The GeForce 9600 GT in my computer does not support DirectX 11
Its a Direct3D 10 device, which has support for Direct3D11 via Feature Level 10. (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ff476872%28v=vs.85%29.aspx)
Does GW2 require DirectX 11?
No – We wish.
Is this likely to be causing my computer to crash while running GW2?
No, Bsods are the result of an unstable computer either because of the software(kerne\device drivers), but more frequently because of the hardware state (Faulty or misconfigured hardware)
If this is the likely cause of the crashes and if GW2 does not require DirectX 11, can somebody point me in the right direction to go back to an older version of DirectX?
DirectX upgrades are one way, and 7 included Dx11 from day 1.
well, nvm, i looked into those padlocks and it just means the files are private but that folder has sharing enables
Hybrid boot has its own issues, 8 is not worth the frustration learning its new annoying interface when you can just standby and only shut down for updates.
i’ll just check what the updates on the 13th actually changed
GAMES WILL NOT CAUSE A TOTAL SYSTEM RESTART.
unless your system is already operating in a dangerous state (close to critical temperature), or under powered (failing or underspec power supply), or just operating in a faulty configuration (bad bios settings or drivers / faulty hardware)
just contact support, its already obvious from your login attempt data that you’ve been hacked.
contact support, you won’t get assistance here.
it does not restore all settings, but most of them.
Stuck keys is known to occur on some logitech keyboards, and it can usually be resolved by increasing the systems ICH/PCH voltage slightly.
check your gpu fan is spinning

the client hasn’t changed at all, so its not that…
probably just having a day with few people on
Are you absolutely sure the game is running from the Geforce chip, and not the Intel chip?

what is the framerate when vsynced?
not really, the 4870 had bugs in its drivers that caused higher than normal cpu load.
those padlocks on the icons look like your current account doesn’t have permission to make changes to them.
maybe thats your problem?

Coil or inductor whine, use vsync to limit the frame rate.
Well, regardless, Ocelots issue was the Lane state wasn’t scaling up to 16x (actually scaling up the lanes isn’t a PCIE 2.0 spec feature, its actually from 3.0 but some dodgy mainboard vendors added it to their 2.0 boards) which was causing his performance issues.
That would imply your crash is a hardware issue rather then unstable software.
what operating system are you using (actually i suggest moving to a new thread Kherza, op’s issue is possibly caused by XP itself)
userprofile\Documents\Guild Wars 2\ArenaNet.log on Vista and 7
attaching the entire crash log would be a start, it gives a great deal of information on the OS, Hardware and crash cause.
Is SMAA Injector safe to use with GW2?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Squall Leonhart.2075
The issue is MSAA and games increasingly using deferred renderers. In case you didn’t know it yet, deferred renderers do not work with MSAA.
Under Direct3D9, this is true
Under Direct3D 10.1 and 11, not so much.
post the rest of the log
set “triple-buffer” to “on” – Doesn’t affect Direct3D
set “multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration” to “single-display performance mode” – Doesn’t affect Direct3D
set "texture filtering – anisotrpic sample optimization to “on” – Can cause texture corruption
set “texture filtering – negative LOD bias” to “allow” – Doesn’t affect Direct3D
set “texture filtering – quality” to “performance” – Can cause performance drops
set “texture filtering – trilinear optimization” to “on” – No point, since it doesn’t do anything unless Trilinear is used
set “threaded optimization” to “on” – Does not affect Direct3D
Confirmed Router settings fixed BLACK SCREEN

some routers have bad firmware with buggy SPI handling. Its a known fix on other high connection creation clients as well.
I sent a message to Mike almost a week ago that the mobile authentication was NOT even asking for verification when the users IP changed, and recieved no reply.
a repair button should be added to the launcher, most other game launchers have one.
Caine,
your initial post is different to most other c000005’s in that it actually has a sub error claiming an illegal read.
post the rest of the log.
My computer has been freezing and/or crashing whilst playing GW2. It has become more irritating and noticable whilst trying to complete Fractals. I’m not sure if it’s my computer overheating or what.
My GW2 folder is full of corrupt reports.
Any help?
without more information, neither are we.
Gamebooster is mostly snake oil.
Xsplit is not unhooking its dll injection correctly, file a report with its developer.
" Assertion: Unable to execute patch file ‘C:\DOCUME~1\REZIDE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Gw2.tmp’"
start > run > temp | hit enter
delete everything you possibly can in this folder and start the launcher again.
To everyone getting this issue,
post your driver versions
windows version
and any background apps you are running (Evga precision maybe?)
How do i reset my authenticator, new phone?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Squall Leonhart.2075
You can unlink the authenticator via account support
you will need a character from the account’s name, serial number and registration email address to verify recovery.
grab the latest Ethernet/Wifi drivers from station drivers
Some of the W8 drivers available cause NDIS to consume alot of cpu and cause high cpu load and latency issues.
if you cancelled the patch 600MB in, then im afraid you have corrupted the gw2.dat and only a complete redownload (which is likely what -repair will do anyway) will fix it.
delete local.dat and it should resolve this
next time, search the forum please
.
Can you post a s creenshot of the smart stats?
Most decent AV’s actually exclude large files automatically, (or exclude file scanning for current in memory scanning to prevent excessive file IO)

actually, GW2 doesn’t seem to demand much bandwidth at all. Latency on the other hand…..

Check that it isn’t actually your modem going down frequently
recent storms up that way could have degraded our already crappy copper network.
While Windows can only utilise 3.2-3.7GB (Depending on hardware installed), this is then further broken down into the 32bit address space limits of 2GB/2GB for Kernel/User space.
Engine resources might only appear to consume <1.5GB of working set, but when you factor in graphics resource as well, this can send the Virtual Size past the 2GB limit, which is where the crash generally comes from.
Under a 64bit operating system, 32bit applications (if they are compiled to be Large Address Aware) can use 4GB’s of User address space.
run a chkdsk and try deleting local.dat
following that, if it still doesn’t work try starting gw2.exe with the -repair command switch
attach the crash log.

General Exception errors are difficult to diagnose because they can have many variable causes.
I would start off with deleting local.dat and hoping it was just some generic corruption there, before trying different drivers or disk testing utilities (like chkdsk)
Did anyone else reply?

you need to install the June 2010 directx redistributable or websetup.
good luck with that
nobody else has the problem, so it could very well be a system configuration problem.
