This has been fixed in todays (30 Sept 2014) update.
Thank you! Clicking & Dragging was getting on my nerves.
Hi guys. Ever since I started helping a guildie out with her living story I have noticed something disturbing. There is a trend of players encouraging others to “mass report” other players in order to try and get them banned.
My guildie is relatively new to this game. The level of abuse she got recently really upset her, as did players telling her she was going to be banned because them and their friends were all reporting her. Unfortunately, she didn’t take any screenshots – but another guild member did.
The person you refer to is neither new to the game, unaware of what he’s doing, nor a female. He has a very long history of doing exactly what he’s doing here, and quite frankly I’m surprised with the amount of personal harassment he does (targetting specific people and/or guilds), that ANet has allowed him to continue with anything more than token bans.
Thanks as always, Dulfy!
Don’t you get between 1-5 resources from a harvesting node, though? I know you do on many of them out in the world.. So you may only “harvest” once, but you might get 5 resources. Dunno what the average would work out to, never really paid that much attention to it.
I’ve found (at least on my end) that if I double click a stackable item in my inventory that has a partial stack of that item already in the bank, then it will move that item from my backpack to my bank and merge it into the existing stack.
And I can move any item from my bank to my backpack by double clicking on it.
But if I double click, say, a piece of armor in my backpack, it will not move it into the bank.
If I click a stack of 50 Ancient Wood Logs in my backpack though, and I have a stack of Ancient Wood Logs in my bank, it will move those 50 from my backpack to the bank, into the existing stack (unless it exceeds 250 in the bank, at which point it leaves the excess in my backpack, and then I have to manually move the excess into a new bank slot because double clicking it doesn’t work).
No, it means that on a brand new account, new characters will not be able to press “F” to view a Vista until they reach a certain level.
But if you already have character(s) on the account higher than that level then you can view them, you don’t have to wait for each character to hit level 9 or 19 or whatever it is.
I actually bought several copper-fed for my alts that never will become over level 10. I planned to park them at certain jumping puzzles because I’m not good at jumping. For e.g., Dark Reverie. Just for the convenience of not needing to carry copper stuff when they will be gathering the occasional ore node. Now I find they are all useless. Lol.
This opens a precedence of an existing Gemstore item being nerfed. Based on this—my faith in the store has gone down, and chances are I will be leaving this game anyway. Not feeling like playing at all after all the nerfs that were unannounced prior to this Feature Pack. I had been very excited, now I’m totally disillusioned. Sigh… What do you say when a company advertizes a car with a certain engine then is able to change it to a lesser one, with no responsibility to the customers who purchased it based on their ad-stated ability.
Your customers made decisions based on your ad.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Reminds me of EQ over again. How many times expansions were announced with all sorts of “exciting improvements”, then the nerf bat swings out from the left field. Whoa… I’m getting too old for this.
Fool me once, shame on me.
While it doesn’t fix your problem with the CFSoM (and quite legitimate complaint, IMO), one workaround that might be available to you is WvW (or even EotM).. You can pop in either one of those and pick up salvage kits (and/or hit a merchant to sell stuff), then when you exit you’re right back where you were at the Jumping Puzzle. Buy 10 salvage kits at a time and you only have to go pick up new ones once a month or so.
This was in the patch notes. If you volunteer to move to a more populated map, you get a couple of bonuses; movement speed by 15% (in PvE only), karma gain by 5%, and experience from kills by 10% for 10 minutes.
It’s strictly so they can reduce the number of maps in use at any one time, which frees up CPU & Memory resources for other stuff.
You’ll probably see this most often on maps that have World Bosses that spawn on them – You get 500+ people all decending onto one boss which opens up multiple (overflow) maps, then when the boss is over the maps empty out except for a couple of people who decide to stay (on that map).. So then you have 3, 4, or more maps with just 2 or 3 people each one them.
see the chat log
Shrug.. Sounds like a bug. Stop the presses.

I understand there’s some charr vendor in Lion’s Arch somewhere who sells apples. You might go look for him sometime. Though it might be finding the unfindable.
No, he’s just part of the level 30 personal story, named “Meeting my Mentor”. He doesn’t actually sell apples, and you have to be inside the personal story instance to see/interact with him. He’s just supposed to be an “undercover” Priory agent who’s cover is selling apples — that he doesn’t actually sell.
There is a vendor in Gendarran Fields named Apple Jack (he’s just North of the Cornucopian Fields Waypoint) that sells apples for 16c each though. It’s not Karma, but it’s the best we got.
Black Lion Salvage Kits have a lvl 15 restriction too.
All boxes are checked on the login screen:

When loading the launcher, it doesn’t Auto-Login. You have to manually press the Log In button.
It still Auto-Plays though, AFTER you hit the Log In button.
Please note there is also a part of the patchnotes that says leveling from 1-15 is now faster. Id be interested to see how fast this is. Sure, keyfarming might be slower…but will it still be quick enough to be viable?
1-10 is definitely faster than before. I dunno if it will be fast enough to make key running a thing again. Maybe someone will come out with a streamlined method, dunno. But it’s something I might do now and again.
You have to keep in mind, though, that any time spent GETTING to level 10 will be additional time necessary to the whole key run; So while a Key Run could be done in ~20 minutes prior to the patch, today it would take ~20 minutes PLUS whatever time it takes to reach level 10 (since you still have to do the story).
Even if you could reach level 10 in an hour (highly improbable), that means it would still take 80 minutes per key.
And unless they’ve changed chests profoundly, ain’t nobody gonna spend 80 minutes just to get one key. (and unless you level with crafting or scrolls, I’m sure 80 minutes is going to be on the low side of the time needed).
I already miss being able to use my Mouse Wheel to adjust my price (by hovering over the value and spinning the wheel up or down).
That still works. It works on mine.
That’s weird, it’s working for me now, too – I swear it wasn’t before, I’m not completely crazy, I promise!
I already miss being able to use my Mouse Wheel to adjust my price (by hovering over the value and spinning the wheel up or down).
Not working for me either.
Both “Remember” boxes are checked, as well as Auto-Play, but it still makes me Log In – although it still Auto-Plays after hitting Login.
Delaying the info to patch release won’t change anything, a few minutes in and the spike would hit anyway. The problem is entirely around how ANET choose to develope this game, reinventing the wheel over and over, dusting off old tradeable items instead of bringing in new stuff for i.e. the added achievements.
The logical approach would’ve been that the boss loot etc. we now have to gather were added to the boss together with the patch, preferably with a better than stupidly low drop rate. Make us play the game for it instead of the usual whales buying it and the rest skipping it unless the RNG strikes.
So, of course ANET must be satisfied with the current, user-unfriendly system where someone convert gems, or buy from the hard working gold sellers who have a huge part in this failed virtual economy, for those 2000 gold needed.
You win the Internet, sir.
I was so excited when I read about the new TP UI last week, and it was a needed change. I still don’t understand why you give us the ability to sell stuff to the TP from anywhere and still make us visit a Black Lion NPC to take stuff out. With the new UI I was expecting this to change and give us the ability of taking our gold/items out of the TP from anywhere.
The ability to stand at a crafting station and buy things, craft them into items, then list them for profit (or just relisting them for a straight profit) would be too exploitable and heavily botted – even more so than it is now, since they wouldn’t have to move to do it.
If Anet is going to let this kind of insider trading continue then they should consider locking all sales on the TP until patches go live.
I shouldn’t need to “know someone” in order to get collections done.
Insider traders: get karma converter for ~300g
Not insider traders: now costs >1000g
For those who don’t know, guides to all collections and what you need were posted last night by people who had “special access” to the patch. All the items used for collections have since been bought out and relisted for 100x the price.
A number of video previews went up over the last day that talked about collections extensively including showing some of the items needed to complete. So for those who subscribe to those youtube channels, they got a head start. Dulfy’s collection guide went up yesterday as well, listing all the items needed.
It’s not like it was secret. Sorry you didn’t get in on at. I didn’t either but I don’t care. I’ll just collect them when they drop. And then sell it for filthy lucre to someone to lazy to find one themselves.
I understand what John is saying – once WoodenPotatoes released his video, then John considers that to be “public information” and therefore not bound by Insider Trading rules. (And I don’t mean to single WP out here, he’s just the only one with a video of the prepatch changes that I’ve seen).
And if that’s “All” that happened, then I’m perfectly fine with it; granted, I don’t subscribe to Dulfy or WPs youtube channels, but I have the OPTION to.
I think what many of us are concerned about (well, ok, at least in MY case) is that there are players that have access to this information weeks BEFORE the patch. WP may have posted his video on the 8th, but how long has he “known” that “(X )Exotic Weapon” would be used for a collection? A week? 2 weeks? Do we fully trust WP (and/or whomever else might have pre-patch access) with that type of information, and the wherewithal not to use and/or abuse that information prior to patch day?
TL;DR, I feel sorry for the people that didn’t have access to all the information at the same time; items that cost 200g last week are now spiking @ 2,000g. And some people who had items on the TP this morning and are at work all day are going to come home to find out the item they sold this morning on the TP for a pittance is now worth 10x more after the patch.
I know in my case, from here on out I’m going to take everything I’m selling off the TP at least 2 days before the patch and just wait until after the patch to list it. There’s obviously just too much room for abuse.
As long as we all have access to fair equipment, they’re going to put every endgame stuff such as skins in the GemStore. Quite sad, there are already a kittening kittening kitten bunch of skins blocked by cash shop. I could understand the clothes, but now… plenty of weapons already.
Given the latest NCSoft financial report, even with the inclusion of China, GW2 is made less money last quarter than it did without China the previous quarter….we’ll be seeing increasing focus on the gemstore as time goes on (although that was obvious given how almost every week has been a “sale” week for the last few months)
NCSoft doesn’t own/run the China version of the game. ANet is contracted via license fees to provide the software & coding changes, but they don’t make money from China’s Gemstore.
After watching WoodenPotatoes video yesterday, I specifically looked at one of the items he had mentioned wil be used for collections (that I knew I had one of), the exotic version of Ulgoth’s Tail.
Prior to September 8th they were selling for, at most, 5 gold.
After his video was released, every single one of them on the TP was bought and prices spiked at 225 gold. Even the “Buy Order” price is fluctuating between 30-50 gold (and there are dozens of Buy Orders at that price).
I can only imagine that all the other items specifically shown in his video are doing the exact same thing. I wouldn’t call that speculating, but honestly there’s not much that can be done about it unless they were to do something that other MMOs do and have a Private Test Server that anyone can use that will be used to test upcoming patches (and thus, everyone has access to the same “insider” type information at the same time).
It’s not about the people making money – that’s fine, and I couldn’t care less how much gold someone else makes – but these people having a headstart on knowing what’s coming, and therefore saving thousands of gold by being able to buy everything needed prior to patch day definitely creates an uneven playing field.
The author has updated his video (via Comments) that the key is still awarded at Level 10, but I suppose we’ll find out for sure one way or the other tomorrow.
Personally I would hate to see keyfarming removed, although I would understand their reasoning if they did so — but it’s one of the things I enjoy doing from time to time. I enjoy all types of grinding/farming to be honest.
Thanks for the replies, everyone. I think I’m going to go ahead and skip it, since there doesn’t seem to be any tangible benefits to having GW1 without sinking considerable time into playing it to unlock the various achievements.
As a heads up you will have three GW2 armor unlocks just for linking the GW1 and GW2 accounts.
Now that’s what I’m talking about.
Can you elaborate on that a bit Ashen?
As there’s currently only 12 hours left for this sale, could someone run down the benefits — if any — of buying GW1 strictly to unlock benefits within GW2 (such as the Hall of Monuments)?
And do you need Eye of the North in order to access the hall (and thus, earn achievements) from within GW1?
Rationale – I would buy GW1 (and perhaps EotN) if it gave me access to specific items or achievements within GW2, but I’m not looking for another game to sink thousands of hours into.
Thanks for your insight.
You’ll have access to all of the rewards on the HOM calculator
, with time and effort. The more you do, the more rewards you’ll get.Yes, you do need EOTM to be able to access the HOM. You don’t need to buy it right now, but you will need it at some point.
I really would not recommend getting the game if you just want it for the sake of HoM stuff. You will be playing the game for hours upon hours, and if you legitimately do not enjoy it, you will be wasting your time.
Thanks for the insight, Sarrs.
I’m sure I’d enjoy the game; I’m just cognizant of my rather compulsive nature – I tend to focus on one game at a time, and “splitting my time between GW1 and GW2” really wouldn’t be an option for me. If GW1 got its hooks into me, I’d forgo my GW2 time and focus entirely on GW1, and I enjoy GW2 entirely too much to give it up right now.
I played UO for 12+ years, to the exclusion of all other games for the same reason.
So if GW1 doesn’t offer any benefits simply for linking accounts, and would require actual playtime to unlock items, GW2 achievements, titles, or other cosmetics within GW2, then I would rather not “tempt myself”, as I know my nature.
I’ll keep watching the thread though, I’m not completely ready to get off the fence just yet.

Hopefully not.. I also hope they add the class/weights parameters to the API.
Keep in mind too, who would possibly have room to store 12,000 stacks of chests?
isnt the trading post the same for eu and us, probably also the same for china which is a whole mess more of people playing the game and possibly buying or farming keys and needing chests.
plus there could be a lot of speculation going on.
Drop wise I can say it doesnt seem like anything has been changed, got several yesterday so that can only mean something to do with the demand.
No, China is on their own TP. Only NA and EU are shared.
huh why is that?
Completely different economies. Not to mention they’re just starting out, so few people have any gold — there’s no way they could afford to pay US/EU prices for most items on our Trading Post.
Over 3,000,000 (yes, 3 MILLION) chests have been sold or otherwise removed from the TP this month alone.
July 30th – 3,928,706 chests on the TP.
August 30th – 843,395 chests on the TP.
That’s a reduction of 3,085,311 chests in 1 month.
That seems a bit more than mere “speculation”.

This is an excellent point. I will look into the colors, but I’m told they are substantially different.
I think screen shot examples would be beneficial. Just so we can be sure of what we’re looking for.
In an ideal world, I’d like to see these colors customizable. As a partially colorblind player I’ve had issues before with colors (such as red AoE rings on green terrain, meaning they’re practically invisible to me). But I know it’s not an ideal world, so just seeing the difference would, I think, be helpful.
(From another thread where a Dev supplied a screenshot):
This is really cool information! Thanks Talon.
Also, and not to be overly snarky here, but this is a good example of one of the ways players can feel like we’re not receiving the necessary communication from ArenaNet. I’ve been playing this game for 731 days (though a paltry 2200 hours or so) and I just today learned that official communications from a GM have a special chat color.
We’ve only recently started using visible and active GMs in the game. Prior to say – 2 months ago? – you wouldn’t have seen a GM.
Look for us more as we’re slowly ramping up our presence.
This IS absolutely awesome news. Really appreciate that.
GM’s are going to be innundated with “Can you give me a Legendary?”, “Duel me!”, and other snarky type chat, though.
Sure wish they whould have based this on account age, not character age. My account is exactly 365 days old today, but my oldest character is only 360 days or so — since I deleted my first character a week or so after I first started playing.
That’s not ANet staff. Add the name to your “Friends” or “Blocked” list and you’ll see who it is. S/he has a history of complaining about “Match Fixing” in EotM here on the forums. Guess this person doesn’t know impersonating Staff is bannable.
i dunno about you but i have more things to pay for then a game and my incomes isn’t exactly perfect, i also don’t have all the time in the world to farm my butt off just for some gold.
The game, unlike many others, allows you to buy nearly anything with your choice of gold (earned in the game) or cash (spent on gems); you can exchange the one for the other, so in effect, the game allows you the option of spending money or time. From my point of view, that’s very generous compared to most other games. (Heck, WoW still charges you a monthly fee even if you don’t play.)
If I understand you correctly, you’re suggesting that the game should also cater to people without money or time. If you can offer a constructive suggestion for how ANet might turn a profit from that, I’m sure they would consider it.
when i spend real money on a game, i better get my money’s worth.
Everyone’s definition of “money’s worth” is different. If you don’t believe you would get ten euros of entertainment from spending €10, then, of course, you shouldn’t spend it.
try again…..
I believe the ball is in your court: the system — and why it’s “fair” for the community as a whole — has been explained. What’s the alternative, that serves the need of game and its economy (including both buyers and sellers of gems)?
I always find it fascinating that the same people who won’t spend $10 on Gems→Gold (and would rather farm for ~15 hours to make the equivalent gold) have absolutely NO problem paying $10 (or more) to go see the latest 90-minute “Batman” movie. I guarantee you they wouldn’t work for the Movie Theater for 15 hours @ 75¢ an hour just to be able to see a movie.
Is it possible to get plans/recipe other than TP?
Don’t think so, but it’s only like 4 silver for all 4 scraps.
I honestly don’t know that much about economic or do I care.
All I know is I need to farm much more to get the things I want.
Many people probably felt the same way, that is why they are complaining.
Actually playing the game (aka moving from zone to zone, trying different content once in a while, doing things you enjoy) has the same effect (the accumulation of coin and items you can sell for coin) with two important benefits:
1: This is not subject to Anet’s diminishing returns because you are not doing the same thing or staying in the same place very long.
2: It’s a lot more fun.
I suggest trying it sometime.
Tol,
You do realize that no 2 people are alike, right?
Some people love to PvP.
Some people hate to PvP.
Some people love WvW.
Some people hate WvW.
Some people love map completion.
Some people hate map completion (especially for the 10th time).
Some people love dungeons.
Some people hate dungeons.
Some people hate to farm.
Some people LOVE to farm.
And the list could go on, and on, and on.
But that’s right – some people actually LOVE to farm. Just like some people love to fish and some people can’t stand it because you sit in 1 place for 6 hours and cast that pole 2,000 times. And there’s not a darn thing wrong with that, as long as that’s what the person enjoys doing. Just because you might think “playing the game” involves playing it exactly the way YOU want to doesn’t make your opinion any more valid than someone else’s who might want to “Play the game” an entirely different way.
this item should have been a vendor item and sold for 2g each and it would be a very nice goldsink
Now available from Black Lion Trader [Armorsmiths] for 10s each.
The merchant also has tabs to select specific boosts to enchant for the same cost (skipping the powder step)For those wondering about what boosts are converted when you double-click a powder. It enchants boosts from character inventory in the order listed in the tooltip.
Nice! Thank you Curtis!
As long as you are getting enough power on those key runs to convert everything, I guess it would make sense. After I posted I saw a screenshot of someone getting like 5 of them from one blc.
I opened 7 BLCs yesterday and got 9 of the powders in my very first BLC..
The next 6 BLCs I opened I only got 1 in each one. :p
Why does it take two karma boosters? Does that mean we effectively lose a karma booster by converting and using the new boosters as a Karma booster?
I didn’t have any to test with, but probably.. I know Karma Boosters are only 75gems while the other boosters are 150 gems, so they probably didn’t want people buying a bunch of Karma Boosters and using the Powders to “convert” them to a more expensive booster type.
So I would suggest if you want to keep your karma boosters intact, keep them in the bank and not your backpack when you use the powders to convert your other booster types.
One thing I guess this WOULD do it allow you to convert a speed booster to a strength booster, for example.. or an Experience Booster into a Magic Find Booster.. That’s kinda handy.
I.E., you use a powder to convert a “Speed Booster” to a “Enhanced Combat Booster”, then use the Enhanced Combat Booster and pick the STRENGTH booster.. That works, just tried it.
So for those of you looking for a way to convert booster types you no longer need, this could be useful.
So what happens is, when you USE one, it converts an existing boost in your inventory (such as a Strength Booster) into a “Enchanted Combat Boost”.
The “Enchanted Combat Boost” can be one of 4 types:
Strength Booster
Speed Booster
Armor Booster
Rejuvenation Booster
Another type is a Enchanted Reward Booster; it takes the following boosts and combines them into a single booster type:
Experience Booster
Magic Find Booster
Crafting Booster
Karma Booster
Gathering Booster
This basically allows you to stack different booster types in one inventory slot. When you use the “Enhanced Combat Booster”, or “Enchanted Reward Booster” you pick which boost you want and it imbues you with it directly.
So the Powder doesn’t really do anything by itself; you have to use it to turn your old/existing boosters into the new “combo” type boosters, which saves on inventory slots.
That’s why I always go to GW2Spidy and look up the item(s), then put them on the TP for a few copper less than the 1-day average selling price. Hardly ever have an item on the TP for more than 24 hours this way.
And yes, doing it this way there are many times when I will list an item for MORE than the current listing price, and yet still my items sell almost 100% of the time within 24 hours.
They didn’t have to add this feature at all you know. It could have been only buy items from the store with real money and no gems at all. No buying items with gold. Cold, hard cash for each and every single purchase. Guild Wars 1 had a store. No gems. Cash only. You want it, open up your wallet.
In fact, I think they would have been better not putting gems for gold in. People seem to get so entitled/outraged about it. Gems cost too much! People can buy gold with gems!
It never seems to be, oh good. I can get stuff for free (as no real world money) if I pay with gold.
YOU might be getting them for free, but SOMEBODY had to buy those Gems. That’s the beauty of the system.
Say, Customer #1 buys a Gem Card (800 Gems) because he needs mats to make a Legendary and doesn’t have the gold or the time to farm for them. He turns those Gems into Gold (Right now that would be about 60 gold).
Customer #2 wants an extra character slot, so he buys those 800 Gems with their gold. It costs them 82 gold.
So Customer #1 gets his mats, Customer #2 gets his character slot, AND 22 gold is removed from the economy.
The other way, Customer #2 would pay the $10 for the character slot, no gold is removed from the economy, and Customer #1 is stuck with no mats for his Legendary.
Either way you look at it, ANet gets their $10.
OK everyone. Listen up. There are some great items in the Gem Shop and you need them NOW! So get out your credit cards and start buying up Gems. You know you want to!!
That won’t affect the Gold -> Gem price. If someone buys $10 worth of gems (800 gems) and spends them in the cash shop (for say, an extra character slot), that doesn’t put any Gems into the economy, so the gold price would not be affected. It’s only when someone buys Gems and converts them to gold that the Gems are added to the Exchange.
Buy orders do not incur a listing fee, as buyers don’t pay any fees. Only the sellers do.
That’s probably because there was only 1 on the TP at that price, and this one (the 1700 one) was the next cheapest one. Just have to wait for some more to hit the TP.
At least give the option to store in bank…
There is.
Make a personal guild and use that bank.Well, if that’s all there is to it I’ll make a guild, but honestly having the old way to store in bank is much simpler.
Just be careful – if you ever decide to change servers, make sure you empty your guild bank first as it will NOT move with you.
keep it going Tolunart, tell people GW2 got the best economy in the game.
And how other game sucks.
Thanx for giving me permission to continue expressing my opinion on a subject. That really means a lot to me.
i’d like you to point me to the rift forum where people are complaining about flipping there.
Flipping in Rift is definitely done; they even have an addon (Called BananAH) that will automatically search their auction house for any items below a certain percentage of what the current resale value is (think of it like a built in GW2Spidy that searches the ENTIRE TP for items below what their current resale value is automatically) and it will list all those items allowing you to buy them and relist them.
But it IS a different economy. For one thing, all good gear is Soulbound, and is either from quest rewards, Raids, dungeons, or “Deeps Lock Boxes” purchased off their Gem Store. The stuff you pick up out in the world and can buy/sell/trade would be equivalent to our “Green” items.
As far as mats go though, people flip those all the time. The addon makes it so simply though, that pretty much anyone can do it (and many do).
