It’s a shame. The Guild Wars 2 version is really nice looking. It’s extremly rare to see anyone using the Guild Wars 2 HoM version as it looks nothing like the the Guild Wars 1 one. It’s puzzling why they did this. They said we were getting the Fellblade then they change the looks to something else. I’m really hoping they switch the look to the Guild Wars 1 version. Since we had a Dev reponse, maybe they’re looking into it.

I got an email from her and I’m hopeful that something eventually gets passed along to the people who can make a change. I’m sure even if it is something they plan on getting to it’s way down on the priority list – which is cool, but some word of confirmation that it may eventually happen would absolutely be welcomed.

The fact that the sword looked so amazing in GW1 and it has a dull, barely noticeable effect in GW2 is very disappointing.

I’m sure some developers have clicked on this thread to see what all the fuzz is about, CC Danicia did confirm that even if threads don’t get a dev reply they are reviewed. It would be interesting to read what ArenaNet’s thoughts are regarding the Fellblade’s appearance in both Guild Wars games and Lord Taeres’ Shadow.

Personally I wouldn’t be surprised if ArenaNet replied with a simple, “No” since they probably have bigger things to worry about. The HoM Fellblade really does need an upgrade though, I miss the animation it had in GW1.

(Nice GW1 Fellblade video by the way)

Thanks appreciate it. Yeah I botched up the sound on accident but I figured hey the video is what matters. And yeah like I said it’d be nice, even if it was something they do down the road, but I’d love to see it happen. I mean the GW1 animation is amazing.. And then we get the GW2 version.. which should be better, but is so disappointingly worse.

You spent time to rightfully get an item that’s in GW1, not GW2. Did you spend XX hours or XX gold to get it in GW2? Nope. So why should you get an effect where users have to spend a copious amount of time in GW2 to get Lord Taeres’s shadow sword effects?

Not sure what your problem is, but from the beginning HoM was always going to be “Earn GW2 rewards by playing GW1.” Before we saw any images or gameplay of GW2 we knew that is what HoM was.

So how is that mocking GW2 players in any way? Not to mention the people in question are still GW2 players as well… So you say all of these things about “GW1 players”… but we’re still playing GW2 just the same as you.

We just did more work than you in the previous game before we became GW2 players.

I find a problem more in when they swing. Look at females (of all races except Charr and Asura). Norn and human females have the most noticeable problem. When they swing, it looks really awkward and uncomfortable like their entire torso is being twisted almost to the point of coming off as they do it.

Next time you get some free time, spam 1 on a greatsword with a female norn or human and see what I mean.

Wildstar doesn’t appear to me. I get my WoW fix from a private TBC server, and TESO just looks like Skyrim with a monthly fee. I will be sticking to GW2. Who knows, hopefully something is released in GW2 that eventually peaks your interests again.

Until then good luck and have fun with whatever you play.

P.S. There’s more than 1 good game that can exist at once. No need to choose especially since this is free once you own the game – which you do. Just check back every now and then you may be surprised. Or at the very least keep up to date with the game release section on the GW2 home page.

Take care.

Fair point. It’s only a suggestion I had a random thought and figured I’d post about it =)

Once again, if you read the OP you’d see that I’m requesting 1 of 2 things. I’d prefer if they just made it back to its GW1 appearance which I have a video for. If not, if that isn’t doable or whatever the case may be, I’d like to see it at the very least updated to match the smoke effect of the new 1h reskin.

We’re not mocking GW2 players. In fact I’ve put well over 2,000 hours into this game already and me playing 7 years of GW1 (you know that game that sorta kinda funded GW2? Yeah that game?) has nothing to do with that.

The fact remains that the weapon we got in GW2 was miles behind what it should have been from the start and many were disappointed with it day 1. We all thought “Well it’s beta surely they’ll change it.” They never did so here I am suggesting that they revisit the subject and update it.

I don’t want the HoM GreatSword to become purple, but making the smoke more dense and visible would be nice.

Since I was a loyal GW1 player for 7 years and still drop in to say hi.

Nice to see a fellow GW1 vet! I myself have just over 7 years on my account as well. Anyway yeah if you read the OP I am not requesting any sort of recoloring of the HoM Fellblade. Specifically requesting either the GW1 effect to return or the new 1H smoke effect be applied.

Thanks for stopping by!

Maybe make 2 kinds of fallblades for people with HoM. It would be a nice addition for GW1 players.

Why would someone want the sword with less effects? In GW1 it had (IMO) one of the coolest sword effects. I’d definitely not want it any less than that, and to see it as such in GW2 is disappointing.

Most likely it’ll be the “battle at divinities reach” mentioned in the infinity ball personal line for the asura.

I keep hearing about this infinity ball thing. What is this?

Basically it a Personal Story available to the Asura. The Asura who invents this device story leads to them discovering that a Asura built the Steam Creatures in an alternative reality and took over the world. During the revelation this Asura mentions a battle taking place at Divinity’s Reach prior to them taking over the world. After they defeated the Elder Dragons and established their rule they send the creatures to the past to conquer it sooner, or some similar purpose. Wooden Potatoes has crafted a hypothesis that people are taking as literal. He’s also why you see people thinking the Sylvari are servants of the Jungle Dragon among other theories…

Hope this helps.

Yeah thanks it does. On the one hand I appreciate Woodenpotatoes for creating lore videos, but I don’t like that a lot of the speculation and theories that he creates are taken as gospel by his viewers.

Why is a human storyline being forced?

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: TehPwnerer.7215

TehPwnerer.7215

I should be surprised by this thread but sadly Im not…

Story taking place in Norn and Charr lands. “had nothing to do with the Norn or Charr” Even though the main attacking force was predominantly charr.

But the most influential leader in the area, having a jubilee from one of the races of humans that includes representatives from every race is all about humans…

OP sounds like he wants to complain about something, and if the event took place in any place but the Black Citadel would be complaining. They have overhauled a section of the city that the players have been talking about for awhile and intergrated a story with it. For all you know they have a similar plan for the charr. Should anyone that doesn’t play a not care?

Why should you care about a human because you play a charr? In that case why should you care about, Abaddon, the asura, the dragon aspects, The mad king, the norn, the sky pirates, the centaur, Tixx, the sylvari, or anyone who lives in the sea of sorrows. They are not charr and all of them have less effect on the charr than the leader of the human’s who is sitting on a delicate treaty that may or may not send the charr back into war, and some of which are fighting the charr actively right now!

Why are you forced to care about the queen? How about, because this chapter of the story of Tyria is about her? How about because this story is about more than one person, or race. The main story revolves around sylvari, the other events have revolved around the Charr and Norn and the new fractal will be Asuran based. How about because it’s about the lore of the whole world that includes humans?

I should be surprised by this type of reply, but I’m not. You take my words too literally. I’ve played and enjoyed every single event and living story update thus far. I just don’t feel that it’s right to have one entirely centered around humans and NOTHING else.

Also I’m not someone who likes to complain. I’ve done nothing but support GW2 since before it was even launched. I offer suggestions and feedback (you know, the intention of the forums?) on a regular basis and I don’t consider trying to make the game a better experience is complaining.

Why announce what's in the Bday gifts?

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: TehPwnerer.7215

TehPwnerer.7215

I (and probably every single GW1 player) created all my characters on day one because I though they were going to continue that trend of gifts randomly giving miniatures that would fluctuate in the market. I use my main character most of the time (only another character is lvl 80, I have to play them a bit more), but I though it would be good to receive my 5 presents the same day.

Of course free stuff is ok but… with this system the old and fun GW1 concept is gone and it feels bad. 5 Queen Jennahs aren’t better than 1 (specially for my 4 non-human alternate characters), not to mention the already mentioned cases with so many alternate characters.

Will we be able to throw them to the Mystic Forge at least to get an Exotic Mini?

She probably will be an exotic mini. If not, then LOL WTH? I made my guys at 3am when the head start servers launched. At the time I was working at a place that had my working at 3am and sometimes 5am shifts. That day was a 5am shift. I didn’t even sleep the night before because I wanted to make sure that as soon as I could, I got in to make my characters.

I did this because in GW1 all of the characters at each birthday got a random mini from the birthday gifts. It was exciting, it was something I’ve been looking forward to since GW2 launched – and I made my characters with that idea in mind. To see it go this route though is very disappointing to say the least.

My guess is that she will be exotic and not be mystic forge-able.

Then I guess I’m the first.

“It’s been a whole year, let’s see what I got! Oh… another Destroyer mini. Where’s my Gwen?”

>>wait for a full year for a chance at something I might not have

Sure there’s the anticipation that you might get something really good… then there’s the horrible disappointment from getting the same trash you got last year.

I think the one thing I agree with was that the older you got (the more years you’ve been playing Guild Wars), the better your potential present was. If each birthday in GW2 meant every 1-year character got Jenna, every 2-year character got… let’s say Marjory… I’d be perfectly okay with that.

And what do you do with so many Jennahs? I mean in GW1, I had I think 8 character slots, all filled and I only got the same mini on two different characters once. Well not very lucky but all the other ones were different. I wasn’t even very lucky when it came to the tier, in 6 years, with 8 characters I only got a gold one once. It was mini Rurik, I’m no fan of that guy, but I was still happy. Why? Because every mini was something special.
Now we know exactly, that everyone will have Jennah. You will have 2 days with nothing but Jennahs on the street and then they will vanish forever into the storage. Yupidoo…

Yep that’s my point. Too many people keep missing the point here.

Second present same person, oh, same book. Ok thanks.
3rd present same person. Same book. Ummmm
4th present, suspicious book like shape, ummmm. Thanks?
5th present, 6th present, 7th present, 8th present………
Well gosh. Thank you.

If the title of the book is “Hygiene for Dummies”, they might want to tell you something. Just kidding! :P

At topic: half of the fun of getting a present is not knowing what it is. Now we know it’s Jennah (that annoying hack). And we’ll all get the same thing. Where is the fun in that?

And lordkrall, for the record, I never met a single GW1 player who disliked the present system we had. Not a single one. Not sure where you’ve got that from that people disliked the system.

This is what I was getting at. Seems some people just lack proper reading comprehension skills. I’m not complaining that we’re getting gifts. I’m complaining that we already know what’s in them and that it’s a complete let-down compared to years previous in GW1.

Except people liked the surprise of GW1 presents. It wasn’t RNG in the same way people talk about the RNG cash shop boxes or RNG boxes being the only way to obtain weapon skins for events.

This is a birthday present for turning 1 year old in-game. It should be a surprise. And no, that doesn’t make it an “RNG Box”.

Actually there were quite a few people that really didn’t like the RNG in the GW1 boxes.
Most people got useless white minis that sold for about 1 platinum at most while the lucky ones got awesome one that sold for 100 ectos or something like that.
Not really a good system.

So you’d rather get the same mini on each character? That’s assuming they even give you a mini for each character. They may just say “Ok you created your account on this day? Here’s this years mini. Enjoy the one you get.”

At least in GW1 if I had 12 characters I’d be getting 12 potentially different minis – not one single mini on each character.

We get it, ArenaNet loves the humans in GW2 but enough is enough already.

I found it ironic that the Living Story events that took place in Lion’s Arch, the racial diversity capital of Tyria, focused on Kasmeer, Marjory, Kiel and Mai – all human females.

There is a huge bias towards humans in GW2. Most players play them, most armour is designed for them (sucks to be a charr) and the story is now revolving around them. Hopefully soon we will see less of a focus on the humans and more integration of the other races. We still don’t have a sylvari or asuran protagonist in the Living Story.

To the one who said “anet can’t win with US people”, this post is for you.. It’s not that it’s one instance, it’s that in almost every living story update, the central focus has been a human female.

Funny, for about four months the two major characters focused on were a male norn and a female charr.

With the cut throat politics it was a male charr (who my opinion was more interesting) and a human female.

And between those two, we had a male Sylvari villain as the focus of the plot.

Once again, Anet can’t win with you people. You can be sure this same topic will appear when we eventually get a major focus on Sylvari for example and they’ll probably bring up Trahearne.

Yep. Completely ignore every point I’ve made and just throw in something I’ve already addressed and why it’s not the same as what we have now.

Those threats that revolved around the Molten Alliance had nothing to do with the Norn or Charr except for that those are the first of the major races to have been attacked by the new alliance.

The Flame and Frost was not a living story about Norn or Charr and if you think that then there’s not much else I can say because you clearly weren’t paying attention.

So the focus on saving Charr and Norn refugees and making sure they are not pushed further out of their own lands is not a focus on their race?

You have some rather strange…….opinions…..then.

Ok saving Charr and Norn and Grawl and other race refugees was not a focus on those races. It was a focus on a threat to Tyria and if they weren’t stopped it would be more than just the Charr and Norn that were being displaced, it would have eventually spread to Humans Asura and Sylvari as well.

You have some rather…. strange…. story comprehension……

Exactly, it would have been, but the focus was on the Charr and the Norn stopping it before it became that. And as Shiren pointed out above, Flame and Frost is also victim to being the first real living story. That doesn’t change the fact that it was focused on the Norn and Charr.

It makes sense that dredge and flame legion would focus on hitting the races of those regions first. Flame legion are predominantly Ascalon – so they hit the Charr first.

Dredge are (pretty much only) found in the Shiverpeaks – so naturally Norns being the closest to them were hit first.

It wasn’t focused on Charr or Norn as a storyline though – and the storyline itself was more or less an experiment anyway. But the point of the story was not “Well, better go save the Charr and the Norns” it was “Well we better stop the molten alliance before they start doing damage to more than just the people they’ve already done damage to.”

They had to put something on the release page. With so much of the next release supposedly under wraps, the page would be almost barren without the birthday present details.

So take out the surprise and cause player rage on the forums day 1 of the announcement just because they want to keep some things a secret? Apparently 1 year birthdays aren’t important enough. Funny they seemed important in GW1.

Comparing GW1 to this is not going to end well. GW1 was a game that did so much right. I think many of us that are going to get these presents on the first day feel that way. Sadly I also think many of us are disappointed with the way GW2 has gone.

I remember logging into my characters and opening the presents. It was always so much fun. I don’t mind that they are all going to be the same, though I wish it was like a mini Zhaitan or something. Remember how great the mini Kuunavang looked, I was hoping for something like that. Something really epic to celebrate. Maybe we will be able to put her into the mystic forge to make something memorable.

Maybe it’s just me but I wouldn’t mind at all if they just dropped the whole living story for this cycle and said “hey we are turning 1, so let’s party” then just threw a freaking huge celebration event. The events from GW1 didn’t need a living story to be awesome, they were awesome because the players took what Anet made and went with it. I guess it’s just seeing the past differently, others may have experienced it differently. I just know that the feeling I got from celebrations in GW1 make this current setup feel really weak.

Except we probably won’t even get a gift. It’ll be mail from ArenaNet thanking us for turning a year old and have the crap in the mail. How exciting. And yeah I realize that GW1 set a high bar, but you know what? If they didn’t want the comparison between GW1 and GW2 they shouldn’t have called this GW2 they should have called it Steampunk Air Pirates and Mechanical Guard Robots Wars 2.

Flame and Frost put us through four months of Charr and Norn issues, and you’re complaining about one month of human focus?

Refer to my previous post.

They are opening a trade agreement with the Canthan’s/Elonian’s and by next year we will be allowed to travel there.

This would make everything worth it for me.

I mean, she’s probably the most important political leader of any race in Tyria (though the Pale Tree does play a bigger role wrt Zhaitan), and the truce with the Charr (in which she is a key player) is probably the most important non-Dragon storyline in Tyria.

I’m not saying this is necessarily the direction they should have gone with the Living Story or anything, reasonable minds can disagree. But if you think she’s only an important character to humans then you’re overlooking a lot.

I realize that, but for this post I am speaking of only living story. It just doesn’t seem right that everyone should have to endure a full month of human centric stuff. And if this living story doesn’t wrap up any of the Charr / Centaur / Human alliances, then it’d be a huge waste of time.

Royal Terrace and other cities...

1) The Royal Terrace will only exist for the Queen’s Jubilee
2) The purpose of the Queens Terrace is to allow people participating in the Jubilee to have quick access to everything they need for all the loot they get during the games.
3) The Royal Terrace is an idiotic addition since it’s in the wrong zone. If it were actually in pit where it matters it would be alright, but it’s in DR, meaning you have to cross a zone line in order to get to it anyway and can’t Waypoint for free. It’s also in a zone that already has access to all those same things, minus the well and portals, in quick free waypoint distance. And the well and portals are only a single extra trip away.

Therefore it serves no legitimate purpose what so ever and is a waste of time and money. We don’t need more of them in the other cities that provide all of the exact same benefits as DR itself.

Where did you see that the Royal Terrace is limited? Because as far as I can see, the entrance tickets can still be purchased for a two week access and it has no “leaving soon” notice on the item in the gem store.

Even if that wasn’t the case, why not address anything else I said about how each city should have this already for their races and such? Yes, once Queen’s Jubilee ends, everyone will flock back to LA all the time because there’s no reason to be in DR once this event is over.

And that is my point.

Quite frankly I would have been happier just having humans be playable, so this is fine with me.

If that was the case like it was in GW1 I’d have no problem with this.

They can’t make a content that involves all 5 races at the same time every 2 weeks.

Ok that’s my point. They can’t, and shouldn’t. So why is that all I see in every zone? Balloons that take me to the human city. An event about the Queen and her new fancy Arena, and now the new event I get to hear that Queen make a speech.

Neat-o.

Those stories weren’t ABOUT the Norn or the Charr though it was about the flame legion and the dredge forming an alliance that was a threat to Tyria and just started in those areas.

This event, and the next one, appear to be about nothing more than a Queen of the humans celebrating her reign. Why should I care? Why is this being forced on everyone? Once again, if I wanted to care about this kind of stuff I would play a human and do their personal story.

Royal Terrace and other cities...

So with the introduction of the Royal Terrace in DR this latest patch, I got to thinking about why it was something you had to pay for, and why it was just in DR?

This should already be something every city has – and should be there for free. Anet should encourage people to use their races cities – not ensure they all just hang around Lion’s Arch all day.

This was a big problem with GW1 as well. Every main city of the game was dead except for Lion’s Arch (in Tyria, anyway). They should want Charr to hang out in the Black Citadel – Asura to hang out in Rata sum, etc.

Like make the “mini LA” areas in each city only available to that specific race. That’d keep it “exclusive” while still being open to everybody of that race so that they have somewhere else to be other than Lion’s Arch.

Thoughts?
