i7 4.4 Ghz (4 cores) or 4.0 Ghz (8 threads)?

imo, back off the overclock and re-enable Hyperthreading
this game does benefit from it.

Thats not slow
its decrepit and inferior.
This game won’t work properly at all on Intel 4 series Graphics.
no, your SYSTEM is the aspect that’s freezing if you feel the need to hard reset.
yeah
no.
Take your machines in for a service, a game won’t cause file system corruption.

I assume you have 32bit OS which is why you only have 3.25 GB usable. With windows and other background apps likely you are below 2GB free ram which will cause you to crash eventually.
- get more ram
- upgrade 64bit
- disable background processes/applications.
User Address Space limits are unique to each application, having other stuff open won’t affect the 2GB limit
Microsoft would have to fix it, obviously.

This game loads the cores it does use enough for core parking to be of almost zero benefit for the majority of users.
it may benefit AMD FX owners who aren’t running Windows 7 SP1 + bulldozer hotfixes.
i only had it once
right after an update
and not since deleting local.dat

when you have a gtx 6-series (especially a 690 like that guy has), you can get better end-results even with the “performance hit” from sheer hardware muscle.
No. where directx is concerned, the GPU is the second last and last point of processing, with the cpu handling the generation of batches as well as the decoding of these batches during the driver translation stage.
I’m not saying it should be higher than 4 threads at the base level, but it should be an OPTION for those of us with higher end systems.
Theres only so much multithreading you can do before the application starts losing performance. DirectX9 isn’t typically multithreading friendly, so its usually best to leave the graphics threads intwined with the main threads, typically, anyone trying to multithread d3d9 will encounter hitching and stuttering in their engine as the synchronisation between engine and video updates is delayed heavier.
Its obviously not worth replying to you at all, good luck with your support case.
don’t be surprised when you are put on the do not reply list.

change it to 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 to use google dns

Direct3D9 see’s negative returns and performance degradation as thread amounts increase.
Lets not talk about things you really don’t understand…….
those pop listings mean people either changed servers, or they increased the population total via hardware upgrades (or server optimisation)
downgrade the video drivers
Now to top it all off, the drive where I store all my games (Steam, GW1, Sims, etc) including GW2 is telling me that there is nothing there and it needs to be formatted to be used????
This is a MAJOR fubar here in my opinion. If a game goes corrupt it should NOT corrupt the entire contents of a hard drive.
yeah….. no.
If the hdd corrupted, it was already faulty.
games can only access the virtual layer of the drive provided by the windows file system drivers.
Unless you’re going to now blame them for causing your drive to go bust….
upgrade to windows 7
this is your gpu crashing and failing to recover, usually in the case of black screens it is because of having several temperature monitoring applications attempting to access the GPU’s smbus at the same time. Occasionally it can be caused by excessive heat.
disable ambient occlusion in the nvidia control panel.
update to service pack 1 if you want support.
I don’t see what that has to do with anything. The only process bombing out is Guild Wars 2. All libraries on which it depends are up-to-date (e.g. video card drivers and DirectX). The only Windows level updates available to my system are security updates (and this machine has no open ports to the outside world) and .NET Framework updates (no bearing on GW2 what-so-ever).
Service Pack 1 includes a number of unpublished hotfixes that improve the stability of DirectX applications, the Kernel itself, and other kernel drivers including WASAPI that can impact the stability of heavy load applications.
hotfixes such as http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2386792 (which would be applicable in GW2’s case)
If you refuse to install SP1
Anet will refuse you support based on the grounds you are not running an up to date system, considering it a waste of their time.

PC Rebooting = Hardware or Configuration Issue.
Regardless of whether metro 2033 or BF3 works just fine, they are not GW2, they do not load the cpu or graphics hardware as much as GW2.
Download and run a few cycles of LinX or run OCCT, Prime95 and F@H at the same time and you’ll have a general idea of your systems real stability.

run chkdsk on your hard drives
update your antivirus
check your system temps and voltages
GW2 is a 32bit app which is large address aware which means it can utilise up to 4GB of virtual address space.
Fixed that for you
Even with LAA, a 32 bit OS limits any application to only 2GB of Virtual Address Space.
also there.
Try stopping any background/unneeded services and applications that would eat up additional RAM.
All virtual address spaces are isolated (excluding sharable space utilised by DLL’s)
Applications running in the background will not impact the user address space limit.
I would go with a dust clog in this case.
and unfortunately everything less than a 400 series requires completely taking off the heatsink to access the screws to the shroud.
Make sure your 610 is being used and not the hd3000 in the cpu
Just like OpenCL, DirectCompute, OpenGL, etc. it is only utilised if the Application is written to use it.
Here, take this sugar pill, it’ll reduce your crash rates as well.
If you’ve reffered
Most cards that are not in the stone age run some sort of PHYSX (at least for NVIDIA). I recently stumbled upon the culprit for all the ALT-TAB crashing I have been having. When PHYSX is turned on, the NVIDIA nView Manager by default determines itself when to use the GPU. What happens with this, is any NVIDIA with PHYSX set to auto will shut down the GPU (ran a little test to make sure) when the card is not in use. The way LOL was programmed is if your GPU suddenly goes missing, LOL is forced to crash. This happens because the card No longer detects any significant GPU usage and switches to CPU rendering instead
Simply go into your nView manager and tell physX to run on your GPU card ONLY. This will prevent the card from shutting down.
anywho, hope this helps It worked for me
Theres a good reason his thread was closed and not responded to (guys an idiot).
What he is saying is simply not how DirectX/DXGI works.

Believe it or not the laptop which has a mobile i5 sandybridge and an intel hd3000 is able to get more FPS and on higher detail than my GTX 550ti…
My bullkitten sense is tingling.
game doesn’t use physx for that option to be of any difference to the game.
If you Google, you will know that this “fix” has helped tons of people even when games do not use physx. Check out the links for League of Legends, Wow and even Black Ops.
This is for people who crashes with the – Nvidia Driver Stopped working and has Recovered message
[/quote]
PseudoCorrelation
most League players are idiots, they’ll believe anything.
The setting does NOTHING for applications that do not utilise the PhysX API.
For people that could run hours on end on Prime 95 and OCCT without crashes, how do you explain that ?
Stability testing does not end with stress testing tools. Most of them only stress the ALU (Integer Math) side of things and not the FPU (Floating point math). None of them stress the Instruction and Execution units that much, which is where a weakness in RAM quality usually shows up first. Many memtests utilities also only do Read, Write and Copy tests, but do not perform Execute.
The most vulnerable period for hardware stability is when load is light and signal voltages are not constant.
When overclocking, (via bclk/fsb) some fail to boost the IOH voltage (x58/x79) leaving the northbridge unstable during heavy transfers.
Similarly, when alot of usb or sata devices are operated off of the PCH/ICH, this can also at times require a small increase (most often only required on EVGA mainboards).
More often then not however, the crash occurs because of a scrambled or incomplete response during execution of a previously written value.
Given the amount of data that is pushed through both the south and north bridges while gaming, a crash here can respresent bad sata or usb drivers (rarely) but most often barely stable voltage.

I support this idea because its bloody brilliant.
Well, if nothing else, this just saved me a service call. Thought my video card was fried, but after all the normal investigation, it’s only in GW2, and happens exactly as described here. Just started two nights ago for me, not a problem before then.
Only in GW2 does not rule out HW, infact it just makes it more obvious that your hardware is not operating in a completely stable configuration.
disable AMD PowerTune

Thats not a fix, its a workaround for a bug in an inferior driver that you refuse to update from.
They are both really terrible, you should wait until you can afford something better. Also I had an intel pentium D and my framerate was about 7, don’t get one please/
Pentium D (Netburst) is not the same as Pentium Dual Core (Core 2)
known issue on the HD3000
the 4000 on the other hand, doesn’t seem to have this problem.
Might be an intel driver issue (might not be as well).
latest intel hd 3000/4000 drivers can he had from

Disk read error is pretty self explanatory, start the game with the -repair command line with any Antivirus/malware scanners disabled.
AWESOME
now post a log, and some system information -_-
Symantec is a joke, if power erase doesn’t find something, its time to hit it with ikarus

i wouldn’t use speedfan on recent hw, it can cause system hangs because of a bad implementation of smbus scanning.
hwinfo32 or 64, aida64 or hwmon
you need to push that 4100 up to 4Ghz to see any real gains.
An insufficient voltage when vdroop occurs would be a cause for random crashes during less intensive work.
if this doesn’t prove that the game has been compromised…….
nopatchui disables awsomium for some reason.
