Just an FYI for your server, but you could try to take supply camps back with less than 30 from your side.

they could also defend them with less than 30 people too.. if they make it there in time.

Believe it or not we never used to have 20-30 people respond to camps being flipped. The fact that you guys are constantly in our map, means there’s constantly people from our side as well. But I do have mad respect for RH, very annoying and good pvpers. And we can’t use a 15 man pug group to take your 15. You guys use combo fields, stealths, and portals properly. So most of the time we do need the numbers advantage. Of course when GoM does face an organized force from our side, they generally get rolled.

….. GW2 is a game of counters. To know how to counter someone you need to know what their class is capable of. You need to be able to read what weapons they are using, what their secondary weapons are, what utility skills they use, their skill cooldowns, and very good players can even read what build an opponent is using.

That…or you can play a thief. Who cares what they’re using? They have cool downs, you don’t. Complex mechanics and skill chains to setup a spike? Ha ha ha ha ha, spam a leap finisher that can hit for as much as 7k a pop. Spike setups are for chumps who play those other 7 classes. Fight going poorly? Just disengage with stealth and catch your breath for a bit, spam a leap finisher through a smoke field a few times while you think about what to do. Don’t worry, your a thief, this is what you do.

What’s that you say? Can thieves do anything other than spam stealth and massive damage? Of course they can. It’s called sucking, and they have a plethora if versatile means to suck, all of which should suit any sucky play-style. There’s the “I’m really trying guys.” support build, the “excuse me sir but could you remove your boot from my rectum.” bunker build, and the “Where’d my HP get off to? I swear it was right there a second ago.” non-stealth roamer.

My personal favorite is the, “Look, ma! I took the training wheels off!” stealthless gunslinger build.

I’ve BEATEN my own profession WITHOUT STEALTH, I have beaten other professions WITHOUT STEALTH and the professions I have yet to beat I LEARN ABOUT BY ROLLING THEM (i.e. mesmers and engis).

Have you ever posted a video of your gameplay? If so, I’d like to see it.

I’m not Zacchary, but I do play stealthless and run what the thief forum universally refers to as the worst weapon-set in the game (pistol/pistol). I enjoy the challenge of hunting other thieves even though there’s no real hard counter for stealth other than to simply be alert during the fight and anticipate their actions. For the record, I do consider d/p to be a strong build, but not over-powered. The only thing I see wrong with it is that the current game mechanics allow them to constantly whiff their attacks over and over again without breaking stealth, which rewards the thief’s sloppy play instead of good defense and reflexes by the defender.

Yeah, Body Shot doesn’t really help the solo gunslinger. I’d rather see it replaced with a short-range cone attack that doesn’t rely on targeting (see: Blunderbuss). Heck, I’d even be happy if it was kept the same as now but if they simply swapped Vulnerability out with Chill or Weakness. Both would contribute far more to my playstyle than what’s currently available.

HS is deadly against wounded opponents, but it’s still otherwise effective as an inexpensive gap-closer no matter how much life your opponent has. Against extremely mobile players, keeping up consistent close-range pressure with HS looks like spam even if a good chunk of the damage is actually coming from your auto-attacks.

People just tend to over-react a bit when they get blown up and cry 222222222 instead of paying attention and learning how to counter it.

Forgot to ask earlier… Who’s your norn gs/axe+shield glassy warrior? I had a lengthy 1v1 with him yesterday that ended with him canceling a bull rush into a shield bash to throw off my stun breaker timing and then nailing me with eviscerate. It was a pretty sweet play. No button spams throughout the entire fight, just good, solid gameplay and timing.

I’d like to take another crack at him before the match-up ends. It’s a rare treat to lose to a warrior while I’m running this build.

I would concede that depending on build, P/P may be better than shortbow for 1v1, but in that case I would bring D/P or D/D to compliment the S/D. Not sure why you bring P/P instead of D/P or D/D if you only roam/small man?

The only fix stealth really needs is for the revealed buff to kick in immediately as a weapon skill is used, regardless if it hits or not. Thieves would still retain their tactical advantage, but wouldn’t be rewarded for mindlessly spamming backstab until they hit.

I’d like to see some videos of BS/VS fights.

After using them for so long, I simply can’t live without Centaur runes and Withdraw.

Also, we had this thief vs warrior speed debate not too long ago over on the WvW boards. I did a few speed trials with each character and then put the two best runs head-to-head. (Note: I prefer heartseeker spam for mobility, but I went with the suggested infiltrator’s arrow instead).

Since this was intended to be a footrace, I didn’t use any teleport skills requiring a target and STILL found thief to be slightly faster. Realistically, even though you can catch the warrior eventually, he’ll have plenty of time to map away.

Unless of course, you add those teleport skills back in.

What lol? You think you wiped us with half numbers? Kid, you need to learn how to count rofl. You are a bunch of players running with Bunker, healing, small man builds. We had just as many as you. You wiped our pugs, the 3 we had rallying any of you that went down. When we get any of you below half, you haul kitten and heal. Yea, you did wipe us in that like 10v10? and it was about 8 VS there at that. We all run Zerg busting builds, stakitten , hammers etc while you guys run these burst weapons. If you feel proud beating us in a 10v10, then you have so kitten low priorities. Get 25 players and do a GvG, then see how it works out.

As you see in this picture, just from my utilities and weapon, we’re not running any sort of roaming builds. We fight zergs, not a bunch of roamers. It’s WvW, not Spvp.

So right now 07/25/2013 8:13pm CT we only posses our starting castle (Devona’s Rest) in Eternal BG. GoM has then all, even keep plus a few towers and camps from IoJ side.
DR looks like a rank 9 tier right now…oh is up to rank 8.

OK. If we need to wait for queue went they are too many people playing WvW, specially on happy reset fridays, even small WvW communities could queue sometimes. Having type that if ANET just kicks people out of WvW the battle fight will be even at least for 30 or more mins. If we DR or any other server got so few people online in WvW they should sent a message like in PvP to balance the fights…and player will have 3 more mins of playing time before they got kick out…plus kicked players will get a chest with badges for participation, then go queue.

Think that’s so simple to manage.

I enjoy it. I mostly run around with tM/XOXO/SPCA and look for fights. Sure I miss all the people I used to play and talk with from GoM, but I wanted to switch things up and get a different perspective.

Lucky you aren’t from IoJ or someone might have put a contract out on you.

Maybe I’m just weird, but I would be rather thrilled if there were ever a contract out on me. It would definitely make encounters way more intense and fun. But then again, my idea of fun is poking at zergs and making them chase me around the map. :/

On a serious note, less than 15 DR did that to your map…. That’s the downside to zerging as hard as you do. When literally every single person on the server is in the same place, that is what happens.

Well.. it started out with GoM taking our keep in EB and spawn camping us.

Quick call on the bat phone and 5 of my guildies show up and off we go with the pots of red paint in hand to GoM bordeland.

10 minutes and 2 golems later, we have GoMs Garrison.

Then Bay.

Then Hills.

I would trade our Keep in EB for that any day of the week.

Regardless of whatever feud you’ve got against IoJ, DR deserves a spokesman who doesn’t give up on day one. The groups and players from DR that I respect would never ever give us a free win. If you’ve already made up your mind that GoM will win this week, then at least make us fight for it.

I am hoping that GoM has started to see a difference overall from AR. We have been diligently working to build stronger communication on our server, and I think it’s starting to show, even if it’s just slightly. AR has some of the best militia in the game and some great roamers.

AR I apologize for not being on the last few to entertain and amuse map chat with my website promoting. Work and stuff. But I will be here for another reset and look forward to working toward a stronger AR and a bright future for an amazing little server.

Keep it up, Dovgan. Even in your rebuilding phase, AR is still one of my favorite servers to fight against. I have complete faith that in a short time, you’ll be back at our throats, leaner, meaner, and looking for blood. The GoM/AR/BP rivalry was one of my favorite times so far in WvW, and if we can bounce back from multiple exoduses (or whatever the kitten a plural exodus is called), I know AR can as well. We both have some BP kitten to kick.

Hi guys thanks for the replies. The reason I made the video was to show that p/p among other builds and weapons sets are viable(not optimal) if you want to play them because they seem fun do so. Now in regards to the damage of pistol vs dagger, of course dagger being a melee weapon is going do to more damage and it should the risks are much greater. You have to be in 130 range while with the pistol you can be kiting away at a safe distance of 900 . All melee weapons do more damage then ranged.

Also with p/p you wont have much trouble vsing other thiefs(or any class) as you have blinds, stealths, interrupts and channelling attacks that will follow a thief into stealth. Most thiefs will die within two unloads and a few auto attacks. Now the bunker/high regen/ condition ranger in the video was actually and very very good ranger with a good build. I thought it would be nice to show what a ranger can do if played well as we dont see or hear about it enough. I don’t know if he 2v1 with ease he was pretty close to dying a couple times, few mistakes on my part allowed him to live. Also I was a total noob with a sword, it was my 2nd day with it and I never really used it that much (Sd as off set wep to deal with high boon build esp retaliation guards) .

As long as Honeybuns plays this game, he will always keep goleming things. The difference is where normal players build 80 golems and attack a keep, Honeybuns builds 80 golems and tries to spell things with them.

In fact, just last week I remember a screen shot of golems spelling out something along the lines of X86R….I think that was it, right?

Many of our Roamers are on GoM BL due to AR BL and IoJ BL always being so hot. I’d look for [Prot], [HARD], [POW] and [FT]. They all have good roamers within them.
