not sure if exploit or not but a bug perhaps? i think, often i’ll be auto attacking and i’ll get to hit sword wave twice in a row. unsure of what causes it exactly, so that’s massive damage from the sword AA chain. just food for thought.

I see this if the target I’m attacking dies at the second chain or I switch targets before the 3rd strike and the new target is out of range. You’ll just keep trying to do sword wave over and over until you actually hit a target. ( so I don’t think it’s exploitable ). Sounds like it might be related to the infinity-spin bug.

We don’t need more HP. We’d be unstoppable. We could use some other stuff. But not more HP.

I agree with you when it comes to the healwaybuild and support AH builds. But the problem is that there alot of us also who dont like warriors but want to play more dps-offensive guardians. And we need a bit of a fix tbh. There is no contradiction in making a guardian good support and good dps depended on how you gear and spec them. But now we have 1 option if we want to viable.

This is why a trait that converts power to vitality is nearly essential in zeal. Otherwise people will be stuck runing the same AH and Healway builds seemingly forever. Other builds will never be viable with 13k health.

As I commented earlier, I think it would have to be a master/grandmaster Zeal trait that converted precision into vitality – that would prevent builds which already have access to a lot of vitality (or toughness and healing for that matter ) from gaining too much more.

Merge a couple of Spirit Weapons traits in Zeal and make room for a new Master (possibly grandmaster) trait which lends 10% of Precision to Vitality.

A full zerker dps guard would get 2k extra health and resilient/healway builds would get none.

Personally, I would just like chill to apply to all weapons and with more frequency ( or on demand via virtue ) – that would answer most of my issues.

A meditation guardian is already a lot faster than someone with Perma-swiftness.

The main issue is that it’s mostly burst speed and not a reliable means of keeping someone in melee range so we have to sacrifice sigil or utility slots for soft CC.

As Zosk points out, you really need to reduce most profession’s escapability rather than boosting our own speed.

The only buff I think might be interesting would be for guards to be immune to in-combat slowdown.

This is adjusted from my previous example to take account of the fact you only need to linger for 3 seconds, rather than 4 inside the symbol to stack full duration

Looks like it’s only worth stopping to stack swiftness if you have 20% boon duration or above, unless you have big symbols, in which case it’s always better to keep moving

You travel a range of 18000 per minute ( 300/s ) at normal run speed.

With the new system with 4 stops to maintain to maintain perma Swiftness using Staff#3 you can travel 19152 range ( 319.2/s avg ).

If you cast on the move to stack 4 seconds without stopping then your range per minute is 19584 ( 326.4/s avg )

With the current system OR with the new system if you have bigger symbols and can reliably get a second tick whilst running through for 8 seconds per cast then your range per minute is 21168 ( 352.8/s avg )

With perma swiftness from multiple guards on the move your per minute range is 23940 ( 399/s )

This doesn’t attempt to factor in boon duration

With larger symbols it will always hit twice if the team enters it after its casted. So basically for it to have the exact same function as it has now you need to trait it.

Its a buff, no doubt imo, it just requires a different rotation compared to what we do today and a bit more thought when placing it.

Instead of SoS+Retreat its now SoS+ Retreat+ SoS+ SoS

Personally i would like all symbols to work like in a similar fashion

Depends on whether the AoE cap applies tbh – If 15 people run through then some will get 4 seconds, some might get 8 seconds and some might get none at all.

If it’s unbound though as I hope it will be (despite no other tick effects working this way) then it should be workable for sure

This is potentially even worse than it looks.

Right now you can supply a whole zerg with swiftness by placing it infront of your team and they can all run through it for 8 secs of the boon.

If they’re planning to remove the on-entry bonus entirely and just rely on 4 secs per tick then most likely the 5 ally AoE cap will also apply as it does with other symbol pulse mechanics, so you’re not going to see any benefit by stacking a zerg inside the symbol anyway.

If they keep the on-entry bonus ( but it’s just 4 seconds ) then the zerg will only get 4 secs of swiftness as they run through it, which is hardly with the effort of pushing the 3 key. If you’re traited for larger symbols then 5 allies might get an extra 4 seconds on top of this leading to the train getting strung out.

Will this still apply 4 seconds on entry as well as on pulse?

If not then I’m guessing it will also be subject to the 5 ally AoE cap somewhat reducing zerg mobility ( which could well be the intention )

Symbol of Swiftness change – time to run Retreat.

This is a strange change to me because Guardians are already not very mobile. Most definitely not a fan of only adding 1sec to swiftness if you already have it. Making this skill about as useful as the mesmer’s swiftness buff that stacks with nothing.

You’re reading it wrong – the “8 seconds if you have no swiftness and 1 second if you have swiftness” is what it currently does. What they are suggesting is that it will add 4 seconds per tick regardless.

In practise it might mean a small group has to linger in the symbol to stack swiftness, but a zerg might be able to generate a lot of swiftness with multiple guardians laying down a train of symbols.

I do wonder if the 5 ally limit will apply with the change though… I suspect it might

Yup, thanks. That was different issue which seems to have been stealth fixed in a recent build. Previously the +25% retaliation wasn’t being shown at all in Skill/Virtue tooltips when Virtues II was traited.

Battle presence bug?

As with most AoE skills, Battle Presence is limited to 5 Allies. So someone who is next to you may not receive the boon if there are already 5 others who have it.

As for the Virtue not ticking despite it being recharged – I am unsure also. Obviously you won’t see it ticking if you are at max health already, so hopefully it’s just a display issue.

Do you have Absolute Resolution traited?

“Hold the line” doesn`t take bonus from boon duration.

This is working fine for me in the Mists.

With 0% Boon Duration I have 4 seconds of Protection and 6 seconds of regen.
With 30% Boon Duration I have 5.2 seconds of Protection and 7.75 seconds of regen.

Which game mode did you notice this in?
Also are you sure you’ve not just hit the +100% Boon Duration cap?

What facets of the game are you interested in?

For instance – the shield is pretty worthless in 98% of the PvE content of the game, useless in WvW zergs, ok in sPvP and pretty darn good in WvW roaming. The hammer on the other-hand is a generally useful weapon.

The +2 second change was introduced in Oct 15th patch – but as you say doesn’t seem to apply to Symbol of Protection, which still uses the old system – which is funny because it’s the only one that would benefit positively from the change.

It used to be +50% rounded down, so traited you’d only get an extra second out of Symbol of Protection.

Most of the time you’ll still get perma-protection from the auto-attack chain with it traited – but those who like to reposition in between strikes for maximum effect will likely suffer the loss of the extra second. ( this affects Protector’s Impact too btw )

For what it’s worth, I tested my figures in the Mists with 0 and 100 HP just after the patch was released ( That’s why I know the base healing increase isn’t 100%, but oddly 93% at level 80 – perhaps that’s down to scaling ). It’s always possible sPvP numbers are different from PvE/WvW however, and there has been a trend of stealth changes lately in subsequent builds.

But generally, never trust a tooltip

The ally base heal has seemingly been increased by about 93% and the HP coefficient is now 0.4 instead of 0.2 ( the self heal remains 0.2 )

With 1000HP:

Self: 7525
Ally: 5325

With 0 HP:

Self: 6525
Ally: 3325

However, what I do think needs to be done, and I’ve seen this suggested before, is that our burning should be a different burn condition altogether than the other burns, on top of that, this condition could stack just like bleed does, rather than stacking duration.

Cold blue fire! I’d be happy if it stacked in chill effect (2-3% slow per stack) and have flat tick damage that scales better with condition damage than burn currently does ( for a guardian ).

What does Perfect inscriptions do?
It increases the effect of signets by 20%. This means that Signet of Resolve removes 2 conditions (which was previously bugged, but allegedly has been fixed, which is why I wanted to test this). Also Signet of Mercy bumps Healing by 228 instead of 190, and Signet of Judgment reduces incoming damage more.

Perfect Inscriptions Bug – currently Signet of Resolve cleanses 1 condition every 0.8 seconds ( not 2 every 10 )

Signet of Mercy is +180 healing or +216 with Perfect Inscriptions
Signet of Judgement is 10% Direct Damage reduction or 12% with Perfect Inscriptions

oh ye-ah. I’ve been running dual hydromancy for a while now roaming. It has a make more palpable impact than, for instance, the fire sigil. GS, JI and Sword get you to the target and chill will keep them in range long enough to get your burst off.

Also I find it great for reducing the effectiveness of enemy burst/control builds because of the +66% cooldown effect ( shame it doesn’t apply to thief initiative, but a medi guard is already a pretty effective counter )

Darn, wish I had checked this thread recently. The healing spreadsheet linked in my sig could have saved you guys some time

When I saw the Hammer’s Symbol of Protection healing listed with 3 traits you can’t get all at the same time, I stopped paying attention to your healing spreadsheet. Either its outdated or just wrong.

Heh, I must have been losing the will to live at that point.

I’ve been hoping for some feedback, so thanks for the bug report. I’ve fixed the doc, and instead show how much AH you should get from Persistence and the Symbol of Protection ( if it wasn’t bugged currently )

I was careful to write “beta” and “please add bug reports” at the top – so if you spot anything else off I’d greatly appreciate it if you could tag it with a comment.

Yup the condition cleanse is meant to clear 3 conditions at the start since Oct 15th Patch, but:

  1. The old method was meant to clear 1 condition a second, but was bugged and cleared just 1, but you could clear additional conditions by running repeatedly in and out of the ring
  2. The new method is also bugged any only removes one condition, whilst no longer allowing additional cleanses by moving in and out of the ring
  3. It no longer pulses 5 times, it applies 5 seconds of burning at the start to whoever is inside the ring, and then 5 additional seconds every time a enemy passes in or out of the ring. I tested on the jogging golem in the mists and was able to stack over 20 secs of burning on him as he ran right through the ring twice
  4. I still haven’t found a mob that’ll give me a long enough condition for a conclusive test, but the duration reduction component looks like it’s -33% and not -25%

Does the 6th bug out like other runes which give damage bonus based on boons or conditions?

If it does then you could slot a couple of Runes of Svanir for another +20% duration instead
