pagefile should not be disabled, its place is best on an SSD and there are far less random writes to a pagefile then there are to the system profile data (ntuser.dat, and system hives).

you might need abit more juice on the VCCIO with ram clockrates over 1600.

thats because you don’t really understand the backend improvements that DX11 could bring in terms of cpu utilisation and how it could improve gpu usage and framerates on lower end systems…..

overclocking the memory of the system won’t really provide that big an increase in gaming.

the only instruction set that has shown to quickly get bottlenecked by 1600MHz dram so far is AVX, and only when trying to overclock past 5Ghz

on paper, and limited review demonstrations, the i3 does seem to only be slightly better.

Once you actually start to make use of its capabilities on the other hand, then things change, and the increase can it as much as triple in some specific usages.

Primarily, the constraint is on your cpu. As games get denser with geometry, smoke, fog, shadows, so to does the amount of batching that occurs. One of the inflexibilities is that batching is/was something that could not be easily multithreaded (this has changed with D3D11, but only for effects that can safely be deferred a few frames).

Alot of people misunderstand cpu’s, threading, etc. Even if your cpu isn’t at 100% load, the main threads (engine / physics / graphic) are usually sharing a core which is why a slower cpu can limit the Framerate and restrict the GPU usage when the Engine is processing alot, which is the case in this game.

Alot of people came to realise this with skyrim, prior to the 1.4 patch, as optimisations in the engine that should have been there, weren’t. So the gpu was recieving less data to process and there was a lower frame rate as a result.

after last patch i have so slow loading screens!

Theres an unusually high amount of single core cpu access by the gw2 process during these loading scenes, which could be a part of the problem.

If its a HD spec audio device, often the front panel (often labelled as the headphone jack) may only appear if “Show Disconnected Devices” is ticked in the right click context menu.

Sounds very much like Error Code 116 – better known as a inescapable TDR.

downgrade the drivers, and hope its just not a case of the graphics card randomly going bad.

Its incredible, even in a support job how many times you hear “since the last update, everythings slower” or “since the last update i have trouble going to the bathroom” etc.

This is a case of complete placebo. If your game is running slower when your cpu is overclocked, this means your CPU (or memory) is generating a LOT of errors or overheating.

I would suggest watching your temperatures, also make sure your memory isnt overclocked too far above spec, you may need to raise the voltage on your CPU/Memory to cope with the overclock. A game will never go

“If ( CPU = Overclocked ) Then Run.Slower” It’s just unfeasable to think so.

This, entirely, This^

Refraction and myself are both very familiar with overclocking, and the interesting behaviors a system can have if a certain components voltage is just a tad to low.

fwiw, the power saving mechanism for PCI-E linkstate involves the Transfer Rate and not the amount of channels. A PCI-E 2 or 3 device will appear as PCI-E 16x 1.1 when this state is entered.

the disabling of channels in a high end slot has not been rattified for anything below pci-e 3.0, and no pci-e 3 controller is known to implement it thus far.

User mode software cannot cause a system crash (unless its compiled with an unsafe compiler using very badly written ASM)

Go back to the basics and check everything starting with the bios configuration(Voltages and dram timings), Drivers(Sata, Video, Sound and Ethernet/Wlan)

Just a heads up, that Transparency Multisampling causes the framerate to plummet when zooming in and out of the map on Fermi and Kepler parts.

Prior Nvidia cards with TrMSAA support were not affected as they used a DX9 shader trick to perform TrMSAA while the Fermi and Kepler parts have implemented TrAA in hardware. (Which is why Fermi/Kepler can perform it on D3D10/11 as well when set from the driver)

“After looking at your Game Advisor, it appears that your drivers are from 2011. You will want to go to Nvidia’s site and get updated drivers for your card. These appear to be the 301.42 drivers released in May.”

Negative, he will want to get the 306.02 beta drivers as the 301 whql drivers and 306.23 drivers are prone to TDR’s, the latter being so bad it usually results in a Bsod: 116

Can’t blame the game for this, your system is unstable, very likely a driver issue if you updated to 306.23,
I have seen a number of people who updated to that driver getting inescapable TDR’s.
