its about testing your build and skills against good opponents (which you rarely meet in wvw in 1v1), i love it! in spvp there is “king of the hill”, but a lot of the tanky gear is banned, so there is basically just phantasm mesmers owning the rest there. best to ask in lions arch if anyone feels like a duel and then head to spvp private arena (your server surely has one aswell, get in contact).
you are not a guardian and have very limited access to aegis and protection (only traited warhorn converts vulnerability to protection) – we are more the regeneration type. going at least 15 into defense for the minor trait adrenal health is what a lot of warriors do, use healing signet and mango pie to add on top of that – and you can get more healing from 30 into tactics, either shout healing or banners regen boon. besides that you can only stack armor and dodge well. also you can get a really high health pool as a warrior (30kish with exos only) to eat some damage if you want, and you have a lot of blocks in maces and shields.

hey cowboy, longbow isnt really a main weapon set for warrior. the autoattacks are garbage and there is no sustained dps on it and it lacks adrenaline generation, the pin down has a high cooldown and the traits are quite lackluster, i dont even use any of them while using longbow. however it can spike damage like a boss and isnt as much of a ranged weapon as it seems (fire fan is a point blank skill for example, smoldering applies blind, combustion shot is good for defensive purpose also), be played both power and condition variant and provides the only warrior combo field. you can get very happy with it as a 2nd set if you pair it with sword / x (condition) or greatsword (power), those make up for lacking mobility, but you shouldnt consider longbow your main weapon, it provides tools to complement your main set.

X for defense for when running hammer i guess? seems to be a build using lots of wvw mechanics, not for guild runs or roaming, but for random zerging. you can deal with a lot of stuff as long as you are not alone, but also you dont really shine at anything except long stability duration :P but yeah all around tanky, supporty, lots of stability, banners – seems ok for zerging, you are surely beloved by your fellow zerglings
on the other hand you will probably have a hard time soloing a camp or win a 1v1, but the only thing that springs to my eye for where the build is aiming at is sure footed trait, but if you run endure pain aswell.. good enough. well the trinkets seem a bit of a wild collection tbh.

agree with above poster. you will need to chose either 1h sword or greatsword for gapclosing or use a rifle. longbow offers a decent immobilize, but that alone wont cut it either. leg specialist may help with gap closing for axe.

the longbow is one of the strongest, most versatile weapons on warrior and it is to your advantage to know its ins and out when you hit 80, because compared to other warrior weapons it takes some practice to be efficient. learn to use it properly for great effect, setup combo fields with F1 for your son to pull off combos, it is the only weapon with a combo field for warrior, just dont use the autoattacks, they are horrible :P

for putting out melee damage you might want to try greatsword for leveling, it has the best damage output besides axe and offers a free evade with the whirlwind skill on a low cooldown. axes dont do bleeding btw, so that trait is a waste. but axe is a solid damage weapon too, just not as aoe heavy as greatsword and lacking on the defense compared to it. if you want to make use of the bleeding trait, use double swords, they are the traditional bleeding weapons (build for condition damage then).
i would recommend to give all the weapons a try and see how you like to play them while being aware they are either condition or power-based (though the condition ones can usually be played as power aswell) and you should build accordingly.

Was very impressed with AoA, PunK and the other guilds in GH BL yesterday, you gave our best a very hard time to keep up and it was a refreshing pace of war and map control after those 70-men abaddon blobs that hit us last week all the time.

if you add mace / shield or mace / mace you are getting pretty close to perma hard CC now with the introduction of burst mastery and the increased stun on mace burst. its just so much more then other classes get, so i see why the QQ. stun breaks and stability are no match for the amount of CC and you cant ask every player in the game to stack his utility slots with stability and stunbreaks just to not get roflstomped by this kind of build just like you shouldnt ask to stack every utility with condi cleanse just to keep up with the condition classes. it ought to be more balanced then that.

in WvW you can get 1.5k+ condi damage while building pretty much full sustained healing. stacking condi signet, master tuning crystals. add +40% condi duration and the damage gets serious business. i opt for a shout healing build though with regen boon on procs / warhorn convert / dogged march to get the max out of healing power:

The goal of this build is to have no hardcounter and thus a good chance of winning or at least stalling every duel if you dont mess up. Some zerker builds can eat through my health before i can kill them, but besides that you can kill the people who dont have a similar build with high sustained healing and good condition removal. Because of its immense survivability the build is well suited for newer players aswell, though its skillcap isnt very low because the weapons provide a variety of tools to use against different threats and the combos are very situational depending on your current adrenaline generation and type of enemy.
HUGE sustained healing, plenty condi cleanse and good armor, mobility, high group support potential with soldier runes, warhorn and shout healing, 40% crit chance on weapons, 50% on flurry/combustion shot which enables to get 25 bleeding stacks, though ill be working to get my crit chance up a little more with more ascendeds.

For WvW roaming use stacking condition damage sigil instead of accuracy for duelling. try to get your crit chance up to 20% base at least (2 ascended rings with apothecary stats and precision aswell will do the job), its the minimum for getting 25 bleeding stacks max. Mango pie or +condition duration food, and master tuning crystals.
Stability: Either use balanced stance and hurt your healing and control or spec 30 into defense for last stand (drop 10 out of arms) which isnt too reliable. I consider this the only major downside of this build besides the average damage. Running the regular build means no stability at all.
oh and btw what many people might not notice – SoR and FGJ -> combustive shot -> arcing arrow -> call to arms = 14 stacks might
Below are my stats without any food buffs in sPvP left and WvW right, after stacking might on myself and having fury up. The WvW version includes 25 stacks from Sigil of Corruption, but no WvW ability stacks, bloodlust, food buffs or anything like that, i have all exotic gear with necklace and 2 trinkets ascended:

the warrior is terrible (not a single combo landed with bow) and you dont use poison against this build because it will just get converted into more regen and is only 33% anyways, you use hard CC to break the healing signet and try to drain him from adrenaline so his adrenal health doesnt pump healing aswell. also the banners dont have 100% uptime. aswell you could have killed him if you didnt headless chicken mode, he was at 10% and your life was full, you should just have pressed him there.
try this instead.
- Garrison south inner gate will now be affected by upgrades aswell.
i guess you just have to deal with the issue that WvW is not a competitive game mode. except maybe in very high tier servers which match each others numbers 24/7, or at least more or less so. i would love if to be different, instanced maps that start when there is a queue and run for some hours and then close down and award points to the server, like spvp but on larger scale – or just let only as many attackers on the map as there is defenders – but it simply is not a competitive gamemode and asking for some kind of balance is completely missing the point. the new random matchups made this painfully obvious and really spoil every other week by creating total blowout matches where servers just give up on WvW for the week.

axe is a power weapon and offers no conditions whatsoever on offhand.
however if you insist, i had this idea: use longbow as 2nd set and put a sigil of superior earth on your axe or sword, also go at least 10 points into arms and use +bleeding duration. now use the longbow firefield and then whirl in there with axe 5. with a good crit chance you should spread some bleeds and burns.. but woah i dont even want to try this xD

there are several unreliable sources for warrior to get regen boon without using banners. dogged march, warhorn trait, dwayna runes. options are unsuspecting foe with cleric gear or deep cuts with apothecary gear.
im not a zergling, im the master of zerglings, im a pug commander. if you dont run longbow in WvW you are helpless against siege.

also you dont understand the argument against -condi food. its exactly NOT the one you are making. it punishes non-condi classes that rely on soft CC much more then condi classes which will buid for +duration anyways. see, -98% soft CC duration from 6 runes, a 10 points trait and buff food. this is quite something else then “heavily speccing”. heavily speccing is something like my build does into healing, you sacrifice almost everything for it.

hammer is a power weapon so its definately not condition damage since only your sword is condition based, but sword #3 is a hard hitting power skill aswell. probably power toughness vitaliy gear and by all means use exquisite jewels with +3% crit damage since those are a good tradeoff in stats – with hammer and shield you can go sit at 30% base critical chance, get another 20% from your signet of rage (fury boon) and 50% additional crit chance from the 10 points arms trait “unsuspecting foe” when enemies are stunnd, and you should be able to chain some nice guaranteed hard hitting crits after your hammer burst stun or shield stun. 0 10 30 0 30 traits is good advice there.
if you are more often running with your group than alone it could also be a good choice to go for cleric gear and run some shout healing build which is great with warhorn instead of shield.
i find those comments “i have other issues in mind, those are not the most important” very … hmm what word can i put there without getting infracted? unintelligent maybe?
like anyone cares if you merely state that and dont list them. its like you think we are at a majority vote here or something… make your own list then, but spare the rest of us those useless posts, thank you very much… same goes for L2P btw, thats just the same sort of “i matter!” talk without any content. bring arguments (issues, counters) instead of your VIP status..

there, fixed that for you, it was also mentioned in responses if you cared to read those. also it depends on the math, if those durations are simply added and subtracted then the issues are somewhat related (although.. condi cleansing), however from what i remember it doesnt work out like that.
gain +40% life from food, or +5000 toughness.. that would be the same in terms of other stats. no its not ok to leave the condition duration food alone. cant comment on thief ideas as i have no experience, like your idea about stuns though.
these suggestions dont aim to “balance things out” in a final sense.. i just want to get rid of totally broken stuff. they are the first step that needs to be taken, balancing anything else is completely ridiculous in the face of these issues.

its a good idea but since there is only 1 ramp up there to top level, it would be too easy to make AC hell from there and simply hold that ramp.
why the food nerf? because you get -65% condition duration just from 6 runes and 1 piece of food? thats a joke. compare it with power damage.. there would need to be runes that give +3000 toughness and food that gives like +5000 toughness or something. i dont mind nerfs to +condition duration food aswell, i actually agree, also in the traits.
edit: i took out the thing about mace damage increase. first of all im not a mace user so i dont even have a good picture of how much damage it does. 2nd i dont want to get into the balance discussion, just get rid of broken crap which Anet cant seem to grasp.
the mace 2 second stun was before burst mastery, remember that when making that argument. i rather think the other skills suck (mainhand 1, 2, 3), not the burst one. also wouldnt mind a nerf on hammer burst damage or a rework/move of unsuspecting foe. but lets not get into warrior discussion too much, these 3 things are just ridiculous and need to go.

Start upgrading and building superior siege for your server. I’m broke all the time as a WvW-only.

Thats it already! 3 simple changes! Increase revealed to minimum 10 seconds, nerf mace stun to 1.5-2 seconds. Nerf the condition duration food to -/+15% maximum. There.. 90% of broken game mechanics eliminated.

i run this as commander and also as roamer, it features longbow which is a must have in my opinion in wvw, since its the only warrior weapon that can put ranged pressure on a wall. i use fear me instead of on my mark in wvw. also outside spvp put some stack sigil on horn, condition damage or healing.

just lower the deviation to something like maximum 2 ranks up, 2 ranks down. that would not create those terrible blowouts and still provide some different servers from time to time, especially with some of them climbing or dropping in the ladder once in a while.

i actually got my only duel loss (against warrior) against a gs / hammer zerker without poison, because hard cc is much more effective vs my build then poison as it shuts down the healing signet which poison only does 33% and is quite instantly removed by me, or even converted into regeneration. why you cant beat me? because your build is a 1 trick pony to kill upscaleds and squishis and you lack the understanding of your own class to know how to counter me even though you had the right tools equipped. dodging asura skull cracks is another story, but you see: even without dodging your combo i won every encounter and you ran to your towers teleport (i dont call that a tactical retreat, a tactical retreat is when you mean to return). so just some friendly advice: try some real dueling in spvp (or against good players in wvw), dont just say “i cant do this with my build” (and if thats really the case, change it) when your 1 trick doesnt work out, and learn about all weakness and strength of your class against all enemies, because you wont get that kind of training from killing baddies in wvw, its nothing special, 95% of the people in wvw are a free kill for a player with some understanding of their class, proper gear and a bit of duel practice, aswell a proper build with a variety of tools and no gaping weaknesses (which is condi removal an sustain in your build for example).

i met that [Fun] asura warrior with fotm skull crack build and he ran from me every time after attacking me 1v1 and never accepted party invite for a fair duel away from his saving grace – the tower gate teleport.
He can leg it like a pro with his GS skills though.
reduce golems health to 20k. omega 30k.
hmm Piken, Abaddon and Millers are all medium :P But i think there is medium and “medium” since Vabbi is medium too.
dont make the servers/guilds problems your own. if the server or guild lacks commanders its not your job to make up for it. of course you also want success, but you need to draw the line somewhere or you will just quit the game for good at some time, also you will get moody and powered out and your commanding will suffer aswell as your other activities outside GW2.
by the way taking a break of at least 2 weeks (DONT do PVE or anything like that, quit the game completely – you will keep watching the score and maps and keep your stress level up if you keep playing the game) – helps a real lot. It feels like playing the game while it was new when you come back, all the routine is gone and if you did manage to really let go of it you will enjoy coming back and meeting your friends again.
