I did a post some time ago that had a link to single thread processing speed.
Find your processor’s single thread benchmark here
That’s what you want for GW2.
There’s been some comments about how gliding would work in the current maps. When you look at it there are very few spots where gliding is an advantage. Remember, gliding ONLY helps defenders.
ABL:
Hills spawn to hills….no benefit. Hills to SE camp could be a benefit IF the glide time is faster than the ground speed.
Does swiftness affect glide speed?
Can you apply swiftness in mid-glide?
If no then it might be that ground speed is faster than glide speed. As for defense at hills, is there anywhere where a force can glide to get an advantage? When is gliding to a lower location than your attacker give you an advantage? I can see gliding from the south part of the cata wall down by the bridge to trap attackers at S gate but you’d be at a disadvantage going up the stairs. Cata wall? No. N gate would be same as S gate but you would be seen earlier.
Bay. There is only one glide path for defenders. From S gate bay towards S inner or Mid inner and that’s all.
For the home side of BL there are a couple of advantages. You can glide to the north towers from spawn side exits. You can bypass the switchbacks to get to the NE and NW camps. Garri to hills you can glide instead of jumping into the water. Garri to Bay, not much help because the ground path is not different than the air path.
For EBG, Red side gets the bonus. Overlook to OW, OW to Vel. That’s it. Overlook to Anz is faster gliding down from overlook wall, bypassing the water. The hill between overlook and Anz offers the ability to get inside anz, but wouldn’t it be faster to bypass the hill?
EBG Blue….again, if you wanted to take the time to climb up to the highest spot to glide, wouldn’t it be faster using the ground method? The only spot gliding might be used is the path from blue keep to QL, where you wouldn’t have to be careful jumping down right before QL.
EBG Green…useless. I mean, you could jump from Jerri to keep or Jerri towards Klovan, but wouldn’t it be faster by ground?
DBL:
Towers..mostly useless except after capping you might save a second or two by gliding out.
Air spawn to air keep really helps to glide over the chasm. I really hate to have to go sideways to get there. After that Air to NE tower or NE camp isn’t helped much and it’s also not much help going from air to SE camp.
Fire spawn to fire keep isn’t going to be faster by gliding. Anyone who goes up top to get to fire keep is wasting time. However, bypassing fire keep and gliding from up top towards NW camp and NW keep will be helped by gliding.
DBL home to garri, gliding might help get to the keep portals but not by much.
Remember also, the maps are changing, we’re all going to have to relearn the maps.
They are still useful, a while back like 1+ years ago, I remember a commander on my side asked everyone to put on fall damage trait when we were defending hills, then we all jumped on the enemy group that was clumped near their catas at cata wall. Quite a few of them got thrown off the cliff and many of those remaining we’re either low health or downed.
So in your 2-3 years playtime of gw2 this trait was useful once, thanks to crazy coordination of a group…
LOL! now go compare it to traits that are useful for you any day and in any situation.
Sounds like it’s a perfect counter to proxy catas, which seem to be used quite frequently.
You obviously forgot the time when the Mesmer fall damage trait was bugged and they became zerg busters.
1. World sizes are based on WvW play hours and players. People who do not play WvW, or are guests, do not factor into the population size of a server. If a world is locked, it is because it has a larger population than our “Full” threshold.
2. Yes and no. We look at timezone participation but timezone participation is hard to balance because people who play at certain times tend to all gravitate towards the same worlds so they can play with a lot of people. There are not enough off-hour worlds that we could link to create 24-hour coverage for every world. It just is not possible with our current world populations.
3. Yes, high population servers are usually the benchmark for when we link worlds. For example, if Blackgate has 10 players and it’s the highest populated server, then we try to link worlds so their populations are also around 10. We can’t be totally precise so sometimes worlds might end up with 12 or 9 but we try to get as close as possible.
In the current NA T1 matchup, BG has never finished out of first. Last week was similar.
Does your population calculation, with linking considered, predict this to be an even match?
Do you take map population snapshots of matches to verify that your population algorithm is valid?
Could there be a bug where how you leave WvW affects the algorithm? Logging out in WvW vs. exiting to Lion’s Arch vs. going to EotM.
How many still run vanilla builds? Yeah, thought so. You’ll line up to pay just like every other WvW player.
Just lower the map cap to 50 and the squad size to 20.
See what that does to the lag.
So what are the boons and condis on the forums that cause the lag?
Links to videos?
Anyone know which server the Anet WvW team is playing on this week?
Maybe they could join Haem during NA prime and possible swap servers to see if this affects everybody.
Then only big update WvW needs is balance, but it’s population balance and skill balance.
We’ve seen a couple of tries by Anet devs in the WvW forums to discuss population balance but locking, linking are all that’s happened, which haven’t solved the issue. There’s still no dis-incentive to stack or to stay stacked.
As for skill balance, that’s controlled by the PvP and PvE sides. How many WvW skill balance issues have been discussed in these forums?
Can we finally get away from having to have two guardians in every squad?
I think that the only WvW update in the new xpac will be more unbalanced elite specs and a ton of PvE that has to be done to get the best armor stats to take advantage of them.
If your guild can field more than a map queue, then yes.
If your guild likes to play alongside another guild and create a map queue, then the two guilds might have to be separated.
A balanced game mode is more important to some of us that have suffered through years of imbalanced matchups, even though Anet has allowed the imbalance by design.
Maybe the players that moved their guild from an overstacked full server to one that has recently become full see the difference in the number of players they group with and realize that a newly full server will never have the number of players that an overstacked server has.
And that in order to balance the populations between servers some players on overstacked full servers will not be able to play with their friends.
I’d take a balanced game over the current unbalanced one even if it meant that some players were no longer able to play with their friends.
From A Message from the Game Director
This year we also took a different approach with PvP and WvW releases. In PvE, we make fresh new content with the goal of surprising and delighting you with our work, but in competitive modes, the community owns the game modes and chooses what we work on, and we definitely shouldn’t be surprising you with where we take those game modes. Instead our goal this year was to develop more incrementally, test with the community on the live side, and take feedback every step of the way.
The “owners” of WvW have been complaining, with good reason, about the population imbalance for years. After all, with BG and JQ as top servers for what, at least four of the five years, you’d think that would indicate that the game setup is flawed.
Locking only prevents a very high server from competing with an overfull server and in NA, linking hasn’t made it so a linked server combination can compete with an unlinked overfull server.
It’s time Anet started to fix the problem with overfull WvW servers.
Too bad most of us aren’t on servers that have the extra players that can escort yaks.
I went with ‘botting,’ though that doesn’t seem quite right. I have screenshots and account names but there’s no way to submit those in a report.
The person in question hangs out near east Citadel exit on DBL. There’s a pocket far enough back that the legendary defenders won’t aggro you. They run their alt out, kill them, then afk.
Can some1 tell me how I report Hypocrisy?
Why are you even caring or trying to do anything about it?
Its not a big deal…..it honestly sickens me that anyone would throw such a big deal over this. Are you jealous? Is that it? You want a way to do it urself? get on a trebuchet and aim it at smc or something and put a weight down on ur firing button….or bind it to ur mouse button and hold that mouse button down (various eez ways to do it electronically/physically). There, problem solved.
You realize that every single one of these complaint posts will lead anet towards a “fix” that punishes actually players as much as fake ones, right? Were you here 2 weeks ago for the “outnumbered” fix? WE ALLLLL make less pips now regardless of how you play. How is that good? You want to make everyone feel miserable over an issue that doesn’t exist? very very selfish.
There is no issue to begin with! Its a stupid backpack you spend 16 weeks grinding for! Its not skill based grinding either, its just a grind. Why do you feeeel cheated? There’s no reason to feel cheated even if some1 gets it for free. You should feel cheated for bothering to begin with. Its no differnt than some1 paying through raids for legendary armour…….if they want something like it THAT badly let them have it, its not free in any way. It ain’t free for them to spend all that time taking advantage of the wvsw system either.
If you could make twice as many pips 24/7 in wvsw with an exploit that doesn’t affect ur playtime at all (like flipping a switch)….would you do it? YOU WOULD DO IT. Here we have some1 using the system in such a way where his playtime hours are the same as urs, yet its unfair cause he’s afk?
Hypocrisy abound………if the game isn’t fun don’t play it, if he wants to sit there and afk and pretend he’s having fun let him.You might as well post an argument on how being able to give gold away is an unfair exploit. “OMG HE GOT GOLD FOR FREEE ITS NOT FAIR I HAD TO GRIND ITTTTTTT ANND HE DIDN’TTT!!!” -that’s all ur argument amounts to….
And what about the people with multiple alternate accounts? having alternative accounts to begin with and being able to use them in such a way as to benefit a single account is EXPLOITATIVE. And yet its something that anet doesn’t enforce, and actually encourages in a number of ways through its gem store items and gamemodes like pvp.
Just get over it, you are drowning in a pool of hypocrisy if you continue down this path…you just haven’t noticed it yet.
I’m sure that there’s a lot of OS obtained Ultimate Dominator titles that don’t have a problem with this.
You all also realize that this affects the score? PPK anyone?
Then there’s the issue OP brings up about how difficult it is to actually report players in WvW, which has been an issue since the beginning.
Eventually this could get organized to the point where some servers only have DBL queued. I’d like to see a screenshot of that.
Once you realize that WvW is a casual game mode and not a competitive game mode you understand why the imbalances have never been balanced.
Guys please. I’m not talking about condis in normal, lag-free gameplay. I generally can deal with most enemies on my daredevil, for example, as it has quite a bit of condi cleanse – I only struggle with certain super condi heavy builds that some thieves, mesmers, necros, warriors, and engies run.
My post is specifically about the situations where there is massive server wide lag and how condition builds have an edge over others there.
Artaz that is good advice yes – and many people already do run these sorts of builds – it’s just hard to counter conditions when there is so much lag going on. In a laggy battle power builds struggle to get off their attacks, as do condi builds too, however once a condi build does get their attack off the conditions stay – and generally get ramped up and stack due to the inability to properly cleanse then (due to the lag).
And yeah I know JQ has blobs, BG has blobs, Mag has blobs, even YB has blobs. I didn’t mean to come across as if I was specifically saying one server – I just wanted to talk about the gameplay issue of the lag and the way that condis have an unfair advantage in these situations.
How about removing all condis/boons and passive condi/boons from traits for all weapon 1 skills, since those are the only ones that can be used during severe lag.
Anyone else ever experience this?
You’re running around with your guild group of 30-40 and things just seem to get slower. Other players notice it, some even make comments about the enemy map blob. Your commander tells everyone to be ready. Then you find yourself facing the enemy twice your size.
Does a map blob running over a guardian’s Symbol of Swiftness enough to cause map wide lag?
Now if only there was a way for the Oakheart to pull the grub to SMC.
RIP EotM
How is this a bad thing?
EotM is a testing ground / Q waiting map unless they comply detach it from wvw i cant see it ever being its own open world pvp map.
What tests has Anet done to EotM? Since it was released what exactly has changed in the map.
My only issue with the oakhearts is that they are usually the LAST thing that shows up on my screen, usually after I’ve damaged them.
The poster was inactive both in waiting for something to flip AND in not going to another map to find something to flip. The poster could have grouped with other solo players and might have been able to take an objective that would have given them participation. If the whole map was one color, move to another map. If the enemy has a tower or keep then group up with other players.
Sitting around and waiting for something to do, something you can do by yourself, is not participation and shouldn’t be rewarded.
I was not standing around waiting for anything. I went directly from one objective to the next. The only waiting involved standing in capture circles. How exactly is that inactive?
Shrines, sentries, ruins and yaks are the lowest participation events for a reason. They don’t have as high a value as camps, towers, keeps, SMC or players. You only did one high value objective, the rest were low value. You were rewarded according to your contribution to the overall score, which wasn’t much.
Who had air keep? Who had S camp, NET, SWT? Those are the objectives you should have been looking at instead of two sentries and four shrines.
I started at southeast spawn on DBL. Spawn tower was ours, camp was not. I flipped the two nearby sentries while I waited for the RI to finish on the camp, then I flipped the camp. I proceed to flip all three Air Shrines. Someone else on my team had already flipped northeast camp and the two nearby sentries. I went to flip the east Earth Shrine. After killing all of the guards, I got attacked by two defenders. I managed to down one of them, but not get the kill before I died myself. I was already in a state of decay when I respawned. I had no nearby objectives to flip, so I lost more than a tier by the time I could get to something to stop the decay. Explain to me how I was not participating.
Maybe instead of everyone playing solo you’d have a better WvW experience if you tried to group up with others on the map.
There’s too many “I” complaints about decay, I don’t hear any “WE” complaints about it, especially for a game mode that is supposed to be about large scale combat.
Do you see how you replied to that post without actually answering the question it posed . . ?
The poster asked why his current behavior should not count as activity, but you answered as if he had asked how he could change his behavior so that it would count as activity . . .
Your answer carries within it the implication that there is no place in wvw for solo play and therefore it should not count as activity, but you do not give any argument or support for the assertion . . .
If you were able to support that idea, in order to then answer the actual question posed you would also need to explain why the behavior the poster described in the post you quoted didn’t actually qualify as activity . . .
The problem with solo play in WvW is that players have gotten good enough to contribute to the overall team effort as solo players, without the need to group up.
This leads to a mentality that you don’t have to work together as a member of a group, which is one thing that goes against the large scale combat model that is WvW.
The poster was inactive both in waiting for something to flip AND in not going to another map to find something to flip. WvW already has an iconic finisher…
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Avatar_of_Death_Finisher
(sigh)
Closest thing to GW1 Dhuum.
I miss Dhuum
WvW needs unique tonics, finishers, siege, armor and weapons way more than minis.
Now capes. Capes would be cool.
It might be better for everyone, anet included, if those of you that are having problems with the decay timer would also mention server, time and map they play on.
I tried out the new system tonight. I have to say I didn’t do a very good job at flipping camps, got killed several times, most of my encounters with other players was 1v2 or more. I had to wait 2-4 minutes for most camps before RI was up. I think I only killed two yaks the entire time I played and capped maybe 5 sentries, no towers or keep captures and no ruins.
There was even a time when I went with a group and waited around as they opened up a T3 keep with four catas. We all got wiped at inner.
There was only one time where in the few hours I was playing that I noticed I had any decay. I got to t3 participation in 10-20 minutes and it continually went up the whole time. I left with t6 participation.
I can only conclude that from my experience tonight that if you are having problems with decay then you are either:
1. Playing on the wrong map (not many objectives to flip)
2. Choosing to play in a manner that doesn’t give participation.
Since when did WvW become about watching the decay timer?
Actually, Alpine SET is the worst tower of any map. You can’t put a treb up and hit a keep and a treb In hills will make swiss cheese of the walls.
Set, sec, hills, and sentry make an obnoxiously easy defensive area for the server that controls that spawn.
But if that side loses hills they might as well move to another map.
Which is fine from a map design standpoint. The problem comes when the hills spawn side server just doesn’t have the players to defend their third of EBG, their home BL AND their hills side spawn. The bay spawn map usually is the first to be given up as a lost cause. Then that server just defends home and EBG.
They should really rethink the population problem and only have two maps. One for the top server to defend and EGB, since the newly full servers will never have as many players as the overstacked full servers. Give hills spawn to the weaker of the three server.
(edited by Swamurabi.7890)
OP should roll a Necro and learn how it feels to play a class that doesn’t know what a boon is or have to rely on them either.

Don’t know why I have to keep digging this out of my archives.
From a red post in the thread Whens the next WvW tournament?
Our primary motivation for avoiding running another tournament, is that at the end of every tournament we saw a permanent dip in the number of players playing WvW. Presumably this was due to players burning themselves out during the tournament.
However, we can still run a poll to see if the majority of the community wants another 4 week tournament, even if it might be bad for the long term WvW population numbers. Though even if ‘running another tournament’ won the poll, we’d probably hold off until we get the scoring updates in.
Just curious, of all the reasons why anyone would want another WvW tournament, which one(s) are better then Tyler’s statement against having another tournament?
Answer: what motivates the OP? It’s not the health of WvW.
WvW is boring, winning each week means nothing. Tournaments were fun. More rewards for wvw is good.
Tournaments are fun for the one server on top but not fun for the 5-7 that no matter what they do will never be the server on top, and that’s why the population dropped after every tournament.
Tell me your idea on how HoD, SoS or TC can be in a match against BG, JQ or Mag AND have a chance to win and those of us not on an overstacked server will listen to your “let’s have another tournament”
No more tournaments please…I have heard commanders talking about the resulting burn-out from past tournys and we need commanders in game more than ever.
One of the current issues with wvw is the lack of commanders and pugmanders. Having a tournament would be detrimental to wvw long term.
This just sounds like people who can’t control themselves. Most of the commanders I talked with enjoyed the exciting zvz in the tournament.
So you want anet to host wvw tournaments that feature terrible lag, poor profession balance, horrible condi system designs, unbalanced matchups even with linking… and take a huge risk with potentially losing players permanently due to frustration and burn out? …seems pretty logical right?
Will prob bring in new players let the ones who quit, quit.
Or you could think things through more… Also, you skipped the dev quote swamurabi provided… should probably read that.
There is only one way I’d ever agree to have a new tournament.
It has to be a tournament where coverage/population isn’t the determining factor in who wins AND the WvW population should increase after the tournament.
Now if you all would like to discuss how you can do both than I’m all ears, but asking for a tournament because you want more tickets/rewards/finishers will get a no vote from me every time.
Don’t know why I have to keep digging this out of my archives.

Has anyone considered that people with low pips were not meant to max out every week? The system is clearly setup to retroactively reward players for the past several years of supporting wvw. If those veterans had just started when rewards came out like the people who are complaining of low pips, then they would be in the same boat.
The “hard to reach” hard-cap isn’t meant to be reached every week through casual play. But for those who supported the game mode through thick and thin, gg here is a bonus to pip acquisition.
I’m sorry if people cannot comprehend/accept this now, but in 2-5 years I’m sure you can appreciate what I just said.
While I mostly agree, most vets are arguing they are not in WvW for the rewards, but are quick to prevent anyone else from obtaining them, too. Kind of a double standard, no? Also, 2-5 years seems to be an unrealistic timeline. By then, we will either not be playing GW2 because GW3 is out, or the power creep in gear stats will have moved beyond Ascended, making the current rewards like getting a set of Exotic in today’s economy. I feel that some adjustment is in order to smooth out the graph I presented above to make it more linear. Should a new player have to struggle so much just t get the final wood chest? Should a committed Silver ranked player on BG be able to always easily get the last Diamond chest each week the same as a Mithril ranked player? See my chart above for how things go from exponentially difficult to very little difference beyond a certain point.
For me the pip speed really doesn’t matter, because as a WvW vet I should already have several sets of ascended armor, but as it is now I’ve gotten only one ascended armor piece with the pip system. It’s not because of tickets, it’s because of all the mats (750 silk scraps) I need but can’t get in WvW to make a single Grandmaster Tailor’s Mark. And you need 3 to 4 to get one piece of ascended armor, 20 for a full set. I’m going to have as many tickets as unused Badges of Honor by the time I get the 15000 silk scraps to make my first set of ascended armor.
I like how everyone pointed out the logical workaround to avoid having your bags drop on the ground and not being able to pick them up even though I clearly stated at the top that I knew what the work around was. I also like that people started using real world logic to describe why a dead person cannot pick up things.
None of it addresses that when you tag something the reward should go in your inventory because it’s auto loot and it’s a game and it’s dumb that it doesn’t. I don’t care what the reason is that it doesn’t go into your inventory, it should go in your inventory because you tagged it.
There’s a penalty in dying, just like pve. If you die before the boss goes down, you fail the raid.
They really should revert it back to a five minute decay. If you want that loot, you better hustle back and grab it before it disappears.
Honestly, at this point, it feels like you, OP, just want to fight over anything on the forums now.
If only OP would PvF about population balance….but then again OP is on BG, which thinks that the population distribution is just fine.
I’m proud of my time in EotM where I took my fearomancer and actually went solo to where the zergs were going to go next.
I loved PvZ, some of the most fun I’ve had in GW2.
You mean the old rivalries where BG, JQ and SoR stayed in NA T1 over a year by recruiting/buying guilds from lower tiers, saying they had great communities and fights 24/7. And where they figured out if you logged in during OCX time that the server was open for transfer?
No, don’t miss it at all.
What I do miss is the hammertain meta.
One would think the since WvW is about combat between large number of players that DBL would be modified to allow for more if it to happen.
The only way you can ever increase the max target limit is to remove all conditions, boons and their damage modifiers on all AoE skills.
I got to diamond, thanks to being outmanned by JQ.
If you are complaining that your class is discriminated against in WvW, don’t blame the players.
You really need to direct your complaints to the skills balance team, who for some reason think that WvW is PvE, because there are very very very few skill(s)/trait(s) that are specific to WvW.
The problem with skill balancing is that while sPvP is 5v5 with most of it’s engagements are 3v3 or less, and PvE is a team of 5 or 10 against a single or pair of bosses, the rest being “trash mobs”, WvW involves large groups of players, mostly over 10v10. And that’s where certain classes fail to perform.
This is something that the WvW players, who you are directing you anger towards, have talked about in these forums for years.
Great idea, it did work, they came in droves, so we had 2 hr queues. YAY! Robust WvW zerg play! Fun fun fun. Then reality hit:
Queues – omg NOOOOO.
Go away newbies. “Back to pve for u” snobbery.
2k to get a piece of armor – 5 hrs playing and I got 2 ranks? – 6 ranks? – 10? w/e. Who cares – waaaaaaaay tooo distant a reward for me thx. I’m outta here – not wanted anyway
1 wk later, no queues, no players. Idea over. Back to the grind.
Yay! In 6 mos when the vets have all their shinies, everyone else will have moved on and there will be few to show it to, and no one who stays but doesn’t have it won’t care, and those of us who wvw as vets and don’t care about the shinies will just keep on the same old treadmill cuz that’s what we do.
So end result: zero sum gain.
Couldn’t we all have been a little nicer, a little less elitist, a little more realistic and rewarding, a little more patient, and a little more flexible/understanding? Help Anet keep this great game robust! Welcome everyone to squads! BE Kind! Behave! Rewards for everyone that are realistic, while honoring the time-worn, master vets so they can display their dedication to others (not Lord it over them), and just have fun.
Excellent post…and yes, pretty much seeing the queues die down on my server…last night only EBG was queued during my normal West Coast hours, where all borders were queued last week after the patch.
Most WvWers will rejoice at this news. Queues are a dirty word, and motivation to move servers for some guilds.
That said, I’ve yet to see anyone in this thread provide a valid reason for lowering the requirements. It’s not like the new gear gives any advantage. “Because I want it” is not valid. You can get it if you want. Nobody’s stopping you. In fact most WvW vets would be happy to show you a few tricks.
Unless someone can undeniably show that not having this gear puts you, as a player, at a disadvantage to other players who have it, there’s really no justification.
I am a WvW vet since Ive been playing weekly since beta and know the tricks. But 2000 rank is too remote of a shiny reward for the majority of players, including me. I will get there when I get there, so I don’t care, and I will or won’t wear my armor when I get it. I’m not in it for the shinies. However, some are, and some may be enticed by it, but then get blown away by the time commitment needed to get it. 1000 rank or even 1500 is doable/conceivable and not off-putting for most interested players. 2k is defeating and encourages attrition rather than encourages participation. Either way, the vets will have their shinies to show off WAY BEFORE any newbies or even most players in WvW, so what’s the difference? Earlier prestige isn’t good enuf? U have to scare players away with burdensome unattainable rewards – oh, think of those pretty purple pvp pinnacle weapons, which after 5 yrs of playing NO ONE has EVEN ONE. What’s the pt. Think end goal here – the game alive and well and thriving 10 yrs in cuz we all like it enuf to post and discuss here!
I’m over rank 2k and haven’t played much this last year. But you know what I don’t have is a set of ascended armor for ANY of my 9 characters. I’ve only got 5 pieces of ascended armor. You know why? It’s because instead of spending my time grinding for gold/mats/collections I’ve been getting WxP and WvW ranks. I bet there are tons of PvE players that come into WvW at rank 0 and already have a full set of ascended armor.
I’m fine with that because I know that if Anet lowered the requirements to get the shiniest of shinies in WvW that it would ultimately hurt WvW, and that’s way more important to everyone that plays WvW because I know that the queues we’re seeing now is a direct result of the shinies and if the requirements were lowered then the players would never get a chance to fully experience WvW.
And when I finally get my T2 set of armor I will wear it proudly along with my “Yakslapper” title and I will work on the sets for the other 8 characters, even the ones that I don’t bring into WvW. This is the closest thing in GW2 WvW to GWAM since the ultimate dominator title was tarnished by the kill traders in OS.
Well I disagree I feel like gaining wvw rank is completely counter intuitive to most wvw play. Half the time in wvw is spent repairing walls or standing around or defending structures or losing zerg vs zergs or running places only to flee. Whenever this type of behavior occurs which is important to maintain 1st place under the new pip system, very little wvw ranks are gained..
If only repairing walls would give wxp…Yes it is very important to lose zergfights to maintain the first place. Do you happen to play on Drakkar? Because that would explain a lot.
Seriously wining zergfights is the best way to get wxp and the core of wvw.I play on blackgate since launch.
Don’t tell my you spend all your time in SMC?
So I main thief/engineers/rangers.
Man, the majoirty of commanders just kick medium armors. That’s it. I believe Anet did not want to implement hidden tags, for they want everyone to be a part of the game. The medium armors are now getting excluded from WvW.
What is Anet’s stance on this?
You should report this as a bug if Medium armor classes are being prevented from leaving spawn.
Does shared participation give WxP?
If it does than that’s your answer.
If not you don’t sound happy on your server.
Nobody is forcing you to spend half your time inside walls.
If you aren’t happy on your server you might consider switching.
Anet didn’t do squat for Necros the first three years to make them welcome in dungeons and sPvP. There was the Dhuumfire period where Necros were wanted in sPvP but it was quickly and harshly hit with the Nerf bazooka and blasted Necros back to the scrub tier.
At least medium armor classes can do something in WvW.
Making the rewards easier in WvW, or EotM, has been shown to not grow the WvW player base, which is more important than the length of time it takes anyone to get all the shinies. The rewards in EotM made players turn a PvP map into a PvD map.
I’ve criticized Anet’s decisions with respect to WvW in the past but I’ve got the give them credit for this. They nailed it.
I’ll deal with all the new commanders that don’t know how to command.
I’ll deal with the players attacking camp supervisors and tower/keep lords with RI.
I’ll deal with the players bringing less efficient builds/gear/classes.
I’ll deal with players not knowing how to give a scouting report.
I’ll deal with players not on teamspeak.
Because if they stay long enough, for the shinies, they will learn how to play WvW, and when they do I will fight beside them and we will become friends and we will have a great time playing WvW week after week and month after month and if/when they leave WvW we will tell stories about them like we were Norn and I will miss them.
WvW rewards: Come for the skins, stay for the fun.
