Who said I didn’t like the game? Can you point out to me where I said that? I gave an opinion on what it takes for me to like something on a social media site. Most of these “like” contests are indeed begging fests, go look on youtube at the people that try really hard to get likes. I rarely like anything 100% as in I am 100% completely and utterly satisfied to the point that my mind is blown and therefore want to log into something I use once a year to “like” something. I enjoy the game, it’s far from perfect but it’s fun, soon as it stops you won’t see me on forums here.

I agree with some of your points but three I do not are..

Combat is fast but tied to weapons which takes choices away from the player, some weapon skills are rarely used and you have to choose between a utility to help you keep up in pve/travel/wvw etc or something else. The fact is that you’re pretty much forced to have swiftness in game or movement speed runes/traits. If the game is about skins etc and not gear than why is skills attached to gear? Also why is everything basically zerkers or gtfo?

Team? You mean guilds? I like my guild but 90% of the time when in most zones I need to turn off map chat, others in zone have a bad habit of just being in the way, finishing quests even tho you just got there to turn in stuff for the event or they’re just kittens. Try joining a dungeon as a lowbie and get kicked or deal with people who don’t want to do anything but stack spam or hide in a corner. This community is pretty bad but it’s f2p, get banned? Buy the game for 10 bucks when on sale again.

The world doesn’t feel like it’s growing or evolving, nothing I do in my personal quest changes anything around me outside of it. LS is just an AP/loot grab. If there was no AP or loot, nobody would do the LS except for a few people looking to explore it. It’s also flawed because you cannot get the items that are now taken out of game, how is this expansion like when i cannot play the freakin previous parts? I cannot gain any of the neato temp items and all because I wasn’t a player until a while ago. That’s terrible design.

Other than that you’re spot on. Tho I hate how the game pretty much forces you to craft to kingdom come to get certain things, mystic forge is fine but i shouldn’t need to get 500 crafting for an item for looks.

Too many Sylvari in the personal story. Rarely any humans, some norn but they seem to all die. Some charr who show up for like a few missions and lots and lots of Sylvari.

I think the biggest issue for me is that for how smart Scarlet is supposed to be, she accomplishes nothing. Let’s say you took away the fact she’s poorly written and everything bad about her, she’s still a failure. Why would she now after failing at everything she’s ever done, be an asset for you?

With her track record she’d be most likely to get you killed with terrible planning than anything. Would you really want someone who cannot get anything right, really to be your ally? Would you trust a screw up friend who always messes things up with something important? Nope. So why would you trust someone like Scarlet with anything super important?

Most people I know ingame seem to be rather enjoying her, so my guess is that someone started hating her here and most people followed the trend, whcih im sure had the first guy to say “I like her” we would all be happy about it.

The idea of allying strong adversaries once you defeat them comes since the dawn of men, where you would go into the neighbor tribe, win the war, and use the resources and men from that tribe to further increase your domain. Translate to wars and why enemies dont destroy the entire land but instead attack the government, because you want to use the resources of that land to further increase your lead.

I simply dont want her brightness and control to disappear. She introduced and organized entire armies, technology, and much more which would otherwise go to waste. Whereas by winning and making her work (in shackles) for us would allow us to keep her as a memento and even further make her part of future plots, where some redeemable thing might come from her. If you think this is kid’s show material then you sir need to watch other series.

Funny I see the opposite within my guilds and the server I am on or visit. I’ve yet to see anyone say they enjoy her, mostly people that say she is ok or not that bad when it’s positive. I really don’t see the point of Scarlet being an ally, isn’t it time to move on once the LS finishes? Making her an ally is just rehashing old and used ideas, it’s a living story not a never ending one.

Not many are saying the game is terrible but critique comes when it’s deserved. The LS and some of the cash grab things come to mind with some people. Just because people point these out does not mean they don’t enjoy the game.

BTW, ArenaNet is only the content creator. Not the owner. People here are owner of a copy of the game and telling the content creator what they dislike about the content.

No, ArenaNet is the sole owner of the game. We just own a license to play their content. In no way does possessing a GW2 account confer any right to dictate what the content should be. (Except to the extent that ArenaNet is willing to listen to suggestions.) You must be confusing game licenses with shares in the company.

What annoys me about these Scarlet-bashing posts is three things:

1. Some of the most vocal Scarlet-bashers (which happens to include the OP) claim that they are speaking for everyone when they proclaim their opinion. Let one thing be clear: I do not give permission to these people or anyone on this forum to speak on my behalf. My opinion is my own, thank you very much. I am not the only one in this thread who has complained about this.

2. Every single one of the Scarlet-bashers who starts a thread, believes that what they have to say has not been said before. Fifty anti-Scarlet threads later, I highly doubt that premise. Also, I am not overly impressed or convinced by arguments that consist of little more than the words “everyone knows”, “it is public knowledge”, or “obviously”. These are all variations of “I say that X is true. Therefore X is true. And therefore, everybody now agrees with me.” This is just plain bad argumentation.

3. This entire topic and all threads like it (beyond perhaps the first) is a gross overreaction. Scarlet is a fictional character, not a gross injustice or a violation of civil rights. She is not even a violation of a business agreement (because we paid to play a game with no say about the content). We are talking about a fictional character that may not be to everyone’s taste. Nobody should be fired over this. No planned releases should be changed over this. No civil wars should be started over this. Crying to the heavens about this issue and posting demands without offering any constructive feedback is not a mature way of stating your case. It certainly will not accomplish anything.

Aren’t Scarlet fans doing the same thing? Where is the massive support for Scarlet? Where has any game magazine said Scarlet is the best thing to come out for Gw2 etc? I do not understand you people. The lore never stated that other races were excluded from the Asuran education system (this includes Scarlet), its just darn hard to get into it if you ate not aura no matter how much IQ you have. As the Asura are just that darn racist. If the Asura were the only truly smart people how would the priory exist? An Asura runs it now, but a Human ran it long before him.

Also to further this point, I RP my guardian as a girl that went through their statics education and was raised by an Asura as a child. No more lore breaking than Scarlet or Priory being on par with Asuran education and tech.

Are you saying what you RP actually effects the lore? Because I’ve seen people on TC RP as vampires and as characters from Lotr. So not sure about your point, your guardian isn’t in any update I seen or is there a living story about your personal character I’ve yet to play through?

The living story is a AP and loot grab if there was no AP or loot, how many would actually bother doing the LS stuff? I think the problem most have with Scarlet is she seems to have no direction, generic and she’s so good at everything yet accomplishes nothing. She’s a bit silly and getting into all three Asura colleges is what people think they hate the most. For someone who is supposed to be such a great villain she hasn’t done much.

Also while they said they wanted to get away from human centric themes, they picked Sylvari.. they’re pretty much plant humans. They could have used something really out there as the villain.

50/50 Game is fun but really if you log in and go to major cities you’ll find more people standing around talking than really playing so really the forums exist inside the game too.

Dunno, spent a lot of money on gems and skins etc for fun. After reaching 80 a few times, unsure what the point is. Exploring is only fun for so long, even worse if your class is slooowww moving. There doesn’t seem to be an expansion anytime soon so may quit in a month or so.

I believe what should happen is a cash refund + a gem refund. If the people do not like the new skin they can refund it for even more gems. That’s 1600 gems if you don’t like it and the cash back. Because it was unfair to people that bought it. Same as the people who rolled human and didn’t just get their armor by buying a few gems with a credit card.

Whoever released this showed me that Anet has no communication or accountability with their employees. Who in their right mind would let this get sold after Anet banned people who exploited racial armor on other races before and said they wouldn’t do anything like this? Except for the fact that the human skin is exclusive which this armor was based off so no, I don’t see your point or how some gem skin outweighs an entire race’s cultural armor. Because it is based, no it is redone human T3 if it was the light armor you liked than you and the others should have made a human. I love Norn t3 heavy but I’m not going to cry about not having access to it because I did not make a Norn. Would I be upset if they put norn t3 in the gemstore and took it away? Yes but I’m not going to sit here and think that for a second that the people who picked human for this look of armor and leveled, took their time and gold to get this armor are somehow on the same footing.

Source that ANet won’t fix that? Don’t you think they are smart enough to know how much of a mess they’ve made? If it were you in charge, wouldn’t you address these issues on a case-by-case basis? I would.

I’d avoid making these kinds of incendiary claims until we know how ANet is going to handle these situations.

This is all on Anet, they said these racial armors would be exclusive yet put it out as gem skin at 33% of the cost of the actual armor. You’re also not counting the time, effort or gold people put into their characters to have the option to have this racial armor. Some people pick a race based on racial armor and to put it as a gemstore skin gives a big middle finger to anyone who rolled a race to get the benefits of being said race.

So yes it sucks for both sides but even more so for people who rolled human to get access to these skins.

That would work well if 1. You didn’t have to roll a race for armor, 2. People who spent hours, gold got a reroll to another race of their choosing but we know this will not happen. It was a huge deal to those who did get the skin, or those who wanted to. Even if we’re in the minority this time, we’ve as much right to voice our complaints about it being removed as you have to support it’s removal.

Why? Cultural armor is for that race, once you pick your race/class there is no going back. So why should you get to keep an armor for a race you don’t even have to roll to use while that race gets nothing in return? How is that fair?

Scarlet is a poor version of the Joker, they don’t even try to hide it. Except all the things that make Joker great and scary isn’t what Scarlet is. So you are all in fact the minority in this game, or these threads will have new faces as I’m seeing the same exact people complaining.

Human-centric only lore was GW 1 and kinda boring (and I liked GW 1 lore). But I wanted to know about everyone else way back in GW 1. All the sentient enemies seemed mindless when now we know they are not (charr/hylek/djinn/etc). Also the dragons are even more boring than Scarlet. If I were to act like the negative side of the forums right now, I’d make threads against any more dragons.

People to me that hate scarlet sound like they hate all lore that isn’t about humans or the gods or anything from GW 1 that frankly (besides Cantha) is all about humans. If I want to know more about humans, I can just read a book on world history or look at human anatomy books. If you “the majority” hate the game and Scarlet so much, just leave now! We don’t need your negativity in the game or Lions Arch especially on
Tarnished Coast.

GW 1 lore was great, but its done. Get over it. If you missed the GW 1 lore, play the old game or read wiki for a few hours.

I have other reasons to hate the game and Scarlet is not one of them.

I’m from TC and all I hear about Scarlet is negativity. No matter what zone I’m in DR, LA or anywhere else. I don’t know when you’re on but either you’re seeing different people post or something. Also don’t need negativity? All TC has is negativity and trolling in LA or the popular major cities. Nobody here has said they hate any of the lore but that Scarlet breaks current lore and that the dragons are put on the back burners. Also human lore in game isn’t earth human lore at all, nothing you mentioned has anything to do with the current complaints, sure some people outright hate scarlet but most are just sick of seeing her al the time. Just like you’re sick of human centered themes.

I’d say 3/10 the T3 fiasco is annoying.. Scarlet.. the lack of anything meaningful being added to the game. I did buy the heavy gem armor, it’s nice but then realized the chest piece is terrible looking and they should have changed more about it.

The whole reason people even bother buying the T3 cultural sets is because of exclusivity. At the very least you know (knew) that no other race can have it, so that reduces the number of possible characters with your set by a huge %.

This is where I stop following the argument. Is this true for many people? Your primary goal is to have a unique look? I don’t think so. If that was the case you’d see more people running around in godawful generic armor sets that no one uses. The goal is to have the best look. For many people, the best look for clothies is human T3. Stand in LA for 15 minutes and watch people run by, it’s clear that people care more about having this look than they do about how many people have this look.

I made a human guardian even tho I like the norn heavy armors. It was my choice but now that human t3 can be bought for super cheap, I want the norn armors because they look good.

Why even bother with racial armors now? Let’s have everyone get them, would make a race easier. Now you don’t have to worry bout that pesky human only or norn only problems. I’d like Heavy norn armors please.

Indifference isn’t hating her. Its also not good for whats supposed to be the life-blood of this game if you go by what Anet says. The living story is supposed to be fuelling the game, keeping it fresh. Indifference and not caring about it, like doing it just for the AP’s and not caring about the story itself is still not liking Scarlet and not good for the game.
Indifference is worse than dislike and wanting her removed. She doesn’t even warrant the attention of those people. Is that what the Living World is supposed to be? No, its supposed to be drawing people in and keeping interest and generating interest from new players.
Indifference is hardly a claim that Scarlet is wanted and it should continue. People who are actively against this weak character and people who are indifferent outweigh the ones who might actually like her – which I have yet to see in game when a new Living Story comes with her in it.

Exactly, the problem with indifference is that once you’re this way there is no redeeming at all. If you hate something, an action can bring you from hate to liking or loving. With indifference it simply doesn’t matter. As I said in another thread, Scarlet is like the Ex nobody likes or really hates, just want to never seem them ever again because they’re just that big of a let down. With so many people just quickly getting the AP and standing around they start to get more frustrated and angry, demanding an expansion which means they lose players.

I have seen quite a bit of indifference, but that doesn’t mean those people actually dislike her, they simply accept that she is there.

The fact they are indifferent means that Scarlet is less than successful because the story or her do not matter to anyone. I really don’t care either way but Anet advertises her like she’s special when she isn’t. When most people are indifferent to what you put out or dislike it, it says a lot. The problem now is the fact no matter what they do to her, people will not care because she is simply not worth caring about. Honestly I’d just like to see some weapon updates, new armor skins or dungeons. Living story isn’t anything to me than a way to get fast achievement points.

Well I kinda want access to the norn heavy armors for my human. Maybe that can happen now? Part of picking a race for me was the cultural armors. Now we don’t have to worry.

That kind of sucks for anyone who spent like 100g buying the entire T3 set.

I find her boring and in the way, not in the way as a threat but more as in the way like a crying kid at a movie or a barking dog when you’re trying to sleep. I don’t know anyone that likes her or where GW fans have gathered saying they like her. Log into a game and ask map chat how they feel and most will say they don’t like Scarlet or the living story is garbage and they want an expansion.

There is your majority. I don’t really care for Scarlet or hate her, I’m indifferent because she really doesn’t matter. I don’t know if she deserves all the hate but the fanbois make me laugh with their estimates of how many like her etc.

I think they need to add a few things to P/P..

Turn Pistol #2 skill into a kick, either a knock back or knock down. As it is.. it really isn’t used for much at all. Warriors have the skill where they can hit with the butt of their rifle.

Unload should have a 5-10% damage reduction when using it, it’s a channeled skill and it can even be a trait but would help since stealth is limited.

Pistol #1 should fire faster and have it’s bleed removed and replaced with vulnerability and it’s stealth skill turned from stealth to an activatable back shot like back stab. But have a CD on it.

Pistol #4 should be a daze shot followed by two more shots, giving you a toughness or regen boon for X amount of time.

I had never seen Scarlet before doing the Tower a few days ago, going through the top I was excited to see what this tower was for, what enemy I’d face and then I seen Scarlet’s ugly in game model and her really terrible taunts. I get she’s supposed to be crazy but it takes a well written character to pull off crazy, see the Joker. If the Joker was written like Scarlet is in game, the Joker would be one of the worst villains of all time.

She’s a terrible villain who does things that make no sense and seems to have no real baring on the world at hand. She serves no purpose it seems, in fact I’ve had a more interesting time debating with people about Kasmeer and Marjory being a couple than anything with Scarlet. After seeing Scarlet in game, had no desire to wiki her or find out more. I’ve wikied everything from the Human Gods, flame legion and the Asura, Sylvari, the Dragons, Animal Norn spirits and Orr.

I’ve yet to find one person in my guild or map chat who says they like her, a few seem to be neutral or say living story is a waste of time. You want a really good bad guy? Go read up on the Joker, read game of thrones, or anything similar to that. Hell Tony Sopranos uncle Jun made a better crazy villain, even if his craziness was pretend. It was better than Scarlet. Hell Q would be a good villain to study or even someone like Hitler who could motivate people to do things as people earlier mentioned.

I like p/p but unload and the auto attack do not mesh. Only unload and black powder seem fluid. The rest lag in usage, pistols should either be power or condi, not both. A friend been trying to get around this by going crit and crit power.

I recently made a thief, been D/D and love it. Love the bleeds etc, so far I have little issue with most things but AoE seems to just rip me up. I’d like to hear if anyone has any suggestions or builds that add just a little more survival in case of AoE. Thank you.

Jory doesn’t seem to have a thing for malibu mesmer barbie. I also think the OP meant “odd” as in their relationship isn’t defined and is questionable on what type it is. The dialog is a bit friendly but also flirty so yes it would seem odd to anyone within earshot. Odd doesn’t mean wrong or bad, it can and usually means different or unusual. I’m pretty sure Kas is into Jory, tho I swear Kas hit on Farren so I have no idea. As long as it’s not the main focus of the story, doesn’t matter.

I use the trait inner fire to gain fury when set on fire, well I use torch 4 which says you are setting yourself alight to burn nearby foes etc. So does this not count at all?

I am not standing still. But the Ele is over the top dependent on constant running around. Other classes need to dodge now and then! But with Ele I need to be lolcoptering the enemy all the time, and thats just plain silly.

Then maybe the profession simply isn’t your thing. Personally, I don’t have the issues you complain about. Between the staff’s control skills, the Earth Elemental and the perma protection/heals I don’t have much more trouble staying upright than warriors do in PvE. When things get to extreme though, I move, but that’s also how things were in the other games you mentioned (even if they were much less mobile). I’d say percentagewise, the Mage and Warrior in WoW move as much relatively as the Warrior and Elementalist do in GW2.

Don’t play a light armor profession if you can’t handle avoiding damage otherwise.

Have you ever played a WoW mage or Warrior? Because WoW mages turret, they don’t move much except on certain boss fights, the only mobile mage would be arcane and even then you channel a lot so you’re not moving. Moving = cancel spell cast. Also warriors can just charge mob to mob on WoW. So I’m not trying to be rude but GW2 Ele moves around a whole more more than any WoW class every does, except maybe a hunter when kiting.

But I get the attunement changes, that can be annoying to switch to heal then get locked out for a while. Most other games offer you a specialty with other utilities to play with, GW2 offers so-so spells on attunements that lock out and no real weapon swapping. You really have to love the ADD playstyle to really even bother with the ele which kinda sucks because there isn’t another mage class besides necro to play with.

The sword root is a major issue for me, takes away mobility and puts you in a bad spot.

I’m not a ranger expert but why is axe even ranged? LB covers long range, SB covers short/medium range. Why not just have have MH axe be melee? A condition melee weapon that goes well with dagger or axe offhand and then the next weapon for rangers could be rifle?

I love the Axe being ranged. Would not want to change that all.

The axe feels clunky ranged tho. Maybe it’s just the skills.

MH axe is ranged because ANET wants Rangers to have a ranged 1h weapon and doesn’t like Rangers with guns. Which is why we probably won’t be getting rifle any time soon either.
