There is no good side. Kiel only won because most players saw her as a pretty face.
This. Reduced waypoint costs? Let me know how it feels to save 10s over the next 4 weeks.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Well part of the reason it was an unfair vote is because obviously people will feel more inclined to vote for someone they’ve played alongside them for months and months already. Kiel has been with us since Southsun and Gnashblade has just been “that guy in the trading post”.
It was set up for Ellen to win from the start. I’m not sure why they didn’t have the HUMAN research the fractal about the HUMAN GODS…. but hey, what do I know…
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
People here at the studio where as passionate about this as you folks, so we had both Kiel and Gnashblade supporters. I for example play a charr, so I was obviously on #TeamGnashblade.
Don’t you think it was a bit unfair though? You guys essentially designed Gnashblade to lose. Shady, stairwell Charr who “supports RNG” vs the “cute, innocent, female war hero leader” (after all she takes credit for our work).
Seems that even people who didn’t know about the bonuses would vote for Kiel. Reduced WP costs or reduced RNG box costs? Yeah Ellen’s victory is a complete shock to me. =|
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I started off really kitten ed off when Kiel won, the Livestream showed great new content that’d be temporary, and how we’re never going to see the Fall of Abaddon (and likely not much more in the way of GW1 lore in the future releases of GW2).
Then I started to think. They are doing a release 2 weeks from now as the GW2 1 year anniversary and apparently have a lot in store for us. I am extremely kitten ed off that Ellen won and we won’t be seeing the Abaddon Fractal, but as many pointed out maybe that’s a good thing.
I think all of our expectations may have been more than what the fractal would have been. I’d love if Anet at least released plans or ideas they had for the fractal so we can at least stop guessing as to what it would have been, but either way live goes on.
I am interested in seeing what sort of permanent stuff we’ll be getting in the next couple of months and where they decide to take the game. Colin cleared up a lot of my fears and worries in the post he made here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/jubilee/So-EVERYTHING-in-this-patch-is-temporary/first#post2560578
and it appears that a lot of what we all loved that is “temporary” now, will be returning every now and then. But the way others have put it, take a look at this being one of the last big temporary releases that will recur every year or so. And now that they’ve established the annual(not confirmed) return of these events we can start seeing some new permanent changes.
I’m excited to see where this goes – regardless of missing out on Abaddon’s fractal. What do you guys think? Excited for the new patches? Hopeful things will change for the better in 2 weeks?
My question is, since the announcement of more “permanent” changes are coming to Gw2 in the coming months, are we still going to see them in the same 2 week cycle? Or are we going to continue to get 2 week updates but also larger ones that take longer?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
“It’s a way to show how kitten you are and how skilled you are! It’s a great way to show off! It’s incredibly fun and exciting! …..Oh and by the way it’s temporary…..”
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
They make the game. I don’t see why they can’t just make the abbadon fractal at a later time after the thaumanova one.
Because they already confirmed they will not make both.
Especially to a vote between “human female with reduced prices on waypoints” vs “male charr with reduced price on stupid RNG keys nobody cares about”
Exactly I have no idea why this even got the green light.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
“I really wanted to make the Abaddon fractal..” So why would you guys tie such an amazing idea for a dungeon to something so stupid as player votes? Will we ever see or hear about what this fractal would have been like?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
From what I saw it was people spamming tickets into a basket. How is that a pirate election?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Well, time to sell my holdings in Lion’s Arch. Ellen Kiel’s grotesque incompetence was manageable in her limited position as head of the Lionguard, but now that she has been given enough authority to be dangerous it is time for me to expatriate to a safer location. On the upside, I do look forward to being well compensated for my efforts in saving Lion’s Arch from whatever disaster will surely befall it in the impending future as a result of her untimely ascension.
Agreed. Funny how so many liked her. She’s more incompetent than the plant that took credit for our personal stories.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Apparently there was a livestream set for noon PDT today. Apparently the announcement was plastered all over GW2 Facebook and Twitter. Can the people who don’t give in to social media sites start getting some news maybe on these forums? You know, the official game forums? Or maybe even on the launcher?
That’d be great. Thanks.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You’re fighting for the wrong cause here, original poster. Fractals are supposed to be quick (~10 minute) adventures that aren’t even consider lore canon. Do you really want to try and shove your dream for an Abaddon story into that?
You’re better off asking for a Bonus Mission Pack that covers the events surrounding Abaddon’s fall, (like the excellent bonus mission pack we had in the original Guild Wars). That would be much more appropriate for the epic saga you’re likely envisioning. A 10 minute fractal would never be able to tell that story well.
If you made a thread about that and linked us to it, I would support you in that thread.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Guess we have to watch the Twitch stream today to see who actually won. (which will obviously be Evon, due to reasons above, Anet rigging it to begin with)
There’s a livestream today?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I’m kinda glad evon lost. Theoratically this frac would be the best we ever wanted. But in the reality, arenanet, gw2 lorewise, can never EVER compete with gw1. And wathever they do, do personalize the Gods/story, they will not be up to the level people expect. It would have been a disapointment, with lot of QQ like ‘is this the hyped abbadon frac, omg so weak’. now this doesn’t have to pass. I have faith in Arenanet, but after the Zhaitan fail (it just doesn’t compared to any gw1 story, although i must admit it ain’t bad), i don’t believe, they can create the most important fracs ever to the highest quality standards ever. They would have disappointed us. Perhaps that’s why they put Kielen as the good one, cause they knew it would be a hard job.
That’s very possible actually. Who knows, maybe it’s better that they ruin an Asura fractal rather than a GW1 epic one.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I was happy to see Evon… Then the email came and I went sulking into a corner.
Yep same. Was so excited when I saw this. Then literally 2 seconds later I get mail saying Ellen won.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
It won’t be. That would make the entire election pointless. As much as I’m kitten ed off Gnashblade didn’t win, especially after seeing the Heralds say he did, we’ll have to just live with the fact we’ll never see it.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You know, I think the developers at Anet are going to have to work extra hard and come up with something epic to satisfy the people who wanted something epic. I just hope they succeed at that task.
I don’t care that stupid Asura were wrong once again and realized they weren’t as smart as they said they are. The “Oh crap we blew something up again! curb your enthusiasm theme song plays” story line is already super played out.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
They didn’t even care about fractals they saw “HUMAN FEMALE! BOOBS!” and voted that way. Not to mention the first cinematic that we actually have interaction with Gnashblade he’s in a stairwell scheming while the “noble war leader Ellen” is trying to come up with a noble plan.
Was rigged from the start to have this chump win. Trahearne 2.0 – useless and incompetent but hey, people voted because she’s a human female. Great stuff.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I already posted it in another thread but yeah.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Make another thread about it. Enjoy your 10c reduced waypoints for 4 weeks and a crappy fractal.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Classic anet trolling.
I hope someone has a screenshot of the heralds saying Evon won.
I do.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I dumped around 200g into votes last minute with the 2x support banner. Not much, but I also know of at least 10 others who did the same.
So did you really mean to say 200g?
Yes. 200g.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
…………..Just got mail that Ellen won.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I dumped around 200g into votes last minute with the 2x support banner. Not much, but I also know of at least 10 others who did the same.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Dammit :/ I don’t give a crap about gw1 lore, I want more gw2 lore :/
The Asura aren’t as smart as they think they are and blew something up now there’s animals being teleported to Metrica Province. There I saved you a fractal run. You’re welcome.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Woot. Yeah saw it in game as well!
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Not everything is temporary. Didn’t you hear? There’s a new trophy that’s permanent. All that 3 copper merch food adds up man.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Now you are assuming things to, I never said who I voted for(though yea I supported Kiel) and I don’t feel the need to as many others have already said my views which you have chosen to blatantly ignore because of your ignorance and anger of losing
Well yeah you didn’t need to say anything I knew you voted for Kiel based on your reply. Blatantly ignore? I can’t ignore something that isn’t said. So if you’re not going to explain why then I can’t really do anything about that.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Pwner your views are so dilluded and one sided that no amount of logic or persuasion could change your thoughts(not saying we should) bc you want gnash blade? Cool good for you! But stop being such a kitten sore loser bc your guy lost and you calling everyone who voted for Kiel an idiot, uneducated, or stupid is completely ignorant
So again you have no reason for why she would be better or why you voted for her. Great thanks for proving my point.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You are very ignorant for many reasons OP…first as has been stated a billion times thermuva wasn’t just a “whoops bad Asura lab experiment that blew up” it caused a rip in space and time that’s kind of important…not going into more details since it takes too long to explain…the big thing though is who the hell are you to tell people to stop RPing? I personally don’t do It much myself but many people love doing it and they are basing their vote off who their character would like and trust
Stop being a sore loser and a kitten about it and grow up a little and accept you may not get what you want
Grow up? You know nothing about me I assure you I accept that I won’t, and don’t get anything or everything I want. I’m not an entitled child so maybe take it down a notch since you know nothing about me.
On topic, I’m not mad that Gnashblade lost I’m mad that people only voted for Kiel because “OMG SHES HAWT” or “She’s a noble military leader and Evon is a greedy criminal!” Really? I’ve yet to see anyone sensibly say why they voted for Kiel. When I do, I’ll accept it for that individual but until then, everyone I’ve seen in this and other threads and in game have all voted for Kiel because “too many people like Evon so I’m voting for her” or “I’m voting for the hot human female” or “blah blah blah RP blah blah blah”.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You’re more interested in this than in the fall of a god?
You would really rather run through another asuran dungeon, than watch THE FALL OF A GOD?I’m not very interested in gods in any videogame. To me, labelling any character in a videogame a god is mainly an excuse to overpower them. To either put them out of the players’ reach (an NPC god is beyond questioning, you can never argue with them, they are A GOD) or to make their fall feel more epic (in case of an antagonist).
But the whole suspension of disbelief by making things BIGGER and STRONGER only works so many times. And it does not make up for bad writing. My impression is always the same: “How do we make this… BIGGER? I know. We’ll make it THE BIGGEST. We’ll make it A GOD.”
I prefer a well-written story that allows me to feel involed, to a story about an overpowered being that makes me feel detached, any day.
(See also Doctor Who series finales, which since 2005 have become more and more “epic” each year, but have had less of an emitional impact on me because they felt less and less personal.)
TL;DR: I find gods themselves very, very boring in literature, movies and games.
I can see why people are voting for Kiel….cause they’re morons….
And just like that, you’ve discredited yourself.
The Gods aren’t overpowered, out of reach NPCs in a game. In GW1 they each had their own realm of the mists that we were able to visit. These were the elite dungeons in GW1. They contributed a TON to the GW1 lore.
In GW2 the Gods have already abandoned Tyria. I’d like to know why they did that and what could possibly bring them back rather than see stupid little snobby Asura blow something up again.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I would prefer to have a fractal based on actual Guild Wars 2 lore, the Thurmanova reactor. I love game lore, and if I wanted to have more lore based on the human gods, I would go play Guild Wars 1, which last I checked, was stuffed full of human gods lore.
We know so little about the Thurmanova reactor. Its a mystery awaiting to be solved!
Let me tell you what happened. Again:
Asura (inquest) thought they were super smart – way smarter than they actually are. They blew stuff up, and now animals are being teleported there. Wow that is so interesting and engaging. Much better story than human Gods fighting each other and casting one out of Godhood.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
And all of the people RPing is pretty lame too. “Oh Gnashblade is corrupt.” What?? I’m sure nobody gives a crap who actually takes the seat in the LA council because let’s face it – we have no reason to care.
You all voted for Trahearne 2.0 – another incompetent fool who does nothing for months and then takes credit for the work we did. This thing was rigged from the start. Ellen and the Norn are talking and Ellen seems all noble while Gnashblade hides in the stairwell overhearing the conversation and scheming. Yeah that’s a fair way to have votes take place.
Not to mention Ellen has been with us for months now via living story and so people who actually like her would vote for her over some random NPC who just shows up out of the blue and is apparently playing “the bad guy.”
Either way all the replies in here where people voted out of spite, voted because Ellen is a human female, or voted because they want to see Asura blow something up again, are the reason why Anet should have never put the voting in player’s hands.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
OP and his posts is the reason I vote for Kiel.
So once again a typical casual has no reason but to screw over others. Maybe they should have done IQ tests before they allowed people to vote for either of the candidates. Can you imagine if real elections in the states took place like this where anybody can just make an uneducated vote just for giggles? Oh wait…
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I highly suggest anyone interested in the better of the two fractals get to voting. It closes is under 10 hours apparently.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Ellen Kiel is the people’s princess.
Yep., Typical casual response from people who vote because she’s a human female and not because of facts.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
Just over 10 hours remain in the voting guys. Anet shuts it off at 11am PDT on Aug 5th – today. Please push Evon over that 48% before it’s too late.
Remember reduced waypoint costs last for 4 weeks.. And we don’t even know how much they will be reduced. Abaddon and Thumanova are permanent so please vote based on fractals, not cheap temporary bonuses that won’t matter anyway.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
This will not end well.
I don’t know how this political storyline was even green-lighted to be implemented, let alone who decided on the ‘campaign promises’ that were the worst they could have possibly selected as well as assigned to which candidate. This single event has highlighted several of the most heated subjects amongst passionate players as the prime aspects of this release…and not in a good way.
- It has turned a massive spotlight onto the argument against the persistent implementation of RNG boxes. One argument is that a vote for Evon is a vote for continued and increased RNG box implementation, as it is seen as an opportunity for players to voice their acceptance and approval for its continued use with the Black Lion Key discount.
- They’ve pitted a human against a charr, and worse, a human female against a charr male. This has put the passionate role-players into a frenzy. Apart from the dynamics of politics in lore for humans and charr generally not meshing well, they’ve now given a prime opening for speciesism to introduce itself. Due to Ashford’s assassination, the Captain’s Council now consists of 3 humans, 2 asura, 1 norn, and 1 charr (no Sylvari at all?). Some players feel that this election is a good opportunity to take a step toward further balancing the representations of the species of Tyria on the Council by filling Ashford’s position with a charr instead of yet another human. A vote for Kiel is seen as a vote against charr and of increasing human domination of the Council. It is also an opening for the all too real gender discrimination issue, especially in relation to a role of power, to rear its ugly face in the game world.
- Hot on the tail (no charr pun intended) of those elements is the overwhelming hatred for Trahearne and the aspect of NPC story characters taking all of the credit for our actions. Just as he is seen by the majority of players as doing nothing but stealing the glory that was meant for us, the players, that view has now been tacked directly onto Kiel. The painting of Kiel as being Trahearne 2.0 (or Kormir 3.0 to some), that despite her actions (or lack of actions) during these events, as well as after, her receiving all of the credit and glory just as Trahearne did during our Personal Story has placed her in a very poor light in many players’ minds. This brings to the forefront a lot of the sour feelings players have regarding the Personal Story and of feeling cheated. So, one argument is that a vote for Kiel is the approval from players of ArenaNet continuing to have characters that reap all of the credit and glory from our actions.
- It has pitted the telling of the “New” (Thaumanova Reactor) against the telling of the “Old” (Fall of Abaddon). They’ve essentially made it a debate of GW1 Lore Vs. GW2 Lore and which is more important, especially since there seems to be many players with strong emotions tied to GW1 who believe GW2 has changed and strayed too far from GW1. So they have also made it a fight between those who enjoy GW2 for what it is and will become, and those who wish GW2 was just GW1 with better graphics. Thus making it into a vote for Evon as being a vote for “Established Lore/GW1”, and a vote for Kiel as being a vote for “New Ideas/GW2”.
Pro-RNG VS Anti-RNG
Charr VS Human
Male VS Female
Evon VS Kiel/Trahearne 2.0
Abaddon VS Reactor
GW1 VS GW2All of this will end very, very badly for many players and for ArenaNet. Many players have such strong feelings toward some of these issues that there may be a portion of the playerbase that are so dissatisfied with the outcome of this election, regardless of who wins, that they actually quit playing due to how it might sour the game and it won’t be fun for them anymore.
Even still, there are the “Temporary Content VS Permanent Content” aspects of this event and many others I’ve not touched onto here, as well as the “Bugs Fixed VS Bugs Created” aspect of more frequent Living Story updates.
I just cannot believe that someone at ArenaNet thought any of this would be a good idea for events, let alone all of them at the same time in the same event. This reeks of being a horrible idea in all possible ways. Unless you want to risk losing your job, your customers, your friends, or a few teeth, it is just accepted that you do not involve two subjects for discussion: Religion and Politics.
Not to put down the seriousness of all the aspects I’ve mention, as they are all of a pretty serious nature for the future of the game, but anyone want some popcorn?
Most sensible post I’ve seen on this. Too bad so many people just RP and vote for the “nice pretty lady” over the “mean, greedy charr bad guy”…..
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Very disheartening to see Kiel in the lead. People want to vote for “the nice, pretty human lady” and are voting for the wrong reasons. Cheaper waypoints for a few weeks are just as useless as cheaper keys nobody will buy for 4 weeks.
You need to start looking at it from the fractal standpoint. Want to vote for Kiel to see the Thumanova Reactor fractal? Why? I’ll save you the trouble: The Asura thought they were super smart, they tried to do something, and something blew up. Ok cool we got that out of the way?
Great, now please go vote for Evon so that we actually have a good permanent bonus from the victor. I don’t expect people who didn’t play GW1 to understand the important or sheer awesome that is the Fall of Abaddon. This is GODS FIGHTING EACH OTHER and not "We’re asura, we screwed up again asura shrugs as the curb your enthusiasm theme song starts playing
I just encourage people voting for Kiel to really take a look at the pros and cons of both and make the right choice. Stop RPing and saying that Evon is greedy and Ellen is noble or whatever. Ellen is stupid and has done nothing good since she was introduced in the game. She screws up more than Asuras do.
Really not sure why people WANT to vote for Kiel. Everyone I’ve seen voting for her has only done so because they see so many people saying how awesome Evon is.
So in short, enjoy your 10-20s you will save on WP travel over the course of the next 4 weeks after Tuesday. Hope it was worth it to get probably the lamest fractal idea ever conceived. You could have changed this.
And when you realize just how boring the fractal is and then look into what you missed out on, I will be standing here shaking my head at you for making the choices you made.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
I do believe Colin or someone said the unique rewards from champs would be daily like dragon event loot, they want people to starting hunting and “explore”-ing again, also do you really believe they would make it as easy as farming Queen troll all day, just saying it would be better to start thinking about where you can find champions everywhere.
With the way some things have been going I would not be surprised. That’s why I asked. I’m ok with this. Once a day loot bag per unique champion? I’m 100% ok with that.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
It makes it even worse than them being reskinned. They have better affects than the HoM one which has laughable effects at best. And they’ve pretty much flat out confirmed they aren’t updating existing HoM skins. So cool, great, awesome. The new skins have great particle affects while the “OG” one has no visual affect that compares to the concept art and it looks plain as all hell. Not happy.
.did they state WHY they would never update the existing HoM skins? so i’ve just learnt that they ahve a lot of clipping issues as well. i don’t see any reason why even that can’t be fixed. though we’re going into different territory now.
okay, so you mentioned the new skins seemingly have great particle effects. there may be some people who enjoy more “plain” items however, so on that note, to each their own. though i also know that the OG Fellblade’s effects were much greater than what we see currently in gw2. and i guess we can all say, we know how far ANet can go with particle effets.
: (((
I just assumed that the GW2 version of the Gw1 Fellblade would look better – not worse. That’s like a game being shown at E3 in beta form and being released as a worse looking game.
Weapons have no clipping issues like the armors do so I doubt we’ll see them redesigned to look as good (effect-wise) as the new ones.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Nobody has any information on this?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
It’s not a just a similar outline, it’s literally the same skin but with added pink runes and shadow effects.
Yep.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I’m going to take advantage of this new strife to request the original gw1 animation on the HoM fellblades to help equal it out a bit (and mainly because that would be awesome).
You and me both. All I want is the original GW1 effect on the HoM version. Then I’ll be happy and couldn’t care less about who gets a pink reskin.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Overall this update is incredible. Account wallet, permanent finishers, the list can go on about what I’m excited for in this update. What I am not excited for, however, is the seeming introduction of Hall of Monument weapons into the game as drops.
People worked hard for Hall of Monuments updates and now you’re releasing 1-handed Fellblades that have cooler effects than the actual HoM one? That just doesn’t seem right to me. And considering that’s all we’ve seen, who knows what other previously HoM skins will be released in the future?
Why even do HoM at all if you can just get better versions of the reward items in GW2? I hope I’m just missing something here, because I’m really disappointed in this particular aspect of the update. Don’t get me wrong those new Fellblades look awesome (I’m sure they won’t be called that… Or maybe they will who knows), but that’s the problem. They completely diminish even earning the 23 point HoM reward.
What are your guys’ thoughts on this?
I’ll go with the others saying that better is a relative term… but also that the HoM skins were, in general, not that great. The gnarled staff? The living shortbow? The heritage armor? (Granted, heritage armor did make you look better for awhile while you were leveling). Heck, some people even attach a sort of “noob” stigma when they see people carrying that gear.
Not to mention you’re tacitly supporting an elitist mentality of “forget you, got mine”, where people shouldn’t be allowed to enjoy certain things because they may not have had the fortune to play GW1 before, or may not have the same qualifications as you. They can’t enjoy the same fun as you because you’ve placed an arbitrary value on the time you spent playing a game. As if it’s the same as work hours at a job or something.
That’s not the mentality at all. The only reason I feel like HoM rewards should be locked to Just HoM is because that was the intended purpose.. And honestly the thing that kitten es me off the most is how these new ones are getting obviously better effects than the HoM one which looked dull even on day 1.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
i think i can see both sides of the story. for those of you “making a stand” against the seemingly identical reskin apart from enhanced effects, is it because you feel your efforts in gw2 and HOM points are wasted? if you have the OG Fellblade in gw2, NO ONE, i repeat, NO ONE can take that away from you. and if i want it, i’m going to have to go buy and play gw1, which probably won’t happen. <— not a complaint, i love that dedicated gw1 get special rewards! (esp the many titles you guys have as well)
i personally don’t feel that these “reskins” with purple glowy bits thrown on top in any way diminishes the Fellblade. i love that it’s seemingly so simple, yet so captivating. i’ve yet to see one in-game, and i would love to. but perhaps, that’s just me.
Not happy.
Just add me to the minority pile of folks who aren’t happy about new dual wielding of a sword I worked for and now also has fancy runes attached to it. I love my Fellblade and now it feels like it’s a lesser version of a new sword that is missing fancy runes and can’t be dual wielded. No worries if folks think otherwise and have their opinions. I’m just disappointed in the blatant reskin. I’m pretty sure no one will argue that the new swords are fancier, whether they like the pink runes or not. Whether they’re “better” or not.
Why not see new legendary greatswords folks worked for that could be redone into dual wielded swords, plus some new fancy effect of some kind. Does that devalue the work done before? It’s arguable as seen in this topic. Will many folks who worked hard for their legendary greatswords be unhappy and feel their work devalued or undermined? It seems undoubtedly.
So far we’ve only heard from folks who have noticed this screenshot. Later we could hear more from folks once it’s introduced.
Yeah I’m right there with ya. I’m not happy at all. Everything that I’m going to say about why I’m unhappy about it has already been said by myself, you, and others. Just really kitten es me off that we get a crappy, boring skin while the people who get the new and improved Fellblade that more resembles GW1 (It’s a 1h again), which has better visual affects and particle effects.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Farm keys via the lvl 10 quest if you really want/need them. 1 run can take 30-40 mins solo and a lot quicker if doing with friends. Find a guide or look on youtube they are out there.
what quest?
I don’t mind farming for the keys.
the personal story, level 10 chapter gives you a guaranteed key. People farm this. create new character, do story, level, do more story, level, do level 10 story, get key, deposit, delete character, start over. I hear one of the human story lines is the quickest/easiest. takes about 20-40 minutes depending on how many people are helping you.
Tip: You DON’T have to level up at all. You can rush straight from the very first quest and complete all quests up to and including the lvl 10 one from the very start of the game. I do so and usually finish the lvl 10 quest at about lvl 4 or 5 from all the level ups from the quest rewards.
Personally I found human, middle class story to be good for this, I found this very early on, then read on forums and saw on youtube that everyone else prefers this path too lol.
You can pre-make gear for your character to use just don’t go any higher than masterwork (so that it remains account bound). Having the Deluxe game or whatever it’s called really helps too as you can access your gear (bank) right from the start of the game.
PS, did a few low lvl quests on one of my alts earlier today and noticed there are now NO cash rewards for quests. Anyone else notice this? We used to get some good cash for the 1-10 lvl quests and now nothing. Maybe because of all the key farmers?
Yeah let’s just tell everyone how to get free keys so that ArenaNet removes this as an option… -____-
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
And this is why you shouldn’t buy keys.

If I recall correctly, champion loot will be based on level.
For example, Queensdale champs would drop tier 1 mats. Orr champions would drop tier 6 (likely including lodestones) mats.
Also for the new weapon skins, I THINK each champion will have a unique skin drop instead of all sharing the same skin drop pool, but not entirely sure.
That’s good to hear. That’s what my guildies were speculating as well – higher leveled enemies would give better loot in the bags, level 3 or 5 ones in Queensdale would give a lot worse loot. That’s how it should be anyway, I just hope that’s the case so that people can’t get the nice new rare weapon skins by camping Queensdale all day.

Yes it’s imbalanced. sPvP is a joke. Certain classes clearly dominate the battlefield and it’s becoming a joke. Out of the over 200 lobbies available, at any given time I’d say theres 20 or so that have at least 1 person in them.
