No mention of ranger….not feeling any love.

Maybe with each future balance patch, we’ll see the meta slowly shift from GWEN to just GW… Yeah, sounds about right!
That is the old style (Hammer Train) prior to GWEN. Ranged pressure is the new meta and nerfs/tweaks aren’t going to change it much.
Ranger’s the new meta…now we’re talking!
Don’t worry…the warriors and guardians will start crying if we hurt them too much…and ANET will nerf Rangers ONCE AGAIN.
JQ Ranger
I maxed both Luxon and Kurzick titles…Kurzick faction was a lot harder to grind through…many fun battles though! I ran a healing Necro/Rituralist…my heals would kill opposing players…awesome!
JQ Ranger
Traditionally WXP points have always been reset with the start of a new tournament. I don’t think this will be any different this time around.
Aye. World Ability Points will be reset at the start of the Fall Tournament.
Can you please work out a better way to do rather than just a complete wipe. I would rather have the ability to add and subtract points from lines rather than have to do over the whole thing.
+10 to this…redoing 10 characters is a pain. +/- adjustments would be fantastic!
JQ Ranger
So…in my line of work I am hired to identify the Root Cause of a problem…fixing the outnumber “bonus” is not it. (Lean Six Sigma Black Belt)
Closer to the root cause is the server population imbalance…not just numbers, but numbers that are dedicated to playing WvW.
Solution #1 How to fix this? Remove the Server based WvW…go to a more “Factions” based system—three factions…players/guilds join a faction. ANET balances populations to ensure equal distribution of players.
Solution#2: ETOM Model…Combine servers in WvW (Gold, Silver, Bronze)…have two servers cooperating on each Borderline…sort of a meta WvW.
Solution #3: (and I have suggested this before)—have two types of WvW…a casual instance (like we have now) and a Professional Instance, where players put up some gold to play and join an Army (perhaps 10-50 gold). The gold would be put into a pot for distributing to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
JQ Ranger
Ranger = Expert Mode in WvW…simple as that.
We need to play smarter, react faster, and pay attention more acutely in order to be successful.
…and our Pets are absolutely USELESS in large fights.
JQ Ranger
Last season we established that there are no guarantee wins in WvW…find a server you like and be loyal. The rewards are crap anyway.
JQ Ranger
Commander’s Color should be based on experience. There should be a leveling system in place for Commanders..maybe based on Points captured, time commanding, kills accrued.
JQ Ranger
I like.
I like Karma Train too… Dailies are completed fast…. :-)
JQ Ranger
Geeze. WvW discussion area should be named the “Kitten Corner”
There are too many doom and gloomers. I know WvW can be improved…ANET has received more feedback then they can handle on ways to improve it.
The trouble is…one improvement for one person may be a huge game wrecker for another.
Developers must play a delicate balancing act to make sure changes enhance their over all vision and goals associated with WvW.
JQ Ranger
I like playing WvW on Expert mode.
JQ Ranger
Sheesh. WvW is the best part of GW2. Can’t wait for a refresh. I a not a developer, nor have I played one on TV, nor did I sleep at a Holiday Inn, but I can imagine that changes in this part of the game is complex.
Let’s be patient…I imagine we’ll see some upgrades and changes soon.
JQ Ranger
Let Commanders make siege for tearing down…and recoop a percentage of the supply when doing it. Then no problem.
JQ Ranger
Dead thread walking…how dare you mention anything about match-ups?? Bad OP, BAD OP!
JQ Ranger
Resetting a fight is a valid tactic and the cornerstone of some builds.
Why shouldn’t a highly mobile power build take advantage of an enemies inability to move quickly? Why should a warrior stand there and take a condition pounding from a slow necro abusing the current condi-bunker meta?
…especially backstabbing thieves.
JQ Ranger
Don’t gauge yourself by TS ….I never…EVER do TS. But I follow commanders I know and I’m a good follower.
JQ Ranger
I run for cardio…plus I’m a Ranger.
JQ Ranger
So I have tons of crap to sell…and I can only sell several items before the Black Lion Trading Post gives me a selling error….why? This has been happening like forever. I have to waste my friggin time closing window, reopening window hoping that error won’t return…please get more stable.
JQ Ranger
Necro…Fearing groups off cliffs is a hoot.
JQ Ranger
I want loot as soon as I log into GW2…can we get that too?
JQ Ranger
I have 12,000 Badges.
JQ Ranger
Gah. I’m not talking PCs…NPC’s.
In a world with Mesmers Garrisons and Forts in WvW should not have gates/doors.
JQ Ranger
Really…in a fantasy world where mesmers can port…why do forts even have doors?
Because mesmers need to get inside the fort to port people in… We know some mesmers that don’t need to break doors for that, but that’s another story…
You missed my gist.
Think about it…if you were a King and had to build an impregnable fort, and you had access to magic users who could teleport people in and out of your Fort…why not set up a system where you always had a Guard (mesmer) on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to leap down and port your people inside your fort?
JQ Ranger
Really…in a fantasy world where mesmers can port…why do forts even have doors?
JQ Ranger
Friendly fire cannot work in GW2, a key mecanic in the game are combo fields: stack might, heal, retaliation, etc… Allowing friendly fire would break that mecanic that smaller groups have to use in order to sustain and kill zergs.
Every players and Anet know what to do: disable hard rez while in combat, remove aoe cap, restore damage as it was before the Ferocity nerf, limit the number of people that can use a non spawn waypoints or remove waypoints, make it easier to hit people from the top of a wall than it is to hit from below….so many thing they could do yet every change they make is to make zerging stronger so I’m guessing, since even pve is blob to win fest, that the vision of fun for Anet is blob, move foward and spam 1. Not expecting the game to get any better, just waiting for another game like so many…
It baffles me that my arrows are out of reach to people directly below me.
JQ Ranger
Solution to combat zerg = #RemoveAOECap
JQ Ranger
out of the classes that can use stealth … thief / mesmer / engi / ranger ….
ranger should have more stealth than mesmer and engi …
but it has the least amount of stealth …
it could be pretty nice and help the classi mean if u r a hunter how do u hunt with out your camouflage XD
u dont u get eaten by a bear lol XD
Camouflage should not be a passive trait…it should be an active skill. Rangers should be able to blend in with their surroundings…and as long as they stay still should be near impossible to find.
JQ Ranger
“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”
Sadly the best situation my ranger adapts to is my death when a heavy or a Mesmer or a thief decides to target me.
Going with the master of nature and sniper thought…I have said this before….Camouflage should not be a trait…it should be an active skill that the Ranger can use to disappear (blend into Nature).
JQ Ranger
So last night I was running with a Guardian and a thief decides he wants to engage us…of course I’m the squishy Ranger so he constantly targets me (I think my bow was kittening him off too)…but I digress, we fight him off and run on to cap some more camps and Guards…the thief follows and engages us again, again we bring him to near death and he disengages …this is repeated three more times.
What other profession thinks nothing of engaging two or more opponents? this thief was taken to near death five times but kept escaping (and he brought me down several times in the process as well).
If near permanent stealth is going to be allowed, then I think damage output and movement speed should be halved when a person is stealthed.
JQ Ranger
I have a simple solution…Keep the whole Server vs Server vs Server for casual WvW’ers and institute a Professional WvW League comprised of Armies (Teams) that are not server specific.
Each season a player interested in the pro leagues would pony up a game fee (maybe 10g?) and select an Army to Join. The top three Armies finishing the season should split the gold all the players used to enter, as well as get some decent rewards from chests…
Each Army should have a cap for each coverage time zone…once filled enlistment to that army is closed and people have to choose another Army to enlist into.

In an ideal world where warriors and Guardians are strictly melee. The class speed is correct. Having ranged classes with higher mobility, and ability to CC from range would make it impossible for melee characters to close the gap and land any damage. They would just be kited for days and just drop dead.
What you people are proposing is stupid. Do I think that warrior mobility may be a little over the top sure. But look at the weapons that have mobility guess what they are all melee weapons. That need to have mobility because they are only 130 range.
This is not DD ele with 600 range that think they are melee. 600 range is close range but it aint melee.
People who make ridiculous threads like this and keep repeating this same argument has never tried playing 100% melee and tried to land damage on a kiter.
This ^
Warriors need those leaps and mobility skills to get close and keep close with ranged kiters. Warriors don’t have teleports or pulls or stuff like that, but we do have leaps that gets us close and personal with our target. Because thats where we need to be to do any damage.
Why you see so many yolo warriors in WvW is because in some cases warriors almost only chance to kill a target is to burst it down in really short time span of 10ish seconds. If the warrior didn’t succeed he will die. After that 10 seconds warrior would get crippled, chilled, immobilized and what not to keep him in long distance while the enemy keeps dropping more and more conditions on warrior while warrior is trying to use his leaps which are crippled to maybe 50% efficiency.
For this same reason you keep seeing warriors stack Melandru runes, lemongrass and dogger march. Because warrior needs to be able to keep moving and he or she needs to move fast.
So, if warriors need superhuman traits in order to close for the kill before getting killed…what does my ranger need? Being medium armor he is mince meat in a couple of chops of a sword (or hammer bashes)…so a close encounter with a heavy does not fair well…I think this post is not about putting reality into a fantasy video game, that’s plain stupid…it’s about fair and equatable balances between professions…currently they are way out of balance.
My ranger should have just as much chance to kill a warrior using my bow before he practically teleports to my location.
I quote from GW2 Profession description: “Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows.” Yeah, right.

Word. Word. Word.

What about all those poor players who transferred to the server who shall not be named with visions of a Season 2 victory dancing in their little heads?
Poor folks, gotta feel something for them…don’t we?
JQ Ranger
Only a WvW Player would allow an overcrowded server to bribe them to join for a guaranteed WvW season victory…then whine when they realize nothing is guaranteed in WvW.

Man this topic keeps coming up…and still the Moderators will lock it….like a seven headed hydra.
Hey Moderators, do you think that your customer base WANTS to have this discussion?
JQ Ranger
Please DO NOT mention server names or talk about current Matches…
Old Paradigm: The Alpha server (A) is assured victory due to server population and superior 24/7 coverage. The two weaker servers battle it for for the scraps of second place. Often the Alpha server would decide to punish one of the weaker servers by helping the other take Second.
New Paradigm: The two weaker servers take control, join forces to knock the Alpha server to third. Sharing the spoils of war.
What’s the difference? Why was the Old Paradigm OK…but the new one unfair?

If you had a line up of the usual suspects of all the classes on a cap point, ask a thief which one it would head hunt first>>
I loved the idea of the ranger class, and struggled with it in WvW for a very, very long time, but at the end of the day I had to say, ‘reality check’. I got fed up with the same lame excuses about rangers, so moved on. why choose a limited class, when the other classes offer so much more?
…because playing Ranger = Expert Mode in GW2
JQ Ranger
Give Golem Master a “Nuke” skill…huge explosion with poison :-)

Pro tip: when running around and you think a thief or three may be around, make sure you’re on the sword/wh:-)
…and pack Sic ’em! So funny to see a thief panic when you time that just as he wants to stealth :-)

My main is a Ranger…our kills are personal and specific. I grin whenever I see fear inflicted on the behavior of a target I have selected…once he realizes my bow has found him/her and will continue to rain deathly blows until they run away….or die.
JQ Ranger
Not much lately since a couple servers have decided to team up against another server and trade wins for the tournament.
Man up. My sever got double teamed a lot during Season 1 by a certain server who practically invented the concept and actually ended up winning S1…the same server whining about being double teaming…
WvW is my primary go to GW2 mode. I like the challenge, the randomness. And double teaming other servers whenever possible (I just said that to be a kitten)
