So played all the classes most to 80 and kinda bored of game. I am deciding to make a Ranger because I had one to 40 but deleted because people hated them and I’ve given up on dungeons or just run with my warrior so don’t care. I want a short bow build for general pve/wvw will not be doing dungeons so anti ranger/LOL Melee only dungeon rhetoric people can go take a hike.

Have you tried creating your own adverts on the LFG tool?

I like doing dungeons the same way you do, actually doing the full thing instead of skipping most of it and then stacking in a corner spamming skills for the rest. If I don’t see a group that appeals to me I make my own advert and they always fill up quickly, a few minutes at most.

Sadly according to people here it’s the proper way to play the game.

Achievements are way too easy

Sunshine.4680

I remember the Devs talking about the high difficulty of the achievements for this new living story and that not everyone can do them.
So now I’m here to tell you that this didn’t happen, the Achievements are
WAY TOO EASY, none challenged me, even without a guide at release, I completed every single one on my first try, except the NO TRICKS one – the fail caused by a
bug.

So PLEASE make it more challenging, I play the story, enjoy it for ~1hour, (it really got good now in Season 2) then replay it for the achievements ~1hour – then I end up having nothing to do than grind for Geodes, go back to PvP or WvW.
Stand to your words and make some Achievements REALLY hard, so only 1% or less of the players will manage to complete them, even Crown Pavillion Liadri was too easy.

But a huge + for don’t giving us grind achievements, I liked them, because they gave me something to do, but at the same time I hated them because they where so boring xD.

I want something I need hours and hours to complete, even if it’s just one achievement

Anyone else feeling so?

Edit: Added a strawpoll

By any chance, do you hate the devs? Do you simply want to see them unemployed? See, if they follow your advise, then the devs would all be unemployed. Why would they be unemployed? Because by following your advise, 99% of the players would be ignored. Do know what happens when you ignore 99% of your players? They leave. GW2 loses income, devs get laid off.

This is why the devs develop for the majority of their players. They would rather lose the 1% of players that you speak for, than lose the 99% that you speak against.

1% trying to rule over the 99%.. swear I seen this somewhere before where a small group of people try to force everyone else to do what they want because they have all the time, money and “skill”.

Warriors are the absolute perfect pve class, even good in pvp/wvw. They’re just a well put together class and that it makes other classes less appealing. But the major drawback is the fun factor, not everyone wants to be Superman.

If anything the devs should look at the warrior and add some of those features to the other classes to bring them up to par.

Katana greatsword skin?

I hope you DO realise that katanas are ONE-handed weapons, right?

No need to be upset mate – I meant one-handed in the terms of this skin. Other classes could benefit from this weapon if ArenaNet both made a Greatsword skin and a normal one-handed sword skin using this model.

4 classes can use greatswords, but even more classes can use a regular one-handed (including thiefs, mesmers, rangers, guardians, and with warrior you could dual wield dual katana’s)!!

Don’t listen to them. We do need Katanas.. we have all these Canta styled clothing and costumes but no weapons. Makes zero sense.

Great idea but doubt it will happen. Look at most females in the game, look at Jory and Kas and how they portray them. One flirts with everyone to the point where you think she’s slept with most of DR, the other jokes about being naked under her illusion clothing, both are very pretty, their story of coming together was pretty forced and didn’t flow well. But we all know if they had made it two guys, people would have been like EWWW!

This is how game developers are, when it comes to females, they’re either eye candy, getting saved, kissing each other or running around in skimpy armor. Nothing is going to change either, if ever when it comes to gaming.

Maybe the problem is too many boons, might stacking and stacking in general and some classes making bosses/dungeons jokes. Maybe that is what really needs to be looked at seeing how the meta players are so rabidly against anything new. Makes me wonder why?

People say ranged is a crutch yet isn’t Zerker gear wearing, melee stacking burning down the boss asap pretty much a crutch? After all you’re just burning down the boss asap so you won’t have to really do much other than burn down an HP punching bag.

Sure doesn’t help players to pigeon hole them into a boring way of playing to simply satisfy the needs of the forum meta worshipers. This is why I leveled a warrior to 80 so when I do dungeon I can just go in and kill and that’s it so I don’t have to deal with the constant meta this or meta that rants.

Yes prot hamer guards are pretty popular. same with firefield might stacking.

I don’t think anyone is saying it’s wrong to do stuff out of order. People are saying it’s wrong to do stuff out of order specifically to annoy someone, and it’s particularly wrong to give them grief about it after.

Obviously anyone can do any event they want. That’s not really the issue as I see it.

There used to be a person that would camp bandit champ when QD champ was up and antagonize people in map chat over it, then claim they were helping the game by “ending the train” these are the types of people that need a serious banhammer to the face. Trolling people just to kitten them off and then report anyone arguing with you is how these types work, yet some people don’t have an issue with this. Least you’re a decent person.

The person meleeing and dying is always better since at least they’re trying to learn the fights. I made an ele, leveled them within like 3 hours, and immediately went full glass cannon. Going from playing classes like Mesmer and warrior meant I’ve died and I need to learn the limits of my class but I can guarantee you I’ve done more dps than the groups I’ve joined – I did arah story, and when I died the bloated creeper actually started out healing the four other players in the party. Once they got me back up I was able to finish the fight with them. Like I honestly don’t think you realise how large the difference is between melee and ranged dps. You can already play ranged anyway, just don’t expect it to be even close to optimal.

Nobody is arguing for Ranged to be superior, just for an option in dungeons. As i said many bosses have ranged attacks and there is not taunt feature so ranged players are still at risk. They also wouldn’t get the short ranged heals/condi removal from other classes, just the boons. Besides dungeons are pretty much guard hammer prot spam and fire field might stack spam anyways. totally skillful! It’s just better for some people to play how they feel most comfortable than to force people into a style they simply aren’t effective with.

I really don’t think that removing the range factor would be a good idea. But boosting it to like 2000, 1500, 1000 range? Enough so that someone don’t need to be always stacked. Don’t also mean that stacking would be useless. For sPvP, i don’t know. 1000 range seem pretty good, but 2000 seem a bit too range in the small map used in sPvP. And I don’t really like that sPvP and the rest of the game have too much of different rules. So maybe 1000 range would be better.

The point is, its a step toward more diversity in meta build. I like that I can Hammer camp, use GS + Sw/F, or GS + Hammer or GS + Scepter and still do really good dmg (even if GS + Scepter is situational). I would like more good option that feel different. And for ranger its really, really limited. Why not work toward finding a nice for those weapons to make them useful? I would like to see the ranger longbow being one of the best Single Target in the game, while putting a good amount of vulnerability. A Sw/Warhorn + Longbow meta ranger would be nice too see. A longbow build that can actually bring something to the party. Who can be against that?

Anyway, I think that setting the range of boons and buff to something like 1000 range would bring a bit more tactical mobility, while not removing the fact that you need to stay relatively close to your teamates.

Could just make it so the changes only work in pve/dungeons and not spvp or wvw.

If we’re just talking about the OP here – It seems to me that he is crying over the antagonizing that you mention AND that people are doing it “out of order”.

I see that but I got that he/she is more upset about people bragging about it and then in turn doing it so they can troll map chat for the purpose of being annoying.

Most classes have a melee way to play them yes but it doesn’t mean it’s always as effective or fun for those said classes. By your logic theives, d/d ele and dps guards should be complaining that Warriors have more survivability without giving up much of their DPS since they’re all doing melee. Someone ranging doesn’t take away anything at all from those melee classes because they’re going to be doing less damage. But what’s better, someone who can range and stay up 100% of the time and avoid boss agro? Or someone who isn’t very good at melee, gets cleaved a lot, goes down and ends up doing less damage?

As I said, taking the range off won’t make ranged DPS zomgwtf over melee DPS, just let those players actually help their group with boons and someone if they do not get hit with boss attacks, (Even though most bosses have ranged attacks) to help support and get people up if there is an accidental screw up. Pve already punishes some classes for having too much condi type damage or lack of buffs in general.

All this would do is open up the option for people to play at ranged if they want.

EoTM is hit and miss, no good team/commander in there at the time and you’re coming out with 0 dragonite. Dry Top shoudl always get you some, mix in some world bosses and yeah, lots of dragonite. I’ve gotten at least 3 stacks of dragonite so far from dry top just casually messing around in there when I’m bored.

Commanders are useless there, especially in the mindless zerg that is the major feature there. The Commanders that no nothing about team play but know everything about grinding.

Commanders are far from useless there if they “know” what the best routes are etc. I’ve done some etom and came up with tons of loot and ore/frags and had a blast. No commander = crummy eotm and better to just leave it.

A part of me wishes that a separate thread were created to discuss what is or is not “griefing”, and whether it can or should be reported. Why, you ask? Because I’m getting a strong impression from this thread, from a majority of these posts, that the players that are choosing to do Steam Ogre first are the griefers being mentioned or hinted at.

Most of them are not.

One could just as easily accuse the OP of griefing for creating this thread, am I wrong? “The people around me each day aren’t playing how I want them to, kill champs in the order I demand them to, so I’ll just go to the forums and bash them.”

Believe he was talking about people purposely locking up the event, then bragging about in map chat. Why should you be able to chill out at 1500 range and get as many boons as everyone else up in the boss’ face in melee? You’re at no risk, they are, you don’t deserve to receive any of their boons. You’re taking ‘play how you want’ out of context just like everyone else in this forum, anet haven’t said anything about how you should be allowed to chill at max range and be rewarded for afk pewpewing bosses.

Well that’s just silly talk. Ranger has an effective long range play to it. If you roll a melee based class than playing in melee makes sense. Besides most players in game just stack and use the environment to bypass boss abilities anyways. Many bosses have ranged attacks and melee already gets a bonus to it’s damage as is. Melee is rewarded for it being melee while ranged is penalized at pretty much every turn in pve. So i don’t see how having someone at range be more effective than they are now is at all holding down the melee types.

Killing champs or mobs isn’t a bad thing but killing just to annoy people and gloat to them is harassment. I don’t get why people do not see this, are we as a society so enamoured with trolls that we think this behavior is okay because it’s in the confines of a game? I guess social media harassment and antagonizing people with no way to retaliate is simply just fine and dandy because it doesn’t effect you.

Sword/wh is the best DPS but not if the player isn’t effective at it. Let’s be real here some people will excel at your meta nonsense and perfect play. Those people already have hardcore groups they go with. some people just play better ranged or mid ranged or like the type. Right now the way to dungeon is pretty much stack, boon spam and go along your way only really using a few classes in the game.

That’s boring. taking off boon range at least in pve/dungeons would help players play their own way without denying boons from their group. Just because a certain weapon set is effective doesn’t mean everyone will be effective with it or even like it. So why deny people wanting to play a certain style? What harm would it do?
