directx 11 would certainly help by reducing CPU overhead that DirectX9’s state management causes.

Windows XP
found your problem.
return your 660 under warranty
up to date is 310.54
the 304/306 drivers lack several profile fields.
can you expand that File column to display the files it is reading
sorting by Write would also be better.
the game has not implemented the Xaudio COM function required for correcting the output device when the current device is lost.
when you unplug a headset from an intel HD enabled front panel, it counts as the device being lost, so only restarting the game will fix it atm.
those were inherited from the 310 drivers before it afaik, via profile changes.

deleting local.dat seems to clear up this problem
black screens on windows XP can be a result of running out of Paged Pool, which was very limited on NT5.
there is a way to increase this and possibly fix it on the steam support database
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5034-EIPV-6426
“958/8188
I don’t suppose that’s good, is it?”
no, actually thats pretty good. it means you have a good 3GB available before paging, which i would expect means you have 4GB of actual ram with 4GB of page file.
that should be plenty to finish the update in any case.
what is the computer doing when it appears to freeze on that file? open up the resource monitor from performance tab of task manager and look at the Disk usage tab of the new window that appears.

start the game with the -repair command line.

your gpus will be only made to do as much work as the CPU allows.
a 3570 @ 4.5ghz is not bottlenecking 2 670’s
sadly, in this game, a 3570 at 6Ghz will be bottlenecking 2 670’s.
post your hardware information for starters.
delete local.dat and give it one last try
even if it means waiting for 30 minutes on a loading screen.
if you’re that bent on using a 32bit os, patch the kernel to enable 36bit pae and hope your drivers are friendly with it.

install to a folder other than C:\Program Files (x86)
Thats disk space, as in HDD
I’m meaning Memory as in System RAM.
How much is the Commit value in task managers Performance tab.

its the authentication server timing out because of congestion (at anet’s end, or on a hub between you and them)

i hope that means you fixed it, in which case, good to hear
deleting local.dat would have also worked.
using the latest nvidia or amd beta drivers helps as well, if the nvidia d3d9 recompiler is working inefficiently it can cause the driver to use more cpu then necessary
Version = 8.17.0012.6744
Your drivers are very old, that number corresponds to Release 267.44 which was released in july 2011 by Toshiba.
this driver has no profile or optimisations / fixes for guild wars 2
I assume your laptop is a toshiba satellite, so the official nvidia Verde drivers will install.

do you have sufficient memory free to complete the update?
the updates used an advanced form of delta type patching, which requires large chunks of memory to perform the comparison and import.
AMD cards allways beats Nvidia cards at higher res gaming cuz of the memory bus/bandwith,
False.
The last 3 generations of nvidia gfx card have alwas had the highest peak framebuffer performance in the high end segment
This generation also includes a high bandwidth midend (660ti) as well
AMD only implemented 384bit memory interfaces recently with the 7900 series
GW2 uses a lot of bus bandwith,
False, GW2 does not even saturate a 550ti’s memory controller at 1920×1200, so unless you’re throwing 4k res at a 580/680, framebuffer is NOT the problem.
AMD cards will perform a lot better, actually High end AMD cards are allways better at higher res/details pretty much at any title that isn’t sponsored by nvidia
Fanboys can vacate the thread that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The real problem has a number of prime causes
one, is that GW2 uses unoptimised software culling techniques which forces cpu usage up, starving the gpu to a degree and, two, current WHQL nvidia drivers are not efficiently optimised for the game resulting in an inefficient machine code being generated by the nv d3d9 recompiler.
another reason for framedrops where gpu usage drops while cpu usage remains the same is trying to use Transparency Multisampling, however i only really experienced that on the full screen map when zooming in and out.

its a symptom of the authentication server not responding in the given time frame.

just exploring around the island and NONE of the karma vendors are present where they should be.
you need a better processor the buldozer chips are terrible for gaming.
Actually its Not the BD chip he’s using, BDs are usually bad when it comes to Single threaded apps, GW2 is by no means single threaded, it does use roughly 2.5-3 cores max. How ever because the game is so poorly optimized, mainly its rendering engine, that it even has issues on systems with I7s and GTX 680s and HD7970s.
Bulldozer is bad no matter what level of threading you use.

Just had this for the very first time, following the new build release.
They’ve already posted on twitter that they are addressing the problem.
Guild Wars 2 ?@GuildWars2If you’re having a problem with lag, try map traveling out of Lion’s Arch, then back in. ~RB2

heh, don’t worry guys, the event is so far unplayable due to lag.
more targets is censored to mokittengets (because of re tar)

“3) ‘Coin Flunk.3024’ means nothing to me and i’m likely to forget it”
This is unlikely, as its not used to sign in anywhere (the email is) and shows up on the forums and in game (which you log into with said email)
No problems with LGS 8.3+
if you’re using an older version, its probably being flagged as an uncertified application.
Disabling authentication via the Account Recovery page is BROKEN
might want to fix that……..
Squall Leonhart.2075 – I have tried to change the VCCIO voltage but my BIOS does not allow this, the option is greyed out.
you would have to enable manual tuning in the bios.
provokes a RAM errors in dual- and quad-channel modes. I have spent a month to solve my issues on this.
No.
its “Max Pre-Rendered Frames” in NVCP.
JamieK, i did say start your own.
If you find a solution, by all means post it. But the point is, all issues should be treated as individually as possible because they don’t all have the same cause. Cluttering a thread with a bunch of me too’s does not do anything towards resolving the issue.
Yeah, i saw 9400M where he wrote 9400GT, so not a laptop
the virtual address crash is valid however.
This is the display driver timing out and resetting
you’ll need to work your way through google to figure out why
JamieK, don’t hijack this thread, start your own.
Jamie, different issue, find another thread to hijack
Xinlinger, good advice, but not applicable in this case.

Heat is rarely the cause.
It was a market rigging that appeared to throw the price/performance in amd’s favour.
Part of the problem, and one i just furthered myself here, is that people were comparing the i7 cores with the Phenom II cores, when they were usually outperformed by a cheaper i5. AMD’s marketting attempted to place the phenom cores in the same tier as the i7’s, which no amount of benchmarking could advocate them as such which only confused the cpu market and rigged the performance / price ratio in amd’s favour
Another problem is many people still buy based on clockrate, which didn’t help those not realising that the phenom II’s were usually beaten to death by the i5’s, while the latter chip often had a lower clock speed.
when the cheaper i7 860 came out, it beat the crap out of the 965 and forced amd do rearrange their pricing
Then the i5 750 launched……
the i5 750 could be had for 150
the phenom II 965 was still well over 200 at the time
Not only does the Core i5-750 outperform its like-priced would-be competitor, the Phenom II X4 955, but it also beats out the Phenom II X4 965 overall.
an article has been written here by someone else, who like me, actually did the numbers.

antibot implementation is my guess
unless its the case of a rebrand, where a 550m ends up being a 640 or 630m
a crash in Module: MSIMG32.dll should never happen.
Check and update windows completely via windows update, check the disk for errors, check for updated sata drivers.
Finally, IntelBurn Test to check for faulty memory or cpu/cache.
raise task manager
click the show all processes button
File > Run | SFC /scannow
tick Run as administrator box
Click OK
Before this error happened, my game had suddenly started to intermittently freeze, and my pc reset.
My opinion, is its a failing hard drive. Weakening magnetic sectors would lead to random corruption of files that are normally only read from.
