The dev who did the puzzle has stated it was intended only 5% of players finish, so I can’t help but think having to do it with other players is supposed to be part of the difficulty.
Draaky, I’ve bee told the skins are on some standard equipment, so if you’re after the look alone, you might be better off hunting that down instead.
Ah, I think that bar is actually unrelated to anything you do. What you do is follow the clues on the notes (or if you’re like me, the guide on the wiki). Ability 5 with the scanner actually changes depending on how close you are. The sort of shrugging figure means you’re cold, the dancing figure means close enough a scan might be worth it. How you know what TYPE of scan I haven’t figured out, I just have been hauling around bunches of (thankfully cheap) candy corn.
@ SamTheGuardian Ah, thanks. I probably won’t be able to get the people together then. Is there any interesting lore tidbits I should look for when stuff starts being posted on the wiki?
Every time I try to help someone with information, they get snippy. Which makes me wonder, why bother replying?
Should be dropping in the Labyrinth. You can open the chest once per day when you do it, for a chance to find the rest of the pieces I believe. They ARE tradable.
I don’t think they were intended to be inaccessible, since they were all over the place yesterday night. Maybe one of the patches today broke it?
Eh. They’ll patch in something nice, people will use it in a way not intended, and it will get taken out entirely before most people see it. And people using it in a way “not intended” will keep everything. It’s pretty much a pattern at this point. On the plus side, every extra person in Lion’s Arch is one more not underfoot as I try to get past Risen
.
As far as I know, you can’t. Best you can do is try getting to another instance where they aren’t. Griefing is allowed (or at least there is no way to report it). And do not post their name to the forum, or that can get YOU in trouble.
“How dare you complain.” Wow, serious much or that much of a fanboy? Gosh, someone has an opinion about the product they bought and it doesn’t match yours! Horrors!
I don’t have pictures, but if you choose Ascalon she is pale, Elona she is more african looking, and Canthan she should be more asian looking. I’m uncertain what the Krytans look like. (I felt a bit silly when I gave my character dark skin, chose Ascalon, and discovered it was the northern European area. Oops! Wiki didn’t mention THAT.)
Err… well if you don’t believe anyone on the forum, I suppose you can go run it a few times yourself?
There is the quest for book pieces, parts 1 and 2 are in. If you are lower level, you will likely need help with part two. There is also a maze accessible through doors in Queensdale. There is pumpkin carving, which has an achievement though no rewards besides the amusement of watching the face appear. Technically, there is a jumping puzzle also, but there are numerous reports of people griefing others, so whether you’d consider that fighting other players…
There is a 24 hour time limit in effect now. You can run it as often as you want, the chest simply won’t open. If it won’t open period, that’s a bug, unfortunately.
Ahhh, okay. I don’t pvp, so I’ll put it on my list of events to ignore. Thanks!
Act 3 is supposed to be pure fluff, I think, since Anet feels watching it on Youtube is comparable to being there. Perhaps the arrival of the Mad King himself (but this is pure speculation on my part).
I find people who pontificate about it being an MMO, not a solo game hilarious. Really, if that’s important to them, the question is why they aren’t in EQ1, not why people who prefer soloing are in GW2.
Err, is this a pvp game?
Heh, I’m American, and was fool enough not to jump into the event immediately. The people who went in first did well, everyone coming after them can expect to experience it and pray to come out with enough to pay for repair costs.
@ Aefion I remember that stupid horse, he kicks like a mule. Only way I was able to kill him was kiting and luck. Which was a bit disheartening for my melee warrior, but melee is kiss of death in Personal Story instances, heavy armor or no.
I might finish the Personal Story once enough people in my guild hit 80. So we’re talking months and months after I’ll be ready. PUG? Not likely. In 10 years of MMORPG’s, I’m fed up with L2P noob from kids with curfews who have never heard of The Sleeper. Wouldn’t be so bad if there was a way to DELETE the darned quest, instead of having to stare at it.
Yep, I pretty much picked the wrong Order (I may be a warrior, but he’s an Ascalonan descended human with no love for Charr.) And the Vigil armor makes me cringe. Ah, well, ignore it in RP, get nice looking stuff off the trading post, and RESEARCH next time for me.
…snickers
I assume whoever did the sound effects decided to add something “cool” without looking at the script. I can see how it must have been jarring. (But since it hasn’t happened to me, yet, I’m going to giggle about it.)
Any opinion on the minimum needed to run it?
Correcting the comment about drop rates and recommending how to get the items if you’re interested isn’t helpful? Okay, try this… Google. Wiki.
Have fun!
Dual swords worked very well for me in PVE. Probably going back to them once I ditch this greatsword that is conspiring with cliffs to kill me. (Alright, I survive usually, but my PRIDE dies a little.)
Technically, exotics still have a remote chance of dropping from the chests. They just made it so you can only get anything out of the chests every 10 hours, to stop the market from dropping. So hop on in, beat the champion down if you can find enough people, but if you want the gear, make with the speedy gold farming elsewhere and hit the TP.
Oh, hey, you can skip and ignore the entire Halloween event, period! And you might be better off, too.
11AM-1PM on a Sunday is church time for some people, maybe they didn’t want to worry about hitting that? Who knows…
Nope, people just kept doing the Labyrinth properly and gaining loot. So, now you can do it as many times as you want… and get nothing! Yayyyyy. Now there aren’t enough people to do it at all for some, oddly enough. Oops.
sighs Teach me not to do content as soon as it’s out. No money for stuff, so I hope it’s fun to do at least.
Drat, that’ll teach me not to jump in right away.
Ouch, a little rough on the people who sank a bunch of gold into crafting them!
Can someone elaborate why tanking is bad in dungeons? I am currently more focused on soloing and have a fair amount poured into Power, but had hoped to branch out eventually with my guild.
I don’t know, he DID try to make that one lady play Prince Oswald says…
Why do people seem to place such value on things being completable only for an “elite” group? It’s a game, for fun, if you want to swell body parts, take the spam filter off your e-mail…
You take the waypoint back to the beginning and click the door.
Hop over to the human starting area, and there will be pumpkins marking entrances to the Realm. I tripped over them working on something else, oddly enough.
I love candy corn
.
If it was a small event, they wouldn’t be worrying about “spoilers” and making it one time.
New human holiday: Waterballoon the Charr Week! …what? I’m sure everyone in Ebonhawke could get behind it!
Humans seem to have far less flavor than the other races, at least let us have this bone.
sighs I’ll make it, but due to the extremely short notice, at least half my guild will be missing it. This is gonna sound strange but… for their sake, I kinda hope it’s not too cool, so they aren’t missing much!
@ rondo No, that’s a pretty good recounting of the reaction of some people on the forums. Cash store helps pay for content that I (and everyone else who doesn’t buy much) enjoy for free. Yet anyone who feels they wasted their money, the best customers who are essentially paying for the rest of us, are being castigated for being foolish enough to spend money. Better hope someone’s “foolish” enough to buy things in the future, folks, or expect your “free” stuff to taper off…
That’s not to say everyone complaining is being reasonable or rational. There are some who are being borderline insane. But the reasonable and the irrational are getting the same responses.
Ahem. I am going to be very bad and post to this thread a second time. We NEED quaggan stuff. It’s vital to… uh… cuteness!
Yikes. While I agree the chests were handled badly by Anet, crying fraud seems a shade… extreme.
I only play PVE, so not certain why Vengance is supposed to be so awesome. It’s always been a gamble whether I’d die after killing the mob anyway. Thus, to me it’s not a savior button so much as a “I’m gonna die anyway, maybe I can kill it and loot repair costs before I bite it” button. Depending on how low the health is on the enemy, I will choose to hit it with rocks and hammers instead, since that’s guaranteed to revive me if I win. Thus far, it’s worked much better than relying on Vengance.
Addressing the Warrior's "Hundred Blades" immobility issue: a proposal

If 100 Blades would actually all HIT it would be awesome. Given it’s interrupted about 50% of the for me in PVE, I find it less impressive. Between that and my issues with Whirlwind Attack, I’m ditching greatsword next upgrade. (If there’s a cliff I will send myself off it, without fail. In fact, I think the cliffs may be following me around, waiting for me to use it…)
Could be worse, Kimbald, back in the day SOE flat out DELETED their forums. Of course, that bit them on the keister, since the community made outside forums the company couldn’t influence. Nonetheless, I’d take this as a sign that Anet doesn’t want to hear it. Lacking a feedback option in-game (which I highly suggest to the company!), people are just going to have to go to outside forums or vote with their wallets, via the next event.
