JQ Ranger
JQ Ranger
Rangers have been the red headed stepchildren since day one.
In the beginning the warriors and guardians complained because we hurt them too much…so we got nerfed bad.
Our pets totally suck in WvW
Now we get a little dev love and peeps complain because we are not easy bags anymore….and we can hurt peeps more effectively.
Tell you what….I’ll agree that rangers are over powered the day that I can attack 4 players on my own and either kill them or be able to run away and live (just like a thief)
JQ Ranger
The top of Obsidian Sanctum should have a control point for PPT purposes…would add another element to WvW combat.

“We’re looking at shaving the efficiency of Flanking Strike slightly, so that it now only removes 1 boon instead of 2.”This does not even include 2014 where flanking strike was further nerfed
Well…that’s a good start. The day I see a thief think twice before attacking 3-4 players by themselves is the day I know their skills have been balanced out to an acceptable level.

I love being called a noob after I slaughter them…makes my ENTIRE night :-D

So….what if each hard rez removed a PPT point from the score board? It would serve as a penalty for dying and help the server that is producing a high volume of kills.
It kind of does already with Sneak Attack active – each kill is a point on the board in the server’s favor. That’s all the penalty needed. If a small group of 15 or so take on a large group, they can generate those points throughout the fight by fighting more carefully.
It doesn’t matter if the small group “lose” the fight, because they can earn more points than the “zerg”.
I’m thinking you get a point for killing someone….and a server loses another point for resurrecting that person on the battlefield….that would make servers think a little before rezing…

My Ranger solo caps camps…LB and axe/Horn
JQ Ranger
TS gives me a headache and spoils my enjoyment of the game.
Last time I used it I had to endure listening to a bunch of tweens talking crap…and a troll playing random annoying music and sound bites…no thanks.
JQ Ranger
T1 does map hopping all the time.
You can divert an enemy’s zerg by hitting them where they aren’t….makes them either divide the zerg or come full force.
Then usually a small group will say behind to havoc.
JQ Ranger
Having Supply zeroed out at each map hop is a bad idea.
Map hopping is a meta strategy/tactic.
JQ Ranger
There is a role in WvW for Rangers.
My preferred position is just behind a team/group/zerg and to offer suppression fire. Read the Wind + Piercing Arrows makes even tanks and guardians hesitate to charge into an opposing group.
…plus, our Healing Spring is a powerful condition remover/heal for all.
JQ Ranger
I think it would be cool if ANET gave their in game enforcers/monitors a referee skin to show they are in game to referee….to include a whistle as an accessory :-)
Also…this thread pleased me. It demonstrates ANET’s commitment to policing WvW to identify cheaters….well done!
JQ Ranger
I’d like to collect the heads of my enemies…not badges :-)
JQ Ranger
How about the gem store selling small tactical nukes to wipe out zergs?
JQ Ranger
OP…you were having way too much fun :-)
JQ Ranger
Longbow pew-pew rangers…that mad me laugh.
I run longbow…it’s now relevant in WvW. I see a lot of Rangers who go Two-handed sword for their secondary (for the escape ability I imagine. I run Axe/Warhorn as my secondary…real fun to run in a crowded fight.
JQ Ranger
A dev mentioned that having /- options on WVW Stats was an interesting option..I think it would be good as a weekly feature (on reset night)—-we all should be able to adjust our stats (again…not EVERYTHING Zeroed out…./- buttons to make adjustments (PLEASE)
JQ Ranger
In GW1 knowing your enemy’s name was half the fun….I made some great friends chatting with Luxons when I played Kurzick…and vice versa.
People need to get a thicker skin…someone PM’s you and says mean things…then block them. Easy peasy.
JQ Ranger
I would die for Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry in Gw2. They were so amazing.
I lived in Fort Aspenwood in GW1…awesome game play…met some great people while competing with them….I miss my Ritualist…and the GW1 flavor of Necromancer.
JQ Ranger
Condolences. Wish I could partake.
JQ Ranger
Hamster…I get what you’re saying.
I say keep it simple. Add more realistic physics for the more tangible stuff (bullets, rocks, arrows, axes, daggers, etc)—-don’t have arrow, dagger or gun skills…no problem, anyone can throw a rock off a cliff.
Magic spells….well, they don’t really follow physics exactly anyway….
JQ Ranger
I like the concept of a council to give a unified voice to the state of WvW.
What is the criteria for membership of said council? I don’t recall voting anyone from JQ to represent :-)
JQ Ranger
Like the topic says…I see a zerg at the bottom of a cliff, I smile, whip out my longbow…and find that people directly below me are out of my bow’s range…huh?
My other alts would love to throw rocks off high places to crush skulls…out of range again….
How hard would it be to program in a bit of real life physics? I mean we die if we fall off a large enough cliff.
I know it can be done because Trebs work from cliffs…
…if you throw a rock off a cliff in GW2 does it ever hit anything?

I think it’s interesting to watch how fast up-levels die in EOTM.
JQ Ranger
That would be a fun “Out Numbered” event indeed :-)
While the winning server is responding to the event, the lesser manned server could cap areas.
JQ Ranger
The WvW paradigm needs some shifting…getting a bit worn.
JQ Ranger
I’m going to go out on a limb here….nope.
JQ Ranger
LOL …one person’s night is another person’s day.
JQ Ranger
Meh. Same match ups…with BG and Tarnish Coast….not much fun anymore. Getting stale. We need a fresh WvW model.
JQ Ranger
Poor zergs get mad when their trains get derailed by siege disabliers….I’m not feeling y’all’s pain.
JQ Ranger
I logged into JQ WvW earlier today….our PPT was 55 and there were no commanders…NO Commanders. And we were leading BG…so, I’d say WvW is in trouble.
JQ Ranger
Need to have shorter “Wars” (Matches)…and mix them up (combine weaker servers as team mates during a match against a stronger server).
JQ Ranger
Instead of White Swords…it would be cooler to have black smoke slowly rise from the facility being attacked….
JQ Ranger
BG if you want an auto little challenge win.
JQ Ranger
I am a new Commander….bought the Pin before the 200g price raise…I’d like to pin up and work as a subordinate to a more seasoned commander…I wish we had the capability to have a more robust command and control system….a primary “General” with 3-4 commanders under them.
JQ Ranger
Ask any BG player….they are always out numbered and win only by superior organization and outstanding play.
JQ Ranger
Yeah…sucks when your meta profession is not so meta anymore. Guardian, huh? I bet Warriors don’t like our sharp pointy arrows too.
Rangers finally have a role in WvW….deal with it.
JQ Ranger
JQ Ranger
+10 I hate my elites. Weak stuff…
JQ Ranger
ETOM is a honey trap for PvE players…keeps most of them out of WvW.
As far as I can see…it’s working as intended!
JQ Ranger
Previously I recommended that there be two instances of WvW…one for casual WvW and another for Hardcore Competitive WvW.
Since then we have gotten EOTM…which I would consider “Casual” WvW
For Hardcore, the only answer I see to help balance population is to create a group of “Teams” or “Armies” or “Factions” and allow people to join them. These should be server neutral…it doesn’t matter what server you are currently “living” on—you should be able to enlist in any army.
JQ Ranger
One thing you could do is allow commanders to mark siege for tearing down and salvaging a percentage of supply that it took to build it.
As a safe guard to “Commander Trolling”—trolls with commander abilities tearing down siege… you could place an internal timer on siege to make it so you can’t salvage it until a certain time goes by (maybe 5 minutes)
If you did that, you could also have a WvW skill called siege salvage…which would grant the person a higher percentage of supply salvaged from marked siege.
JQ Ranger
This is a useful tool/tactic that needs to stay—freshens up WvW a tad bit.
Y’all will just need to rethink your tactics when deploying siege to defend/account for possibility of a Siege Disabler grenade.
JQ Ranger
Ok…I spent a chunk of Karma and a lot of gold to craft all of it…
Y’all talked me off the ledge…I actually got a nice drop fighting to uncontest the Cathedral of Glorious Victory…Returner’s Gaff. :-)
JQ Ranger
Gah…forces me to craft crap I don’t want to craft….no fair.
JQ Ranger
This is ridiculous….
33 Stacks of Piles of Bloodstone Dust
33 Stacks of Empyreal Fragments
14 Stacks of Dragonite Ore
What the heck am I supposed to do with this crap? It’s filling up my Account Vault.
Is it worth anything? Will it be worth more in the future? Should we trash it?
And ANET…please let this stuff pile up like badges of honor, put it in our account wallet…so valuable vault space is not consumed.
..I’ve got 20,552 Badges of Honor there…may as well store other fast accumulating possibly valuable “stuff”
JQ Ranger
Dead thread walking….
JQ Ranger
I like not feeling pressured to grind on crappy nonrelavent activities.
JQ Ranger
I’d love to see the option for a commander to form sub-teams with other commanders to coordinate map maneuvers and tactics.
