Actually, I’d like to extend that sentiment to all three servers. With leagues coming up, many people chose to take the easy route and transfer to other servers that were in better position to place highly. Those that stayed behind to represent and fight for AR/FC/GoM have my full respect. Thanks for playing hard and not giving up on your server.

Sure would be nice if a server’s WvW players got a boost (+MF%, +WEXP%, increased T7 mat drops) for each temple their PvErs have open. After all, PvErs get to enjoy the stat bonuses we earn for them by playing in WvW.

This is a sad state for the game mode to get in and its only going to get worse when you throw top 3 servers up against the bottom 9 or so, at least in the top league. I don’t know if the bottom will be as badly imbalanced, but I suspect it won’t be great either.

The coverage gap difference is pretty large among the lower tiers as well. Having four leagues would indeed help with parity, but most of us couldn’t give two kittens about this stupid league idea anyway.

Long as they are reasonably attainable for people who actually put time and effort into WvW. Would be a cool way to identify other WvWers outside of it, and a good marketing tactic to get more players in it. But if its as out of reach as the titles or something, then forget it.

Definitely not like the titles. More like skins for badges, skins as loot drops, skins for some new kind of token (Anet loves their tokens), or skins for WvW ranks — basically the same system Anet uses for rewarding skins in all other parts of the game.

Given the current shake on how Anet rewards WvW players, expect these WvW-exclusive skins to cost around 100 badges…. plus 10 gold, 20 laurels, a full stack of ectos, and a trophy that you can only get from a legendary npc mob that spawns when your server wins 1st place in their league.

Meanwhile, these skins will be introduced in a later PvE patch as common drops from Risen-type creatures.

It has been a fun week GoM and ET. I was waiting for this match-up for so long after I switched to NSP, but by the time it came so many of the guilds I had grown with on GoM had left. I have to say that I’m loving the gunslinger setup, Taquito. I’ve tweaked it of course. I’m using some celestial armor (chest and pants) as well as the soldiers. I have found it to give me similar survivability but a good deal more punch through crit and crit dmg.

I’ve been thinking about that as well. I started with the Soldier armor and never really strayed from it, but now that I’m a much better player than I was when I first chose my gear, I should probably edge a little more towards damage. I’m also slowly replacing my weapons with the new Assassin stat set.

And with condi being the new flavor of the month, I’m thinking about picking up sword just because of the overwhelming lack of cleanse options available for thieves that don’t stealth. As it stands, I’ve got no shot against condi-spam necros/engis even if I outplay them.

Hey BS, you are all good players and you run really good groups with tight coordination. I respect many of you. What I don’t respect is being asked to duel and then being told my build is cheese and the only reason I won is because of a certain food. If you can’t take losing and have to resort to insults or excuses then don’t duel.

I’m gonna switch my build up and adapt to fights, you can’t expect me to run the same thing every single time. There’s an infinite number of factors that can play into a fight. Some of your members are just really rude and it’s not something I’m gonna miss.

I agree BS is rude they call my necro cheese all the time call tons of builds cheese even their own builds cheese. Everyone calls condition cheese or regen bunker cheese or stealth cheese evade spam cheese….. the only thing not cheese for these people is direct damage. Clearly the only skilled meta was the start of the game when some classes could spam a few buttons and kill a target in seconds.

Even my build has been called cheese, and it’s about as pure direct damage and as far away from any meta build as possible. This game just breeds whiny players.

Most roamers i’ve found this week were warriors that use all those dash skills to flee when they know they are going to lose… I’m starting to despite warriors more than thieves…

To bad your distance traveled doesn’t really matter. Give me one example you and an enemy player are raising each other to an objective. Theirs have access to stealth which is the biggest mobility due to the fact you don’t know where to attack where and what you can’t see. And a 3 difference is pretty good for a class that requires mainly on melee combat for effectiveness and the thieves lack of twirl or charge attacks it seems very fair.

Easy example is when you’re chasing your prey or running from a zerg. Sure, you can use stealth, but that’s a bit of a different argument. I’m just trying to illustrate flat mobility here.

could’ve been faster if you made use of steal to regain ini faster (plus 15s swiftness plus an extra shadowstep if you aim well).

That’s true, but in the topic I made that video for, we excluded target-dependent abilities (thus no Infiltrator’s Signet, Steal, etc). This was just a simple foot-race assuming no mobs in your path. Basically, we gave every possible advantage to the warrior and thief still won.

Yeah, there’s a few skills out there that are active in a cone area and don’t need a target to work. Blunderbuss is an example of one of those skills capable of damaging a stealthed player even though it’s from a ranged weapon and doesn’t put up a red circle.

Why are we doing so bad this week? We were doing so well these past months. What happened?

Probably a combination of burnout and transfers. Plus with the upcoming league crap arriving soon, most servers will be picked clean as the fairweathers and casuals move on to zerg servers to collect sweet lootz.

Meanwhile, those of us who enjoy competitive gaming have to dodge zergs and hunt each other down for any sort of a challenge. I didn’t really have much time over the holiday weekend to play, but the gaming time I did have was spent dueling friends from NSP/ET and the rest went to playing Smite and Divekick (lol).

The build doesn’t use Stealth, yet, I’m still testing this in WvW and if I see that is needed, i’ll take Quick Recovery and add 5 points in Shadow Arts for the minor trait and use Hide in Shadows for heal. I prever Withdraw right now because with this build I need to maintain movement and criple my foes as much times as I can to maintain distance. In PvE I’m almost 100% sure that will work even without testing it.

Hope you guys can help with suggestions to get the build better

Seems like a pretty solid start. You’re going to have a tough time against skilled WvW roamers, especially those with heavy condition builds or some of the higher damage-dealing regen builds out there (like warriors), but your damage and mobility will be good enough to let you pick fights on your own terms.

As initiative-hungry as p/p and shortbow are, I still don’t think you really need to go 20 deep in Trickery. Ricochet is not all that great, even after the recent buff, and the extra max initiative is only helpful at the start of a fight. I’d leave 10 in Trickery and move the other 10 to go 30 deep in Acrobatics. The extra 10% damage from Fluid Strikes is awesome if you manage your endurance well, and you have some great options for your grandmaster trait (plus the extra vitality is nice). Quick Pockets would probably be your best bet so you can keep switching back and forth between the steady dps from your guns to the poison from your shortbow to wear people down and prevent their healing. I’m also a huge fan of Pain Response… it’s saved my life a ridiculous amount of times.

Stealth would not be necessary with this type of build.

I kept waving. And if you are going to jump me, yes I am going to headshot you until the cows come home. I’m still learning the ropes of the thief but getting pretty good at it now. It’s going to take quite a bit more practice but hopefully some fight clubs will get me up to speed to where I can hold my own.
