As much as I agree with the post and would like it to happen… you may as well tell this to a brick wall, because the devs aren’t going to be listening, and if they are then they won’t do anything about it.. they love their 20-minute-men.
I’ve heard people using this build http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/74697-build-sonic-boon-shout-greatsword/
Good luck in finding one you enjoy
I could safely say I can do all dungeons without a wipe with the right setup, killing everything too. Dungeons aren’t particularly challenging but it beats the brain-dead-event farming. As previously mentioned it is a matter of time, people want to be the most efficient.. then some complain about how empty dungeons are.. though I suppose if they made the mobs a challenge in the first place.. who knows. All ifs and buts
It happens it’s competitive, do you want me to hold your hand because somebody called you a mean name?
Agree with OP, a well thought post..
Posted it in multiple threads, but, Anet hates people that put effort in and rewards the 20-minute-men with guaranteed rares from a world boss chest..
Blues from a dungeon chest though! /unenthusiastic cheer
Rewards were probably intended to be sheit because Anet hates people that put effort into their game, but loves people that log on 20mins a day for a world boss!
I didn’t sign it, take it away..
Fractals of the Mists is already one of the most rewarding parts of the game, and already has a lot of people farming it regularly. Rather than increasing the rewards, the skins should be purchasable with Pristine Fractal Relics so players don’t have to rely on RNG.
what?
hahahahahahha
I agree with this but as if it would ever happen, Anet love the people that log on for 20 minutes a day to do a world boss or whatever.. not people that put any real time into it.
Here was me hoping it wasn’t going to make a return… wrong section by the way, it’s not a dungeon.
I quit the game for awhile and just came back. After completing the 30, 40 and attempting the 50 dungeon I can still say, without a single doubt, the dungeons in this game are neither fun nor rewarding. They are absurdly difficult unless you focus on running and gunning. Essentially, all mechanics and classes are moot, just range dps and run. Melee, strap on your ranged anything and prepare to be forced into ranged combat. It’s hilarious that heavy armor wearers take virtually the same amount of damage as light. Something is clearly not working!
Now doing Twilight whatever and we were kicked mid dungeon, for apparently no reason. No one left the group, but one guy crashed to desktop.
If not for being free, I’d have not come back.
This is an unbelievably great game during the lvling process, the end…
Now, they are hardly absurdly difficult, find the right build and put together the right party and every dungeon is easy. My party usually consists of 2 guardians 2 war and an ele/mes.. so forced ranged can be annoying, not hard just time consuming. I can quite safely say I could complete all dungeons without a single wipe with the right party…
I can help you with your build/dungeons if you like..

Couldn’t complain about a buff if it has been, one was needed. Haven’t had the chance to try it myself though.
Reading a lot of threads on the GW2 forums and seeing where most of the activity is, I had believed that a lot of the GW2 end game content was based around dungeons, but..
Now I think that’s wrong, 1 bit of solid dungeon content in the past 8 months (fractals) also not including AC revamp because it wasn’t totally new or FF dungeon as it’s only temporary. Now, I don’t think I’m being greedy in asking for a bit more dungeon content than that.. the dungeons soon lost their replayability by the turn of the year. I don’t even particularly care about rewards I just want more dungeons to play.
The dungeons are often buggy, there is no LFG mechanic and the party system isn’t too great overall, the demand for dungeons isn’t even that big from the players, the rewards given for a world boss are better than a dungeon, which requires more time and in some cases more effort. I like coordination in my play not “run here grab X return to Y” or “kill X amount of Z till Y is happy” or spam auto attack because your skills don’t work, grab a free rare at the end for your “effort.” So you can see why this is a disappointment.
People praised the idea of SaB and that new minigame as ‘a refreshing break’, a break should be a different game.. if I wanted to play platformers or party games I’d go and play those, not demand Anet make content of that style..
People disliked the addition of the FF dungeon, it ‘forced’ them to group and complete their story, or it was too hard blahblahblah excuses etc.
As dungeons are the most enjoyable part of the game for me, it left me thinking two things; did I buy the wrong game? (GW1 had a pretty heavy dungeon focus) and, are dungeons even getting that much attention?
(edited by SnoodBeAR.5286)
No, suck it up and realize some stuff is going to take a little bit more effort than you’d like.
Well if you had the current dungeons as easy mode, then for hard mode just buff them up a bit like GW1 did with HM, it’s no more work than the fractals thing.. probably less
That’s just it. People – like the OP – are already finding the current dungeons too challenging, so making them EASY Mode and then adding a HARD Mode will defeat the whole purpose of this segregation. Just scaling them up infinitely like Fractals – as per my previous suggestion – will save Devs a lot of work in the long run, I think. This way, people can keep leveling up as high as they wish, or stop leveling when they reach their optimal difficulty level.
Wouldn’t learning the fights and improving personal skill levels be better than begging for nerfs to fights?
Agreed, it would prepare them better for HM. If they run EM and scrape it with a poor build they are going to complain about HM and ask to nerf that too.
Why do you need marriage? Roleplaying? but… why? I thought you RP’rs were good at pretending..
farming events
have fun
with a very small amount of us doing proper content such as dungeons

I think I’d do hard mode for the challenge, not for the loot if it’s anything like the current loot table of mainly greens and blues.
A reintroduction of hard mode, similar to the one in GW1 would increase my currently fading interest in GW2. Though HM wasn’t introduced until 2 years after prophecies released… fingers crossed people!
Will Southsun be ending in a Group Dungeon?
I would like to know so that I don’t waste my time with the content. I have no desire to complete a single player chain; only to beg 4 other players to run me through a dungeon.
Forcing people to party to complete a dungeon is just wrong, especially after a long chain of soloable content.
I sure hope so, in my personal opinion temporary themed dungeon events are the most entertaining type of event in GW2. Keep them coming ArenaNet!!!
To paraphrase other people here, you are just selfish wanting them to add content for just one type of player, but I am not serious, they can have as many new dungeons as you want, themed to if you like, just don’t add them to story arcs like this, and still waiting for that answer, this oh so friendly and helpfull company that listens to its player base can’t be bothered answering.
Look basically I don’t care whether or not you want more dungeons, and whether or not you get them, that’s not the question under discussion here, at least it’s not supposed to be the question, the question is will southsun cove storyline end in a 5 man dungeon, it just needs a yes or a no from anet and we can all move on doing our own thing.
What… but you aren’t selfish for wanting them to add some meta-event/world event or something? Why can people not want dungeon content, he didn’t say no other type of content should be added just that he’d like to see more dungeon content.
Change the title to, ‘Make fractals give as good loot as world bosses, then even more people might touch the content’
I like the challenges idea, I think one without a single member being downed would be a good one.
hahahah, good job, OP
(edited by SnoodBeAR.5286)
“you don’t have to be there all night, you can log in for 20 minutes”
“and then for the casual players who don’t want to have to chase after those goals we have this open kinda casual fun world that they can run around in too”Except they really haven’t been casual friendly since November. Here’s how:
- made the game even more dungeon focused
- added DR and changed the loot structure in November taking away the possibility of farming anything T6 in the open world
- almost no minigames in towns (no newly added ones either, actual farming, no fishing game, no hunting games complete with cosmetics props and rewards)
- added gear to the game that’s exclusionary and told us that new content with this gear would only be available to players with agony resistance
- did very little if any DE additions or meta additions since November to give us that feeling of being in a dynamic world.
Does this answer your question SnoodBeAR?
Just because they didn’t give you casual content you want it doesn’t mean it hasn’t been added. The addition of SaB, the holiday events, southsun cove and the bulk of living story have hardly been dungeon orientated at all, we got 2 bits of proper dungeon content in the past 8 months and one piece of that was temporary.. so no, it has been dungeon focused at all.. they have just done a few things that affect your farming
(edited by SnoodBeAR.5286)
So minority should be ignored and Arena Net should only cater to the majority?
Should Arena Net show the middle finger to the players who don’t earn them the most money? They cater to a wide variety of players-Fractals comes to mind (I don’t care that much about them at all, and they would have probably never been added if they catered only to my playstyle.) Same with WvW and PvP-I don’t like them that much, but they are available for that type of player.
And lastly, if the game is advertised as casual friendl , so-called “elite”, hardcore players shouldn’t feel as if they are receiving the short-end of the stick, especially since they are in fact receiving the product they paid for-one doesn’t order pepperoni pizza to complain about the lacking sausages in it (no offense intended.)
And as I said, who knows they may add more difficult stuff or harder version of already available content in the future, judging from GW1 (not a promise, but the possibility is in there.)
Can you point me to the place where Guild Wars 2 is advertised as casual friendly, and casual friendly doesn’t mean it isn’t going to have any challenging content added and that people shouldn’t expect it…
No, not at all.
Noone said 20-50 persons and I never said 2-3 hours, just not under 1 hour. People have been wanting 12 man….
We have 12 man instances in GW1. I think I saw one person once in 6 years (and we weren’t separated by servers).
Did you go there once at 4am in those 6 years or what?
Some peoples idea of fun is a challenge and not sitting there brain dead mashing 1 and then occasionally every other skill with no thought put into it. Believe it or not I think content should require tactics.
(gasp)
Because tactics can only being applied when you have to spend 2-3 hours in a dungeon with 20-50 persons right?
Noone said 20-50 persons and I never said 2-3 hours, just not under 1 hour. People have been wanting 12 man….
Not really a matter of skill or difficulty for me in this aspect.
I just don’t like spending 3+ hours in a dungeon.I don’t like your idea overall though, other than the “skilled, a good player, and require immense teamplay, strategies and preparation?” part.
You’re totally right, content should be very easy and I should be able to do it in under an hour without putting any effort into it.
Not really..
Why play if you are just going to hit a number of skills in every situation and win, there is less fun to be had in easy content than in a challenge.
I came here to have fun, not to impress a random stranger and show the world how awesome I’m when playing a game.
Also, many people have families, REAL FRIENDS, business in the real world so, a single dungeon lasting for 2-3 hours may be much; if you are seriously about hardcore content, then 1 single AFK should be the doom of the whole party, no kitten like “lets wait for him” or “lets just get going without him”.
If not, then we will just have more of the same and people will come here asking for a more hardcore content.
Some peoples idea of fun is a challenge and not sitting there brain dead mashing 1 and then occasionally every other skill with no thought put into it. Believe it or not I think content should require tactics.

I’m glad you guys had a good run, sorry I couldn’t make it.
The community has got me thinking that I’ve bought the wrong game, they whinge about the addition of dungeon content because they don’t like organised parties or it’s too hard. Then they praise the idea of mini games as a “refreshing break”, if you want a break.. play a different game?
Lol, it’s an MMORPG, those don’t have DLC.
FYI Olba, GW1 had dlc content of sorts, enabling you to do more missions playing in some ‘pivotal moments to earn rewards’
See here: http://www.guildwars.com/products/extras/missionpack/
Saying most people faceroll CoF P1 is ridiculous, I don’t know anyone (not to say there isnt someone) that purely logs on to run CoF and that’s the only dungeon they do, I think you must have been doing it to meet that type of player or something.
It is a shame that it is only a small minority of players that want harder content, GW2 should be known as the starter MMO from now on, to give you a hand before you decide to go the big boy games…
(edited by SnoodBeAR.5286)
I’m starting to think Anet don’t show as much love to the dungeon side of the game, one solid bit of dungeon content in 8months (fractals) and I suppose that temp dungeon could count too… but every other section has threads with answers from staff but this section seems neglected, for such a large part of the game you’d think they’d address the issues quicker.
(edited by SnoodBeAR.5286)
Not sure about order armours but I made my shield skin that was soulbound to 1 char soulbound to a different one by transmuting it onto a white then onto char no.2s shield.
I’ve done Arah P4 a few times helping friends get dungeon master, it’s taken us no longer than 2hrs30, and that was our first try. I have a guardian or warrior I could bring..
I would be happy to lend a hand though I probably won’t be able to do something like Arah P4 until Wednesday.
That 3k achievements thing is a bit silly too imo, I only just about have 3k but have had Dungeon Master since 2700 or something, maybe earlier
I would be up for something like this, I have an 80 guardian and warrior both with builds I enjoy… and a level 75 mesmer that could reach 80 with little effort
Dude, you have posted in pretty much every thread I have seen that is about the new content and its dungeons. Complaining that people are narrow minded or something, you write too much for me to bother to read and at times you posted 3 in a row, so yeah, I think you whinge more…
Been telling people the same stuff even though its irrelevant just because you want everybody to know you are against the idea of an organised party
Also look for the threads, more are saying about how FF shouldn’t have ended in a dungeon than are praising it and begging for more
(edited by SnoodBeAR.5286)
It’s ok for people to want solo content and no dungeons, but as soon as people want dungeons and not solo content the thread becomes too extreme.
I too would like a purely dungeon orientated content update, fractals being the only serious dungeon content added and the AC rework.
It would stop people complaining, but then they would complain that you’re isolating some of the player base. And brand you as ‘Solo-haters’ or ‘Against casuals’
Agreed
GW2 needs over-sized smashy hammers even if traditional ones have relatively small heads
Come on Anet, Knighthonor is ready for new content. Get building then!
Sure man, keep telling yourself that!
But my experience with rangers has been pretty poor, of course I can’t say they all suck as I’ve had 2 good ones that I can recall in the many runs I’ve done.. even those were guildies. Pug’s hate rangers unless they are rangers but I do think that they need a buff and think its a bit of an iffy profession at the minute.
I think we’ve all established OP is wrong.. the only non-casual content we’ve had since release has been fractals, but yeah, that’s just like, my opinion, man.
2 Guardians, 2 dps warriors and (ele or mes)
Works in pretty much every situation, though I’m obviously open to allowing other classes in as long as they listen or know what they’re doing.
Norns have survived for hundreds of years on raw eggs, chicken and protein supplements. All whilst sticking to a strict 5×5 strength training routine. No cutting either.
Only if it has the ‘Master Baiter’ title! Hohohoho!
(Not really)
But yeah fishing could be good, used for ingredients in other crafting professions too..
To complete the story content I’m being forced into events of big zergs. It has little structure to it and has no tactics, I don’t feel like I’m doing anything but waiting for the event to finish. The instances are repetitive and pretty much identical. I don’t like that! People enjoy bits of different content, we haven’t had a dungeon since release (not including fractals) and it was about time we got one. The majority of people can deal with a dungeon without getting their knickers in a twist, so it’s not much of a problem that they force you to finish the story in that way. Dungeons are also a core part of GW2 (omg, ikr, SHOCKED) being one of the primary ways to obtain gear and the main part of the endgame content, surprisingly I don’t sit in Orr and kill X, pick up Y or go to Z.
Also if every bit of F&F was instances or events I’m sure people would be just as annoyed in the lack of variety of the new content.
Getting heated in here, I think a fight might break out if you aren’t careful!
In all seriousness, it’s one item you’re going to miss out on.. but not everyone will miss out, so don’t worry! Yet again people making such a big deal over the little things…
Get some friends, play the dungeons, stop the whinging and stop being such a big child… Why should the devs not include dungeons because you feel you cannot handle the apparently mammoth task that is a dungeon. There is nowhere near as much pressure as you imply.
So what that a story ends with a dungeon, I’m not happy I had to find out the rest of the story through world events and repetitive instances. Running around fixing signs…
Believe it or not dungeons and ‘forced’ group content are a core part of most MMO’s end game because, you know, you should play them with others and that’s sort of what devs would think an MMO community would want.
Yeah, not everybody is going to get everything or the economy would be pretty shoddy, no demand for anything…
Just face the fact that you can’t have everything given to you
“In Guild Wars 2, everybody should have access to every item. It’s not fair that somebody has something I don’t and they should be banned. I want a drop. Please.”
Just face it that you aren’t going to be able to get every goody they bring out..
