2 handed axes in no way are the same as a Greatsword, an axe is a penetrating and control weapon with the ability to be great burst. The only problem with large axes is they’re not as good defensively as Greatswords but offer much better offensive capability.
yeh because owning a level 80 alt without knowing how to play it is really useful
Well it’s a good thing that when you reach 80 it’s not game over. Really doesn’t help that while leveling up you only learn a few tricks of your class because open world pve is easy and yet there are only a few lower level dungeons in which most of the time lower levels get kicked, unless with friends.
I find once you hit 80, the levels come fast which is backwards to how it should be.
ETOM is bad because winning on it matters little, the random NPCs hold no tie to anything on your server, it’s just random mobs. It looks pretty but that’s about it.
I’d also like to see VIP only areas and arenas and VIP only access to WVW siege weapons etc.
If you want free loot with no effort, then interactive games like Guild Wars 2 are not for you. In fact, there is a classic MMO that should suit your purposes just fine: Progress Quest. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progress_Quest)
How does asking for rewards that match the difficulty mean people just want something for nothing?
I’m not qualified to comment on EotM, as I’ve barely explored that map. However, regarding the Queensdale “train”, I can confidently claim that it now does give suitable rewards that match the difficulty level.
(If the content is very easy, the matching reward should be a small one. Champion loot bags are too big a reward for 3 seconds of auto-attacking.)
I only liked the champ train for doing monthly or getting a little exp. I do agree with the bag thing. It as too much.

I’m confused as to why people want the ETOM train gone, it hurts nothing.. if you want to wvwvw go play a real map. I find it funny that there is always a group within this game that wants to force people to play it their way. You’re all the same, bunch of self entitled whiners who think your way is right. GW2 community is terrible, even WoW didn’t have this level of angst and people trying to force everyone to march in a line.
But alas, trains are bad, people should have to be forced to do harder content for lesser rewards and it’s all for the greater good. Why don’t you people take that in and think about a certain type of people you sound like.
Haters gonna hate, I guess.
Guess so, had an argument with someone who was braggin about shutting down the QD train and how they would kill champs to bait people into getting mad and then report them. I was appalled by this behavior.. seriously killing a champ is fine but bragging about it so you can goad people into getting mad? Talking smack to them to get them to swear so you can hit the report button? This is what our community is now, bunch of people trolling each other and thinking that what they do is good.
I’ve played MMOs for a long time and never seen this kind of behavior, this game has the worst community of any game out there and it’s not just one group it’s all of them.

There are dragons in this game? Besides zhaitan the others seem to do nothing. Think Scarlet has done more than they have. The Centaurs seem to be a more bigger threat than these imaginary dragons.
I haven’t got my chest.. so means no skins? That sucks.. I got the meta for it weeks ago.. 10/10
and then 1 month later China realize there is no end game in gw2…
PvE is never the “end game” in any MMO.
PvE cannot retain players for 10 years. It is stagnant and has a very low skill ceiling (low self improvement). GW2 PvE skill ceiling: Stack in corner, stack might, zerk/FGS it to death. There is nothing more to learn for PvE past this.
PvP in every MMO has always been the “end game”.
PvP has the potential to retain players for 10 years as long as the company looks after it. PvP is different every time you log in, you always face something new, it is always unpredictable. PvP also has an unlimited skill ceiling (unlimited self improvement).
I’ll say it again, PvP is the end game in MMO’s, not PvE.
What? I was in a top raiding guild when I played WoW and PVE WAS the main goal. In fact most things were based on pve raids.
Aside from difficulty, raiding is no different to any other PvE content.
- Find optimal set ups, then;
- “Run this build, use this group composition”
- Repeat monotonyIt’s the same for GW2 dungeons, same for GW1 DOA/UW/FoW/Urgoz/Deep.
PvE is low skill cap, and relatively stagnant once solved.
Without PvP, MMO’s don’t last long. Imagine WoW without PvP, and only having PvE…. yeah, dead.
Nobody went to WoW for pvp, you have mobas for pure pvp type stuff. Sure arena is popular but WoW raids are what get it’s costumers and world firsts are huge there. PvE is no where near low skill cap lol. Some hard modes are only doable by some of the best guilds and players.

Thanks for the support! No I wouldn’t join a speed clear dungeon with a mace.. that sounds pretty tacky. I do wish shield was better. Shield skills just lack so bad.
In my eyes the issue is that GW2 has so much potential, but the devs are not getting the best out of it. This leads to people being frustrated, but not enough to leave the game. As a result, people whine (as do I).
Furthermore, GW2 is aimed at casual gamers, and those are the worst when it comes to whining. They always feel entitled to everything and complain when things are “too hard” (while most PvE content is as easy as can be) and they feel entitled to getting the rewards anyway, so instead of improving, they whine.
Then there’s the bugs, the lack of keeping promises, and sometimes just flat out idiotic mistakes made by the devs.
Wasn’t casuals who asked for ascended gear or dungeons to be worked over to the point people that are the level for that dungeon are kicked.
Exploring gets old, esp even more so when some areas aren’t obvious and you’ve done all the hearts or you move slow.
Anyone says that, “Satisfied people don’t say anything.” “Haters are the loudest etc” are foolish. Most people who are unhappy or unsatisfied rarely say it, they just stop buying or shopping at the area. This is basic retail knowledge. To say everyone will complain is complete nonsense. Also haters are the loudest? Hypers are the loudest, they say how good something is and won’t shut up about it. Look at people who talk about certain shows/products and sports stars.
When you first get the game, GW 2 is a breath of fresh air with lots of potential, then you play through it and realize the end game is non-existent and getting certain things are pointless grinds and the LS and PS are meh at best. I still enjoy the game but I get burnt out easy because there is so much they could do with the game but it feels like you’re on a treadmill with locked skills and must have utilities.
It doesn’t have to be good… it just has to be UNIQUE to the birthday gift,
/peers over glasses
You really expect them to make 4 million+ unique items?
Adjust your foggy faux intellectual glasses.
It’s probably too late to bring in mob AI to exit combo fields and aoe now. The game is designed for players to be fighting in fields with combo finishers. It won’t be the same if the mobs run out of those fields so the combos hit thin air. Some weapon sets, like thief offhand pistol, will become instantly broken. AOE fields shouldn’t become become barriers or fear zones that keep mobs out.
Combo fields and finishers are the reason why some classes aren’t wanted in PvE and why some excel in pvp. It was a bad mistake to put these things in.
I think a lot of stuff is difficult for the anet team because a lot of it was prolly done by a previous team.
I want my AI skynet smart. i want to see cities burn and players scattered to the wind.
It should be marvelous fun, we’ll get Sylvari pale tree lore and Sylvari heroes to save us! Mayhaps even a Sylvari villain because none of the other races matter except as cannon fodder.
Gotta ask why you’re sticking two fingers up at the camera? You know 2 fingers that way round is an insult, right?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the book!
If I recall right it’s an insult to the French that the English used during the 100 years war. English longbowmen were a bane to the French and would often chop off those two fingers because they were used to draw back the string. So Englishmen would hold up those two fingers as an F-you to the French. I’m not 100% sure.
I been feeling guilty..I’ve built a burn blocking build with a mace..I like the healing and symbol it has and the blocking attack. I feel guilty because everyone says it’s a crap weapon but it’s one of the few I like. =/
Something tells me you need gold event during boss fights event to have change on the recipe, that is only way I can see why so few are available…
good…..they need to start rewarding competence.
Come off your high horse. I don’t have anyone to try the event with for gold and even if I did there are still too many undergeared randoms etc. The only way gold works is if the map is full of well geared and well seasoned people which most of the people in game are not.
Lol, that’s how most people look. I try to make looks that tell a story etc.. I had a look based around wings of dwayna but everyone and their mom has that back piece and it’s always with the tackiest looking stuff. So i just stopped wearing it.
Permeating wrath is great but I feel it’s in the wrong tree. If it was in the Radiance tree you’d see a lot more burning guardians but it’s in a odd tree choice. I’ve been experimenting using mace/focus with burn on block. I have had pretty good luck with it, esp mace 3 with the counter attack + burning the target.
You won’t find much light armor that fights a norn well. Whispers top/legs and Arah light gear looks pretty good.
I had 25k hp in orr and pavilion etc.. now I have 23k after going to zephyr place.. dunno what’s going on.
This community is getting pretty ridiculous, everything people ask for other people complain: housing, mounts, marriage system. It amazes me how close-minded you people are.
It amazes me how many people ask for pointless stuff to be implemented that has zero benefit for the game, no lore function for it and serves as a way for more complaints, drama and grief to occur. This isn’t a sim game, want marriage? Go play sims, second life or invu or whatever it’s called. This isn’t even a solid RP mmo, sure some people RP but that’s no reason to put in the game. I RP and dislike the idea of marriage in game.
It’s not closed minded at all, it’s a bad idea plain and simple. I don’t want to see political, racial, ethnic or RL cultural nonsense in game and sure as hell don’t want to see marriage in it. There are other games for marriage play and nobody is stopping you from RPing it out but making it a part of the game isn’t needed.
I’ve yet to see a coordinated QP yet. A few friends told me they got it once or twice but more often then not you won’t get it. DPS will be slow on some due to under levels and some not in dps gear. My guild is wvw and they have no interest in the events.
NO. This has come up before and like the race change idea this should never happen and it’s not needed.
Now you’re going to have the TP flippers and so called skilled elitists crying to shut down all trains.
So you have a choice.
Run Arah p2 in 20 minutes, get 5 champ bags4 boss chests, 3.31g and 26 tokens.
OR
Run the pavilion boss event for 8 minutes, get 6 (?) champ bags and some karma.
6 champ bags? What? Those champions never dropped bags just the reward bag at the end and that has 2 bags in it not 6 and it takes much much longer than 8 minutes.
I’m offering the comparison of basically the most ideal blitz reward and time so as opposed to just doing Arah p2. Most of the time it takes a lot longer, so yeah it’s more like 30 minutes for 2 champ bags.
I once had a cat named maha
Most people wanted an easy way to blow off steam, level some alts and get some bags. This is why I liked the Scarlet event in Lion’s Arch…I could skip the knights and Scarlet and still get champ bags with aethers etc and do other events. With this you cannot, you’re stuck with people unsure, confused and feeling bored and then you get jerks telling people to sod off and then complaining the people they tell to sod off get credit.
There is no winning, this community is toxic from the trolls down to the holier than thou pros and their self righteous rhetoric of how the game should truly be. I feel like a lost person in a big tent full of preachers yelling at me different things and telling me which is the right way to live.
I noticed people are “Thankful” that t6 mats won’t be lowered in price because it “upsets” the market. I find making something needing 200 ancient bones costing 100g is silly. Not to mention why do these people want a monopoly? I find that’s it’s usually the most “PC” people worried about prices going down while in RL they prolly support occupy wallstreet, free health care and distribution of wealth.. but oh NO you will no touch their hold on the GW 2 economy with getting t6 mats from bags.
The Queen’s Pavilion will be great once all the people who came to zerg up, mash 1, and collect tons of loot leave.
I haven’t done the Queen’s Pavilion yet. Everyone says the loot is very meager. After people have gotten the Living Story achieves what will keep them coming back and playing there? What will keep it full so that the late comers to this can also get their achieves? Are the boss fights so fun and rewarding that people are going to keep returning for that? What will be so great about it after so many have left?
Absolutely nothing.
Now let’s wait for that white knight posting that we shouldn’t play for reward. The rewards will be much better when the players doing the content are better. 45m for 2 champ bags and a green is obviously terrible. But if you can get the, what, 8 for gold? In less than 8 minutes? That’s much better.
The problem right now is that the player base is doing it wrong.
Your quote “The Queen’s Pavilion will be great once all the people who came to zerg up, mash 1, and collect tons of loot leave” is very “interesting”. You didn’t say anything about it being great if/when they learned how to play better, just it will be great when they are gone.
I guess these people will come in, get their achieves and go, leaving you and a few others in happy isolation there. Farming the champs over and over again while simultaneously patting yourself on the back for not being a member of the zerg. Not a pretty picture.
The game must revolve around these types. They’ll only feel good when it’s just a small group of know it alls on the map. I’m sure that’s what anet wants, talk about champ trains being toxic, these guys are no better.
The Queen’s Pavilion will be great once all the people who came to zerg up, mash 1, and collect tons of loot leave.

The problem is that there is no winning unless you beat it with people who know what they’re doing and without people chevo hunting. Except it’s often people like your ilk who yell at people trying to help to go away and then have the gall to call out people who do then come back to tag to get credit because that’s all they did is tag. So really what are people supposed to do when it’s filled or need chevos?
So, paying 50s-1g to get back 50s-1g after 30 minutes of frustrating fighting with zerg-minded people who cannot read boss description is fun?
Okay…
Only 30 minutes? Consider yourself very lucky. I was in an instance last night that took over 90 minutes to finish a blitz, and it wasn’t due to people simply not understanding the mechanics.
Don’t tell timmy that, it seems where he is from they do it in less then 8 minutes with everyone getting their chevos etc.. it must be the land of milk and honey where the streets are paved with gold and people only die from old age surrounded by loved ones.
So you have a choice.

That’s because you’re getting the Bronze reward because you didn’t do it fast enough.
Oh where might thou art be so I can join you on your server were everything flows so well with so few people?
I wish every single in the event in this game could be styled just like the Crown Pavilion. Obviously the vast amount of negativity is unwarranted. We don’t need rewards, it’s way more fulfilling to pay gold and then bank your hopes on a bunch of random players having a clue on how to anti-zerg in order to achieve the maximum rewards. This is totally awesome game design. #Hype
My favorite thing is they make it anti-zerg then add in chevos for killing # of mobs and bosses..annnnnd it’s on a megaserver so what are people supposed to do? Wait around for these groups to kill all the bosses then tag at the end? Oh wait, then you’ll have people crying that people are standing around and tagging mobs at the last minute and taking THIER reward. BUT if those same people try to help the boss scales so wildly it takes forever to kill..
Hell even Anet is now giving advertisements about selling gold for gems. —-
This is one thing that is beginning to leave a bad taste in my mouth. It’s kind of sickening the way they advertise it.
Why? They aren’t whispering every minute.
No, the gold sellers are though.
So you have a choice.

I was under the impression Dungeons were the anti-zerg of the game? Open world is zerg so everyone can get loot and get credit, sure it’s not perfect but it was great for people who enjoy zerging or people who don’t have much in the way of time. I’m afraid the people who dislike zergs are small and will find themselves alone soon if this keeps up being unrewarding.
Given the abysmal quality of the Living Story, what makes people think that an expansion will be any better? I don’t need an expansion’s worth of horrible writing and embarrassingly bad lore.
Because an expansion would absolutely warrant the writing of Ree Soesbee, and considering reactions to just her being the one to mention this next season of LS says volumes about how people feel about her writing ability.
The LS was written badly, as for the rest of the game I find it pretty neat with all it’s lore.
Travelers feels like a must on Guardian.. I hate having to stand in staff 3 to gain full duration of swiftness. -.-
Pretty sure WoW has vastly bigger numbers of players compared to GW2. GW2 is a pretty good mmo, I enjoy it but it’s far from perfect in a market where many have tried to topple WoW’s domain and have failed.
I have 6 80’s after leveling that, it gets harder to level. At 80 is where you can finally complete your build and work on your look, anything before that is just tedious grinding.
