I find this update a very good thing since I prefer to party rather than run solo and i really love team play over solo play. The synergy and combination of interlaping traits, skills, etc. is just awesome.

This is a it should be versus randomly getting or not getting a boon from a zerg.

However, because of this the importance of partying is increased x100 versus having to just target a commander. Therefore the problem now is kicking offline party members versus remaking the party because it will take time to have to do it again and again and again.

Hot fix pls.

Yep, those builds are mere guildlines which will make a newbie in wvw survive. And as you use that tested build, you can then change it slowly to optimize your playstyle.

If you see you die a lot, is it because of lack of dodging or just feel paper under enemy?

If it’s the former, use sigil of energy, if it’s the latter, add toughness vitality gear or healing. And if you’re tanky but you can’t kill when in your team, you adjust your damage by changing traits or using prec power damage stats on some of the gear.


It was fun having all weapons and stats in the past, now I’m limited due to the ascended thingy (really disappointed by this). but hey, the only way to be the best is to grind.

No one is forced to change gears. The change is suggested. And more often than not, good guilds will help you get the suggested gear; so you will have more than one armor and weapon set now.

It’s like knowing which gear works best depending on the location. There is no one slash build for all things.

Well you can use one build, but it will not be optimal all the time.

Ex. when i fight squishes, I change my trait distribution. And if I fight a huge zerg, I include endure pain in my utilities, and change to signet of healing.

You must adapt. Even t1 players are pretty easy to kill if you take the trait and gear to the mix. Also using the brain – using siege over just pure openfield.

The problem is not many seek to take advantage of combo fields. Some just enjoy the art of skill spamming. If you seek synergy and team compatibility, there’s so much a balanced composition could do rather than pure something.

And the ranger has one of the longest waterfields there is. I’d rather have that in my team than any other fields.

lag happens since multiple players gathering together don’t necessarily have the same connection speed, and the data from player’s comp to anet’s server and back to palyers comp, multiplied to how many players there are around the area will definitely cause lag.

Not much we can do about that. This isn’t a lan game afterall.

Rangers are awesome. They have good waterfields, blast finishers, irritating pets, and extremely agile. It’s simply knowing your place in the battlefield.

Simple, think combo fields/blast finishers and where your class fits in that area.

I find this to be a good build when running as a zerg warrior. I’ve used this effectively against t1 servers where my team is always outmanned, outgunned, and outcovered. But, that didn’t stop us from killing them every now and then.

GS for anything outside of roaming is really bad idea.

I did not make a gs build. I think perhaps you are replying to the wrong post. ^.^

When I was fully commanding and still working to win in the old days, some of the things my troop has done.

1. Maintain a strong bond in the community outside of gw2. Meaning we can call each other by phone when we are lacking players.

2. Alliances with other servers. This we kept in the down low so our server wouldn’t know that we’re actually in cahoots with the other team, where we would focus on only one enemy the whole week.

3. Send spies to the other server to recruit their top guilds whom we see playing well in wvw. Thus, we would buy off 15 ppl of that guild, and hopefully the rest would join us.

4. We would have commanders lead in the lowbie areas to help new players and they in turn would join our wvw team.

5. Roleplay in the means of this is what we have to offer. If you like it, come and join us.

It is a valid tactic best done by heads of servers who coordinate things properly, or those who has the say in the community.

It worked well for us in the past (not tarnished coast my new server). It is one way to ensure you and your friend server is top 1 and top 2.

But this is not easy because you have to know how to be sociable and you have to keep secrets from your player base or those whom you command. ;3

To make people stay in a server, other than buying them off, one must ensure the community is stable. The needs of the players are met. And playing there is fun. I believe only through these three you can ensure a stable server player base, especially for WVW.

I doubt it was Devon who destroyed your community.

No matter what you do, if you get stomped every single week for 7 weeks, you will lose a large number of players — WvW players to other servers, PvE players to PvE — because the “playing there is fun” part will fail for these players.

Devon (who represents the devs) will have destroyed the community because it is his (their) idea to implement these Leagues even though every single player knows the outcome is determined before the matches even begin.

I appreciate your rage since I too am a wvw player and I would have hoped my server had loyalistas rather than players who will jump ship when the going gets hard. But in the end of the day, do not take it personal. Else, you will not enjoy the game.

But if you still want to be competitive, got to recruit and train, and take care of your community. And if you have suggestions, make your voice be heard and those who support your idea, type out; so they will be heard too. Because these developers don’t know anything that goes on deeper within the community and they have no clue how to develop long term client base. You should continue to give feedback; so they may be better able to help you.

And if you find the game to be a bore, where it no longer caters your hobbies, simply rethink your reason for playing the game.

Simply, what people seek is a way to move WVW to a balanced situation. How? Control the population per bl 1-3x a day, where it will change depending on the mean of adding the number of players in all three servers queuing for wvw.

It will ensure more people are distributed into different borderlands.

That might actually work. But the only thing I wonder about:

  • High population server: won’t most people there be unable to enter?

I agree that it’s their own fault for stacking up on a server, but still. It would lead to a huge rage-wave. Personally:

  • I refrain from going into WvW when we beat the other servers 2 to 1.
  • I refrain from going into WvW when we get beaten by other servers 2 to 1.

So I think making the numbers balanced would encourage more people to play WvW again, because right now there isn’t any challenge involved… and there would be when it’s equal numbers!!

Lets see if the devs pay this any attention!

Haha, well I’m fine with that sort of price. :P

Since this is purely hypothetical, assuming it will happen, simply allow a one week free transfer to any and all server, and see if people transfer. Else, if they don’t, they simply have to face the consequence.

The other option is to add an overflow instance in wvw where players can duke it out, and kill each other, w/o armor damage/or affecting ppt while waiting. But can farm things like mobs in it like normal.

1. I would fix the party system
2. I would fix the wxp to limit up to 100 rank points, but continue the leveling for bonus chests, and it will be retraitable, and the required points per skill will not be chosen carefully like what we do with our traits.
3. I will lessen the required laurel for ascendeds, and add ascended weapons unto the mix of what you can get in wvw weapons seller
4. The outmanned buff will give stat points similar to the blood node.
5. I will add a gvg instance in the middle of the map w/c is a similar to the bl but has no structures but only starting 3 sides, and is pk friendly and has no damage to armor upon death.
6. i will add exp and karma for walking a dolyak
7. i will test such in a week, and if it doesn’t work as intended seek opinions in the forum and change it accordingly based on a poll. and i will assure my gamers that this is your game, i will do my best to ensure you enjoy it.

I find wvw now is okay. I do not mind sieges and all that jazz, since that is what wvw is. It is an everything go area. But it is an expensive area, which is why people QQ when the other team uses superior sieges. And QQ if they lack in population coverage because the other team has more. And QQ if the other team has more tanky builds than their pve rallybots.

I have a guardian and a warrior. I enjoy using both as my main. Seeing that video, my opinion on the matter didn’t change. You can do that too if you wish with either warrior or guardian as long as you practice.

There is no magic formula which will make you a pk king. It’s all about practice, practice, and practice.

armor knights – rune of lysa
berserker/cavalier/valkyrie trinkets infused with your stat of choice for fractals
weapons berserker/valyrie (sigil of fire/perception/force/energy/battle)

This is what I use for fractals. Pretty decent and kills fast with your trait distribution. (though I normally run 0/0/10/30/30 now)

I want to find a good class that can easily dish out high damage and hopefully survive against a pack of mobs in PVE and WvW. So basically right now I’m torn between Warrior or Elementalists. Any suggestions?

In what way do you wish to improve your character? As it is now, it is still viable and will work in all areas of the game. But if you want to improve, if you’re specific on that area, we can comment in it more properly.

Like some of those mention above will work wonders in pvp, dungeon, or fractals but will be a rally bot in wvw, or will be a dead build in pvp.

the question is are all servers the same – I saw the outmanned buff come on with about 30 people transferring to borderlands at once following a commander. I had to que to get in Eternal, and there was zero ques in borderlands all of which had outmanned buffs.

I think all three borderlands are the same except for eternal battlegrounds since the map is bigger and there are more targets here. But I might have guessed on the EB part. I find it is safe to say the map cap is near 100, give or take where if it reaches that number someone in WVW is kicked, and or the player with the least comp spec crashes.

We shouldn’t alienate our players who choose to play at certain times only. Because we cannot compel them to join if they do not wish to do so at hard times. So, we can only set the stage for them to enjoy and hopefully participate longer than usual when they are available. >3<

Why i'm i so squishy ?

I leveled my warrior using sword warhorn and riffle from level 2 to 80 and used all the weapons to ensure that I’ve opened them. I found that unlike other mmos, gw2 required us to use kiting and dodging into our strategy. As long as you have observed how your character reacts to the enemy and how the enemy reacts to you, simply use dodge to avoid the painful hits, and level up accordingly. I found doing lowbie events the best, and playing with my mates on other things; so they can tank for me.

WXP for laurels is not alt friendly

You mustn’t use your laurel for wxp. I find it a very big waste, and it is easier to grind for it where you’d eventually level up atleast 2 x a day if you’re a casual player like me.

Use your laurel for wvw infusions instead. Or ascended trinkets.

Take out wxp (best), or account wide rank would be the (2nd best) or an alternative is, which I support, you can only get rank points up to a certain level, like 1-100, and the rest – will only provide the award chests, and retraitable rank points, just like our character traits, which we only have 70 points to spend for our builds.
