I clicked on it perfectly fine on Saturday.
Stormbluff Isle, if you think it’s server bugged.
To be honest, I’d rather any changes get tacked on to the traits than to the utility slots. We’ve already got a lot of things competing for those three slots already.
Blurred Frenzy
About two patches back I could move forward while using this skill, albeit not very far but it was useful when people tried to back away from me while I was using what equates to be one of the stronger skills in the Mesmer melee build.
Now it seems that BF has gone totally stationary?!If you “push through” while using this skill it now cancels the remaining duration. IE cancels the skill. So with this change instituted we must run up on our enemy, ask them nicely to stay still at 130 range and continue to stay still for 2.5 seconds while we use this non-channeled channeled skill.
Let the warrior and thief dance around invincible spamming high damage but make the Mesmer stand still.
This current change makes Sword very weak. Prior to the change I was able to run a full melee invis build in sPVP very similar to a thief. Now I am left with this skill as an opener
The only stationary non channeled skill in the game?
This has always required me to stand still. Been using sword since early start, and would accidentally move out of this sometimes.
Don’t take just a sentence of my post and answer only to that sentence, please.
I’ve made a whole post, it is worth reading, don’t you think?Do you really think that the 5 skill is an heal? It is a 3 seconds casting time heals which heals only for 2k, not worth using. Also that was said before that it is not worth fighting as a Moa, now you are saying it is worth? Have you tried to fight as a Moa? Seriously.
Guys, I’m wasting my time here. Your point of view is extremely spoilt and you have no idea of what overpowered means, you are keep saying the same things over and over, hoping that they makes sense if you keep repeating them.
You will realize that Moa was op when ANet nerfs it in the next balancing patch. Have fun with your fair and well balanced Moa Morph. You are the only person here with absolutely no logical basis to his argument. In fact, whenever a logical counter argument is presented, you immediately dismiss it as Bull kitten.
Plenty of good player on this forum have given you tons of ways to deal with/avoid Moa Morph. Even by reading your posts, it is apparent that you don’t engage a mesmer with any kind of forethought or strategy.
Your ego is so big that being the best player, anything that kills you must be OP. Face the facts, Moa only works on scrubs like you. Most good players don’t even give it a second thought.
Mesmers are the single hardest professions to play. The AI of PvE is quite challenging, but that’s nothing compared to a human player capable of strategic thought backed by at least 16 skills at his/her disposal.
I’d hate to see what happens if he tried the Fort Trinity skill point challenge solo and got Moa’d.

2. Sooo. You are saying to run to outrange the Unload… Do you realize how stupid is that thing? First, you are assuming that the Mesmer won’t follow you, second you are leaving the objective (trebuchet, node) which is your main target, third you can’t deal damage if you outrange the unload, you know? Also we are considering only the Illusionary Unload, did you know that Mesmers have other 7 skills excluding Moa, Heal and Duelist? We are making theories on the hypothetic case that the mesmer is doing nothing except casting Illusionary Duelist, which I think it won’t happen in any fight.
[…]
Just a thought…how can you play a Mesmer and not know that the unload is coming from the Illusionary Duelist, which always stands still when doing it, and not the Mesmer?
The only mantra build that I could see being of any use is having Mantra of Pain (direct damage one) with 1 second recharge, and traited for healing. You get a decent 3k heal every 5-6 seconds to everyone around you, if you smash that button fast enough. This is a fairly powerful support tool, IMO. but it still leaves 4 seconds of charging up the mantra.
You get healed by that too, by the way.
Exalted Mantles clip into the Exalted Coat pretty much 100% of the time, so that you will see the coat through the mantle. Depending on what motion the character is making, it may be barely noticeable when standing still to extremely obvious when the character moves his arms. Seems like the mantle needs to be adjusted…
Model is wearing the complete Exalted Armor set from head to toe.
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Class: Mesmer
Equipment Worn:
Head: Carrion Exalted Masque of Carrion (Level Requirement 80)
Shoulders: Carrion Exalted Mantle of Carrion (Level Requirement 80)
Body: Carrion Exalted Coat of Carrion (Level Requirement 80)
Hand: Carrion Exalted Gloves of Carrion (Level Requirement 80)
Legs: Carrion Exalted Legs of Carrion (Level Requirement 80)
Feet: Carrion Exalted Boots of Carrion (Level Requirement 80)
Main Hand: Mystic Sword (Level Requirement 80)
Offhand: Traveler’s Orrian Sabre of Air (Level Requirement 80)
Alt Weapon: Carrion Pearl Broadsword of Air (Level Requirement 80)
Items were all acquired by self-crafting at a crafting station.

The recent patch made dungeon tokens account bound instead of soul bound to a single character.
I have many different tokens before the patch. The text on those tokens SAYS “Account Bound” but it is NOT letting me move it to a different char on the same account.
Meanwhile, I did a dungeon after the patch. The new tokens WERE able to be moved to a different char.
2 things…
1) am I the only one who fights as a Moa? I mean c’mon!! Damage that scales from all your stats?!! I’ve hit mesmers for almost 3k as a Moa, so please, Moa morph me, I kitten dare you.
Nope, they’re too busy whining about how it’s kittening their DPS.
2) I swear to god I’m the only Mesmer that uses mass invisibility….
Highly possible, yes. Time Warp is just too much crack to let go.
Adding a specific “report for gold selling” option to the in-game chat/mail report options would be nice too. I see a lot of people asking which is the right option to pick when reporting them. I usually pick spamming, but I feel that “gold selling” is quite worse than that, but I can’t accuse them of scamming since I can be 100% sure they’re actually scamming their “customers”
This option is actually on the report options now. It’s been there for a couple of days now.
To my surprise, the Restorative Mantras trait has no target limit. Just used it in a Claw of Jormag zerg. Everyone within a close range of you will be healed. And it healed me for ~10% of my health.
I have account bound tokens & recipes in the bank, that I can’t remove from the bank on any character but the ones who earned them.
You may want to feedback the recipes part, as I had no problems shuffling two I bought from karma vendors after the patch.
With 200 healing power (i.e. no healing equipment), I’m finding each mantra cast heals for ~15% health I think? Not in front of the home computer right now to pay attention. So minor but very steady. You can keep it up with Mantra of Pain every 6 seconds indefinitely in combat, as it’s available for recast once the charges wear off. I’m very curious how it will turn out when completely decked in Cleric’s equipment.
I was able to get cross-server people into an instance when everyone waited outside till everyone was there, and then one person zoned in. That gave everyone else the prompt for joining, and everyone was in the same instance after clicking.
If everyone went in on their own, the mentioned problem sometimes occurred. The only way I’ve gotten out of it was to have everyone leave the instance, get kicked to overflow, travel to their regular servers, and then try zoning in again with everyone there. It did take a while though, so it may just be a timer.
No doing anything = not in the middle of an activation bar, if I remember correctly.
So if they have all instant cast abilities, that’s a free 5% damage for you.
Minor issues tend to be the easiest things to fix. If a major issue could be fixed in two seconds, it would be.
Of course, then you’d have half a million people griping about how oh no, they fixed that issue quickly, why couldn’t they fix <insert pet peeve issue here>.
Just throw the word into Google and see what comes up.
Really.

Heal Support seems to be working well, with Mantra of Pain and that Inspiration 20 trait that AE heals.
Just need Cleric’s gear to really try it out though.
The tradeskill gear that corresponds to Power/Healing Power/Toughness should be Cleric’s XXXXXX, I think.
I’ve had a post that I +1’d that I was able to activate again a 2nd time. The only thing different is that I’m logged in from a different IP — work instead of home.
The same bullet point that told you about the gear in the patch notes also told you the answer.
Dungeons
General
• Updated vendors in the Ascalonian Catacombs and Caudecus’s Manor to sell level 80 versions of their unique skins rather than level 60 and 70. Players who purchased the level 60 and 70 versions will soon be given the opportunity to upgrade those to level 80 without having to use transmutation stones.
> Get Moa’d at half health
> Is dead before it wears offCompare this to the elite skill I get as a thief, Basilisk venom, which stuns for one second, two seconds if I go 30 points into Deadly Arts. Mostly mesmers are pretty well balanced and I enjoy fighting them, but as soon as one Moas me I just sigh and wait to die. It’s kinda ridiculous. Even Blizzard had the sense to make the sheep spell break on damage, so it could be used to remove an enemy from the fight but wasn’t an “I Win” button.
So…you don’t even look at the new abilities on your ability bar during the 10 seconds and try using them?
It’s kinda ridiculous.
Moa Morph is not Polymorph.
TW>moa but if you use any of the abilities that moa gives you the only thing you are doing is ccing yourself.
The point is, he just gave up when he turned into a bird. People are trained to think that transformed = no more character control from games like WoW and Rift — hence the comment about Polymorph. Then there was someone else in one of these ridiculous Moa threads testifying that OMG, I used Moa Morph when I was almost dead and it saved me! When if he was REALLY almost dead, that attacker could have easily killed him with even Moa attack abilities. They do enough damage for that.

You need to copy and paste because of the ? in the link.
His “this scenario” is talking about your 100 Blades scenario, Zogyark. It’s clearly not relevant to Moa.
I also get the feeling you don’t actually use a Mesmer, if you honestly think The Prestige is one way to stealth cast Moa. Mesmers have to use a utility slot for real
stealth. Your Moa scenario already has three slots filled so far:
Weapon(s) #1: Staff
Weapon(s) #2: ?
Utility #1: Stealth skill (Decoy, Veil)
Utility #2: ?
Utility #3: ?
Elite: Moa Morph
Traits: ?
So what else are you going to add in to the scenario?
Edit: Added in Staff.
(edited by Somna.5168)
Any PvE Mesmer with half a brain that tries out Moa Morph learns to not use it because the target can keep on attacking and kill you.
Unfortunately, it looks like mob AI is smarter than player “intelligence,” if PvP Mesmers are still using it regularly.
Read the second half of Erch’s post mixtoquente.
I’ve had no problems getting rid of Confusion with Null Field that I can recall. However, it’s rare that I get hit by Confusion at all. It’s also possible that you can’t pull Confusion simply because it does not have a corresponding boon to turn into in the first place.
Yes, clones are supposed to do minimal, if any, damage.
When you get higher level, you’ll start seeing them do 1 damage.
Their purpose is to look like you and either die or shatter.
Wait till you see male scholars wearing feathered vestments.
And here I thought it was picked because of the idiom about “having kittens” that English has.
Isn’t there an achievement for this as well?
I don’t think there is a butterfly mask specifically, but I know there are some masks that are from lower level tailoring.
And again and hopefully not again. :/
Extra post to unbug the thread. :/
Remember that Feedback is also a combo field. I know I have a hard time saying no to being able to apply Chaos Armor without needing a staff.

I decided to give Mesmers a bit of a try yesterday and today, and I’m finding that no one beats me in a duel. In bigger fights, I get my damage rolling, then simply stealth/run away behind a rock or a wall while my phantasms and conditions do plenty of damage.
[…]
…Is this supposed to be something like the opponent not being willing to run out of a Feedback area? Finding it hard to believe that someone is just standing there and not either
1) Retreating because they can’t use abilities.
2) Attacking you back.
People still click their targets?
:)
Melee level faster than cloth. Thats it in a nutshell. What does Anet do about that without skewing balance in other areas? I can’t really say….
But…but…what if you’re melee cloth?
And yes, getting the exotic weapon is a night and day difference Ainianu.
So I’d like to know if I’m the only one who gets the following impressions when playing Mesmer solo in PvE, compared to my play experience with other professions.
- downing groups of normal mobs takes significantly longer
- instant, direct damage-dealing at the beginning of combat is significantly lower
The only time I have ever felt anything like this in PvE was dealing with the instance boss in the story instance below the Temple of Melandru in Cursed Shore.
Given how often that stupid thing teleports itself and how often it’ll suddenly go completely invulnerable, anyone dealing with that solo would feel exactly the same way.
- in general, it takes a lot of specializing / picking certain weapons (sword, pistol, staff for me) and specific rotations / skill combinations in order to down mobs at a speed somewhat comparable to other professions who can pick any weapon and just faceroll
Like previously mentioned by others, that applies to all professions, not just Mesmer.
Just comparing the tooltip with that listing of damage, I can say that whoever pulled those numbers up there was not consistent.
Phantasmal Swordsman is showing a tooltip of damage 161 with a Steady weapon equipped, for example.
I think the only thing the class really direly needs…
is a tutorial for each of the weapon abilities. ESPECIALLY for abilities that fire attacks in rapid succession.
Sure, it’ll only help out the 1% that RTFM instead of blindly clicking through, but something’s better than nothing!
Would you consider having the utility slots be Decoy/Blink/Null Field instead?
Decoy for obvious reasons, Blink to break stun and Null Field to wipe buffs on them (to keep them from killing you faster or catching up to you) and debuffs on you (so you can get away easier).
You should be considering what your traits give you primarily when looking at the traits, IMO. The stat boosts on traits are just gravy.
Why Blink is an underused ability, I can’t understand. I absolutely adore the ability in sPvP. It’s brilliant for those last minute escapes, just have to be careful with how and where you use it. Anyone that uses decoy over this, so much shame.
It’s useful in WvW, from a positioning point of view too. And that stun break, oh man. There are sometimes pathing issues, I’ve found. That may just be due to my placement sometimes though. Just watch your terrain, and it’ll be fine. The CD of 30s is maybe a bit too steep, maybe 20s would be a better figure – although, it’s hard to say what would keep it balanced, or bring it into realms of “over-powered”.
It could be people not being used to a ground target for Blink. (i.e. people too used to WoW)
Your build sounds like a keep-away build. The last 5 points in Illusion definitely sound wasted as a result. Chaos is the only place that seems to makes sense to put those 5 points.
I don’t think the numbers on the tooltips are the actual damage of the ability. Just some base number. I’ll have to look when I get home though, which won’t be for another 7 hours or so. Sigh
I can’t believe people are actually against this change. As said back on the first page I believe this basically the same as another MMO randomly deciding that one of the classes can’t use mounts.
To some of us, there’s a big difference between complaining about not having a 10-25% run speed bonus and not having a 60-100+% run speed bonus. :P
