Is it possible to have the option to manually select the guild for a record? Would be handy for records that have members in multiple guilds but its clearly stated the record is done by a certain guild.

It’s September I think. I went to my shop, to pre-order the best edition (and knowing Anet a limited amount of collector’s edition will have beta access. Seeing my shop had only TWO copies before launch (beta access), i was really frustrated. So to prevent this I went to the shop.

Heart of Thorns was not in their computer yet he said, but then he look somewhere else I suppose cause he was looking, reading some info about it and said ‘aha, yes it’s that title that’ probably due for september’. Didnt ask further where he got his info, but hey he’s a game only shopkeeper… He has to has some inside info. So here you go, I shared it.

I doubt hes referring to the correct game. :P

They said it varied per specialisation. So some classes might get complete class mechanic reworks others might get alterations. Theres no guarantee that we keep DS.

Simply focus 4 is always a dps increase. And warhorn 5 provides a gradual dps increase.

Dagger offhand doesnt really give a dps increase over auto attack. But you can use it as a blind or an aoe tagger i suppose. Also the weakness might be handy in some situations. Generally its a poor choice over warhorn or focus though.

Condition necro is fine. Doesnt really need any help. The only thing that would bring condi necro on the same level as engi and warrior in terms of damage is perma burn.

Even if greatsword did end up being a condi weapon. I doubt it would be better than scepter dagger. So its a wasted opportunity to not go down the helping PvE side.

I dont really have any ideas. I just hope its not Death Knight. Really dislike that name. Sounds so childish. x)

Wait so Dungeons and Dragons are childish now, because they also have Death Knights originally in fact.

Truth be told, the only reason people are tripping about the name Death Knight was because WoW has a class by the name… We saw this same argument going on when pre-release the Guardian class pic was leaked. People screamed for it to be called anything but Paladin, simply because WoW has a class with that name. Ignoring that WoW also has a class called Warrior as well…

No it has nothing to do with WoW or D&D. Even with WoW i thought it was a stupid name. Its so uncreative and boring. It is literally something a child could come up with. Which is why i said its childish. I much prefer unusual original names. Not something pieced together from a description.

Colin Johanson: I think from a feature perspective, the core fundamental features that make up Heart of Thorns, we talked about today. We were maybe intentionally vague when we didn’t talk about what types of content you’re going to experience specifically in the jungle, but the most important messages we want people to take from today are that you’re going to be able to explore a new area, and we know that Guild Wars 2 needs more challenging encounters and more challenging group encounters, and it needs extremely challenging encounters for groups to build up to and defeat. We’re going to be providing all of that with our Heart of Thorns experience.

PS: Colin, just using the kittening word “dungeon”. Please. Please. Please.

I believe they are intentionally avoiding that word because even if they introduced instanced content. They dont want to use the same design as our classic dungeons. So we may get new types of instanced content. Maybe elite zones or instanced bosses.

Id rather avoid more places becoming champ farm maps. So i actually prefer the no loot system. At least for open world stuff.

SW is a champ farm map. It’s just farming events for the shovels to get to the champ bags. It’s actually much much faster champ farm than any other one before it. I’ve gotten more champ bags in one hour there than I ever had at FG or QD for the same hour.

That being said, my 240%+ MF is being wasted there because mobs barely drop any loot…

Yeah but there is plenty of good reasons not to chest farm. And many maps that dont. Also when i want to avoid champ farms i mean like the FGS one. Where people intentionally take forever to kill the ice shamans. That was not fun when i just wanted to run an alt through the LS. Had to wait 20 mins on that event because of all the farmers. Funny thing is they could have made more money just by doing SE p1/p3 champ farm and they wouldnt have bothered others.

I predict early April-May. Any longer and they will struggle with filler content in the wait for HoT. Plus a demo in 6 weeks suggests its almost ready to put out.

A demo would suggest nothing in my eyes

A demo suggests its in a playable form. As in its mostly done. With only bug fixes and minor additions to go. This has been worked on since release. Not sure why people believe they would announce it over half a year before its ready.

Yeah. But some non damaging skills remove stacks aswell. For example if you cast guardians shelter heal it removes a stack. Its odd. basically just spam as many fast casting abilities as u can or just auto attack.

Well yeah but its not forced behind grind (what they have claimed). And some of it may be optional. As in it only makes it easier. Even if its some gating. Its still better than agony. Also seems a lot of the mastery points are awarded through challenging content. So thats something we should be happy about. It means only average players should be able to progress to some areas.

Necro’s Life Transfer also works to get a lot of hits in on the Shaman’s shield.

It only removes 1 stack. Shield stacks are removed 1 per ability. Multi hit attacks dont remove any extra. This is a common mistake many people make.

The way he phrases that worries me. " If you haven’t played the jungle and you haven’t built up your character, you’re not going to beat that content." Sounds like good ol’ gear treadmill type thing.

That’s what’s so great about GW2 is that for the most part you can jump right into whatever you want. This sounds like i’m going to have to do a ton of map completion on all my characters to get them to where I can play the actual fun content.

We’ll see how it goes, but if it’s “difficult” because I need some trinketX because the mechanics just say so… it’ll be quite disappointing.

The way i took it was that going through the jungle teaches you how to deal with various new mechanics. So you are prepared for the complex encounters with a mix of all the previous stuff you went through. Kind of like how they did the hidden arcana LS instance where they taught you the different puzzles one by one and then put them all together. But then again i might just be being overly optimistic.

Bit even that doesnt guarantee future fights will be very reflex based with much larger skill pools on enemies. Which is a sure fire way to retain difficulty even when the player has the sufficient knowledge for the encounter.

Btw some masteries are combat based. Taken from the HoT page:

“We’re reimagining progression with our new Mastery system. Explore new training opportunities for your character beyond level 80 and master abilities like hang gliding in the jungle, tearing the bark off of heavily armored Mordrem, or building new collections that earn precursors to a legendary weapon.”

These kind of things are the stuff i expect to be needed to complete difficult encounters. And they may just be things to make it easier. We may be able to work around them via other more difficult methods. So we could end up making things more challenging for ourselves by not using these.

They deleted the BL subforum but they didnt get rid of the TP. I think they just wanted all PvE in general. I wouldnt read into it too much.

Secondary professions werent permanent in GW1.

These things were confirmed with the devs at PAX at the after party. I doubt people made them up.

Theres no logical reason for it to be permanent when trait choices arent permanent. Plus it was confirmed at the Q&A after party.

The skepticism comes from the fact that they announced they werent working on any dungeons a while back. And that raids could easily be open world bosses. Im remaining hopeful. But i dont blame others for having doubts.

Yeah necros arent terrible in that fight either. Blinds work on the adds and you can chill and immob the shaman plenty (dark path unblockable). Also minion arrow baits. Although i would personally stock up on 3 wells for every necro.

They didnt say “only”. They said we are going into the jungle and getting 3 biomes. That doesnt mean we wont get 1 or 2 extra zones elsewhere. Although I wouldnt bet on it obviously.

I just outlined several lore reasons to go there. Obviously the storyline would probably involve going to the jungle first but we might come out and then go back in. Not sure why people believe the story is going to be completely linear. It never has been. Even in the LS we have gone to other zones and then gone back to dry top / silverwastes.

No one knows, but it’s safe to say we’re not getting the Crystal Desert. Why would anyone think we were getting it?

To find info about the forgotten/glint? To become ascended? Theres pretty big lore reasons to go there for the storyline. And they didnt explicitly say we are only going into the jungle. So we might get a few extra zones in other directions.

I am half tempted to go full purple and get Vision of the mists. Ive already got 2 characters that are purple (warrior and mesmer). Whats the harm in one more? It matches my mordrem backpiece atleast.

Doesnt matter if most people cant pull off optimal dps all the time. They are certainly going to get closer with proper builds, compositions and attempted rotations. Which is why people create group restrictions and blacklist certain classes.

It doesnt make sense to me to say theres no point not letting in a necro just because most eles cant pull off icebow manipulations. You are still going to get a much better result with the less than optimal ele than you are with the necro. Simply because those might stacks and burst aoes are just so valuable even when not used completely correctly.

Day 1 Revenant: Level 1 or Level 80?

Considering how terrible the NPE is im going to be lvling using tomes and scrolls as much as possible. Unfortunately i dont have that many tomes so i will probably only get to about lvl 40.

You can learn a class fine at lvl 80. You just have to actually read and try out the skills. :P

Really, with the exception of the portion of the PS between level 70 and 80 that they screwed up, which they’re fixing, the NPE is no where near as bad as most make it out to be. I’m on my second go through with it and I can still level up just the way I did before for the most part, it doesn’t crimp my style at all.

Well as someone who has played since beta. I find not having access to so many things incredibly frustrating.

Also the new trait scavenging thing for new characters is hell for someone like me. It might of been fun at game release. But now i have no desire to do more exploration for alts to get their traits (Ive done 2 map completions and the 2nd was boring and very forced). I struggle to have the skill point scrolls to just flat out buy them. A couple of my less played 80’s still dont have all their new grandmaster traits. And my 2 newest characters which were created after the NPE was introduced have only the traits i needed. If it was something for first time characters or something vets could opt out of for alts i wouldnt mind so much.

Well a new debuff which increases damage is technically in the same line as homogenizing us to the standard. We would fit in the non selfish meta that way. x)

I dont really mind how they do it. As long as we become less selfish in terms of utility, buffs or debuffs. And have a distinct advantage over other classes in one of those areas.

My point is argueing about the use of abilities on such easy content which is entirely dependant on things out of the individuals control is a pretty pointless. You can play completely uselessly and still suceed at those events. Its not an arguement. I dont even know why im argueing about this.

You said those weapons werent mobile. They clearly are as they have mobility skills. Which can be used for map traveling or combat situations such as evading attacks, gap closing or combat mobility in difficult fights (kiting to recover endurance etc). Whether you see a use or not in whatever content you play is irrelevant. They are mobile weapons and you cant deny that.

Thats not true for gs 3. :P

Anyway calling Tequatl and Wurm as endgame content is pretty laughable. The real challenge in those encounters is filtering the maps to people who listen. Everything else is hardly a challenge when people have even semi decent knowledge.

Everything is viable and hammer is far from good but its still viable. Your arguement doesnt really make sense. They are mobility skills. Whether you use them in all combat situations is irrelevant. They make the class mobile.

Also you would use gs 4 aswell. Its a dps increase on anything that isnt against a wall. You would also use 5 if it worked properly on world bosses. GS 3 should also be used. Sounds like you just dont really understand the warrior or how to play it in different types of encounters. :P
