I would love both of those ideas. Thief condi-cleanse options are downright abysmal without using stealth. Using a sword helps somewhat, but it’s way too easy to spam conditions in the current meta. I kinda wish they’d tweak Vitality to give condi duration reduction. Seems like Vitality should help protect against Condition Damage in the same regard that Toughness helps against Power.

I’ve been busy the last couple of days. I did pop in for a bit on Saturday afternoon, but that’s it.

I think [BUNS] and [RISE] should resolve their differences with violence and youtube videos.

While trying to think of ways to counter the current condi-spam meta with my build (I run no-stealth by choice, so I accept the fact that I’m extremely weak to condi-builds), I started messing around with ideas for our stolen skills. Some skills, like Consume Plasma from a mesmer, are extremely good while others are downright terrible. Throw Gunk from an engi misses half the time and is pretty useless except to use as an ethereal field, and Ice Shard Stab is so extremely situational that I pretty much don’t bother stealing from eles in the first place.

I think the stolen skills should represent a thief’s ability to mimic or counter his opponent directly. The current stolen skills are a nice foundation for that concept, but as the other classes have evolved, I feel there’s plenty of room for the thief to adapt as well. Here’s some ideas on what I think would be pretty cool. I’m not going to bother putting specific durations or whatever, but I think the stolen abilities should be scaled to roughly half the duration/intensity of the profession being stolen from for the sake of fairness. After all, the other professions are the masters of those skills… we’re just trying to turn it against them.

Elementalist
Current: Ice Shard Stab – attack and chill a foe
New: Gain Might, Protection, Swiftness, Regeneration (shorter versions of the attunement bonuses, basically)

Engineer
Current: Throw Gunk – inflict a random condition
New: Remove all conditions and gain immunity to conditions for a couple of seconds (sort of like an Endure Pain for condis)

Guardian
Current: Daze foe with a mace crack
New: Grant Aegis, Stability, and Regeneration

Mesmer
Current: Consume Plasma – gain all boons
This one is good as is, or can even be nerfed slightly. It’s THAT good, in my opinion.

Necromancer
Current: Skull Fear – aoe fear
New: Keep the aoe fear, also transfer conditions from you to nearby opponents (short duration… like a weaker version of Plague Signet+Epidemic). If that’s too powerful, then scratch that and perhaps create a Well of Power at your location instead when you use the aoe fear.

Ranger
Current: Healing Seed – water field, regen, and pulse condi removal
Good as is. Extremely powerful in group situations.

Thief
Current: Blinding Tuft – stealth + blind nearby foes
This one is also good as is. Even though I don’t use it. >:T

Warrior
Current: Whirling Axe – spin attack
New: I’m kinda torn on this one. I like the idea of whirling axe, but I think it should have stability on it as well. But I’d also kind of dig the idea of Endure Pain instead. Screw it, give us all three!

The likelihood of any of these ideas getting implemented is absurdly low, but it’s fun to dream. Anybody else got any ideas on how to improve some of our shoddier stolen skills?

Regrettably SF has enough trouble keeping the giant walmart guild from harassing the other guilds that are smaller but get much greater results with less people.
They seem to think “T1” tactics/strat is gathering up a giant guild zergball and hope thier numbers will make up for thier lack of skill.
It never dawned on them that hitting specific places in other maps besides EBG at the right time to apply pressure to the oposition might help.
Any kind of strategy is beyond them and over thier heads.

Regrettably the Walmart was out of Preparation H when this guy went there, so now he has come here to rage about Walmart.

Currently leveling up myself a thief to use p/p with no stealth, she’s currently at level 36. I didn’t think a thief that didn’t rely on stealth was possible so I avoided the class like the plague, but some taco thief gunslinger montage changed that. I’m taking my necro of life blast spamming since this looks like a far superior version and I’ll wait till siphoning is a thing you can use.

Let me know how your thief evolves as you level her up and if you make any changes that you find work better. I dueled a friend from NSP recently who took my build and tweaked it to include venoms. It worked surprisingly well and those duels were some of the most fun I’ve ever had in GW2.

All, look at it this way. There is a big gap right now between what the ANET dev team thinks and what people on this forum think. If the league turns out to be as unbalanced as everyone in the forums think, then you have every right to criticize the ideas of the dev team going forward. Until we see the rules though, maybe there is something ANET isn’t telling us with the league set up/scoring.

The damage is already done and the masses have already stampeded to servers with the best chance of winning with minimal effort. This renders the WvW experience in lower tier servers as practically “unplayable” within the context of what the game mode was advertised to be.

Sure, those of us who remain still get our kicks by ignoring the scoreboard and roaming/dueling/gvging/etc instead, but that type of behavior has been actively discouraged through forum posts by devs and patches that further expand the gap between zerging and skilled play.

Drop stealth completely and bring along utilities that give you mobility instead. No need to feel pigeon-holed into trying to play P/P as if it were one of the other weapon sets. It’s got it’s own style and flow.

I doubt you guys would enjoy fighting the 20 or so of us left on GoM’s current incarnation. But I’m always thrilled when we draw NSP because it means a great week of challenging duels and roaming play.

Btw, I went back through my video clips and I DID actually fight you during that last matchup. The reason I didn’t remember was because you were on your engi instead of your necro. Or at least I think that was you (tM condi-spam engi, and we fought on the firefly ledge in lowlands camp).

On the bright side, this frees up some playtime to improve my skills at Smite.

I think it’s because of the cost of gems to each server. SBI has the lowest server pop of any server in the top 12 (they are going to be top 12 soon) and GoM is probably the most affordable overall.

Sadly, that’s not true. GoM is “Very High” population around the clock, which makes building our WvW community extremely difficult due to having max transfer fees. WvW can be a ghost town on some nights, but pop over into a Scarlet event and it’s common to see 10+ commander tags running around.

NSP has the best roamers in the silver league, hands down.

It’s insanely fun, but this is like playing Dark Souls blind-folded style difficulty level. Especially since I’m pretty squishy and have kitten all for condition removal. Even when I’d drag you halfway across the map to get a 1v1, another 4 or 5 would be hot on the trail and jump in the moment I’d stop to fight you. Good dodging practice, though.
