Ghost eater can be a troll and not properly los on the pillar. We burned rushes into the pillar the other day and they didnt hit it because it decided to stop on the edge. So I can see how a wipe can happen with 4 fgs’s seeing as it almost happened to us xD.

Upcoming Sigil change and Fast Hands

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Spoj The Second.7680

Spoj The Second.7680

You do realise they said sigils of the exact same kind will still share an icd. So 2 energy sigils will share the 9 second cooldown. This means no matter how many energy sigils you equip on warrior you will only get 1 proc every 9 seconds.

No, there is a difference.

Warrior with fast hands:
0s: swap to energy sigil
5s: swap out of energy sigil
10s: swap to energy sigil

2 times proc in 10s.

No fast hands:
0s: swap to energy sigil
10s: swap out of energy sigil
20s swap to energy sigil

2 times proc in 20s.

Big difference in my opinion. Unless the sigils only start its cooldown when swapped out, then I will agree with you.

This is exactly how it is already right now. Its not an imbalance because of sigils. Its just a really strong trait. Some classes have to equip an energy sigil on each weaponset, warriors dont. Eles and engis dont have to either, atleast the warrior has to trait for it.

There is if you dont have a class which can pull like that. As he will spit at you anyway without a cc pull. So you may aswell los him. When we do ac we pretty much only use eles, warrior and ranger so its easier to just get the warrior to bait out the spit and pull him into the trap. Then you may aswell let him walk a few metres more behind the pillar for a 1second fgs kill.

Lupi grub is the only one i can think of which isnt obvious you should dodge it. And its an attack which isnt even essential to dodge anyway so its not an issue. Lupi is the only boss I have learnt tells through videos. Everything else I learnt by watching for unique animations while playing. Some brief trial and error to perfect timing and know exactly what to dodge, but not enough to say it was bad design.

Better if said warnings appear as large flashing text in front of their screens consisting of no more than two words and an exclamation “Drink Potion!”, “Dodge Now!”, “No Conditions!”

Because players are becoming too impatient (and possibly lazy) to read a long string of text on their right.

Would it really be bad if a message popped up that clearly said “Condition reflected” every single time you used a condition on one of the Knights?

I can’t really think of a good reason why not.

You would be spammed by onscreen text thanks to passive conditions like vuln and bleed on crit. So no thanks.

If we move towards challenges that don’t really require combat, I’m afraid they would soon become one-dimensional. Since the challenge would basically be the same for these encounters: jump on time/jump far enough/craft as fast as you can. Whereas combat can have more depth, because we have more options available. Combat is what we build our characters for, why we spend a lot of time tweaking builds, finding whatever gear and build suits us best. Fractals is the place where combat becomes the most difficult. High level fractals are the place to be for combat enthousiasts.

There is a place for one-try puzzles though. We already have them in guild missions, bounties and puzzles. I just don’t think that fractals is the right place for them.

Agree with this so much. This is one of the biggest issues i have with the new fractals and the aether path. Too many puzzles. They shouldnt be in dungeons/fractals. Puzzle mechanics in fights are fine (seals on cliffside, agony rotating walls in aetherblade, buckets in dredge, collapsing floor in thaumanova atc). But the pure puzzles within fights without using combat and inbetween fights are just boring (barrage phases in mai trin, weapon test in molten, various puzzles in aether fractal and aetherpath in TA). If a combat element was added which allowed the speeding up of these timegated puzzles then I wouldnt have a problem with them.

It would be impossible to put an aoe marker on kholers attack seeing as its a melee grapple spin. And the tell is fine. Its a huge windup attack. Its even more obvious than the tells in that video link you posted. The issue isnt the tell, its the fact that they still havent addressed particle effect clutter in pve. Almost every boss has very clear tells, especially on the bigger attacks. The issue is that on some smaller bosses they can be completely covered in the particle effect mess. The more subtle tells add difficulty and make you really pay attention which i think is a good thing.

TL;DR – Subtle tells are good, they make things interesting. Particle effects need to be reduced.

You might not have 100% crit chance with my build. But you can still aoe burst with wells + DS. If you have precision food and perception stacks you should have about 90% crit chance due to the fury procing as you enter DS. If you have a warrior bringing banner of disc there is no issue at all. So basically your aoe burst is just as good in optimal situations but you lack some crit chance in others. Its still good enough though.

Well both classes have some situational nice stuff for fractals. I wouldnt really say one is better than the other. They both have flaws. Fractals is the one place where necro can actually be semi useful compared to their dungeon performance. I just dont like the idea of being forced to use gs on ranger.

I think in a proper pve setting. Beserker scepter would still kill faster than rabid. Not sure though.

Btw there is no different power scaling on different weapons. They all scale the same. The only difference is base damage. Scepter has low base damage due to the conditions it applies and the fact that its ranged. Which means more of the damage is from the condi portion which is why its not great for beserker builds. I guess thats what you mean by power scaling, but thats a misleading way to refer to it.

You’d think people would realise the events fail so often because 90% of them have trash dps. But nope, just keep spamming that low dps ranged auto attack with clerics gear. Its really contributing to getting the boss done.

@Orpheal

It really cant though. Why is that most players sit around in open world all the time? Because dungeons and fractals are too hard for them or they dont enjoy instanced group content. It makes no sense to put excessive amounts of lore in an area where the players who like challenging instanced content is dont care about it. And the players that want that lore would barely ever experience it. They would visit fractals once to get their lore fix and then never visit again. You cannot infect every aspect of the game with the wants of casual players. It doesnt work. You shouldnt lock away lore in an area of the game that many players who enjoy lore will not visit.

You can put lore into fractals, I dont mind that. But if it ruins replayability and brings down the challenge then im not going to be happy.

In fairness some bosses are less predictable than players (RNG on boss attacks). But even so, you can learn what to do for every single attack a boss has so that unpredictability becomes unimportant after a certain point. With pvp its usually fairly obvious what most players are doing. Occasionally you will fight someone who can actually trick you, but really everything can be predicted with the right thought process.

Back when i played FPS games. I got to a point where i could predict what players were going to do 95% of the time so it just came down to either me winning out no problems or if they could predict me aswell then it was just who had the better aim.

#magswag – I think we are officially tier 2 now.

At any rate, I understand the defensiveness of PVE players in this situation. So often PvP players scoff and down-play any sort of achievement in PvE because it is mostly scripted, and easily “trained” for.

That said…. I spent at least 1 hour in a 40+ factal last night getting face-rolled by the Molten-Duo with a sub-optimal party and pugs. Conditions for the lose.

All PvE isn’t easy, it just is much more controlled, and if you understand it right, cannot surprise you the way a WvW engagement can. The majority of WvW is just running around spamming skills in a blob bigger than your opposing blob for the average player.

Sure there are tactics, and ways in which you can beat a larger group with a smaller group, but that has less to do with individual skill and more to do with positioning, build, preperation, and driving. But those sort of tactics come into play a lot less often than is necessary, as numbers are still by and large the prevailing “win” factor.

You are probably one of the only pvp players that doesnt discredit pve challenge, so I have utmost respect for you.

That being said ive seen countless “top” pvp’ers venture into pve and use terrible builds, do stupid stuff and then claim “it doesnt matter pve is easy I dont need to change how i play”. Whereas when top pve players venture into pvp, we certainly dont take that kind of approach. We use what is effective in the gametype. We understand the differences and we understand how to theorycraft properly. I notice a lot of pvpers just follow builds blindly and have no clue at why the pick those builds.

Obviously being a top top pvp player requires skill. But as you said the entry level is a lot lower in pvp and even the very best in pvp often have such a close minded mindset its a miracle that they can actually perform the way they do with such ignorance.

Thats just my opinion on it. By the way, im pretty terrible at pvp. It doesnt interest me so I have very little experience on how to play it. But if I really got into it I dont think it would be that hard to make it to top 100. The game seems to be more about composition, communication and teamwork. Skill is kind of second place.

Can we please avoid turning fractals into a living story portal. Its supposed to be endgame content for those of us who like challenging content. Adding lore is fine but I dont think it should be the main focus of fractals. Lore and rolling are not important for the future of fractals. Rewards, balance and challenge are what will decide whether fractals remains popular.

Many of the people asking for lore are players that barely step foot in fractals and if they got what they wanted id bet my socks off they would still barely set foot in fractals. Plus you would drive more regular fractal players away if you keep tailoring to these players needs. The regular and loyal fractal players are not in it for one time lore stories and easy dailies and that means they are in it for fun, challenging, rewarding and replayable content.

Well I have nothing more to give on that thread since chris said he understands our thoughts on rewards, dredge, rolling and leaderboards. Thats pretty much all I care about. And thats pretty much all there is to it. The only other thing is new challenging progression. Fractals is not a living story portal and I dont like that lots of casual players that never do fractals are trying to force that. If they succeed, I guarantee they still wont do fractals more than once and that will just be to experience the lore.

I brought a very new guardian into a couple dungeons today, he was quite good. He didn’t have problems with the skipping and stacking we did, because before we went in he said he had never been able to finish a single dungeon path before in pugs. I think he appreciated the 15 minute TA up (yeah I know could be faster) and the cof path 2. We even had a ranger in our group. What.

Nice to hear that not every new player is jumping on the “puberty train”.

That said, it often makes me wonder wether these kittenposters on the forum are trolling or if they’re actually serious about the bullkitten they spout out. Or to put it in another way, wether they are just pretending to be kittened or indeed kittened.

I suspect most of them have barely done any dungeons. If they did do them regularly, they would of switched to meta tactics long ago. Since their play how you want, no skipping, no stacking runs are probably too long and frustrating to stomach on a regular basis even for the most anti “exploit” player.
