow specialist guilds the ability to obtain upgrades that would normally be punitive to obtain
Associated Risks
There’s a risk of complaints for guilds who had to get their influence the ‘old way’ and perhaps a slight gold sink reduction as people would not need to pay for influence so often
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
Someone mentioned it above, but it’s worth mentioning again
Proposal Overview
Increase functionality of multi-guilding
Goal of Proposal
To improve communications with the player across all the guilds they belong to. Currently, multi-guilding has the same effect of leaving one guild and joining another. Players cannot see the guild chat of their other guilds, so have no idea if their friends or guildies in another guild are doing something they might like to do, or indeed having a conversation they might enjoy.
This leads to a feeling of disconnection between the player and guilds other than the one they are representing and makes the multi-guild facility of limited value
Proposal Functionality
Expand the chat tabs to either have a separate tab per guild they belong to, or use a different color per guild and use a command such as /g1, /g2 etc etc to use them.
Associated Risks
The only risks I can see is that of additional load on the chat server with the extra tabs, and perhaps expanding the chat window into ‘sacred’ areas of the UI
For the not being worked on, AFIK there’s been nothing mentioned about it since the link above so it’s reasonable to assume that’s still the case.
As for why, there’s no source for it, it’s personal opinion, but seems to logically fit(not saying I agree with it, but there you go )
As far as we know they are still not being worked on. After so much effort has been spent to get people together in the open world, I’m not sure if Anet would ever implement something that encourages them to hide away somewhere private.
It’s not really communication that maybe needs tweaking but really the developers need to take a step back and stop thinking like developers but think like players.
Thinking like players would stop so much of the hassle we see on the boards. I mean why would anyone think that charging 300g per commander color would be good? or thinking the reasons why people want first person would be to fight stuff? Or the commander suppression system which seems to double the suppression duration every time the ‘you are supressed’ message comes up.. or a multi guild system that doesn’t allow you to see the chat of all the guilds you are in, or stuff the game knows about(like what dungeon paths you’ve done or what IP you’re in) but doesn’t deem it fit to tell you… and so the list goes on.
The grown ups among us realise that telling us stuff before it’s ready is a bad move, but we’re also grown up enough to look at some of the design decisions that have been made and go ‘huh’?
Maybe that’s a CDI topic. Design decisions that make you go ‘Huh? what?’
Just taking a step back and looking at stuff from a player point of view would save so much grief and money in terms of rework.
If you want a TLDR on how to communicate in future it’s
“Treat us like logical, but passionate about your game rational adults who because of that will question and find holes in stuff because we care.”
It really isn’t rocket science.
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
It’s all part of the hype train. Confuse everyone so we talk about it, thus generating more hype
you should’nt need a commander tag at all with a proper party/grouping system imho
Anyone should be able to form a squad, and people who then join that squad should then be able to see anyone else in that squad. The Squad former then gets a special colored dot to indicate where they are which can only be seen by fellow squad members.
Never saw the reason why people should pay to form teams of more than 5 people, esp when the squad functionality is so… useless.
I mean, what’s the point of having a squad if you cant even see where they are…

Every Thursday, my guild (DVDF) is spawning wurm and then teq for those in the EU who want to come. It’s to provide people who would otherwise miss or otherwise aren’t able to do this content a chance to do so.
The kind folks at GW2community http://gw2community.com/ will command the wurm attempt as they have a very high daily success rate.
Please get on GW2community’s team speak ts.gw2community.com at 18:30 UK time, Tri-Wurm (Team 3) channel, so you know which map, how to get in, and to get organised.
We will aim to spawn Wurm at 19:00 UK time, 20:00 CEST
We’ll then spawn Teq right afterwards so if you come to this event, you wont miss out if you miss the teq spawn.
Since GW2community have a tight schedule I’m told they’ll need to cancel the wurm spawn if it’s not spawned by 19:30 UK time so the more and faster you come, the better
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
There’s a few simple things that can be done to help us, and nothing the game doesn’t actually know.
Some examples:
O Number the map instances in a UI display (e.g LA 1,2,3 etc) and allow us to select an instance.
The game knows how many copies of the map there is. So why not number them and show us? We can already taxi in on a player, so why not use the same mechanic in this map select UI.
Selectable maps would really help the RP complaints also..
O The game also knows the population of a map, it has to in order to know when to spawn more. So why not tell us?
This would really help so we know if our guild is going to fit in or if we need to find another map
O Remember the last map we were in and make that our first choice of re-entry after say 2 mins. This would avoid the disconnecting at a world boss and ending up in an empty map frustration.
As I said, nothing the game doesn’t already keep track of but would save an awful lot of frustration and annoyance.
(edited by Shanaeri Rynale.6897)
That’s mainly because the builds/tactics etc have not really changed much for PvE for over a year ((hides….))
