Ones that make sense for the classes they represent..
Warriors getting a earth magic healing spec
Necros getting shield and sword tank spec
Guardians getting death magic and shooting green beams
Rangers losing pets and gaining elementals
Thief losing stealth and gaining dual focus
It’s because nothing fits Charr right and because they’re hunchbacks. Fix these things and you’d have more Charr players. Tho can just force people to reroll to Charr and all under played races, justice for everyone!
Guess there is a reason why Druid Staff attacks are supposed to be Solar but blue instead of white’yellow/golden, maybe it was intended to be a Guardian thing and they decided to switch in early conception?
(edited by Sunshine.4680)
well to be fair the real druids probably were more like the latter than the former
That’s quite possibly true. This form reminds me of being in the Store Spencers with the black light posters, tons of random crystals and incense to cover up the “herb” smell, way psychedelic and was expecting a more shamanistic/chief type deal. The form doesn’t bug me much, just thought they missed an opportunity to showcase Day/Night within the nature theme.
Celestial sounds much like some hocus pocus healin crystal crap you’d hear about from some new age healers
That’s unsurprising, since Druidic imagery heavily influenced new age stuff.
Of course but when I think of Druid i think of someone wise, communicates with nature and has a bond that goes beyond the unseen eye, not someone having a shop who speeds most of their time eating magic mushrooms and speaking of things with no substance.
The gaudy anime inspired clones that pop up with the over the top wings, similar hair styles and obnoxious colored gear.
I think the problem is the wording and also the overuse of blue themed light effects, a white/yellow/golden attack would feel more like a solar attack compared to blue. The problem is it feels much too much like Guardian themed stuff.
What they should have done is changed the effects based on if you were in the form or not, meaning out of form it looks like sunshine, in form it looks like moonlight. That way it goes from day ot night, “Nocturnal Form” if you will. Celestial sounds much like some hocus pocus healin crystal crap you’d hear about from some new age healers.
I think it would have been neat if the normal attacks etc where green/planty/sunshine and the nocturnal form abilities were blue/white looking like glowing plant stuff that only grows at night.
Tengu or Scritt would be more logical, not to mention the clipping and how would they even really work outside of water type environments? They’re just such an edge lord race and they’re better off as an NPC. The whole allure of them is the fact they’re elusive and solitary, so how will that work when you see a bunch of them running around fighting spiders and rats?
Nobody likes underwater stuff, the portion of the population who likes underwater stuff is prolly less than the population of Female Charr Dual pistol Thieves. It just seems like so much work for so little pay off.
But can see it now, Butterfly dark elves all dyed black with those gaudy black wings and giant over sized twilight sword running around.
I’ve used perma wrath with mace/focus build and burn on block trait, keeps targets burning for a long time. Sword is faster but Mace has a aoe symbol that keeps procing wrath. Honestly perma wrath and the traits that increase burning damage are way to far into lame trees. Guardian traits are spread really strange.
I don’t think they want it turning into what it was before, just dozens of people standing around there while other cities are empty. Now cities seem lively no matter where you go.
I could, quite easily, name at least 3 threads currently active, where there has been NO response from Anet in them for ages.
Developers usually have a policy not to reply on the forums. They have specialized CMs for that (Gaile for example), but obviously these cannot give actual information, not being the developers.
There are exceptions.
- A CM asks a dev for what they can write in response (rare, wastes a lot of office time considering it’s just one thread, and the dev needs to have already read up).
- A dev asks their team manager whether they can reply directly.
- A technical tester does a back-and-forth with a player on a technical matter like recreating a specific client crash they cannot easily reproduce in the office.
In general however, it is very common for developers simply to not reply. What is weird is that ANet has no one shoving hype-information our way, constantly. We have 0 clue what they’re working on, at all. Not on a macroscopic scale, not on a microscopic one.
Compare Ghostwalker in WoW:
He was hired to be what Gaile is, here, but also at the same time the dev team lead. This gave him the unique position to keep telling players potential upcoming stuff, no matter how likely or unlikely it was to ever get implemented. As a result, he became the target of personal vendetta hatred among players (“GW hates my class” was the most common one, I was laughing myself silly when upon leaving he finally said what his main had been all those years, Holy Priest :P ).
I hope they paid him enough. But the upside was, you always heard about what they’re working on. Always. You might not like 90% of it, but at least you heard about it. Oh and ~95% of what he mentioned never made it ingame, ofc.
Do you remember Eyonix and the bus shock?
There is no way. Don’t even try, you can make a thread and one of a few things will happen. White Knights will derail it, your posts get reported regardless of content or doom & gloomers muck it up. Even if you post something funny, intelligent and bring great points, the white Knights will get it closed even if the point you’re making is valid because they’ll fight with everyone in the thread.
Even if you ask people to stay on topic you’ll get posts deleted and infracted by certain mods. I noticed in some threads when certain WKs show up and you ask them to stay on topic, suddenly you find yourself infracted and the thread closed/posts deleted. I pretty much stop posting here because of the fact you cannot post any thread here without one of three groups coming down on you. Look at the thread you made and see a certain someone is already causing problems.
Marriage shouldn’t grant special bonuses to accounts, and as such should be kept to RP choices made by individual players with no official supported features.
And the whole account bound sharing thing would be so convoluted. Individual chars sharing account bound items from other accounts?
Also please abolish marriage in real life.
Agreed with you! Marriage accomplishes nothing but drama. Should be banned.
Is she responsible for creating all that living story story stuff? Its could be explanation why we must again and again fight all those plants and dealing with sylvari and all this girl style stuff:-)
“girl style stuff” is not something that exists. But thanks for being completely un-constructive and sexist.
You’re saying frilly and girly things do not exist?
This has been brought up many times and shot down just as many, people need to let this die. GW 2 is barely, barely RP tied. It’s not needed, there isn’t even guild halls yet. There is no reason for it even if it offered nothing. Drama and stupidity would follow and there is so much of that in game already. This isn’t the sims or Secondlife. The team should work on other stuff before this is even ever thought of again.
Unless marriage is the new end game. Haha.
Gratz and think this is the first thread I seen by Vayne where he isn’t fighting with half the posters. Guess not all men are stubborn and rowdy all the time.
Do people really get bothered when two people are conversing in a language they don’t understand themselves? Really?? O.o
So if you’re walking down the street and see two obviously foreign tourists talking between themselves in their mother tongue, you say to them, “Hey, speak English!” If so, why?? It’s not your conversation and they’re obviously not talking to you, so what does it matter?
Except those two people aren’t using a megaphone, mapchat is mapchat, we’re not talking about local chat. Think about it.
Babbling in map chat about sexual things, drugs or idiocy = mute
Babbling in another language = mute
I don’t want to listen to nonsense, map chat is to get help, learn what events are up and general chit chat. Babbling in another language and cluttering up the chat is about as bad as the “I’m so high kids” and there is nothing wrong with blocking someone for it. Guy didn’t have to be rude but sometimes it gets frustrating.
Also people need to stop throwing the word discrimination around, people discriminate everyday. Walk down the street and see some guy with tats or looks scary and you get nervous or avoid him? Discrimination, but I suppose to some of these pretend white knights who looove everyone they wouldn’t judge them at all. It’s human nature to discriminate at will, you just don’t do it loudly. You cannot honestly say you do not discriminate and be an honest person.
I also wouldn’t play a german game and spam english in their chat, it’s rude. Would the same people defending that anyone can speak whatever they want feel the same way with an obnoxious english speaker in german chat? Prolly not but it’s also human to be a hypocrite.
What’s the point of DB if going hybrid gimps the rest of the set? >.>
thanks! it does, was thinking about a clone build and thought maybe that might help a lot. That’s a shame it only helps direct damage. Your help is much appreciated.
It’s that only bonus to their direct damage or also conditions they apply?
Immobalize goes against active dodging and defenses, it’s the polar opposite, I had immo stack up to 30 seconds, it’s out of control.
While true, and something I’m fine with, you can’t go making something that a profession cannot do at all that important to the game. Making something important that everyone can do, but others can do better? Fine. That encourages diversity. Making something important that some professions simply cannot do? Not so much.
Interesting. Team Fortress II for example would like to disagree with you, having very valid hardcounters in it’s class-setup, leaving classes like the Heavy completely exposed to a Sniper at long range with no way to retaliate.
And? It balances fine.
Because it is not about making you able to handle everything.
Rather, the opposite is the intend. You’re support to have someone in your team to reflect enemy damage back. Cover you. You add your utility to cover their weakness in turn. That’s more or less the core of class-/spec-based game design. It’s good they’re (at a glacial pace) pushing that more, making people more and more dependent on the team, not on themselves. It’s a MMORPG, the whole game is built upon the idea of multiplayer, on top of that the game heavily advertises massive-multiple player elements with its PvE and WvW.
On top of that, class-based design ideally uses this hard-wired reliance. More of it, please. That is irrelevant as guild wars 2 class design was suppose to be that every class can do everything and are self reliant.
Yup, as it is every class should have a 40-50% chance to beat any class as it stands, sadly condi removal is limited on some classes and reflection is only on a few. Sadly buffing ranged is good for pve.. not so much wvw.. =/
He should’ve worded it better then. It’s silly to assume that someone would think that ABSOLUTELY every single person in the game hated the patch anyway.
If you look at the forums some people where trying to say just that. (ABSOLUTELY)
Hyperbolic vs categorical
Which is the argument being tried anyway – the patch was terrible and kills puppies and if you disagree you must be fanboy white knighting.
if you are trying to swing this poll into, people arent that upset, thats not what the poll shows.
I’m not talking about the poll, I’m talking about the . . . atmopshere, around here. Though I should point some guildmates at the poll – they were really liking it.
well my personal feeling is less sour, because they say they are planning to change it by next week or so. However many people probably didnt hear that. But the reason it is so negative is because really, they should have known, if they even looked at the result on the trait system, they would know people really dislike being locked out of basic traits, how do they think they would react to skills?
when this info first came out as part of the china plan, it was overwhelmingly negative, they were like hey guys thats just china dont worry about it.
they should have known people wouldnt like the skill lockouts, they should have edited that out. They also really didnt need to do some of the new level streamlining of hearts, they really killed the atmosphere of some of those low level hearts. no feeding of bear cubs? that was kind of the point.
its a bad trend for a lot of people. They did this change that almost anyone could have seen would be poorly recieved, (which is why people think they arent listening) and they seem to be changing the game direction to more of a grind exp, checkbox philosophy.
they really underestimated how many people alt, or plan to alt in the future. i would guess the large majority intend to level more than one time.
What’s ironic a lot of chinese players bought the game to get away from the overwhelming grind of many asian mmos.. and here comes anet with their changes which was opposed by people used to grinding games and they think it’s going to fly here? Not sure how they expected that to fly or attract new players.

I don’t like the patch. But whoever (if there’s any) thinks that anyone who likes it is just being fanboy white knighting let’s fighting is a kitten and a puppy hater.
I’m sure there are a few obnoxious ones but it’s mostly the update defenders that lump everyone that has a problem with the patch as some horde that hates everything, doesn’t know how good we got it or something. Using a bunch of misleading words and political talk to muddy the water.

My wvw guildmates and pve guildmates dislike it for the most part.
The vote is kinda bias imho, should just be “Do you like this new changes? Yes/No/Not apply”. Breaking down the not-like into so many categories while like in just one is an attempt to divert the Nah votes.
Btw. I voted “not apply” option, since the trait update already kill my desire to make new alts, this update really just reinforce it.
Yes the vote is pretty well worded to divert people from the dislike vote. Pretty sneaky.
Nothing sneaky about it. It’s simply that so many people seem to HATE this change and others might not feel as strongly.
The truth is if peoiple are voting it would be okay with some changes, they’re probably closer to liking it than not, because I gave them that option.
I could have put I like it but it would be better. I didn’t, to make it fairer.
The bottom line is it’s not as dire as some are painting it, period.
Than word it,

Not sure yetthe way it’s worded now is so vague. I could put do you think congress is ran well? yes/no/it could with changes, well duh dislike and changes are nearly the samething. That’s why people dislike it.
Doesn’t matter. Would be okay with some adjustments just means its NOT ok now.
I know which is why that option and dislike patch are nearly the same thing but it’s misleading, like if you don’t select dislike than you’re mostly okay with it. It’s a sleight of hand trick.
When people say they hate it to me at least it feels like they want the old system back but I like the new rate of leveling in the current system the new reward system the way PS is tied in better with the leveling process. The wording in the poll is fine with me. The only thing I don’t like is the skill locks but that is just one portion of the overall leveling experience.
Maybe the OP should reword his poll, how many people like things things getting level locked.
The OP was the one that dont’ like the trait lock, now he likes utility getting locked? I’m confused.
The wording is fine. It’s specific without being overly complicated.
The wording has two negatives which are nearly the same thing but one sounds like “oh it’s not that big a deal, just a few lil bugs and such.” Well three counting hate. It should just be 4 simple options since dislike = changes need to made already.

According to your poll, 68% of respondents say that the changes are not good as-is.
And 1% say “meow” . . .
But they could have voted don’t like it or hate it. They haven’t.
Doesn’t mean they’re happy with it.
The new leveling system was designed to bore people and for people who play GW 2 on leap frogs.
Do you really believe, the developers designed the changes because they want to bore the players?
Greetings.
I’d like to believe a lot of people don’t intend to do what they do but when it comes up that way, it’s easy to assume.
Low leveling shouldn’t be the challenge part of the game, people were complaining about dungeons being to easy or just zerging stuff to get stuff done faster. Level gating stuff doesn’t give a challenge, just makes it more tedious. They want to give a challenge? how about some hard end game dungeons than?
They should let you trade them in for karma or money or something. Nobody likes Jenna anyways.
The new leveling system was designed to bore people and for people who play GW 2 on leap frogs. Vayne has been in full white knight mode since the patch, it’s like one mad man screaming at the dark. Maybe he’s an eternal optimist and everything makes him happy.
Yes, Vayne, all by himself. No one else likes these changes…etc and so forth.

Vayne isn’t alone. Contrary to what most people think, I’m seldom alone. Many agree with me.
Responding to a community that was in full riot mode is sort of what I do. But at the end of the day, there are people who were complaining yesterday who are singing a different tune now that they’ve actually tried the experience. Some like it. Some say they don’t get what the big deal everyone is making is about.

And yes there are people who still don’t like the change, but that’s true of any change.
It doesn’t mean it’s not a change for the better.
What about it makes it better do tell? I also could care less about redit or anything like that, they’re are people celebrating warrior nerfs and happily trolling their forum. Guess that means those nerfs were a positive too.
Warrior nerfs were certainly positive. I’m almost partying about them.
I’ve explained elsewhere what makes it better and I have no intention of typing it all again. I’ve linked threads where people say they liked it better. There have even been threads on this forum where people like it better.
Yesterday on reddit, the world had come to an end. It was over. Everyone was leaving. People were telling people not to buy stuff. The reaction shifted as people started giving it a chance.
Those who judged it immediately, and will stick with that no matter what are already gone. That’s the price you pay for improving something. Some people won’t like the change even if it is better for the product. I’ve seen this often in my life. It never stopped my business from moving forward.
The tide has already shifted and the big fixes aren’t even in yet.
No offense but all you do is come into these threads and try to make it seem like the patch is great then bail out saying you already explained it. so why do you show up in all these threads? You like the patch, good for you. Does that mean you need to go into every thread that dislikes the patch? It’s your opinion, or do you think because you like it that we all should?

I’m curious too, I’d like to use a staff condi or hybrid build for solo pve and random pvp
I wish its worthless auto-attack would get buffed or reworked to be made more interesting.
I just wish it didn’t have that awful stroking animation it does.
When the announcement of GW going to China happened and the whole pay for monthly service thing came up Anet said that NA/EU wouldn’t get a lot of the same stuff China did.
We did not get the title system and dyes are still not tied to gems via identifiers. There are several things that stay at GW2 China exclusively.
They should keep their leveling and trait system too.
Really disappointed that any of the Chinese changes are coming into our game. The leveling, the story, the ugly backpeices. They all made me feel sorry for the Chinese. Thankfully we won’t get the VIP system. I’m out, if that is ever implemented.
What’s funny is didn’t Anet come and tell us we wouldn’t get the China stuff? Now here we are.
Arenanet announced the future implementation of the Chinese tutorial and leveling system already in July last year. There was enough time to prepare yourself for it.

Key farming now makes getting skins that much harder and more expensive. People won’t be buying more keys but less once they realize you can open 20 boxes and only get a scrap.
The skills were designed to give Warriors the ability to chase kiters, then people started using it for other nonsense, just make some of the abilities need a target and there you go.
Please let this OCCUPY crap die off. We get it, a lot of people like SAB, but it’s not a game breaking problem if it never returns. The occupy movements from a few years back bring back horrible memories of people who’d rather protest than actually take the time to apply for the jobs that are out there but no one wants (that they felt are beneath them because they have a college degree and fail to realize that a job is a job). If ArenaNet determines that SAB is in the best interest of their game (it really isn’t, it’s just a neat little extra). I do hope they just permanently re-enable the content so those who want to play it can, and people like me who don’t really care for it can stop seeing this occupy crap all over the place.
But occupy is the ultimate form of slacktivism! How else will they let their whines be heard?
They go to places like imgur and tumbler and whine and post sarcastic pictures etc. That’s the problem now days, life’s too good so either got to complain or try to form or join some movement so they felt like they were a part of something. Occupy is over and guess what it did? Nothing. This game doesn’t need SAB, Devs should work on other stuff.
Nobody likes underwater combat and the funny thing is, all these people asking for it will prolly be the ones to play it the least or come on the forums upset nobody is doing the underwater levels. It’s not a fun playstyle, it’s obnoxious and it’s not for everyone, some skills for underwater combat are just garbage and some builds won’t work for it.
Doesn’t anet count how many accounts they have and not active accounts?
As we all know traps are weak and unreliable and work better on rangers because their range calls for someone to come to them and they can just stand there shooting arrows. Thief is a a more mobile class and like fighting any assassin type there could be traps everywhere.
Changes should be traps are instant cast on a target enemy, 900 range. Traps would take a second to activate, with a red circle under the target, giving the target a chance to dodge. Being instant cast would mean enemy players would need to watch their surroundings. In pve they would be more reliable and able to do as intended.
Trap changes
Ambush is no longer a trap you set but rather summons a thief to fight with you.
All summoned thieves have similar armor to what you’re wearing.
New trap skill,
Bomb, places a bomb at the feet of a target after a second the bomb goes off if an enemy is present and explodes, causing heavy damage and bleeding. It will count as a blast finisher with an explosive radius of 240. Only if a target is next to the bomb after a second. This would give thief more aoe power, a blast finisher pve without switching to bow mid combat and punish mindless zerglings.
Shadow Trap reworked, with how traps work now this trap would be changed to allow instant teleporting to trap after setting it and reaching the target and curing 1 condition or if the trap is set off by enemy/player, cures three conditions and cripples the target for a short time. This allows for a quick condi clear and way to attack your enemy or saved to use on an enemy that burnt out their dodges and punish a condi stacking class.
All traps could have their damage increased and radius increased if successfully executed. With this new design players could sneak up on enemies and stack traps and set them off pve/pvp (if the player is careless)
They’re useless pve they need..
1. cleave
2. better activates
3. better hp/evade mechanics and not this crappy LOL just switch nonsense
4. elimination of family types, all pets get same base stats and you can stat they as you want, ie zerker/cleric etc
5. Pets can use any skills currently for pets
6. ooc phase, pets cannot attack but take no damage therefore letting you travel without picking up added mobs
7. pets gain defensive abilities based on your proximity, away from your pet grants a dodge bonus to all attacks, near your pet it gains toughness.
8. ascended scaling
9. pve aoe damage reduction
10. buffs pets give have bigger aoe and can be activated.
