As a Necro on Teq I spam my crappy Staff #1, and drop wells underneath his chin so that they hit all 3 of his body parts for triple damage, thats all you can do really.

PVT gear with undead slaying sigil.. still crappy dps but at least I can stay alive easily.

Its not designed for 80 people, it takes 150ish or more.

The fact is, it is a world boss… that cannot be defeated unless over a hundred people organize on voice chat.

The point of a world boss is that anyone can join in, so this defeats the purpose. If this were a raid, it would be great.

This issue has gone on long enough… its ridiculous.

They use the “technical limitations” excuse for everything, and Im sick of it. Every other game I have played featured DoT using classes, and miraculously they could all apply their damage to world/big bosses. Why is it so hard to make it work in this game?

When I play my necro, I dont want to have to completely re-gear and re-trait just so I can participate in content. The bigger issue is that I enjoy playing a conditionmancer, so why should I not be allowed to play that?

Its been over a year, fix your kitten game!

I think he can still be crit during the important burn phase, which is when he is stunned. So i wouldnt wear full PVT gear, just enough to survive the main phase in.

In general, it is better to make difficult content more rewarding than to make it easier.

Actually, only the players on servers like Blackgate win, because most servers dont have a community willing to get 130 people over voice chat to maybe down a world boss. And this is assuming you dont get an overflow.. what do you do then?

What do you mean zerging doesnt work? Thats what BG did to kill him, a big zergball dpsing him. The only difference is now you have to defend turrets, and have more people on the map.

Their turret users also knew what to do, which is a huge part of this fight.

The thing is, this is a world boss, not a dungeon boss. So if you have to coordinate 130 people over voice chat, then random players or random groups will never down him, and overflow servers wont even come close.

My opinion is that its a great fight and I like an actual challenge in this game, but it is a horrible design for a world boss. It would have been great for a dungeon or guild instance.

What they need to do is reduce the amount of strategy you need, and increase the amount of personal skill you need(dodging waves, not standing in AE, proper turret use, etc.)

This is a world boss, not a dungeon boss. If you have a 0% chance to down him without 120 people in voice communication, nobody will be attempting him.

I did it a few times but now its not fun anymore. If the fight was instanced for guilds it would make sense, but the level of coordination needed for an open world boss is ridiculous.

This game is all about grinding, so spending too much time on something with no reward just isn’t efficient when I could be champ farming, running dungeons, or leveling an alt.

Im glad they finally made challenging content in this game, too bad it was open world.

If this boss were in an instance it would be fantastic, the game needs more boss fights like this.

However, this is an open world boss. If it takes 100+ people using voice chat, a specific set of gear, potions, food, to barely beat the boss… then yeah that’s terrible balancing.

Unless of course he is only meant to be killed by guilds with 100+ members communicating with each other, then what is the point of it being a world boss?

So far it seems that you need way more players attacking him opposed to turret defense, so I would say build 30 spite for power, and the rest in blood/Soul reaping for defensive traits and more HP. P/V/T gear since he cannot be crit(he can be crit for like 5 seconds after he gets hit with the laser, but 5 seconds to me isnt worth sacrificing such huge survival the rest of the fight).

Wells are great for this fight, well of suffering/corruption for damage, well of power for his fears, well of blood to heal players(you should be stacked with a range group).

If you place your wells right, you can do double or even triple damage to him, because he has 3 parts. Hands and Head.

Can he be hit with criticals? Ive heard both yes and no, and I want to know if there is any advantage to using full zerker gear compared to more survivable pvt gear.

The only useful stats when attacking tequatl are power toughness and vitality. He is immune to critical hits (So no crit damage or precision) and conditions get overridden constantly (So no condition duration or condition damage).

I was just told that after he is hit with the laser, he can bit crit. Does that mean that it would be better to wear zerker gear for the fight or is the amount of time open for crits just not worth it?

Assuming I will on him the whole fight(other than phase2)

I find it hard to believe Anet would suspend people for an hour or two and then give them the heroic edition rewards after they lifted it. Is there any proof? Sounds more like someone is trolling.

Its possible they were trolling about the loot chests they got, but they did link them, multiple players.

Im not going to name anyone or any guilds, but they were guildies of mine.

They had their ban lifted, 100% on that.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that A-Net is REWARDING people who used this code to crash servers.

I know several players who have been rewarded with full sets of Legacy armor, 18 slot bags, stacks of boosters, etc. for using this code.

At first they had their accounts banned, then only a few hours later, the ban was lifted, and they were rewarded.

Man, as a law abiding citizen, I sure would enjoy getting a reward for NOT trolling whole servers.

Not getting credit for Guild Puzzle

This is really annoying.

I just ran all 3 guild events with a large group, including the puzzle. Got the chest at the end, etc.

But now that I was about to get an ascended accessory, I see that I dont have enough commendations because I didnt get credit for the puzzle.

Now I have to somehow find a way to do it again…

I have played thief way longer than my alts and I still suck at Spvp… the class is just really hard to play well compared to necro or warrior or bunkers.

If you try to build for durability on thief you wont kill anything, and when you build for damage you die very fast if you dont know how to evade/stealth properly.

Then theres the whole thing where stealth helps the other team cap a node… its just miserable.

I play a wonky 10/0/0/30/30 spec with shortbow/ S/D. Energy sigils and just spam dodge/evades and steal every 20 seconds for daze/heal. Works pretty decent even though it has lower damage than critical strikes build.

That is what I use in WvW. Its a little different than what I told you earlier, its been awhile since I played sorry. The gear is all easy to get. Tons of crits, tons of armor, tons of life steals!

how do you spec vampire :O i’ve heard of it.

At least 20 in Blood with Bloodthirst(+50% siphons), and Vampiric Precision(Steal health on critical), and have at least 50% crit before fury.

Currently, the health you gain is very small, but with dagger autos hitting so fast, the gain is noticeable, and when you add omnomberry ghosts and sigil of blood, you feel very… ‘vampiric’.

I use a vampire spec in WvW with knights gear, its a great mix of damage and incredible survival.

I change my answer from torch to Greatsword. Twilight is by far the most Necroish legendary, and it would really give us that cleave option we need.

Weapon skills:

1a) Reaper’s Slice – Direct damage, Cleave, melee range.
1b) Reaper’s Slash – Direct damage, Cleave, gain 2% Life force, melee range.
1c) Reapers Strike – Direct damage, Cleave, gain 4% Life force, apply Weakness and Bleeding for 4 seconds, melee range.

2. Deathly Scream:

Scream at foes for 5 seconds dealing increasing damage and applying conditions every second. Channeled, roots the caster. Cone AE attack, 600 range, 90 degree angle. 12 second cooldown.

1 second = 2x Vulnerability for 8 seconds.
2 seconds = 2x Bleed for 6secs, 2x vuln for 8 secs.
3 seconds = 2x Bleed/6secs, 2x Vuln/8 Secs, poison/3secs.
4 seconds = 2x Bleed/6secs, 2x Vuln/8secs, poison/3secs, Chill/3 secs.
5 seconds = 2x Bleed/6secs, 2x Vuln/8secs, poison/3secs, Chill/3secs, Fear 2 seconds.

3. Dark Surge:

Turn into a dark swarm and surge forward(same mechanic as ride the lightning), poisoning foes you come in contact with for 3 seconds, and dealing damage on arrival. 600 range, blast finisher. 22 sec cooldown.

4. Mark of Torture:

Place a Mark on the ground that deals damage and afflicts enemies with cripple and 3x torment for 8 seconds, and grants vigor to allies for 15 seconds. 900 range, 30 second cooldown.

5. Deaths Protection:

You are invulnerable to damage for 4 seconds. 40 second cooldown. (Boring, but Necros need this in PvE)

I tried to think of these skills as to not take away from the purpose of the other weapon sets, and added a few conditions to make it somewhat usable for condition Necros, and better for hybrids. The #2 seems OP at first glance, but remember its a 5 second channel that roots the necro, so it can be easily dodged or interrupted in pvp, and in pve who cares.

Okay so I re-visited my bone minion burst build and although I cant kill skilled players fast enough, it was a blast in pugs.

Between dagger3, warhorn4, golem charge, and deathshroud fear, you have decent control, and burst with well, minion explosion, and axe2 is incredible.

I won more 1v2’s than I probably ever have using conditions. Okay maybe not but it was more fun.

stx its quite hard to use urs cos ur not using Dark pact to lock down the enemy cos one dodge and they will be out..

Thats what dagger/warhorn is for, which is what I use on the swap. The combo I listed is just what I used to burst down the heavy golem in a few seconds.

I don’t see staff being a realistic thief weapon no matter how monk-like you try to spin it.

I could totally see torch offhand working. Or Rifle for a longrange single target weapon similar to the warriors.

Warhorn is possible, but I think torch/rifle fit better.

The 1s immob might be good to root an enemy into your caltrops for p/d sets, so Im optimistic about that. Though good luck rooting anyone with -% duration effects… If the immobilize ignored + and – duration effects then it would be great I think.

As for p/p, I dont think such a change will make p/p popular, maybe Im wrong though.

Im not saying its useless because the root is one second.. I mean that has its uses.

But for 4 initiative? Hell to the No. Not with the other options you have. For P/D you can save for cloak n dagger, or the dual skill to apply torment. For P/P, unload is still much better.

I get that if they made it too cheap like 2 initiative that you could chain immobilize people and that wouldnt be balanced. But 1 sec root for 4 initiative? Useless.

Um no I don’t have any recording programs..

I was traited 30/25/0/0/15. In Spite I take Focus Cooldown, Minion damage, and Close to death. In Curses I take Weakening shroud, and banshees wail. In SR I cant remember what it was, not very important.

The main thing is the +30% minion damage trait boosts the bone minions explosions, and they each hit pretty hard.

So my burst combo as I am running up to someone is: Pre-cast bone minions, Focus4, Well of Suffering, pop DS for fury, blow both minions, axe2.

Its pretty gnarly and usually the heavy golem will be dead before Axe2 even finishes.

I use force/air for sigils. Zerk ammy. Runes I cant remember, was probably scholar or divinity, but ogre actually seems like a great choice too.

I made a build that could kill a heavy golem in like 2 seconds.

I tried it in spvp and while I could kill bad players, it just didnt pack the same punch vs people who know how to play.

Btw, mine was power/crit with zerker amulet, using focus 4, well of suffering, detonating two bone minions and using axe 2. Often the golem would be dead before axe 2 would finish. Maybe not 2 seconds.. but still it happened very fast.

If you make life steal too strong then it will make Necros way too strong when using omnomberry ghosts. Those things already heal a ton. The obvious solution is to nerf the food and make blood a worthy trait tree, but of course they wouldnt do that.

Currently, running knights gear and omnom ghosts with 20 in blood, I siphon so much health that I sometimes feel invincible in 1vX. The procs and healing from the dagger #2 channel is enough to take me from half health to full. And with dagger auto attacks and the right blood traits I can siphon a lot of HP consistently.

Doesnt work in Spvp because Anet said sorry no Knights gear.

Hello

I recently started leveling a guardian and while combat is much easier than my previous leveling experiences, what I have found is that I lack a way to get run speed increases.

Currently I am swapping to staff and using 3 to gain swiftness for about 60% uptime I believe it is, and I stack that with retreat, but retreat is a minute cooldown so I still find myself running places at a slow pace.

Is there an easy way I can maintain perma swiftness while leveling? General advice on where to put my trait points is also appriciated, so far I have been putting them into power line for dps. I am level 16 currently.

I like how minions function currently, and I agree with what Bhawb explained as well.

I do wish some of our minions would be re-designed. The blood fiend is just ugly to me, and not in the cool, intimidating, or horrific way… it just looks silly.

I am a big fan of raising zombies, skeletons, etc. But I don’t necessarily prefer raising corpses compared to what we currently do. Creating minions from dead matter is cool and different, even if they sometimes look ridiculous.

OH I almost forgot, I REALLY want a Fleshreaver summon, other than the crappy sigil. Those things are wicked!

Yes, 25 in DA would be better, 10% free damage is great. You can always get the 10s of regen on stealth with only 10 in SA, you just cant have it and condition removal, which is fine you can switch out of combat.

I use signet of malice in pve. It heals rapidly with sword/pistol #3 on trash, and also heals a lot with dagger auto attack on bosses.

Inf. strike is not a problem, like at all… S/P isn’t commonly used, nor is it op, and yet it has access to inf.strike.

Larcenous strike is the culprit, it is simply too good. Either nerf the damage, or remove how many boons it strips. Done.

You could nerf shadow refuge too for all I care, the stealth from it does last way too long.

The thing about dungeons is.. it depends on your group. If you are in a crappy pug full of condition specs, pvt heroes, cleric support builds etc, then yeah you might need some regen/stealth to keep you alive.

But in a proper group that can kill things efficiently, you can go full damage and survive with just dodge/signet of malice procs. Omnomberry ghosts help a ton as well, with a 70% crit rate they can fill your lifebar in a few auto attack chains.

The best dps setup leaves no points in acrobatics… but I have a hard time letting go of the 3rd dodge and HP gain for a puny dps gain from trickery, so I still run 25/30//15/
