OP, I’m with you. I will at least be playing less as inherently the amount of fun has decreased. I prefer playing against an opponent on as equal footing as possible. The bloodlust buff is like a sore thumb in this. Although the concept and layout of the capture points is excellent having an (in my mind) unfair advantage removes the fun in the 1v1, ZvZ scenarios which is the real excitement in WvW.

There was already a large reduction in dedicated mesmers in wvw after the confusion nerf, and now this? There will still be mesmers, but mostly just for the utility of veil, portal, and into the void… how boring. We’re a lot more squishy now with the blurred frenzy nerf which means we’ll spend most of the big fights on the defensive… oh joy.
A suggestion is for ANet’s servers to detect skill lag on the clients and when it reaches a certain threshold will “throttle the server” to varying degrees. This means the server will intelligently prioritize the amount of computing on the server based on the priority of the player experience. Seeing enemy players within a closer range is a high priority for example. Seeing friendly’s outside of say a 1500 range is a lower priority outside of your commander, group or called target.
The end goal is so that the server is able to accept all of the skills each player is using in these extreme situations.
Just a friendly FA warrior!

That rabbit needs to find a new home….
Siege de-spawn should be different based on the type of siege to be more in-line with how it was a few weeks ago. I agree with a previous poster on this being too much of a chore and it benefitting the servers with greater numbers.
AC, ballis, catas despawn every 6 hours. Everything else 30 minutes.
And they would need to find a better way to combat siege cap trolls.
Well i picked up my first SSD a couple months ago – and where I saw a vast improvement is in the load times. Loading zones is a huge improvement. LA might take 30s on a decent hard-drive where it’ll take 10s on an SSD.
Also – we haven’t seen many TC Guilds about, but [AL] made a showing on Friday night.
This was one of the more silly moments we had fighting them
I was actually going around to run a portal on-top of you guys when the mumble was like whoa! gg
how smooth i will run gw 2 with this laptop?

At 1366×768 resolution it will run fine on low settings with a couple medium settings for general PvE. Busy events, cities and wvw may be less than adequate.
My experience since the patch in wvw is a noticeable decrease in enemy culling and increase in friendly culling. I am happy with the changes and look forward to further enhancements.
Yes, crossfire works. I use a crossfire 5770 and it adds a substantial fps boost (roughly +50-60%) when the CPU is not the bottleneck. But if you have a poor CPU you may not see results.
I burned all of my endurance and just dropped someone to 60% health and I haven’t touched my sword/pistol abilities or my utilities. Not to mention vigor is regenerating my endurance.
That may be true if someone is AFK and a glass cannon.
Phase retreat, dodge, dodge, and shatter.
And you just burned all of your endurance, so you’re screwed. Also, sword/p has blurred frenzy and iduelist for solid dmg.
But I agree, sword/p does not generate a ton of clones as say the scepter. Point is the staff is a defensive weapon. Nerf phase retreat and you add another useless weapon to the list (torch).
For mesmers the staff is a defensive weapon, it does not generate a lot of clones for shatter builds and the iWarlock is relatively weak in pvp. So while phase retreat is powerful, mesmers are not doing much damage at the same time.

Also, part of the club where undoing the overclock fixed the crashes. Several hours of intelburntest confirmed a stable o/c but gw2 don’t like it… go figure.
Well I should have tried this earlier but I reset the BIOS to defaults essentially undoing what I thought was a stable overclock and the crashes (almost completely) ceased. I did get one crash last night but that was after 10 hours of game time.
The c0000005 Exception is a tricky one but after all my tweaks it does seem to point to a hardware issue be it the power supply, cpu or memory. It does not appear to be directly related to video cards because after changing video cards from HD 5770 to GTX 280 I saw no effect. I would still crash to desktop every 5-15 minutes.
I’m using a 280, butter smooth gameplay overall. A 295 is much better than a 7770. Is it a heat issue? Is your fan clean on the 295? Something funky there.
It’s weak and the AE range is small but in WvW you can use it hit players near the ledge. That and Chaos Storm is about all we got in that situation now that iZerker LOS is in place.
Edit: Nvm. Crashes persist despite changing to GTX 280 video card.

Yes, i have a Radeon 5770 crossfire with Win7 (64) and the last couple of days, especially last night, am crashing within 5 – 20 minutes of gameplay. All temperatures down. I’m going to try to disable audio all together to confirm whether that is a player in these issues.
Never really had crashing issues since launch.
I like to suicide shatter burst competing zergs on occasion.
Or I like to drop phantom portals near competing zergs to screw with them.
I can see how that is frustrating and wish you luck!
ANet has mentioned they will implement a guesting feature which basically allows anyone to travel to any server to do quests and everything with the exception of WvW. Unfortunately, I haven’t heard an ETA for this feature other than they are working on it.
This forum tracks the Full server trends:
http://guildwars2roleplayers.com/forum/m/2737230/viewthread/4448428-tc-population-levels-by-daytimedate
My little theory is: probably in two or three weeks TC will move up to WvW Tier 2 which means the server will no longer control the scoreboard. A small set of bandwagon players will likely go elsewhere leaving you an opportunity to transfer.
If you’re on a strict budget here is a suggested build (i3 and Radeon 7770): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/r2LS
You will have plenty of room to upgrade the CPU and GPU in the future. The setup is not intended for overclocking. The power supply and motherboard are on the reliable side.
And if you want a WvW friendly setup that implies ample overclocking (i5 2500k and 560 Ti): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/r2KS
Note: Operating System not included.

Another Solution:
When the server reaches the cap the siege will despawn with the following priority (oldest first): rams, carts, ballistas, catas, trebs, golems.
Anything that is currently manned or manned within the last couple minutes is at the lowest priority for removal.
I was downed inside the wall of the eastern EB keep. Someone repaired the wall at the same time and I survived. I was standing there for a minute just sorta spying and an ele some how targetted me and was trying to AoE… unsuccessful. I started toying with her and friends with temporal curtain, yanking them around.
Eventually, I decided to get out and found I was basically stuck, as a last ditch effort I jumped and blinked and found myself unexpectedly somehow inside the keep. Then I put down a ram site just as a gag. The npc’s and a couple invaders got me but i had a good laugh I hope they did too. (o:
Xfire can work but it is going to be a power hog. I have Xfire 5770 which works pretty closely to a 5870, so it’s nice. But if you are buying a new card get a single and ebay what you have.
Also, are you always running portal now or do you ever swap it out for decoy? I’m having trouble dropping decoy just because of how easy it is to reset the battle with blink + decoy to drop targetting. It looks like I may have to can it and use terrain advantages to get around it instead though because portal is that useful.
I’m sorta in the same place. Decoy is great in several situations but I’m thinking once portal is mastered it is probably the best choice. It’s all about anticipating the battle ahead. Initially for me, Decoy is much easier to roll with since I’ve been using it for months and like you said it clears target nicely. Currently, I’m forcing myself to stick with portal and failing with it a lot but eventually will get it right..
@Swedeamon, shatter 3 daze the target repvent it form escape by use a defensive skill. It also awars a might stack for you.
OK – question was not so much what shatter 3 does but rather how it would do anything with no clones up. You answered that, shatter 3 still gives you a brief daze even if no clones up to shatter. Shatters still give you something even when you have nothing o.O Correct me if i misunderstand please.
Try do pistol 4—-> sword 3——> dodge——-> pistol 5 —--> sword 3 —-—> sword 2+shatter 1——-> shatter 3——-> mirror immage——-> shatter 2
@Osicat, When you have a moment can you explain how the shatter 3 works above?
Also, I noticed in one of your videos that you’ll hit nr 1 and nr 2 together in one shatter (unless my eyes are deceiving me).
What is the behavior of multiple shatters executed on the same clones? And when there are no clones? I was trying to test this last night, I’ll to continue to test tonight to determine the +/- benefits.
I’d also like to throw in a big thank you, your videos are great fun and personally am really enjoying this new and challenging (and exciting) play-style.
Depends on your budget, but I’d also prioritize your CPU first (i5 2500k OC’d to 5ghz) and GPU close second (660 or better).
When analyzing your CPU loads keep an mind that GW2 priotizes 1 core and at a lesser priority uses the remaining core(s). So check the load on both of your cores, I would expect the primary one used by GW2 is closer to 100%.
I agree they really need to consider giving WvW’ers a relative avenue to gaining the same gear upgrades. Personally, I’m not too into PvE or dungeons but I do enjoy special events => 95% of the time it’s WvW.
A little off-topic, I’m hoping they bring orbs back and change the effect to something along the lines of the chosen keep gains supply at a 50% rate. Something important and useful but not completely screwing up the competition. Oh yeah, and hacker-proof.
In 2016 Intel will release a CPU on a 1nm chip capable of maxing out the game in 60 FPS in all GW2 scenarios.
Just wow. We really need compensation in the siege wall/AE capabilities. Chaos storm is a low dmg joke with a huge cool down. I WvW probably 95% of the time and I’m reduced to temporal curtain and chaos storm during offensive keep sieges.
I faced an elementalist 1v1 in wvw yesterday and i pulled out all the stops, the fight lasted over a minute and his health did not drop at all with my greatsword while i struggled to make it to the next heal cooldown. I’m no uber mesmer or anything but I can hold my own. At least used to. I’m looking at other trait possibilities shaking my head.
Please give us just 1 decent AE option to keep us involved in WvW sieges. And correct iBerserker damage to be very close to what it was. Very frustrating currently.
Anyone with the new AMD piledrivers have results?
Install an affordable air cooler and OC it. Overclock.net will have an easy to follow guide.
Several coolers can work with both AMD and Intel processors. So you can likely swap into your future cpu/mobo.
The 6950 has a better texel rate and memory bandwidth than the 570. It lacks in only the pixel rate. The texel rate is actually won by quite a margin which may explain the FPS difference.

Laptops are not really upgradable. So yeah… and lesson learned. Good luck though.
I already have a 64 bit OS, and how do I stop the unneeded processes and applications? I’ve seen this answer a lot before, but I just don’t know how to do that.
Stop startup processes:

Game booster is recommended on these forums often – it reduces your system resources easily for improved gaming:

What kind of graphics (GPU) do you have?
If it is integrated then it will occupy some of your system memory (RAM) for display. And during gaming it will use even more of your system memory. If we can get your computer specs then we’ll have clarity and suggestions.

Yeah! What he said!
Render Sampling’s impact on FPS depends largely on the area you are at. I agree, it is best to leave at Native to avoid unexpected FPS dips.
I’ve heard a couple good reports of the new AMD Piledriver CPU lineup for the AM3+ socket in games including GW2. Look into it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulldozer_(microarchitecture)#2nd_Generation_Piledriver_core
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_FX_microprocessors#Piledriver-based
It is due to the large number of players in a small area. If PvE had 50-150 players spamming abilities in one area you would see the same issues.
Quad core required. Intel Core i5 or i7 required. 4+GHz required. That is if you want sustained 20+ FPS.
Single GPU performing better than CrossFireX

I’m using 12.8 CAP 2 with 12.8 driver with two 5770 cards (motherboard supports x8/x8 PCI-E). I see roughly a 50% fps jump with crossfire enabled (i.e. 30 to 45fps in LA). Full screen mode of course (i used to run in windowed mode which crossfire does not support).
Like you said it is below minimum requirements. It’s still possible the game will respond and you will be able to run around and do simple tasks with bare minimum settings – but there are no promises. The 4250 is a few notches below the minimum graphics requirements (i.e. Integrated HD 3000).

Crossfire connection good? Both cards fully secured to mobo? Disable crossfire but run on second GPU okay?
I used an HD 5770 for a few weeks and would do decently on Medium/High settings, certainly over 30fps in PvE. Your CPU isn’t that bad really. I would expect better too…
How are your temperatures and what is your GPU/CPU usage at during gameplay?
As a first step download and install HWMonitor.
Run this and run the game for a few minutes in different situations. What we’re looking for are high temperatures on either the CPU or GPU. This would explain why you are getting less than expected performance.
Post back on that info and then we’ll look into the CPU/GPU usage %.
haha, OK – yes I am happy with prices. I read the 2550K was introduced to meet the high demand for 2500K, the 2550K has no integrated graphics but both overclock quite easily 4.5+ghz.
BTW, if you are close to a Microcenter check their stock… I recently purchased my i5 3570K for a staggering $170, and still in stock.
Aye a 560ti or Ati equivalent would be adequate but you owuld likely want to upgrade it within a year. If you have the option of gettinga 2550k ..there is no reaosn to get the 2500k unless u want to use its Internal GPu. The 2550k is the same price but has a higher stock clock speed which helsp with OC.
Where is the 2550K at $200? The 2500K best deal is at newegg.com for $200. The best I see the 2550K for is at Amazon $230. Not worth $30.
