Don’t juzge me so early because yes, i mastered first the run as a warrior shouter/baners, and a thief as a condition damager…then i made the jump to zerk and realized the truth: Zerker is just a better way if you allready learned and understood how the game works.
Keep in mind im talking from the scope about eficiency. If you enjoy another tactic its ok to me. Hell, i even never complain about what other players want to do or about their builds…im just a nice player who wont complain about what people do to enjoy their gameplay.
PD: Sorry, english is not my mother language.
I try not to judge too quick, that is why I asked you the question I did. I realized the absurdity of the truth about the zerker. It is all in how you view that kind of skill eliminator. I find skill in adapting many different classes and their skill sets to defeating many different kinds of enemies. Personally, I find no skill increase by doing the same path over and over using the same skills over and over, and by using the same cheat/bypass moves used in dungeon paths over and over. I like Gold for sure, but if it isn’t a challenge to get it, it creates a pit in my stomach.
I won`t read all the posts and either argument about theory craft in deep becase this was talked a lot of times… I’ll just say, Im runing every day Fractal lvl 48 with my thief and my warrior since months ago, and both are absolutely full berserker oriented (traits & gear). And believe, even if i sound like an arrogant kitten, you would love to get me in your party.
All you need in the current PvE meta is damage and a proper use of dodges/evasions/support SKILLS. The survivality tools are mainly at the proper use of the basic skills and not in the gear stats. I would rather this not be true, but it is.
See you
So have you mastered that run in any other gear or set of tactics? If you are limited in your scope of play and tactics, you are someone that I would prefer not to play with, because when a wrench is thrown into your style of play, you will have no clue what to do. Just sayin.
I think that Zerkers have succumbed to the all or nothing approach because they cant be bothered to play the game, they are in it for the Gold to get the most valuable stuff NOW. It is not skill to pile up damage so fast that an enemy has no chance. That is not what the game is about.
You’re telling me that all this time I haven’t been playing the game? If you don’t call speed running playing, then what do you call TP flipping?
I have played a few dungeons with the zerker build, and stopped because there was no fun at all, although it was nice to get the payday so fast without any thought at all. I have flipped a few items and been successful on the TP, but again, it took time away from playing the game, and it really is not a banking game, I play Monopoly for that. I have leveled 8 80’s, and all with different motives and thought. Yes I am more of a Roleplaying type, but not hardcore.
In GW1 I ran Slavers many many times and received 28 Voltaic Spears, but by that time I had done everything else, and I could do it while commiserating with friends made in game. There is so much more to do in GW2 even after a year of playing that, for me, it will be years before I get to the point of relying on one path to talk to friends. Right now there are a billion paths to keep me busy and satiated until then.
Edit: I forgot to mention the last dungeon I was in, I forgot to change my gear, and I took the Champ down wile the berserkers laid on the ground telling me how bad I was for not running zerker. I actually was able to respond by telling them what I said above, maybe they were throttling me by sacrificing survivability for extra damage. It took me a long time, but I finished the champ by myself just to shut them up, and can you believe it, they stayed till the end, and just logged off, not even a “good job” from any of them.
(edited by Sligh.2789)
The problem I have with zerker gear, is that everyone keeps preaching it, Yet I do not wear it, and notice the amount of damage the group loses from “me do um big leet damage” being downed. Then we lose more damage as I have to stop and get them up.
Have you considered that they get downed because you’re causing the fights to drag out longer than they should due to your sacrificing damage for defense?
Have you considered that they getdowned because you’re causing the fights to fail due to your sacrificing defense for damage?
If you want to pigeonhole non zerkers, you must realize that you are pigeonholing yourself.
I think that Zerkers have succumbed to the all or nothing approach because they cant be bothered to play the game, they are in it for the Gold to get the most valuable stuff NOW. It is not skill to pile up damage so fast that an enemy has no chance. That is not what the game is about.

Grow up , it’s emberrassing.
You got that right. You should listen to yourself.
Over the last few weeks I have been able to enter into the red circle that denotes the position of an enemy hostile. Upon entering, I find I am able to do an increased amount of damage, and I am able to avoid damage easily. Is a player supposed to enter the red circle?
Example is the broodmother on the north shore of Frostgorge Sound. I can get inside of her red ring by jumping and turning in midair. Once inside, I avoid all of her breath attack, and I seem to do twice as much damage to her.
Anybody ever notice this?
Had the same last night with 2 guildies. Just used a jump skill and fixed.
It is a repeatable area, you have to go back in and get the achievements. back in over and over, like a dungeon, yech.
This lag, and the constant disconnections, have been present since the first “Tower” release patch.
I go there to harvest daily. and I have disconnected 3-5 times every time I go there. I experienced minimal lag, just the constant DC’s. Last night I harvested, disconnected, and my Ori was laying on the ground next to the node.
Sometimes I do not disconnect, but all movement other than my character stops, like all are taking a break from the fight during the Champ farm, I move away when they stop moving, otherwise I disconnect and reconnect to find myself dead.
This is affecting all players in Frostgorge, not just the Claw players or the players doing the Champ farm. I helped a player do some skill points, and he disconnected 5 times while I helped him with 2 skill points.
Maybe the silver nerf to the Champ boxes were not enough and Anet has decided to just DC those that participate, who knows…..
SBI daily after reset, without fail thanks to Harlowe.
And if you talk to her, DO NOT mention the rebel insurgency in Costa Rica

So a fun question to ask to help direct the conversation a bit: What aspects of your favorite television shows would you think would be cool to see reflected in a game medium?
_______________________
I play the game, I don’t have time for TV.
So we done everyone nearly every part of this discussion has been represented in meetings in the office! In my next post i will do a brief summary of our discussion.
Chris
I have posted about the communications that your company puts forth to the community needing to be proofed by an expert in communications. Please hire a communications director to help you.
Yeah. Either Anet is heavily under utilising their writers or they just can’t put the plot they wanted into the LS structure.
The direction of the game is directly tied to the participation of the hard core gamers in these forums. The reason there is a haphazard story line is that there is no need for it to appease the hard core.
The casual gamer and the design of the game for that purpose was abandoned long ago. Now we have WvW and PvP and Dungeon focus, with very little changes in the open world content where the casual gamer resides.
90% of the Discussion threads are based on hard core gamers, that want it their way, and if you read those threads closely, it seems they are going to have it their way. There is very little discussion about open world changes that the casuals want, like improved DE’s that chain through the world and involve thought to complete, not a zerker build and button mashing.
We will see if Anet can start to appease my wants as a veteran of GW1, baited by the promises of the Manifesto that have seemed to melt with increased heat the hard core gamers applied to the developers. Really, you cant blame the developers, as those people stoke the money pot regularly, and that pays the salaries, so why not keep them happy?
they are only used in the discovery panel the first time, after that, you need to find the food they go into, and make it from the list on the other tab
Since last patch, hard to get through anything without a disconnect. Tons of players are complaining.
It would be very cool to see a dye apply a pattern, IE blue tye dye, black camo, white stripes, pillow checks, green spots, etc etc.
Not sure how the effect would get done, but the end product would add tremendous change to the world.
How is that selfish? What prevents me from spamming 111 in a blob ? Nothing I could do this all day long if I wanted to but it’s just pathetic how free all the gold is . It’s almost like I’m exploiting it .
and, …..so…., the exploits used in dungeons are less of an exploit?
Farming for money is not a good thing. Farming for a particular item is fine, ala GW1 where if you wanted a Voltaic Spear, you farmed for it, and I received more than 24 of them for my work.
In GW2 you have to farm to afford to buy simple materials, because they have nerfed areas to farm materials into the ground, and it is now easier to farm the cash to simply buy them. It takes much less time to farm the cash than it takes to farm the items.
This is where the game has ceded control to the bots, and it has completely changed the game. Any place there were bots, they nerfed the entire thing, even for the casual player. These changes melded nicely with the cash Shop to enhance the income generated for the company. Simple as that.
I wish the original incarnation for the game had been retained. That said, I still enjoy the comraderie with my guild mates, and that will keep me here, hopefully until they can find a way to restore the original vision without ceding control to the bots and the cash shop.
SBI , Claw battle, many were disconnected multiple times. No credit after getting back in the fourth time after losing connection with the server for me. Multiple reports of the same in the group.
This game is about balance. Too much armor, agro. Too much damage, agro. Too much buffing/healing, agro.
I play a balanced set and I don’t have a problem.
I know it has been nerfed, that why my post says MORE nerf. I’m forced to do this to keep up with the economy. Because people are getting gold for free. Even if I do dungeons , I don’t make more than 15g a day from it. While at champions is pretty easy to get 100g+. It does inflate the economy too much.
I average about 2.5 -3 Gold per hour if I sell all blues and greens. If you are getting 100G a day from this you are playing a different game than I am.
It is on par with dungeons at this point, so unless you want Anet to nerf that too, be careful what you wish for.
Hello all, I looked into this because we intended to have a release note for the changes to the champion loot.
We did modify the gold and bloodstone dust coming from champion bags, and a release note will be added shortly.
What I can tell you is that we made a mistake, this one fell through the cracks and I’m truly sorry. I’ve promised before that we won’t make stealthy economic changes without notes and I mean to stick to that promise.
Thank you all for pointing out the error, we will be more vigilant in the future.
Good luck in your adventures.
In the forum posts talking about collaboration I recommended a communication director to avoid this type of action leading to irate customers. I will posit my advise again to Anet, they may take it or leave it.
Hire a communications director to clearly let the player base what you are doing and why. Not providing a reason why you did it in the first place is going to push many out of the player base into other games. Simply put, you are hurting your franchise with, IMHO, unprofessional habits.
Collaboration must include totally honest communication, and it should not include responses like “there ain’t no baby up in here”. I was totally aghast when I read that forum post by a member of the Anet team, and the response in this post just reinforces my opinion of the management team at Anet.
As a former communications manager, I have some insight that may be of help to the entire Anet and Player teams taking part in these discussions.
The problem of in game actions by some members of the Anet team, and some unprofessional posts on these forums, are making it difficult for the average person to separate the personal and business interaction with Anet into separate categories.
Any interaction in game, or on the forums, should be monitored and buffered through a single person to insure consistency and accuracy across the broadest spectrum of interaction.
Yes you can post to the forums, but you need to have someone who understands the consequences of statements that may seem inconsequential to you. Now if we could get the forum members to use the same high degree of thoughtfulness to their posts it would be a grand world indeed.
I highly recommend a Communications Liaison, it will allow you to hone your message and allow you a more focused view of the message that the players are trying to relate.
This is just my opinion. Take it into consideration at your own convenience.
The one getting missed is in MOunt Maelstrom. I almost skimmed right over it, the Dulfy notes are not clear. That is where it is.
It will only work on enemies that don’t respawn. Imagine this kitten in Orr. It will have no place in the open world unless in certain instances. Also the finisher only will qualify for the kill, making it harder to earn kill credits.
At 50, I would rather be in your top end zone than any other. I started pencil and paper gaming with D&D1, and have not stopped since. This game is a direct descendent of those ancient games. It retains the social aspect, and my guild is 5 close knit, yet independent players. We have some other casuals, but it is usually just us.
We enjoy talking as we do our own thing or getting together for something challenging.
Had this on an overflow as well. Timers not correct, 5 second stun phase on Teq, Dieing when using the jump pads, water rings everywhere. Just a mess. Skill lag worse than I have ever seen.
1) Lore/Living Story/Continuity – Truly tying the lore/flow of the game to the history of the game.
2) DR/RNG – Casual player should not encounter DR, even if farming. Encounter based rewards far more rewarding than random chance.
3) Guild Hall/Personal Home – after all, the game is called Guild Wars, Guild Halls really are necessary, and the small or personal Guild should have access.
Tried every combination of the name, it does not recognize it, and it is not in blue in the destroy screen.
Why do you even give this crap out.
And while I’m at it, only three bosses, chests once per day? really 15,000 Candy Corn for a 20 slot bag? I can buy one cheaper.
I try to be positive, but the destruction of Halloween by the Anet “developers” is just , well….., stupid.
Turn them into bricks. That is what you do with them. What is so hard about that?
Hi All,
I would like to thank everyone for their support toward the pioneering work we are doing, as we drive the world of Tyria forward.
The passion, and intelligence that our community devotes to making this game great is both humbling and essential.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>
So thank you all so much for your support, passion and collaboration, and please understand that Arena is an amazing team with an amazing community. And together we build worlds!

Chris, that was a wonderful post that should assuage many, but probably not all.
In my humble opinion, this type of philosophical design approach to some problems is lacking to help assuage the boilover effect that some bugs or system limitations have created in a very reactionary Forum.
Has Anet ever considered a Communications director to bring the Arena teams vision, and it’s reality, to point with the communities vision and reality. This type of relationship lacks continuity without a single point of contact, ala Press Secretary.
I can give you loads of posts where any response, however small, would go hand in hand with your vision of a truly collaborative relationship.
A Fulltime continuity / Press contact on the Forums is necessary, IMHO.
I read the following 2 posts, and I spit my drink all over my desk because I could not stop laughing. These are 2 sad testaments to the state of the game maker.
I do play solo or in my small tight 5 man guild. so it is just amusing.

This certainly ranks up there as close to number one for me. Oh how I could teach these people some business sense.

Guess I’ll clean up before playing.
OMG.
As a longtime customer service professional I am humored with the lack of professionalism exhibited. I am also horrified that the Anet team plays on the live servers unmonitored.
No company legal team would ever let that happen for brand protection.
All I can say is WOW!
I wish I could hear the legal team’s response to this, at least let us hope that someone in the house even tell’s them…..
If you do not want to teach the player what to do or how to get better, then go use another grouping tool, as your really not a team player for your server.
I have added every Anet employee I see to my friends list. When I get 5 chests, I email them to them on a rotating schedule.
Only one Anet employee has been gracious enough to respond, and he sent me some Frostgorge Clams in return. We joked via email about how many we get, and no keys to open them. For his great nature I sent him some Omnomberry Bars, and he was gracious enough to give my Guild a shout out in all chat.
3pm eastern time, announced as Timberline, actually in Blazeridge, SBI server.
I mean really, even the simple coding does not work.
hmmmmmm, they are looking at their cards, with no clue how to beat getting their bluff called……

When you chose stats they become soulbound to that character, it said so when you chose the stats.
No it did not. It simply applied the soulbound moniker and the box disappeared. No mention of soulbound until I tried to put it in the Guild Bank.
Try Super Mario Brothers by Nintendo, it is an antique, but no bugs.

Hey folks,
Just a bit of clarification here – Items that were soulbound prior to the change are still soulbound.
I hope this clears things up.>>
Keep this post refreshed until they show us the respect we deserve.
Anet, please turn all our soulbound weapons and armors to Account bound as you advertised in multiple statements. Do the right thing.
^That would require a continuity manager, something that has been lost to Anet since before launch.
Hey folks,
Just a bit of clarification here – Items that were soulbound prior to the change are still soulbound.
I hope this clears things up.
Even the items that were not soul bound prior to the update, when you assign the stats, they are now soulbound too. How did you miss communicating that?
Weapons, armor, and trinkets that had a magic find stat combo have been flagged as account bound and will now allow double-clicking to permanently change the stat combo. This is a one-time ability, and the options are dependent on where the item was acquired. All trading post listings for these items have been cancelled and the items returned to the poster.
So, hopefully, you’ll be quite happy.
These items will be soulbound the Character you play when you click them, so be careful.
I started assigning stats to weapons in the bank that were not soulbound, I noticed right away they became soulbound to the char assigning the stats. Poor planning by Anet here. Just poor.
(edited by Sligh.2789)
Hover the cursor over your equipment one at a time, the item in question will show no stats, double click the item, and a selection window will pop up, allowing you to select any stat combo.
