Some of us players have real complaints with broken skills, trait system hampering alt leveling and some pvp changes. Not all of it is gloom and doom if it’s backed up by facts.

Been playing on and off since release, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I’ve had some fun with the game, but my time is through so I’ll leave my final bit of feedback.

1) Too many nerfs in the patch. These itemization and stat changes really needed to be done before people sunk hundreds of hours into farming for their ascended gear. The class balance changes should have been pushed off until after seeing the effects of the stat changes; a bunch of builds feel double nerfed.

2) Very little permanent content additions since release.

3) Fractals are one of the few major additions and many of them are still plagued with huge problems.

4) WvW never lived up to its potential. Was a huge selling point pre-launch but didn’t receive enough support post-launch to make it a viable endgame activity in its own right. I played DAoC for years and this is no DAoC. Not even close.

WvW is great, and it still has a lot of potential. But to execute on its potential, it first must be balanced, because coverage isn’t balance. But finding a fix for coverage is a lot more difficult than it seems.

Also, this is a feature patch, not a content patch, and was advertised as a feature patch for a very long time, so you can’t be upset about having no content.

WvW is fun but it’s a massive zerg fest. It should be groups of 5-15 people fighting and trying to gain land, take footholds and work together. Right now it’s swiftness, run to point, cap it, loot supplies, move around the map, take whatever is open with a zerg down, leave it, let stuff get capped then retake it back.

WvW should be where you want to lose nothing, where every person/place held means something, no point in even guild claiming most areas or upgrading.

Reasons you don't like the new patch.

glitched display of stats:
most of my characters get shown as having 1000 power, yet that’s less than what they gain from armour and rune sets. They do decent damage, however it looks as if rune, armour and sometimes weapon sets stats do not get displayed
Missing dailies:
dailies when they got merged, got squashed down. Less to choose from
Implementing boss timers, but not the megaserver at the same time:
Maw in Underworld failed, not because we ran out of time, but because the timer ended on a different server
Glitched bosses:
shadow of behemoth for example is unkillable because the portals spawn as friendly
the new UI:
Eeeeh. Eeeew!
trait changes:
leveling new alts is going to be a pain, so I won’t bother anymore.

There’s things that I like in the update, but for now all of the glitches are ruining it for me. The waypoint prices got increased, but I can’t make money, because by the time I log in there’s no more dungeons being run, so I can only do world bosses, but they’re really glitchy at the moment! Maybe I’ll wait a few weeks until everything hopefully gets fixed.

Dungeon path limiting. That’s so awful! Well I suppose no running anything besides Arah now. Because what’s the point of doing anything than the most profitable one? Before you could have done 3 runs of CoF or two runs of AC to get the same amount of money and waste the same amount of time. Now? Nope, one path of Arah. That makes me want to quit to be honest. I enjoyed doing dungeons. Oh well. Wildstar here I come! (And World of Warcraft instead of Guild Wars 2 for now)

I’m an altaholic and the new trait system makes me mad. My warrior is 32, the 25% movement speed boost was great, now lost that and all the added stats I had from power tree and pretty much am slow until I get the next 5 traits, which is like 46? That’s complete garbage.

Reasons you don't like the new patch.

Broken Mesmer is broken
undyable town clothes tonics with time limits.

Not broken at all Shan – more fixed than broken.

The problem is Critical damage DID NOT scale and some were OP in that. The ‘Zerker’ meta was not supposed to be so OP that you only play that. Other builds are now viable and some more so than ‘Zerker’.

I also noticed that they seemed to fix the condition damage problem in PvE. That means conditions on you in PvE will be the same.

The game needed a little shaking up – people were complacent.

I’m confused, there are a lot of mesmer bugs including some of the “fixed” bugs still not working right so I’m confused as to who you’re speaking for? Yourself or everyone? Because the mesmer forum has a pretty big list of bugs.

New armour . . .

It looked good on the site, then I saw it ingame and decided not to buy it. It’s just another variation on a theme we have way to many off.

Now, if they made an actual robe for females, I’d buy it in a flash (even after the town clothes debacle, go figure).

I’ve been wanting a really nice looking robe for my Necro or Ele except there isn’t anything like that for the females at all. I wouldn’t even mind if it showed some bust as long as it was classy looking.

I have to agree, I don’t like either. The male gear is boring, and the female gear is insulting when put next to the male gear.

If Anet is so progressive as to have homosexual relationships, can’t they treat women with more dignity? At least the paragons of GW1 were equal in their revealing armor designs between the genders.

Well their only homosexual relationships I’ve noticed are between attractive females.

Good work, Anet!

Yes with on death clone traits and IE now working it means more condis and buffs for you or group with staff clones up. Staff clones are already the best clones and this will make them even better. I use IE now and in PvP and PvE it adds DPS because it bounces to target, back to you and then target again, now with clones doing this it should be vastly easier to apply conditions and boost DPS.

Of course there will be a lot of crying about it or OP claims some coming from people who hate staff in all regards but find this to be OP, hilarious.

“And we are only available in Europe, North America and Australia. We haven’t launched in China, Korea, Russia, Southeast Asia, Brazil – many of the world’s biggest PC gaming hotbeds are places that the game is not yet even available.

Source. So it looks like Russia may get a localization after China and Korea are rolled out.

not enough russians are playing this game to invest money into translation.

There are several sites which tell us that a Russian fanbase exists. There’s a fair amount of Russian guilds at Piken Square, and I see clearly Russian names every now and then. I even remember a party where all players turned out to be Russians:)

That said, despite being a Russian player, I wouldn’t have used a Russian server even if it had been launched because Russian gaming communities tend to be toxic. As for the Russian language, Russian voice-overs are generally awful, and I would’ve used the original sound and UI anyway since English is a de facto international language and it naturally receives most attention.

Most games I’ve played with a russian player base has been toxic and bad. I don’t know why that is.

Twilight of the Dark Sylvari: Maguuma expansion, featuring a new Dark Sylvari race and a Druid profession accessible only to Sylvari and Dark Sylvari. Also, a new campaign centered around an implausibly powerful Sylvari (also features the player character in a recurring comic relief cameo role). Also introduces a new Gem Store item allowing players to change their race (to Sylvari or Dark Sylvari), and a new quest to craft precursors for Tier 4 Legendary Sylvari cultural armor.

You’re forgetting the part where the new enemy can only be effectively fought by the sylvari due to being immune to whatever the enemy does, even though there are cultures that have advanced tech and skills. The humans are never seen within the story, except as bad guys or cannon fodder because who needs humans or their lore?

Clipping issues and because Charr, Charr are the reason we don’t get many armor skins or capes. What they make has to fit all 5 races and Charr, well nothing fits them right because they made them hunchbacks which in concept was cool but in application hinders making any new armor.

Sad thing is then people would whine if they released stuff that didn’t fit Charr too. It’s why they recycle armors.

Staff #2 is basically an evade +block. It’s saved me a lot in boss fights and against random mobs. Staff clones are the most useful clones out there, they actually keep applying conditions while you do other things. I’ve used warlock and duelist with these builds and it works well.

The damage conditions do isn’t to be laughed at but you need the +40% condi food, haven’t used the toxic crystal yet but I may buy the recipe and make my own. It’s sad that condi duration is tied to the power trait line and not some other line.

Would you even WANT a new class/race?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunshine.4680

Sunshine.4680

No to both, I wanted Skritt but now that I realized we’re missing out on some really neat items because of charr I’d rather no new races be added. We’ll always be short on armor because a lot that they could bring over from GW 1 or make will clip on charr and if tengu was ever added, cannot imagine anything would look great on them.

Until they make it that they don’t need armor for all races than nothing will change, people will cry about lack of armor without realizing multi racial selection is the reason why there is no new armor.

Player Marriage

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunshine.4680

Sunshine.4680

Dungeons generally see less play than open world content so no developer resources should be spent on them.

PvP generally sees less play than PvE so no development resources should be spent on it.

New armor sets are not playable content, are only cosmetic, have no impact on balance, etc. and so no development resources should be spent on them.

Right ?

Finally someone understands! If people don’t support it, that’s fine, but why do they have to be so condescending towards anyone that likes the idea? Why do they feel like they deserve their content more than any other people?

That can be applied to anything, why do the few people that want this “marriage” thing feel they deserve to have it in game when other games already offer it or are based around it?

Why must people keep shouting expansion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunshine.4680

Sunshine.4680

Growth is needed for anything to become better. People can say that there is plenty in game to do, which is true but not everyone wants to do all the lil bits and pieces that are often times tedious. Expansion adds a whole new level of content and excitement that people can look forward to and explore. This is why people want new content not temp content which only benefits people currently playing the game who are high lvl.

I’ve never understood the need or desire to have levels, but apparently I’m one of the few that doesn’t get a chubby seeing the number next to my character’s name go up by one.

Levels are great for restricting players and make having alts a chore.

Shouldn’t player progression (experience gained from playing) be more important?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunshine.4680

Sunshine.4680

the most desired classes for “endgame” dungeons are Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist and Mesmer, Thieves and Engineers are situational and most pugs avoid them while Rangers and Necromancers are very undesirable.

There are so many things wrong with this post.

First of all, there is no endgame, since your level changes to match the level of the content you play, so if you’ve never been to Charr starting areas with your lv80 Sylvari, you can go there and enjoy it with matched level.

Then, dungeons is not endgame. The gear you can get from them is endgame (if we don’t count ascended tier), but the same gear can be acquired from either Orr temples or the trading post.

Where your personal skills and acquired gear really matter, is a magical place of WvW. That is endgame – not for me, but objectively for everyone.

You’re wrong, he’s right. High level fracts don’t want Necros or Rangers.

While there is some pretty out there complaints, complaints are good. People complain in different ways, trying to stop people from complaining because in your world everything is sunshine and rainbows is faulty thinking. When you work with customers you have to take a lot of what’s said with a grain of salt.

The thing is Anet has flip flopped on a lot that they said and haven’t fixed long term bugs etc. People tend to be more irate when they want something so bad yet all they see are empty promises. Think of it this way, you’re having a meal, your toast is overcooked.. not a big deal but let’s say you get the meal, they miss half of it, they give you the wrong refill, the food is cold etc etc.. suddenly that toast is a major deal. So expect some pretty angry complaints.

What server should I transfer to?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sunshine.4680

Sunshine.4680

TC is a 50/50 server. There are some good aspects of it but I can tell you that at times it gets overcrowded and can be a pain to get things done at times. The server has some nice people, it’s active and in wvw it’s rather nice in there, I’ll list reasons not to join TC though since you’re going to want to know the bad..

1. Trolls, TC is pretty much like these forums, at anytime map chat etc can erupt into a troll fest full of idiots taunting each other and playing the devil’s advocate. It can be awful at times, anywhere crowded is usually bad, Queensdale, DR, LA etc. Prepare to be flamed by hardcore fanbois and dubious haters.. both are equally bad.

2. RP.. while RP is fun etc, it’s annoying when you’re trying to have a convo and you get spammed with terrible emotes or local chat.. and because for some reason emotes have such a HUGE radius.. you’ll get bombarded with them at times. It’s usually terrible stuff too. This happens a lot in certain areas not all of the server is like this.

3. Overly sensitive weirdos, TC has a problem with these types of people, while most consider them trolls.. I consider them crazy people who all gathered to TC for whatever reason, they cannot take jokes.. always offended and are usually rude. They scan the map chat looking to cry about everyone and everything that doesn’t fit with how or who they are.

4. Elitists, these guys are pretty rampant on TC. Prepare to have any build questions you have followed up with troll responses to authentic questions, they worship the meta and aren’t afraid to swear at you, kick you from party or point out how stupid they think you, your build or suggestion/complaint is.

5. Annoying discussions, while this may seem covered in my other pointers.. it takes a whole new level depending on who it is, watch in amazement as someone offers friendly advice, a suggestion or even a greeting and see it be transformed into something bad because someone didn’t like it or wants to make it about them.

6. The Guilds.. while many RP, Casual, life style guilds can be friendly the other members are equally if not obnoxiously rude. Where as sometimes you’ll meet some of the most interesting people who are friendly you’ll get rude obnoxious behavior from people who are supposed to be part of a “tolerant and friendly” guild.

I’ve been on TC for several months now and can say it’s a bitter sweet experience and have had much better times on small servers because the smaller the mob, the less likely they are to cause problems. I’ve made good friends on TC and watched friends quit or move servers because of it.

Also on a lighter note, you’ll see a lot of hypocritical trolls, breaking up champ trains etc and bragging about it, even making guilds dedicated to it and screwing up monthly groups etc, then these people get into LA and cry about how the zergs etc aren’t doing their part. TC is like the springer show at times.

What confuses me is dagger is a fast attacking weapon yet Siphon on it is a slow drain and #3 has a bleh cast, well not to bad for what it does. Thing is with how fast the dagger is wish Siphon was a DoT + HoT you could curse your target with a physical damage DoT. I also wish the #5 skil for dagger was not a targeted one and fast casting. #4 is great, decent damage, a blind and condi transfer. The #5 skill needs some work, it it was like Ele staff #3, weak damage but an aoe that you didn’t need to aim + instant cast it would be sooo nice.
