I am not trying to be rude but a little common since would have gone a really long way. Common since says that them releasing a tier 3 remake on the ah would not fly. It’s kinda hard to feel bad for people when they really have no one to blame but them selfs for not using some common since.
This reminds me of a few years back when Dell (I think it was dell) listed a monitor for 15.99 instead of the real price of 159.99. There where people who had to wait over a week to get a refund. Common since told them the company made a mistake. I don’t really see how this is any different it was a poor mistake at that but common since we need more of it I think.
Wow, sure now it’s our fault that Anet screwed this up entirely. I’m more and more amazed by this community. I had a whisper earlier from someone basically saying “niark niark soon you won’t have this armor anymore”.
Why should I and other people who are out raged have to pay for there mistake? What makes the people who bought the armor better then the people who earned it? Please don’t give me a story about how much you spend on the gem shop. I personally spend between 15-45 dollars a month since I canceled my 3 wow accounts. My friend I know he has spent more then you cause he dropped 700 dollars yes dollars at one time so he could convert gem’s to gold to buy a legendary. His money so who are we to judge right.
lol he spent 700 dollars on something that isn’t his legally and can disappear at any time, for any reason beyond his control, all to impress a bunch of anonymous gamers who don’t even care whether he exists at all. That’s kind of sad.
Sorry … i didn’t agree with what ANet did realeasing reworked cultural armor. However how can you complain about new armor you have not even seen yet? Maybe it will be even more awesome!
Winged armor seems the most likely alternative if they want to go with an armor set that is as close to T3 human as possible. Atleast for female characters.
There is enough armor in GW1 that could be ported here to last the gem store a year, at least.
And most of it better than what has been offered.
I would stuff my entire wallet into the ethernet port if they rebooted the Kurzick armor sets.
It has to be the exact same ranger armor though, right down to the broken alpha on the little crotch flap piece that had no backface texture and would turn invisible if seen from behind.
How is ‘being allowed to keep it or have a refund if you’re not happy’ not fair compensation?
Giving folks transmutation splitters on a case by case basis would be a start; there are folks who reskinned over parts of their tier armor or other expensive skins, and if the new version is not to their liking, they are borked. (I know several people who are stuck this way.) And if it’s a third-generation reskin (one set reskinned over with another and then with the flame set) a splitter will revert it back to the first version and the other will be lost for good.
From what i understand thats the boat im in.. I bought human T3…. Transmuted it to Exotic armor… then when this came out yesterday i bought it and copied it over my Current Human T3 armor….. im really borked!!!!!
Explain the situation to them in a ticket. You might get your armor reverted. Probably not but it’s worth a shot.
In what world would making an even more like T3 armor in the gem store make the problem better? Take away the flames and it’s exactly the same armor. They didn’t even change the design on the texture or alpha layers, they just added the flame effect.
So if they had opened HT3 to Norn you would have thrown a fit? Yeah right… After all, you sunk so much gold to get HT3 to be exclusive, like all the many others that complained they were exclusive by getting HT3. With all the people complaining about being exclusive it doesn’t seem so much exclusive anymore now does it?
What do I care if others have it? I see other players in human T3 all the time. Ya know why it doesn’t bug me? Because they paid the same and had to put in the same effort to get it as I did, probably even more if they got it back when it was harder to make gold.
I’d rather they put every cultural armor in a universal system so that everyone has a bigger pool of armor to use. They could even tie it to a race specific loyalty/karma point system based on doing DE’s in that race’s territory. The sylvari armor where it is literally growing out of your body would look weird on fleshy races but if people want to look like mutant freaks that’s their prerogative.
I even remade a sylvari toon as a human because I wanted the human cultural.
I really couldn’t make it much simpler but it wouldn’t matter since you like many others would rather throw out straw men in an attempt to make it look like everyone is being whiny children who have to share and don’t like it.

Sure it could happen again…because companies aren’t people. Companies can’t make mistakes but people who work for them can. The company didn’t do anything…people did.
So if a mistake is made and it’s a bad one, it’s unlikely that those people will make the same mistake a second time. But companies have turnovers and experience changes in management. They evolve and change.
So the people who made the mistake today aren’t necessarily the same people who will make it the day after tomorrow.
There comes a time when the past is the past because all the people involved in the mistake are doing different things. Promoted. Left the company. No longer involved in that area of decision making.
But it’ll probably be a long time before that happens.
They’ll make other mistakes instead. Why? Because it’s what humans do.
Thing is, this wasn’t an honest mistake. They new from the start what they were doing and what they were doing was taking an expensive, race specific luxury item in game, putting flame effects on it and then tried to sell it on the gem store for 1/3 the cost of the in game version like we wouldn’t notice right away.
I can forgive a game glitch, even a big one or a class balance that ends up cascading into a huge imbalance problem. But, I refuse to accept that no one, from the conceptual team to the final project lead green light, realized they were putting T3 cultural human armor on the gem store for less than it’s worth in game.
If that’s really what happened then we should be discussing the professionalism of the people running the game because it’s silly that the entirety of the staff who made the game didn’t notice something we figured out a few minutes after it went live.
Bascially Anet had a choice they could upset a bunch of customers who already had T3 armor and had worked for it and had it for months or upset a few customers who got it over a period of 24hrs recently.
They promised us that cultural armor was exclusive to races. There choices where simple upset a few people now (how many sets could really sell in less then 24hrs maybe few thousand at best) or show the community they don’t keep there word when things are already rocky.
They just made the very very controversial decision to remove progress from people in Fractal’s. That decision was poor and most likely will come back to haunt them. Basically lose a few people now with reversing the armor or lose everything in a few months when people completely give up on the game.
I’d be willing to bet, but it is too late now, if the light armor in the gem store didn’t have particle effects but still looked close to HT3 there would not have been close to the uprise we have seen.
They must be kitten y because they didn’t get flame effects also?
In what world would making an even more like T3 armor in the gem store make the problem better? Take away the flames and it’s exactly the same armor. They didn’t even change the design on the texture or alpha layers, they just added the flame effect.
Two more weeks of Scarlet inc. GG.
She’ll probably be around till they get tired of her themselves since they can’t reasonably think we actually like her?
You know….I think I might actually laugh out loud if it turns out that Scarlet accidentally woke up the elder dragons, and that she was responsible for Zhaitan raising Orr, and that these “thumpers” are her attempt to bring Primordius up….and that it really has been her all along, it never had anything to do with the dragons at all. GW2 is the story of Scarlett.
Oh? You mean Gw2 isn’t the story of the great sylvari First Born Trahearne?
Now all we need if for Scarlett and Trahearne to fall in love.
Remember, I called it first!
They’re probably the same person. I’ve never seen them in the same room, have you?
They’re both sylvari, both steal the spotlight and total makeover kits are a thing.
I’m just say’n…
Ya, the lack of blood effects and total censorship of any and all foul language on the forums really suggests they will allow nudity in game.
No one tell him you can strip down to a bra and panties in game.
Sounds awesome. It’s pretty rare for them to make a change that is %100 positive and doesn’t screw anyone int eh process.
And yet, someone somewhere will still complain about the change.
I can just see all the bronze players kittening about all the new bronze ranked folks as they, themselves get instantly rocketed into silver rank.
Does this mean new skills coming soon?
God help us all if they ever do a golem mastery skill line.
Ranking up to 3000 and increasing your WvW-related effectiveness with the wxp points earned sounds more like vertical progression to me, or was there something I missed? (assuming this will continue to use the existing power-creep system of wxp ‘skills/traits’)
It is definitely better that it be account-bound than character bound though.
Aside from the guard ones (which never should have been made) the wvw skills are largely situational enough to not be a make or break problem that comes with most vertical progression. It’s also something you just get from regular play so you don’t have to grind for it. Not strictly horizontal, maybe more 90degrees progression that any active wvw’er participates in by default.
Seems a refund of to those that bought the set and complete removal would have been better due to the fact that when the set is updated, what if players do now not like what they have purchased?
That’s what I was just thinking; yeah I was appalled at the Culti 3 human reskin & I appreciate what they did removing it, but like you said- what if the new design noone likes it?
Maybe the people who already have that tier skin from gem store get to keep it only the re release will be different to those who haven’t purchased it?something to ponder until its released!
they will be able to keep it from what i read but i guess it will change upon the new release? I didn’t quite understand that when i read it.
But I know they can get a gem refund if they decide they hate it or w/e
They removed it from the store to keep the damage to a minimum and it will change when the new armor is reintroduced to the store. It will keep it’s current appearance until then.
I want guys like you to get compensated properly though.
The problem is how are people that payed RWM to get gems to buy the armor set advertised and also use makeover kits, bought dyes with gold to be compensated? How far back can they be compensated? I can tell you.. Gems back for the armor they paid for. No compensation for gold spent on dyes bought to match it, no compensation for makeovers to match it. Someone takes $10 to buy a skin then it get changed, wait (it will be an epic look per Anet) then they don’t like it they end up with gems on hold. If they used gold to buy dyes they get the double dong. If they used a makeover kit and dyes they get a triple dong.
Seriously Anet. Cut your losses on this one. Let people that bought the skins for the look advertised keep them and just put the new skin in the gem store.
TBH i don’t know if there’s a way to make the compensation fair for everyone. But personally, I don’t think the comparison between people who bought gems via cash or gold should be differentiated at this point. They both used resources (money vs time) and converted it to gems.
Sorry but due to gem store items not having stats, RWM trumps time in game when it comes to items purchased. I’d love to get paid RWM for every hour I spend playing GW2.
A $15 an hour job will earn you ~40gold an hour. If you could do that regularly in gw prices would be in the six to seven digit range for legendaries.
Unless you make nike shoes in Guatemalan sweat shop or w/e a real world job is going to earn you more potential gold per time invested than any activity in game unless you are an already filthy rich TP flipper.
Why is anet listening to these cry babies?
I bet 90% of them don’t even use a cc on there store, yet us ppl who do are going to get punished because of them.I bought the armour because i liked it,i did not like the other amours in the past so never bought them.
also two of my chars have had many transmuted looks on them before this new armour was put on them.
so if i don’t like the new armour i lose out on money as well as my orig armour before i put this new armour on a it will revert back to the orig armour before the transmutation. The simple way is ppl who bought get to keep it now, it simple as that.
we should not be forced to change it now and lose out because some kids who don;t even use a cc in anet store starts crying.Tbh anet will lose a lot of paying customers,if the paying customers gets **** over.
Because i will never use my cc again.Ya, what kind of game rewards in game activity more than throwing money at the screen?!
I’v have more hours in this game than you think.
I even bought this game before release so got to play the beta side of it.
also i have 8 full lvl 80 all good geared, all took a lot of my time and farming for the gear.
But if something turns up in the store that’s nice or cool and cannot get it anywhere else.i will buy it.Ya, except for the whole part about how it was there. In an npc vendor, for 3x the cost.
so what.
when i bought gw 2 i paid over £50 guess what gw 2 now is less than £25.
Also the armour is kinda different it has flames.it wont be long before ascended armour is out and they might even look better still.
are ppl still going to cry when there cheaper in tp to there cultural armour?
No but they would cry if a month later anet put ascended armor skin in the gem store for 800 gems a pop which is the proper analogy.
Sounds awesome. It’s pretty rare for them to make a change that is %100 positive and doesn’t screw anyone int eh process.
The do not touch is a text message on your screen but not a sign or a text spoken in the game. So it exist out of the lore (it’s a message for the player, not for the character). It would make sense for a Aprils fool joke (like they changed the intro sound) or any other joke from the developers but it does not really fit into the game. So not sure what to think about it.
The objects name is “DO NOT TOUCH”. You see it by simply targeting it like you would for any intractable object or npc.
Pretty sure they are here for the next LS. Why they are in the game world, doing nothing for 2 weeks is anyone’s guess though.

I am curious as I have not heard anything yet, what about all of the people that purchased this set before it was removed?
It will be updated to the new set when it’s ready.
LOL have you not been reading the forums at all? Anet just tried this and the backlash was phenomenal (and rightly so).
In my opinion, this should never happen. Yes to new armor skins, no to changing cultural armors.
Backlash was insane because Cultural Armor 2.0 cost 60 gold to make vs 1.0 that costs 160 gold when you as in the 10 transmute crystals to get the skin on good stats. It was also insane because it was one race’s armor. If you were human you just got a new effect, every other race got an entirely new armor set.
If they redid this so that every racial armor was reworked to be universal for the same cost the amount of happy people would greatly outweigh the upset.
Why is anet listening to these cry babies?

I am waiting for the epic finale – Trahearne vs Scarlett.
It will require a minimum of 100 players to complete the final battle and then, just at the very moment the last of Scarlett’s 1,000,000,000hps is exhausted after a 9 hour battle…
Trahearne will appear and deal the final blow with Salad bowl or whatever his sword is called.
Becoming the new epic hero of Tyria for all his hard work….. We couldn’t have succeeded without him.
Why does this sound familiar? Oh right… Kormir.
Prevent an apocalyptic invasion of demon constructs, save a nation from political collapse and a deadly, otherworldly plague, kill an evil god saving the world a third time, and prevent another apocalyptic invasion of constructs only to be completely forgotten forever by history while a blind general who followed you around for a bit lives forever as a god? Must be Guildwars…
You get both items back but it won’t be cheap to do.
You mean If he uses trans splitters on his flamekissed set, he’ll get back the old T3 and the exotic set it was transmuted with before applying the new skin? I didn’t think it worked that way.
Ya, sorry, I missed the part where he transmuted the T3 skin onto exos and then used the flame skin on that. I don’t even know if the splitters work with transmute skin items.
- When we update the Flamekissed Armor Skins with the new artwork, any player that has already purchased the set and who does not like the new, updated look, can get a full refund by contacting Customer Support.
I “upgraded” my full Human T3 armor to the Flamekissed set. If I don’t like the new look, will CS change or supply me with the Human T3 armor set so I can revert back?
Trans Splitters. Job done.
If the T3 was transmuted to an exotic set, I believe trans splitters will give him the exotic set back, not the previous transmuted T3 exotic, but I could be wrong.
You get both items back but it won’t be cheap to do.
When you can buy a car for a whole $10 you let me know.
Actually I have many times. Well between $10 and $50 but that is part of my business. Cars and online virtual game items are worlds apart. So your point = nill. Wait you had no point aside from trying to say you can’t buy a car for $10.
If they are worlds apart then what was the point of your analogy? Talk about invalidating your own argument…
Next LS is a plague of Scarlet Wurms. They’re invulnerable and just chant her WvW “Die, die, die die die!” monologue over and over for 4 weeks straight.
wow I’m super impressed that they are going to fix this.
All gems should be refunded just in case the new look isn’t what people wanted. Its like buying a car then the dealer comes over and replaces it with a van. “Yeah sorry we weren’t supposed to sell you that car, here’s a van instead” – ahhhh, No.
Aside from if you buy the car, the only car on the lot and then the dealer tells, “Bring the car back we are making it a van. If you don’t like the van we will give you credit towards oil changes and some other stuff you didn’t give us money for. I know you paid us cash for the car but you will have to find some other way to use it in our shop instead of getting your money back.”
When you can buy a car for a whole $10 you let me know.
Also you would have had to buy said car by signing an eula that stated that you agreed that they could take the car back at any time.
I also like how everyone automatically assumes the new light armor will suck and no one will like it.
I have always been one to speak my mind when it comes to this game. I wanted to say thank you for doing the right thing. Reversing the Tier 3 flame touched armor was the right thing to do.
Hopefully this is something the company has learned from much the same way blizzard learned the hard way that wiping warlock pets names was a very bad idea.
If you say so..
It was the absolute worst thing Anet could do (cause it basicalyl solved nothing, it created only a new problem on the other side of the coin), but clearly in the mind of someone selfish, it naturally must be the “right thing”
pfffff
It’s pretty objective that removal is the right thing to do. Keeping it impacts past players long term accomplishments. Removing would revert those who bought it to what they were barely 24hrs ago.
^This.
This is just a god darn GAME.
Then what’s the problem?
It didn’t negatively impact him so it wasn’t a problem. Now it does and suddenly it’s a huge injustice?
Wow, they really screwed up big time with this. First off because the whole concept of reskins is pretty cheap imo. Then I really find the medium not fantastic at all, some parts of the heavy are nice though. The light one is incredible though. Incredible because it is basically a T3 for half price and available to all races.
When I saw that, I knew some people would be kitten ed off and I’d say rightfully so.
The problem is I found it really amazing for my elementalist.
My elem is human, I didn’t get the t3 because while the model was nice, it was not nice enough for me to buy it while the added particules of the flamekissed really made it amazing for me.
Now as much as I understand the uproar about this skin, I am really unhappy that they are changing it. I know there is no good way to handle this as there will always be someone unhappy.
The problem I have is that chances are the new skin will not suit me and the basic t3 doesn’t either. So I am basically told I found a skin I really love and I won’t be able to keep it. It’s not even a matter of gold or anything, I just find it completly stupid that this amazing skin is getting wiped out.
I really wish they would add this set as an alternative for human t3 meaning you can buy this one if you like it or the normal one. I know it wouldn’t please all non human who bought it though but I find it’s such a pity to simply erase this skin forever.
This is the most logical solution. Just change it to merch armor for the standard T3 cost with omni access and create a new one to take it’s place in the gem store.
I doubt they will just trash the armor completely. We’ll probably see it again some day in some for another.
Judging by the length of this thread it’s likely the most popular armor they’ve ever released.
More like infamous. But, ya, I suspect they sold enough of it to bring it back again someday in a hopefully smarter way.
Can you atleast re-add the Flamekissed skin as it is as some sort of Mystic Forge combination between am actual set of Human Cultural T3 and some hard to get materials because I really love the look and really really want to have it on my character.
I doubt they will just trash the armor completely. We’ll probably see it again some day in some for another.
It was a opportunity to get other cultural armors but you guys blew it.
@ substance: You are sort of right too, yet cultural gear should be a high end skin, not limited to one race.
Exactly! I knew this was coming and I knew everyone would blow it for everyone.
I guess its time for me to learn to program and make my own game one where it be balanced, player friendly, no barriers to entry on any content, optional grind, gear that is available to all and nothing exclusive to a class or race yet full of unique skins.
GW 2 would have been this game if they never listened to anyone and stuck to their guns. Guess its not now.
Hey, I would have no problem with cultural armor for everyone. I remade an entire character from sylvari to human to get the assassin’s set but I am still two peices away from completion which amounts to 45gold + 2 crystals. I pretty much stopped trying to finish it because how was I supposed to know whether or not we would see it in the gem store for slightly more than that for a whole set with sick effects on it?
I think peopel are getting a raw deal but that’s on anet’s end for not coming up with some way of refunding people’s gems if they turn in their gear to an NPC who could then revert the skin to the original as we know they can thanks to the splitter stones.
If they had just put it in the gem store with a comparable gems2gold value to the in game armor with a promise to convert the other race’s armor this could have all been avoided.
People are kitten ed now because anet back tracked when they should be kitten ed because the very people who lack such foresight to see this coming are the people running the game they love.
It was a opportunity to get other cultural armors but you guys blew it.
lol, no. Anet blew it when they decided cultural armor should be a 60 gold cash shop item.
lol and people keep asking for capes like it ’ain’t no thing’. Well, here’s why they haven’t done it yet.
To get a cape to work they would need active collision detection on a rather high poly cloth mesh to keep it from being a clipping nightmare. Multiply that by 40 or 50 people in a single area (or up to ~180 in wvw) with the capes on and lag will take on a whole new meaning.
(edited by Substance E.4852)
this is gw2 and not gw1. if you like the changes made or being made to gw1 go play that game.
If you do not see the obvious connection between the two games, and if you do not accept some constructive criticism made here, you’d better not respond at all if everything that you want to add is “if you don’t like it, go away.” Thanks.
It seems pretty clear to me that the connection between the two is the shared lore. But, other than that there isn’t nor need be anything. And saying that something was in the first try at a long-term successful game thus it should be in the second is bad logic.
It’s bad logic to assume they would do something a second time if it worked with flying colors the first time? Guess that’s why it took so kitten long to get a proper LFG tool and why we still don’t have a legit guild combat system in place yet.
EoTN didn’t add any classes, FYI.
EotN was largely something they slapped together at the last minute when they made the decision to abandon GW1 and their then in progress Utopia chapter and tried to cram in as much lead into GW2 stuff as they could.
They already had plans for two new classes with their Utopia game. They sounded redundant and would probably end up just like the other 4 but they were there.
They want to be happy with it. They want us to accept it. This is making huge profits for them.
They don’t want this game to run for years as we do (they will try to keep it alive with the least amount of effort possible, its business), so if they can squeeze every penny out of it, they will probably do it.
I, finally, realized that this will not be the game to be played for years; so, good bye long term investments.
So long and thanks for all the cheese.
I want to come up with a valid argument to counter your implication and I really can’t.
I’d try to say the art/music team put in a ton of work but the more turnover in game titles they have the more work they get so that’s actually kind of a good thing I guess.
Bunch of narrow-minded people here, huh…
It’s certainly not the best marketing, but it’s original. :-)
Some people really need to complain about everything.
eye-roll!

Well this people get for wanting a buy to play game with no sub fee. I look forward to new sub fee games.
Not my case.
I have played tons of subscription games and the fees don’t bother me.I wanted to play a game were game objectives were skins.
I was mistaken, GW2 is not such game and they clearly showed it : skins are store items from now on and higher tier stats are the game objective.Fool me once…
Good news is the servers are still chugging along.
I’m a bit bummed because ‘Have you taken the pledge?" has become a way to mock and insult GW2 fans, Arenanet hasn’t done themselves any favors with this one.
One more reason to not ever discuss the game outside of the forums or the game itself I guess.
While I understand all the guff about centaurs… what’s a horse?
I believe it’s when you cut off the man part of a centaur and then sew on a goat, or possibly a dolyak head.
Yeah i have been thinking about the same thing.
If they compare our Adept Minor trait 50% endurance regen to
Engineers Master Major 50% endurance regen(its 50% right?) and decide to nerf our trait. Why cant we then compare our Master Major trait Signet of the Beastmaster to every other class since they get the same effects for free.
Edit: Making that trait baseline would increase our build diversity quite a bit
It´s just weird
Because it only works one way.
Warriors rifle cooldown trait grants piercing whereas Rangers need two traits/20 extra points to get the same thing? Can’t compare classes!
Engineers endurance trait costs 20 more points? Better nerf Rangers trait!
Classes get Signets active as a default except Ranger? Can’t compare classes!
Theif Shortbow is only 900 range? Better nerf Ranger shortbow!
I believe their bassackwards logic on the Sb nerf was because not enough people were using the LB.
Those nerfs make no sense…
lol they never do…
With hp and armor like that you better make sure you can kill them with your frontload of conditions because you likely won’t get a second go at it.
Ranger is stronger than it was, but so is just about every other profession. Ranger is still towards the bottom of the list in terms of effectiveness when it comes to any content.
Y like pvp where no top team has any Ranger..
Meanwhile, in every other game mode that doesn’t involve turtleing on a point…
In before “Because the lore blah blah blah”
But ya, no word on when we’ll get proper GvG content.
Nothing to fuss about. It’s simply a thumper for Scarletworms.
I swear to god if I have to deal with giant wurms with Scarlet’s head shouting “die, die, die, die, die, die, die, die!” I will just plain quit right there.
Pretty much nothing’s changed from how you describe it.
