I think this is a terrible idea for a number of reasons but mostly because making their already unhappy wvw population angry is more likely to get them to leave the game than transfer servers at this point.

Um what exactly are you talking about? You didn’t post any sort of build so your questions about "Also, if I take 5 more points out of discipline " make little sense and we can’t give you a real opinion. You didn’t say what type of gameplay you’re in either(dungeons/wvw/spvp)

Are you using a greatsword with deep cuts(lol)? IMO, in PvP there are much better traits(like the vuln on crit) and traiting for increased bleed duration when your weapon doesn’t have a reliable source for stacking them seems very unwise.

And if I remember correctly, Empowered is only better than Empower Allies if you have over 6 boons on you at all times.

Ah, my apologies, I was just talking about zerker builds with a friend and I just became curious about them.
So would you say that 25/25/0/0/20 is the best then?
I also agree that Empowered does not seem to be that great (unless of course you have a stellar guardian).

empowered: what type of game play are you taling abou?

empowered vs empower allies: empower allies = 70 power, empowered = 2% damage (attack) per boon, so if you got say 3k attack 2% of that is 60. youd need about 1 boon up at all times for empowered to be almost as good, 2 boons and its better

We still eat more damage than a guardian and can do more dps… Its unfortunate that all warrior builds in high end dungeons or WvW for that matter now must begin with an automatic 30 points into Tactics, but its become increasingly clear that Anet hasnt a clue how their “minor changes” effect the game.

They are so busy with trying (and failing) to make sPvP into an eSport that the rest of the game has essentially become an afterthought.

1) Giving more stats to players is never the solution; I shouldn’t lose a 1v1 because he’s outmanned and I’m not.

So you lose against ppl who get more xp, mf and karma from playing when outmanned? How would that actually help him survive the 1v1?

current bonus dosent help him survive the 1v1: we are saying they shouldnt do somthing like the orb bonus for outmanned: hp and +all stats, if it did then even LESS people would want to roam than already are and it would even FURTHER contribute to the zerg problem

They were, but the orb bonus was worth while strategically. While out-manned bonus is worth while individually and makes no difference from the server perspective. Swapping the two would be perfect in the way that an underdog would get a hand, while even if the orb is hacked it does not affect the actual fight (from the server perspective)

orb bonus was op, stats are not the answer… shouldnt loose a 1v1 vs an equally geared opponent if your even slightly more skilled and its flat out wrong to suggest this as a solution!

I think commander event shouldnt even activate unless your outmanned.

I think it should have a hard limit on a number of people in a squad (30) and then make it so:
1) squad leader can controll who is in the squad
2) people in the squad dont buff or heal people not in the squad
3) people not in the squad dont buff, heal or have their combo fields work for people in the squad
4) people not in the squad are counted seperately for loot and quest completion situations (if squad gets credit for capping an objective people not in squad dont)
5) escorting yaks through checkpoints should be very rewarding (encouraging people to do it more)

Even MASSIVE (which I define as 1500 members in 3 guilds) guilds out there rarely field more than 30 in an effective squad at a time (See the recent Junkies Vid where MERCs GM gives examples of what they field).

Anything larger than 30 is a zerg, it looses cohesion, efficiency, and draws people away from more important objectives…

The biggest problem with zerging though is that it makes culling terrible, and its almost impossible to follow the commander.

We will see what the next few weeks bring, but either the culling will be solved or people will start looking more and more at ESO for their gaming going forward.

How to stomp a thief in wvwvw?

They are not visible long enough for me to finish the stomp. Even when they relocate in my stomp range, and i am hammering ‘f’, about 50% of the cases the stomp doesn’t finish in time. Sometimes I have 5 failed stomps so they get up again. And then the next thief dies from the first (or second) stomp as he should. It is very confusing and I don’t know how they do it.

PS. I can’t make a thief myself since all my slots are filled.

just spam auto attack or local area aoes on em when they are downed…

if your auto attack is chaining 1,2,3 etc then your hitting them even if you dont see them…

eventually their corpse will show up and when this happens it means they ran out of ways to move around…

their downed attack isnt all that powerful or dangerous…

another thing that people dont seem to understand is the mechanics of stealth: if they are using shadow reffuge they CANNOT LEAVE shadow refuge for its duration without becoming revealed and negating their stealth… when you see a shadow refuge up, guess where the thief is!

ya that house thingy should be a bullzeye in your mind, i like to eartshaker the center and follow up with hammer #4 usually makes thief very sad, especially when 1 or two of my warrior guildies do the same…

perma stealth: so the way the average thief abuses perma stealth is by using black powder and heart seeker to combo stealth… you can interupt this pretty easily if your a proper tanky simply by putting your big mass in the black powder field as soon as possible when you see it, again youll need a friend to help deal with the soon to be revealed thief.

ya but 1 person can still shut down the camps supply delivery simply by camping outside and killing the yaks…

Upgraded supply yaks are 2x a normal yak… sadly its true that a single character can shut down the supply routes right now… guards on the supply trains are almost useless, and upgraded guards are useless too.

I think that now that bots are no longer the issue they once were and apparently they have the staffing to manage em even when you observe em: they should consider putting escort events for the yaks back in with a couple of changes. Make people be with the yak at check points if they want credit, (so 10 people dont just run in right as the yak is reaching their destination and get credit, or someone just go afk at a tower or keep and get credit for yak escorts).

Yes, it’s a non-issue for 30 man guild zergs groups. It’s not a horrible issue for 10v10 either. It’s a problem when you get under 5 (as has been argued many times in the thread). Just like the solution to your AoE problem is to only run with 5 people and avoid zergs.

It’s amazing how different the game is when you are running with less than 10 than when you are running with more than 20.

ok, fair enough, we typically run 15-20 so people in our guild group on a week day, but there is an unusually high concentration of condition removal built into our group… so perhaps thats why we dont have such major issues with it…

Also admitedly depending on what randoms decide to do we can wind up with 30-40 of them tagging along for the ride (our commander is a popular guy i guess).

Not getting any Badges of Honor

I understand the people who post about hardly having any badges, I have just over 50, 45 of those came from doing the JP despite spending roughly a third of my total game time in WvW.

The problem is not down to the drop rate but the game mechanics regarding WvW, as somebody mentioned whether you get tagged on a drop is down to how much damage you did, hence why I hardly get any, my traits, armor and weapons are specced for healing not damage output.

You’ll probably find the people who get the most badges have exotic armor, weapons and trinkets with power/precision/crit (berserker) bonuses and have traits that also boost damage output and crit rates.

Healers (like myself) and tanks get screwed over under the current mechanics which are unlikely to change any time soon, since Anet is focused on the more crucial issue of making WvW teams more balanced. In myopinion, they should be placing a dynamic player cap on each map which is based on the team with the smallest numbers to stop them being massively outnumbered, unfortunately Anet’s approach is to wait for the tiers to stabilize in the hope that the tiers we eventually end up in are balanced, until we reach that stage, which is gonna be weeks (maybe months), other WvW issues aint gonna see much development.

ok first: anyone using a buncha p/p/c gear deserves whats coming to them…

second: yes you should have a level 80 fully exoticed out before attempting wvw, especially if your going to take up valuable in game slots and leave people in queue on a reset night! WvW is END GAME CONTENT, it is the only END GAME CONTENT that ANet has seen fit to give us with and is already extreemly casual friendly and hardcore player unfriendly compared to other games. getting a new character to level 80 from level 0 and getting full exotics should take you 2-3 weeks tops if your striving to play this END GAME CONTENT.

third sorta true about the healer / tank seing less, but honestly if your doing it correctly it dosent make THAT big of a difference 90 vs 180 on a reset night for example and other than gifts of battle i have spent exactly 0 badges since the game came out, because theres nothing worthwhile to spend it on! Even if you want a set of P/v/t gear, it takes only a couple thousand badges and you can get it faster and look much cooler by running AC, HotW, and/or SE. The pic that you see above of an entire bank tab full of badges on an ele further illustrates this… right now they just take up space and look pretty! Now imagine if he could convert those badges to somi

There is absolutely NO WAY ON EARTH that you are getting 180 BOH in 4 hours. People have been complaining about the drop rate for months and still no reply from Anet. The general consensus is that you need to do the most damage to a player and if they are lvl 80 then all the better. It doesn’t really matter what level you are as long as you do most of the damage. Also the drop rate is about 1 in 5 kills according to many on the various forums on this subject ( and there are quite a lot).
So to get 180 in 4 hours you would have to kill around about 900 enemies in WvW since reset, not taking into account their level. Me thinks not. Not even a super duper ganking thief or gaggle of Eles could accomplish that. Maybe thats the total you got from the beginning.
I personally got 42 BOH tonight with a level 70 Necro and that was doing the JP and killing the Champion Worm.
I agree that something needs to be done about the rate of BOH drops as it is ludicrus. Even doing the JP and killing the Champions in WvW is still not good enough for a descent drop rate. Maybe thay will introduce something in the upcoming update that has everyone so excited.

umm, i got 175 (exact count) since reset… waeren is in my guild so its entirely possible that he got 180…

couple of things to improve your drop rate:

1) first you need to be playing a level 80… true level 80, an unscaled character is no where near as powerful as the real thing, even a badly geared level 80 is superior to a non level 80, and a properly exoticed out level 80 is a must to even begin to be competitive in WvW, this is especially true if your holding valuable WVW slots up for your server while other people sit in queue. If you had 4 hours to play tonight, you probably coulda gotten most of the way from 70 to 80 instead of spending it in wvw.
2) second, and most importantly, you need a strong guild to run with and be a part of. the name of the game is guild wars. Its not zerg wars, and its certainly not solo wars, trying to do this alone wont work, and your wasting your time in wvw if your trying to solo unless your a d/d ele or a thief. (then its ok)
3) your build and your death rate… you should be dying very VERY infrequently, if your dying frequently, your doing it wrong, total number of deaths and respawns should be on the order of maby once an hour if not less.

Warhorn condition removal/conversion appears to have been bugged so it doesnt convert the last condition applied but the weakest, also no longer gets free removal with charge on the 3 movement reduction conditions.

Would really like to see this bug fixed since this is about the only way warriors have to deal with conditions reliably other than shouts. This bug reduces our viable builds from 2 to 1 (now just shout builds).

Commander: tag only visable to own squad

I bet that will just leave the “randoms” more lost because I’m sure every commander just like to work with their own guild/group.

I’ve even saw a commander (No names or guilds will be said) say once: “Whoever isn’t from my guild, please follow the other commander, not me”.

There’s several reasons for that. The main ones being the other commander needs people and you eat up boons that could’ve gone to guild members.

the need for people is highly variable depending on situation… in general though if your asked not to follow, or the commander and his guild all have their tags down, please dont follow him!

its sad when a commander is running with his tag off with his guild and we still wind up with more non guild members than guildies following us around and because of this we start loosing key objectives to not having enough people elsewhere.

Yes some commanders have reputations for being sucessful, and its certianly fun to follow someone like that, but its not whats best for the server, 1 commander cant be everywhere, and it has really been killing us in particular these past few weeks in terms of score because we cant be everywhere on a map all at once.

people who are saying this is related to how heavily a server was bandwagoned to have no idea what they are talking about sadly: that dragonbrand has a queue is proof of this…

if it were limited to some of the more heavily bandwagoned servers like JQ, SOR, or SOS (which had queues before the recent transfer frenzy) then that would be one thing, but servers who got only a few transfers (BG, FA) and servers that got none or lost people are having queue peoblems as well (TC, Dragonbrand, etc)

this is reflected in the numbers of players we are seing as well: the once populated wvw zones are now empty of both allies and opponents while everyone is stuck in queues…

How do you beat a Warrior 1v1

Well, here’s the thing about the warrior horn – the Quick Breathing trait, which he almost definitely has, converts one condition to a boon, poison > regen, vuln > prot, weakness > might, confusion > retaliation, etc., and he can do it every 8 seconds. Throw on Soldier runes, and a condition-heavy class is going to have a tough time.

A trick (and I’m not sure why I’m telling you this), make sure that you keep the war crippled/immobilized/chilled, it completely screws up the boon conversion – the conversion will always convert the CC, and the bleeds etc never get removed.

dosent matter, a condition necro should be able to apply enough conditions to make this a moot point…

then they convert our fury, might, and swiftness into more conditions…

bleeds are kinda the least worrysome thing to a warrior… like the necro we got a ton of HP… poision, chill, cripple, weakness (depending on the warrior build)… immobilize, and removal of warrior boons which we rely on often are the best bet…

if you want an easy time fighting warriors: respec conditionmancer… PVT excells in other fights, but you WILL have a tougher time with a warrior

People who log out of WvW (or crash to desktop) leave a “ghost” in the WvW map that takes a long time to actually leave .. resulting in artificial queues.

No its not this, there were massive queues within seconds of reset tonight…

and not just on high pop “hardcore” wvw servers, numerous servers are experiencing this.

Its clear they significantly reduced the WvW population allowed in the zones.

None of you here must play in Tier 1 or even Tier 2? The culling system now is vastly better than anything they have had period. When my team of 40+ is fighting against another team of 60+ I can give a kitten about seeing my own team, we all know where we are and the commander tag is visible even when culled so we know where to be even if our entire zerg is culled. What is important is that no longer am I fighting against a giant army of nothing but now I can actually see a good portion if not all of the enemy players which is soo incredibly important in any sort of PvP situation that nothing else should ever come before it.

This culling system is amazing and WvW is playable again. I look forward to the day when it can be removed completely but as it stands now this current system is 1000x better than the crap we had before. Now we can actually strategy and move troops in the field instead of just swing and nothing and pray that you get numbers.

culling is way worse, both waeren and I are both in Tier 1 this week.

Wow. It is almost embarrassing how clueless some of the warrior mains are.

I do not main a warrior, I main an engineer, but I have all professions at 80 and geared up. with some of the dysfunction and bugs plaguing other professions, warriors have it golden, yet cry like I see on this thread?

If some of you that are complaining, got out and leveled other professions, to see what it is like for the other classes, you would be ashamed of yourselves for complaining about this profession.

for the record i have a level 80 guardian, 80 thief, and an 80 necromancer…

I admit the necro is kinda meh… the guardian is a flashier version of the warrior that actually can tank stuff, support, and deal with conditions… the thief, well we wont talk about the thief…

I said this in another post but here is how the ratings play out…

So this means that since SoR, JQ, and SoS are going to be a close matchup in T1; they’ll be at around 30 rating at the end of next week and could go down to t5/t6 when the week ends. But, if Blackgate kicks kitten in T2 then they will have a higher rating (80+) at the end of next weeks matchup. This also says the same for the T7 servers; if Darkhaven kicks the crap out of everyone in their tier and they have 90 rating at the end of next week, then they’ll be placed on the top of T1. This is how the glicko ratings work in its early stages It’ll take about a month to balance out.

ya but again, no offense to Darkhaven but unless a bajillion people suddenly decide to pay and transfer there or the BG server randomly crashes and explodes the results of a BG vs Darkhaven matchup is kinda predictable…

pvdoor isnt gonna be fun… i mean granted its atleast better to be on the P side than the door side but seriously, cant you like do the matches on a 24 or 48 hour timer for the next week or two to get a GENERAL idea of ratings… this is gonna make people on lower tier servers just not wanna play… and who could blame them when as a tier 8 server they wander out to see a massive BG or JQ army coming to crush them, then continue to grind them to dust 24/7

err, would be nice to see the defense tree 11 and 12 traits reworked to bring them up to par with our other grand mastery traits which they dont even come close to right now…

maby have one of em give protection boon…

the defense tree is woefully underpowered at the moment…

also still the 0.1% burst damage per point into the dicipline tree… really?

Transferred off BG a few days ago after being there for a week.
Not as pub friendly as yaks was. Everyone is in their guilds. That won’t be a problem for you if you’re sticking with your guild. Communication between guilds was good though.

By “pub friendly” i mean, the voip. The public channels were frequently unpopulated on all maps, so I couldn’t jump in and listen. Once in a while, it’d be populated, but it was hit and miss. I’d have to go to one of the guild ones but I felt like I was intruding. Otherwise it felt like I was just following icons on maps with no direction. Map chat was kinda lacking.

It wasn’t a thorough impression, I admit, but I was comparing it to my old server on yaks on the things I liked and I was noticing it was missing; so it was difficult to see all the good things.

Went to JQ, all the guilds who use that voip appear to be on their specific borderlands all mixed together. Also map chat is better too.

Be aware however, most important communications do occur on VOIP, this is for a couple of reasons:
1) easy to talk faster than type, especially when your hands are tied up with WASD and mouse
2) some concerns have been raised of the posibility of people making alt accounts to umm, monitor our map chats and report back…
3) If it seems less pug friendly at times this may also be because the guilded commander your looking for is trying very hard NOT to draw more people away from critically important “roaming” jobs (striking and defending supply camps, yaks, etc) which are probably the 1 area we lack as a server, OR he is trying NOT to draw more people away from another (tagged) commander on the map.

being in a major hardcore wvw guild, especially one with very strict rules, isnt for everyone, and the servers 1 weakness is we DO need more people roaming and on defense (manning the siege as it were) than we currently have.

Are you being serious? Please elaborate on how the warrior hammer
needs a slight nerf. I must be missing something because the weapon
has low aoe, no movement abilities except the F1, and is rarely used.

slow attack: check
low damage: check
no movement: check
enemy can just dodge or run away: check
rarely used: check

how does hammer need a nerf again? it needs major buffing to bring it up to par with GS and Axe

SoS Vs JQ Vs BG 18/01-25/01

I have no doubt in my mind that JQ will be the new #1 server.

I understand they have RG only for this week but they have other guilds that transferred in to fill RG’s queue slots.

Yeah I just dont see it. JQ is a strong server, no doubt— but BG is honestly better. Less coverage, which hurts them, but better players in my experience. In any case, I dont see them unseating SOS anytime remotely soon. They’re struggling like mad now, and thats with the help of some really great servers. Still— they put up a great fight and are tons of fun to play against. I dont mean for this post to sound like Im trashing JQ at all— I just dont think they’re going to make it to #1. BG probably has a better chance, if they can solve coverage issues.

In any case, SOS will have fun seeing either server on the battlefield. Good luck, you’ll need it.

problem is that its not about skill, its about coverage…

BG has a terrible late NA early oceanic coverage slot before SEA comes on…

being outmanned on all 4 zones including EBG on a sunday just aint gonna cut it… its just that simple

We would need a couple of major west coast NA guilds or aussie guilds to xfer ove to close the gap… probably wouldnt hurt to have 1-2 more med sized east coast guilds either.

the above is what it would take to beat JQ.

To beat SoS is a whole different story, in that case we would need not only the transfers toget us coverage but would need several smaller guilds to organize to harass supply camps and yaks, cap and defend camps and yaks.

Unfortunatly our pugs are loosely organized at best and are more interested in following our larger guilds around in a karma train because they are used to being able to do this and still win on tier 2. Unfortunatly its not useful at all in tier 1 and its why near the point tick we have virtually none of the supply camps despite whatever else we may have.

superior play should always be >> superior numbers, if anything the difficulty in overcoming superior numbers is where wvw’s problems are right now…

Its becoming a complete numbers game: side with more people online more of the time wins. And if it becomes that way after server transfers stop i dont see it surviving for very long.

AOE is the ANTI zerg… if people are clumped up, you AOE them down with multiple AOE effects to break em up, your resistance to AOE goes up as you divide up into a larger area… This should be obvious

Perhaps there should be a slight increase in the number of targets hit in exchange for a slight decrease on the damage per target for some of the caster classes aoe spells (ele, necro, ranger, etc), but thats about it as far as reasonable changes go…

ya, sadly it only gets worse: at 80 your basicly usin 3 outta 4 shouts all the time, only difference is wether your usin fear me as in wvw or on my mark like in pve.

maby frenzy and bull charge for spvp and stomp for hilly areas in wvw but thats about it.
