Unusual Mesmer Builds

I’ve always wanted to do a Shatter/Heal build, but I just find it so hard to give up Deceptive Evasion, and I don’t think I could ever take Illusionary Persona out of my build no matter what I am going for.

How do you find the lack of Deceptive Evasion is treating you?

Also a question that should be raised whenever talking about any heal trait.. is the heal large enough to be worth it, and/or how much Healing Power do you need for it to be suitable as a heal?

My current setup, while not as different from standard popular builds as a Heal/Shatter build, doesn’t seem all too common. My build started as a more Phantasm focused crit/bleed build, which valued both Toughness for survivability and Power for a little extra front loaded punch… while mixing in some shatter combos (having both decent Power/Cond, both offensive shatters are strong). Through Anet’s adjustments to the Mesmer class, my build has shifted as well, but still keeps the basic concept and play style. I’ve kept the 0/20/10/10/30 traits the entire time, although there has been a whole lot of changes to the major traits there.

But yeah, I receive a whole lot more comments about being a Charr Mesmer making me different than I do about my build making me different.

Rune of Air vs Rune of Centaur

As I’ve gotten better on the mesmer ive drifted away from Air runes to Centaurs because I find I get hit a lot less

If the “when hit” effect of the Runes of Air work the same as the Runes of the Nightmare, then the effect can proc when your illusions are hit as well.

I only used the Nightmare runes for a very short period until I acquired my Centuar runes (TA Rabid armour for the stats), and it became very apparent that illusions getting hit counted as your character getting hit as far as the runes were concerned.

So yes you yourself are getting hit less often, but are your illusions as skillful at avoiding incoming damage?

Exactly, SF and HoD fighting each other does one thing, it makes us both easier targets for BP. And unless it is simply karma farming trains from Orr doing this on SF and HoD servers, I don’t really see why people would choose the “easier” target over the many under defended (but heavily fortified) undisputed winners of the match.

Maybe Sorrow’s bedtime was a factor? Grab some Sorrow’s land and hold it for a bit until BP is finished with the other part of the abandoned Sorrow’s land?

Fractals Disconnection

I haven’t had any issues with disconnecting or crashing in fractals. Not one issue until a couple weeks ago.

Now, whenever the boss in the Jade Maw starts up, I crash. I have done the Jade Maw without issue about 10 or more times before, but as of a couple weeks ago I now always crash.

I don’t crash at any other part of the game, never had an issue with crashing. And it is strange that suddenly it became impossible for me to complete the Jade Maw. Unfortunately this completely halts my fractals progress, as the Jade Maw is at the end of every even level fractal.

I also thought that I saw a decrease in overall performance in GW2 for myself over the same couple weeks when the Jade Maw boss suddenly became a spot where I crash. Was something about the game changed in the last few weeks that might affect performance?.. or perhaps might this be something on my end?

Ok I was wondering maybe if BP got a larger run away lead maybe that would push the other competitors lower or some such.

It is more confusing than anything else when there is big HoD pushes into Sorrows, seeing as how Borlis would be much more overextended and therefore an easier target.. and they are the guys out in first place. Unless playing for second place is somehow rewarded maybe?

So what exactly is HoD trying to do by focusing so much on Sorrow’s Furnace?

At first I just attributed it to small groups of disorganized players with PvE minded farming plans when they have been assisting Borlis against Sorrow’s.

But just recently HoD came into the Sorrow’s borderland and took not only a camp and a tower, but took a keep as well while we were fighting Borlis.

Is there a particular reason for targeting Sorrow’s rather than targeting the more plentiful Borlis Pass? How exactly does the matchmaking system work?… is HoD trying to sabotage the match to try to go further down in the ranks or something?

I’ve never used Moa Morph, even during the beta’s because I don’t feel the skill fits the theme of the Mesmer.

Sometimes when I am lazy, I won’t summon illusions but just beat my enemies down with my sword.

When portal was on a 60 second cool down, I would always have it on my utility bar, even during dungeons and boss fights… it has come in handy twice, one for kiting some boss, and once to help an ally that glitched into the ground mid fight (in combat so he couldn’t waypoint out).

Moss Man

The Moss Man really was an excellent boss. Everything about him, from his introduction to your party which adds an element of fear (Legendary enemy that pops in and out of an area where your party is split up), as well as when you find out that he is a boss ("ok now all we have to do is kill this push over of a tree boss… oh wait… what is this little shack… it can’t be the Moss Man’s shack can it?… uh oh), to his combat style which is much more interesting than a “tank and spank” or “kite and spank” style fight.

I had not considered the adds in that fight as being one of the good things about it, but now that you mention it they are really well done. They don’t steal the spotlight from the Moss Mann, it doesn’t result in the same old, same old strategy of “kill the adds first because they are annoying and the boss still has buckets of HP left”. They are there, they contribute slightly on the bosses side of the fight, gives you something else to pay attention to when the Moss Man vanishes. The adds also give you the opportunity to rally yourself if you go down, which is nice that the boss fight seems to take that important mechanic of the game into consideration.

Yeah, and while you guys talk about Bosses and it’s true, we can’t forget normal mobs!

That is very true. I would love the regular enemies in the world to be interesting as well. I don’t necessarily think that enemies using combo fields would be all that interesting, but them being able to counter you or have other little mechanics would be nice.

What profession would you suggest?

If you are looking to be lore friendly, then any class is open. Charr seem to be what typical fantasy humans generally are, in that they can succeed in any given role, and don’t necessarily have any specialty or weakness. So keep that in mind.

Of course there may be some classes where Charr fit in quiet nicely in comparison to other races. Warrior and Engineer make for great, Iron themed non-magical classes for Charr, and Engineer has the benefit of having “Charr-tech” looking skills (bundles/mines/turrets look like things you would find in the Black Citidel as opposed to Rata Sum or other capitals). Also apparently one of the Charr racial skills gives a nice tool-belt skill (Hidden Pistol).

Short answer: Any class. Although Charr Engineers make for the best Engineers.

Many people loath the simple “enemy has gigantic HP pool”. It makes fights incredibly boring and easy. This game shouldn’t have bosses that you can alt-tab out of and browse on the internet while fighting.

“Hits like a truck”, while more entertaining than “gigantic HP pool”, is still lacking when compared to enemies with actually interesting mechanics, abilities and environments.

Unfortunately combat that is more difficult/interesting than simply bigger/smaller arbitrary numbers seems not to be that popular. Even during the betas enemies were more interesting to fight, especially skill challenges. During BWE1 skill challenges were generally at least a bit difficult (required skill, who would have thought that was required for a “skill” challenge), or even little champions/bosses (Flame Shaman from BWE1).

After the game released I remember seeing videos of people complaining about these nerfs to PvE, including a once difficult skill challenge that can now be completed by simply autoattacking for a few minutes, no evading the incoming damage required since the skill was completely taken out of that skill challenge. Another example being how the Flame Shaman is such a pushover nowadays… rather than having a big combat, where the people involved had to discuss the tactics on how to defend against and defeat this champion, it has turned into a simple “don’t get hit and you win in a few minutes” kind of fight that you can even do as a low level character.

I fear that too many people like boring combat, and that GW2 will prefer to gate content via gear, rather than skill when they do implement gated content. Before I got really into GW2 I remember hearing what I thought was a complete joke, that “MMO players hate fun”… but actually now I see that that joke does have some basis in reality.

I disagree with “using supply”. There are all ready enough incentives for people to raid their own towers and keeps of much needed supplies. We don’t need more incentives for people to act disruptive.

Same thing for a monthly “capture Stonemist” suggestion. I don’t know about everyone else’s server, but over here on Sorrow’s Furnace our team can seemingly be overcome by some crazy thought that Stonemist is the only objective… and then the team sacrifices the entire map just to beat on Stonemists inner keep door for an hour… ignoring everyone that would suggest that attacking Stonemist isn’t worth sacrificing the entire map position.

IMO a monthly achievement to kill the grub would have less of a negative impact on your team than something like “capture Stonemist”.

As for other ideas of “capture x objectives”, there are already more than enough incentives to flip objectives, leaving them undefended just so that you can flip them again. The PvE minded WvW karma trains already have more than enough incentives promoting their tactics, we don’t need to reward these people even more for screwing over their team.

WvW is an team objective game, adding in personal incentives that promote behaviour bad for the team objectives should not be done. A better daily/monthly achievement objective would be something more along the lines of “spend x gold on upgrades”, or “spend x amount of time in WvW”… maybe even “defend x number of objectives”. Or simply make WvW less of a gold sink to make it easier on the dedicated WvWers and the competitive players.

PvE players are crazy, and will blindly do any daily if it helps with getting free gear

Maybe this is not the case, but I was pretty sure that the average skill level in sPvP dropped when they added sPvP dailies. At least that’s what I experienced in my “pre-daily spvp” and “post-daily spvp”. Also, just take a look for threads of people whining about PvP in a PvP zone (WvW jumping puzzles, WvW map completion). These people really are crazy and have major entitlement issues.

We don’t see any risen, branded, icebrood or destroyer moa birds either — does that mean that moa birds are super secret dragon minions too? By all evidence they are immune to dragon corruption as well, the only thing preventing it from being canonical is there’s apparently no one in the lore that’s made such claims yet.

^^ This kind of “evidence” is what the “sylvari are dragon minions!” theory is based in. ^^

Moving on.

Dragon minions cannot be corrupted by other dragons. Hence why there are no risen Icebrood/Branded/Sylvari. Destroyers? Who knows, maybe they are Primordus’s minions. Moa birds?.. I haven’t seen any Risen bunny rabbits either, doesn’t mean that every single creature needs to be accounted for, and it’s not like we know that Moa birds are immune to the dragons’ corruption (like we know for a fact that Sylvari are).

Besides, immunity to the Dragons isn’t the only piece of evidence we are working with here, that would be just silly. There is evidence supporting the theory that Sylvari are Dragon minions all over the game. The Inquest sure have reason to believe that the Sylvari are Dragon minions, or at least that there is a very Sylvari-like Dragon. The Plant Dragon in the Sylvari tutorial, the Nightmare Court, the speed of their reproduction and many, many more pieces of evidence point to the Sylvari being Dragon minions.

No theory could be as popular if it was simply due to one piece of weak evidence such as “I haven’t seen any risen Moas, therefore there is a Moa Elder Dragon”. You are being intentionally obtuse here…….. you… you Sylvari Elder Dragon minion you!

I don’t know about you guys, but I am eagerly looking forward to slay Trahearne on the fields of battle when his Elder Dragon shows up.

Trahearne is obviously the big ploy from the Sylvari dragon. He is not only combined Tyria’s military, science and intelligence leaders all into one centralized (vulnerable) organization, but he is the one that sits at the top and calls the shots. He’s even been a key part to destroying one of his Elder Dragon master’s rivals, as Elder Dragons are all enemies of one another.

Sadly we won’t be able to drive all the Sylvari back to whence they came, as they are a playable race so there needs to be “good guy” Sylvari. But I am sure that there will be plenty of weeds to whack, and seeing how good they are at infiltrating and amalgamating Tyria’s defences, it is going to be a long hard battle filled with a lot of intrigue.

Ok maybe that is more so just wishful thinking that we will get to fight/kill Trahearne, if anything Trahearne will probably just make some dumb line about “blah-blah-destiny, blah-blah-I-can’t-do-it”. And maybe that is more wishful thinking that the Sylvari’s Elder Dragon is going to be all about the subterfuge and giving us a real reason why there was so much haphazard amalgamations of military bodies and surrendering of sovereignty to this New-World-Order

What level do the greens have to be in order for the MF to start spitting out rares when you combine them?

It seems that the Mystic Forge won’t spit out items that are a lower level than the items you put into it. Just playing around with it a bit you can add a couple really low level greens into the mix (increasing the gold:karma ratio) and still “work your way up” to get higher level end products… although this would be risky as a yellow under level 68 is worthless (comparatively to the 68+ yellows who’s price moves along with the price of ecto).

As for how low level is possible for the MF to give you a rare (or any other upgraded rarity for that matter), I’ve never even considered that… since it’s not max stat, unique skins, or selling high on the Trading Post.

If I was going to make a shot in the dark, I’d assume that the the lowest level rare you could MF yourself would be whichever level they otherwise become available.

unless ANet introduces a way that players can convert karma to gold

They probably won’t do this, as you can already convert karma to gold.

Karma vender greens → Mystic forge → level 68+ yellows → ectos

Just with some quick mental calculations, that’d give you about 1 gold per 30k karma at current ecto prices. Should ectos become more expensive, that exchange rate will only become more favourable towards gold.

This also acts as a large potential supply of ectos that will be made available to the market should the prices get up too high, as more and more people may opt for this strategy.

If the improvements were more so from transfers than that would be unfortunate.

Not commenting on this match here, but that would be a terrible trend for WvW transfers if big WvW guilds that ride winning servers simply mass transfer to the bottom server every now and then to get more easy wins. It really kills the sense of community when you get huge influxes, or outflows of guilds to your server.

There are some self propelled artillery (SPG) that you can shoot (not move around). Their minimum range is near the edge of your maximum draw distance, so they demand teamwork (like any long ranged artillery should). They are pretty awesome, and I wish I could have had a large enough group going events in that map to actually be able to use them to support allies. Charr light cultural armor T3 clipping issue

Surbrus.6942

The T3 cultural armour looks like it was designed for a human model, then simply adjusted to fit on a charr. I like the chest piece and the gloves aren’t bad, but the rest of it?

Helm
-removes mane

Shoulders
-weird gap on the back, looks like it was designed for a model with smaller shoulders, and just stretched to fit a charr

Pants
-tail clipping
-the weird frilled skirt look that a lot of light armours have on charr due to the hunched legs

Boots
-look like normal boots holes poked in them for the claws, whereas many of the other charr cultural boots actually look like they were designed for charr feet, and only charr feet
-the gloves also suffer from this, but it doesn’t look as bad on the gloves

(over 100 gold, and it’s not even exotic?)

You don’t buy T3 cultural armour for the stats. The cost is part of the prestige. Prestige and looks is what T3 cultural armours are for… and seeing as how charr cultural armours are only usable by charr, then one would think that they should have been designed for charr alone, and we wouldn’t have to worry about issues that plague our human armour ports.

Not entirely true, depending on how lucky you were with BLCs/Map Completions. I bought 25 Fine Transmutation Stones during the Black Friday sale, but prior to that I already had 5 Fine Transmutation Stones obtained from Black Lion Chests (using keys found purely through drops and quest rewards) and map completions. And none of my characters are even level 50 yet. I have no doubt that by the time I reach level 80 on all my characters, I’d have acquired enough Fine Transmutation Stones for a set or two without any gem purchases at all.

The small amount of free Fine Transmutation Stones don’t have that much of an impact in the grand scheme of things. As for an example with larger sample size, my guild of 10 has only seen about 15 free T-Stones total, amongst a very large number of 80’s.

It’s also not so much a gem sink considering you could simply earn gold in-game and trade that for gems.

Actually it is. Those gems you can by for gold are not generated from the gold, they are purchased from other players. Every gem in the game was purchased by someone, as that is the only way gems are generated. Gems enter the economy by someone paying real money for them, and gems leave the economy via the gem store. The gems for gold is simply a player to player exchange.

If the Thief is abusing culling, then make sure you have Illusions on him while he goes invis, Phantasms perfected. Don’t shatter them while he is invis, wait for the Illusions to start attacking what looks like empty space. That is where the Thief is.

This is due to the fact that your Illusions can see the Thief regardless of culling, just like an NPC can.

[medium cultural,
mix and match]

I just recently made a Charr Thief alt and looked into the medium cultural armour myself. I am a very big fan of mix-and-match for armour skins, no matter which character I am getting the armour for (Mesmer is a mix of T1/2/3 cultrual, Guardian is mix of T2/WvW/random-lower-level-shoulders-that-look-nice, Norn and Human characters will be a mix of cultural/dungeon/etc when/if I get around to it).

Anyways, that T3 medium Charr cultural armour does look very nice. I am not necessarily a fan of the big bones/spikes on the rest of the T3 medium, but that chest piece is nice. Also yes, some of it has to do with that chest piece not being simply another jacket. I’ll probably mix the T3 medium chest with a couple T1&2 medium pieces and then search far and wide for a couple other pieces that look decent. Maybe even hide the shoulders since surprisingly there doesn’t happen to be more minimalist medium shoulders (not a fan of big shoulder pads, and the T3 medium on a Thief needs slender shoulders to finish that “sleek” look).

I do very much hope that we see more armour skins, or even existing but revised-for-Charr armourskins in future updates. I am still very pleased with the Arah medium Charr fix Anet sneaked into the game a month or so ago, even though I don’t even intend to use that armour skin.. it is nice to see that they do actually care about the burdens we Charr share (and they can do a very nice job at their fixes).

Why blindness on mesmers is now unbalanced

in Mesmer

Surbrus.6942

How about if Blind simply makes the Phantasm’s first volley of attacks fail. That way the “attack” fails from being blinded, but everything else about the Phantasm remains (including subsequent attacks from the Phantasm).

As for “Obstructed”/“Invulnerable”, how about the Phantasm simply spawns at your location (no matter how the Phantasm usually is spawned), forfits its first volley (as the Blind suggestion), then walks up and then behaves normally. This would allow us to not be completely screwed over by having a mosquito fly through our LoS, and it would prevent Mesmers from spawning iBeserker on top of walls (not commenting on whether this right or wrong here).

These suggestions would make it so that we aren’t denied our class specific resources simply because of buggy LoS or simply being a class that is subject to an imbalance effected by a single condition… a condition that is otherwise little more than a minor annoyance.

I think you may have misunderstood what my posts were talking about.

Just because it is easy to find a group for a dungeon doesn’t somehow counter the economic arguments raised about player behaviour and its impact on the GW2 market behaviour.

This is how things usually turn into when you add content ; can’t help it.

Not an entirely accurate statement. You should have added that:

“This is how things usual turn into when you add unbalanced content ; can’t help it”

If Fractals wasn’t the only dungeon that mattered (only source of Ascended gear for the treadmill, and decently profitable), then you would still have plenty of people running all kinds of different dungeons, world events, farming spots. The problem is that Fractals is so imbalanced with all the other activities in the game that everyone is doing it, almost to the entire exclusion of all else.

If Fractals was simply balanced and there was no power creep introduced, then the effect would not be nearly as strong as the one we have witnessed on the market.

The anti-treadmill people have been preaching and warning of this ever since November 13th when we learned the details about the Lost Shores/Ascended gear.

Legendary stats after Ascended when xmuted?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Surbrus.6942

Surbrus.6942

It will not matter if it was a transmuted item. Legendary is Legendary. Transmuted or not it is still a Legendary Item.

Has this ever been verified? To my understanding the transmuted item is the rarity of the item that gives the stats, and the rarity of the skin is simply discarded from the equation. This is what I have experienced when transmuting an item “up” in quality, and this is what I have heard from what happens when people transmute an item “down” in quality (such as Legendary skin + Exotic stats = Exotic item).

Besides, if it kept the rarity of the skin that wouldn’t really make much sense, because then you could have rares with two (lower) stats, or exotics with stats comparable to greens (but still considered exotics). It wouldn’t make sense.

Unless you are simply using semantics where they don’t apply that is.

I’m not sure if this is a sarcastic response or not, but at 180 tokens a day, you can quite reasonably get a full set of Exotic Dungeon armor in a mere 8 days just by running all paths of a dungeon once per day. Unless you’re a TP player or happen to get very lucky with drops, you won’t be able to earn 150 gold in 8 days…

I believe that you misunderstood my post. I said that no one is going to spend 150 gold for the stats of their armour because every single other avenue for acquiring exotic armour stats is much cheaper. Therefore, making T3 armour skins have actual exotic stats is meaningless.

I think it’s better to have the people who are willing to go through the added effort and time to perfect their build pay the extra 30g to get the specs they want rather than force everyone who wants to have exo armor to fork out the 119g required AND pay the gold required to get exo spec. If you are into building your char perfectly, then earning 20-30g extra shouldn’t bother you, but to an average player who just wants exos and a good skin, an extra 20-30g will just seem like another added chore.

The exotic armour stats and the transmutation stones are part of the price. That price tag adds to their rarity, which is much of the appeal of the T3 armours.

Deal with it.

This thread has too many dirty, anti-market, commies.

There were several threads before this one where people gave detailed explanations about how demand and supply work on the market, providing explanations for what we are currently seeing in our GW2 Trading Post.

The short answer is, the recent Lost Shores patch. The abriviated, but somewhat long answer is as follows:

-Ascended gear increases the demand for ectos and fine crafting mats
-Increased demand for ectos increases demand for fine crafting mats
-Changing the optimal places and items to farm has lead to decreases in demand for some crafting mats
-Increasing the gold rewards in dungeons has decreased the supply of crafting mats (which otherwise would have been farmed for money)
-Increasing the gold rewards in dungeons has increased the supply of gold (and therefore caused inflation)
-fewer bots means lower supply of crafting mats (and gold to a smaller extent)

Increased demand. Decreased supply. Inflation.

Those are your culprits. The greedy Illuminate/aliens/banksters (or whoever else Alex Jones has told you conspiracy nutts to to blame for this shift in the market) are not to blame.

Besides, its not like you couldn’t have purchased 600 ectos when they were going for 12 silver a piecelike this guy!, or 250 of the T6 mats when they were going for 20 copper a piece like a few of my guildies.

Tier 3 Cultural Armor - Lets reign it in

I could make the same argument for dungeon armors but ANet seems to have no problem there.

Dungeon armours function as a way to get those stats. No one is going to spend ~150 gold for the stats for their armour. However people will spend ~1300 dungeon tokens for the stats. Therefore the argument you suggest is null.

How do I get ascended items?

Not sure about that, haven’t been able to get myself to grind enough Fractals.

However the Ascended “essence” which is used to craft Ascended gear (at least the back slot item) is an extremely rare, RNG drop from Fractals. This item can drop off any random enemy in the dungeon. After acquiring this Ascended crafting material (account or soulbound, can’t remember which), the recipe to actually craft the Ascended gear requires a very large amount of T6 materials. The materials for this recipe will probably not cost you over 100 gold per Ascended piece.

Short answer: simply a whole lot of grinding and player wealth that would otherwise be going to cool looking skins.

In my opinion, portal is ruining the game

Then portals came and got more and more popular

Ahh yes, that dreadful beta last summer before release. The day that the big commanders abandoned WvW, and the game type died. A sad story.

But seriously, Portal has been around since before the game came out, and tactics/strategies have existed for all this time.

BTW: To everything think that they will fix the “culling” issue you need to wake up and understands the limits of a game engine and what “culling” is. You may not believe it, but all of our rendered characters have memory budgets in this game with culling set to a certain distance / size. If you increase that budget then you start getting problems as engine starts running out of memory. I seriously doubt arena net has programmers dedicated enough to redesign their entire friggin engine to fix this problem.

Or you know, maybe Anet can have competent people working on this issue. Using low res models until the actual model loads in is the painfully obvious fix.

As for people that complain about having a Mesmer hiding in a tower/keep and porting in their allies… really?.. even the bottom ranked servers are very proficient at mopping up stragglers after taking a tower/keep.

If anything mechanical is hurting WvW it is the 5 target limit to AoE, all the pro-zerg incentives the game provides, and the disincentives to actually helping your server (supply runs, upgrades/defence).

Variety and options are a good thing. Portals give WvW tactics and strategy more variety.

No i predict that they great feb update will just be 5 more jumping puzzles in all 4 wvw pvp zones. With more loot than playing wvw for a few hours will give.
Anet has a thing with jumping puzzles

Oh please, oh please, oh please! This would be awesome!

A couple tower/keeps that are jumping puzzles themselves. I would honestly be willing to look past the Ascended/gear treadmill thing for a bit for something this awesome to be implemented.

Other ideas that have floated around the forum have been that there could be a DAoC style giant PvE dungeon that one server has access to based on some predetermined requirements. When the server loses the PvP objectives that give them control of the dungeon, the dungeoneering players are not kicked or anything, but they no longer have access to re-enter the dungeon, but the enemy server will… leading to all kinds of PvP inside what otherwise would be a PvE dungeon.

That would be just as awesome as WvW jumping puzzles giving the benefits of towers/keeps.

Guild Wars 2 Should Go Free2Play

The people in charge of the GW2 cash shop are already doing a terrible job at it, since they seem to think that their consumers are simply problem gamblers.

Maybe if the cash shop wasn’t so run with such incompetence it could be feasible (although still a move that would be bad for the direction of game), but unless the cash shop gets an overhaul it isn’t going to even producing as much revenue as they’d want to have in addition to the box sales.

After Anet gets the treadmill fully implemented then they’ll go to a F2P model, like every single WoW imitator before them has. But until then (hopefully never), the F2P model is unneeded.

I could get behind this. It would make what I perceive as their main purpose (appearance) to be more obvious. And keep the price tag of course, it’s a prestige issue.

The only people that are confused about whether or not they should use the stats for T3 cultural armour are the people playing dumb. Therefore this proposed change is completely pointless. All transmutations at level 80 work the same way, why should cultural T3 armour work differently?

As for T3 cultural having a couple exotic stats to pick from, why should those with particular builds have access to cheaper skins than people who’s builds require different stat distributions when it comes to cultural armours? The system is fine the way it is now.

Karka farming for fun and profit

Ok noob Mesmer here… How does mimic make this possible? I understand feedback… But mimic? Doesn’t it just absorb a projectile?

PS: this makes me happy, that island is currently my favorite zone xD

When you trigger mimic you get hit by 1 projectile all others after that get reflected while the channeling is in effect. You can then shoot that 1 projectile back at the mob.

That sounds like the most awesome ability ever and I must have it!!

Yea it was discovered recently. Nobody touched it ever, not even in beta until recently when someone tested it and said “oh look guys”

Actually it used to only work as the tooltip said.

Absorbed a single projectile to be fired. I believe it was stealth buffed to become a full 4 second reflect during late beta.

Actually it has gone through multiple iterations. It is probably the one Mesmer skill that has changed the most, and the most times. The tool tip has never changed through all these changes though.

Right now it is absolutely terrible for anything other than Karka farming. And no this wasn’t some recent discovery, this is something lots of Mesmers were doing the moment Karka’s entered the game.

Personally, it was one of my favourite abilities, both in the beta (absorb one projectile), as well as up until mid October or so when they ruined it (4 second reflect, mimic the first projectile… changed to what we have now). It was a favourite of many other Mesmers as well.

Taking the first hit means that it is a garbage skill only useful for farming one particular enemy, that spawns only in one particular zone.

Temporal Curtain, yes a buff

The funny thing is, I had always just assumed that this trait was simply bugged/non-functional, and then just wrote it off from the traits to consider for my builds.

The height of the Temporal Curtain really is too short.

In my opinion: All Charr Armor is Terrible

As a charr, this is indeed a real problem in a game where aesthetics is so import.
Sadly, I don’t see any dev or moderator actually bothering to read this.

My biggest issue is with my tail. Most of them just feels weird. Therefore, I’m forced to used AC heavy armor for my leggings. It actually seems to hace a hole for my tail and it swings accordinly.

Helmet is just a nightmare. There are no good helmets.

Most cultrual armour was designed for being worn on Charr, and therefore accounts for the tail. The only Charr cultural armour that looks like it was designed for a human and then stretched to fit a Charr is the T3 light armour… which is an incredibly big shame that the T3 of all tiers doesn’t account for Charr physiology for light armour.

Note: I am unfamiliar with Charr medium cultural armour, so perhaps there are some bad armours not made for the Charr model in there as well.

As for helmets… yeah they are all terrible. I’ve already posted an example of an awesome Charr helmet earlier in this thread. Sadly it appears that awesome Charr helms only exist in the world of concept art.

What are Charr "Cats" or "Cows"?

Not sure how anyone’s first impression of Charr was not “demon cats”.

This was a strange response. What you quoted wasn’t said by anyone.

I didn’t quote the guy’s entire post because that would have been messy, and a more streamlined post looks much better. Instead I broke it up and used a bit of paraphrasing, a very common thing to do.

Your post is the only strange one here.

And the biggest joke in all this is that this game has actually no “World servers”.
Or rather only two server farms. The US and the EU one,

Servers are purely virtual and every map is actually floating somewhere between the load-balancing server-farm.

I think you will have to elaborate that joke, it doesn’t appear all that humourous. “Server”/“community”/“world”, does it matter all that much what the worlds are called?
