This is just money grabbing and dishonest.
This game is going to tun into nothing more than any other Chinese mmo, every little thing will have to be bought with real cash.
Except that you can buy gems with gold, not ever having to spend a single cent of real money on the game. It’s also not dishonest. The text reads: “Do you want to unlock an additional bag slot for this character? This will cost:400gems”
Maybe read a little better next time.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
There is a search function as well as a huge topic already about this. This will likely be merged into that one, but really we’ll have to wait and see. I’m excited about the new changes.

Is this sub-forum really this dead? >_>
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Am i the only one? This thread was moved here because here is a dead sub-forum right?
This sub forum is pretty much dead unfortunately.

Imaybe it’s too hard to accomplish.
Try expensive.

So if someone took a trip to the order of whispers HQ in Bloodtide Coast, you’ll notice a familiar song playing – one that played a LOT during beta in Black Citadel and Heart of the Mists.
The song on the soundtrack is “Journey to the Mists” and can be listened to here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3uom0-kIOY
However, that same song in beta had more to it – and the “extra” parts of that song are only played, to my knowledge, in the Order of Whispers HQ in Bloodtide Coast. If I had recording software I’d record the song to show you guys to better understand what I’m talking about.
In any case, the song played in Order of Whispers HQ in Bloodtide is not anywhere on the soundtrack and I’d love to know what the song is called and why it’s not on the soundtrack.
I’d also like to know why the mists and Black Citadel soundtracks were changed and shortened to the current track on the soundtrack rather than what currently plays in the HQ. Thanks in advance. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, I’d love to track this song down and make my custom soundtrack include it.

Great statement and summary of a single title required for HoM progress. Not to mention you had fluctuating merch prices for all materials and not only did Elite Armor take 75k, it took sometimes 10-25k extra in materials. Curuglas won’t read it though. And if he does he’ll find a way to diminish the value of 1 part of getting 50/50 (which isn’t just 50 “achievements” by the way – Curuglas).

They’ll probably just remove it(the mf from celestial gear), or replace it with something else, etc
Unless…
Celestial was one of the things they were talking about when they said 1-2 item “types”, that’s just a wild guess though, probably not.
Where did you see that?

“And one more big change? The Magic Find system, where players currently have to choose or switch between gear with stats or gear with magic find, will be getting overhauled completely. Only one or two item types will keep the MF stat, while the rest of it will go an account wide stat that you can sort of “level up” over time with achievements and rare found consumables (they’re kind of like karma jugs). They’ll put a cap on it of some sort, but you’ll be able to go well over 100% MF, just maybe not 1,000,000%. The food temporary buffs will still be in the game too, which will add even more MF to your dungeon runs. Overall the goal of this new system is to take away the need to choose between more power or more loot. "
Well that’s MMORPG. I read the official blog and I didn’t see this mentioned at all in the blog post.
I considered that, but apparently they talked to Colin personally about his blog post, not saying to take it as fact or anything, just thought it was worth a look.
Sounds good. I expect that if that is true, Celestial would certainly be included in that list of exceptions to MF being removed from gear. Not sure what the other exception would be – maybe ascended items already containing magic find stats? It’d be a shame for some of the flavor items that already have magic find (with GW1 references for example as their names) to be removed just because magic find is being re-worked to an account stat.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
i see people wet before the rains start…
They always do. That’s all these forums are is people raging about things that haven’t even gotten into the game yet. Really a shame because the forums could be such a powerful tool to express interest and feedback.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I’d love to see that little easter egg in fireheart rise turn into something more than just an easter egg.

I give up. You have no interest in anything but your opinion and refuse to even try to understand as you admit yourself you have never even looked at the titles. Players like you will never be happy, and your too stubborn and pig headed to see anything but what you want to see. You will never be happy no matter what is done, so there is no sense in even trying to explain as you are incapable of even the most basic understanding. I am not eve going to bother opening this topic again as it is senseless, the points are distributed, it’s over, it’s done, get used to it.
Agreed. I’ve been saying that for about 10 pages now. He has no interest in reading anything but his own words and typing out his own opinions to things people say rather than looking at facts or logic. Done posting in this thread. Anet knows better than to listen to people like this – especially when their posts contain “IF YOU DONT DO _ I’LL QUIT YOUR GAME.”
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Well that’s MMORPG. I read the official blog and I didn’t see this mentioned at all in the blog post.
So MMORPG simply made up answers made by Colin then?
There are usually some deeper information in the articles surrounding a blog/preview than the actual blog/preview
I guess if it’s sourced then fine.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I’m amazed at how many people just blindly trust Arenanet to simply shift MF values from one source to another. Really? You honestly believe they aren’t going to churn out some kitten replacement that will only be at most 50% effective over the original system?
Oh, and they said that MF is going to be moved to consumables?
What was it the MF haters were demanding? Oh yeah, an “inspect” feature.
Now they get their cake and can eat it too. MF is being removed from gear, and if you dare to use a MF boost, it will show up in your buffs, resulting in a party kick.
I can see it now “LFG CoFp1 Warriors/mesmers only, No MF boosts”
Well you know you can use magic find boosters with other boosters. I don’t pug but I also don’t foresee pugs kicking people just because in their list of boosts and buffs they have a magic find one.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005

Only use statements made by anet, showing when/what/how they contradicted themselves.
It’s not contradiction rather than omission, like, they did not tell the non-GW1 players that GW1 players will have an advantage to their scores.
“An advantage to their scores”… Please tell me what having a high achievement point score does for you that provides an advantage.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Curuglas, I see you have not posted on my link. Of course with good reason.
If you feel the achievement points in WvW are not in par with the rest of the achievement in GW2 then why are you trying to use the broken system to validate an argument. kinda like a bucket with holes in, and your arguing "well it “can” hold water. as long as you keep putting water in it.
Do you not see you this makes you looks. One would think by some of your post you have some self esteem.
I think your an intelligent person, I just don’t think you have any common sense.
Myself and other have already said at least 20 times that he doesn’t listen to logic. He won’t respond to it either. He’ll try to make what you say seem like something else by twisting it in his favor. He doesn’t listen. He doesn’t comprehend.
He’s already said he’s quitting the game yet I see him online in-game every day almost all day. Funny how that works. “DO THIS OR I QUIT! RABBLE RABBLE!!11” ….does nothing.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
ArenaNet confirmed that they are not working on GW2 for any next gen console. Watch the latest dev livestream and Colin himself confirms that they are NOT doing this.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Again, your assumptions are completely wrong.
You just don’t seem to understand, do you?
Yakslapper: 1 000 000 dolyaks
Try for an hour to kill on average 1 dolyak every 2 minutes , meaning 30 dolyaks in an hour. To get the Yakslapper you’d have to go on killing dolyaks for about 33 333 hours. No time being away, all active playing.
This equals to slightly over 11 years of active playing 8 hours per day – doing nothing but killing dolyaks
Not sure how that’s relevant here. It’s an absurd requirement, that I can agree with you on, but what’s that gotta do with any of this?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I remember 1000s of people saying in GW1 if they nerf the sin (which they did) they were leaving. It got anets attention though. Cause they ended up nerfing it 3 times after that. The I am gonna leave the game if they don’t change it equates to I’m gonna hold my breath until I get my way. My 3 years still does that from time to time.
The reason everyone is laughing at the negative comments is because Anet did what they said they would do. And the GW1 “vets” have seen the…I’m gonna leave the game if……" thousands of times. And we have learned Anet’s general response is See ya, don’t let Mhenlo hit you on the butt on the way out.
Yep. Though I never threatened to quit GW1 or 2 for any reason because that’s petty and childish, but that’s essentially what Curuglas and a few others are doing. If you are going to quit, then go for it – Anet doesn’t care and neither do we.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You can tell they thought it out since the first chest is 500 AP and the amount you get for 50/50 is…. drum roll please 500 AP. So if it was in the game from the beginning if you got 50/50 you would start the game with 500 AP. ANet is genius really.
Agreed.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Yeah, timing wasn’t great in terms of celestial, but the decision to remove MF from gear was great. With any significant change there will be a few bumps in the transition. It will be worth the bumps.
Agreed 100%
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
They’ll probably just remove it(the mf from celestial gear), or replace it with something else, etc

If magic find is being removed as a weapon / armor stat some time in the future, why did we just get a ton of recipes that revolved around hybrid and magic find stats? The Celestial stuff all has magic find on them.. And I paid a good amount of money for the recipes.
What is going to be done with this armor set once magic find goes to an account-wide stat?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I’m someone who has invested so much to get full magic find gear and with buffs/food/gear i have 300% magic find. I choose magic find because I only do wvw and magic find build really makes sense. I find it HARD TO BELIEVE that any system they come out with will satisfy me when I’m accustom to a certain amount of magic find. Lets face it, the magic find will be no where near the magic find cap someone can get which was 327% before achievement buffs. It’s just another example how the vocal minority gets what they want and the quiet majority will have to adapt to this.
Like I said. You’re getting free magic find by not needing to sacrifice actual stats on gear. People will complain about anything. This change is a ways off. You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy your magic find set before it’s gone forever. But when it’s gone, I’m sure you’ll adapt.
sure it might be free but they never said anything about it being significant
Magic find was never significant… 100% magic find is an increase from 0.0001% to 0.0002% (made up numbers) at the chance of finding a precursor from a drop. Magic find is useless and I’m surprised they’re not just straight up removing it. Be glad they’re allowing it to remain as a permanent account bonus instead of just cutting it entirely.
inb4 I get flamed for my opinion.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Chaos Gloves.. Yes. I would farm so hard for those. And I don’t farm. Really though if they added GW1 skins as legendary armor I’d be all over that without a doubt,
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
sigh time to get a second mortgage….
Not sure this has to do with anything presented in the thread but I’m sorry for your troubles I guess.
Uhh I think he meant that as joke, meaning that he’s going to become broke trying to craft a Legendary because of this new change it’s going to get.
Lol I figured it was some sort of joke, just not 100% as to what o.0
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
People seem confused about the MF changes… lets set some facts straight.
1. MF is not being nerfed or removed. The blog clearly states that MF is going to become an account stat and no longer a gear stat. It is never stated, mentioned, or implied that MF is being removed or nerfed.
2. MF gear is not becoming worthless and a waste of money/laurels/comms/etc. Again as is clearly stated in the blog, all current gear will be converted to compensation to give you an equivalent amount of account MF. They are already planning on refunding you in this way. The exact method and amount is not known and likely won’t be known until implementation.
3. Consumables are not temporary. These are not food buff consumables, they are like SP’s or an xp bar. You will need to consume a certain number of them to obtain the next “rank” of MF, and each subsequent one will require more of these consumables to reach a higher rank. Again refer to the blog, there is no mention anywhere of a temporary buff, all permanent.
4. MF food and boosters are remaining in game, these will not become useless.
Please keep to these known facts when making posts. Childish whining about things that have already been addressed just makes you look silly.
Unless anet states that it’s permanent MF increase, assume otherwise. Anet doesn’t have public trust, I’m sorry to say that. I still remember how they claim they are not against farmers while nerfing everything in CS.
You didn’t even read the blog did you?
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
The entire thing sounds like puke. Salvaging fine/masterwork to keep account MF artificially high with consumables?
That is one of the worst and most awful thing I ever heard so far out of all patches. I already spent 24 commendations and 80 laurels to get a full MF set, along with freshly crafted celestial gear, and this took months of effort to get where I am now. I have been trying every day with this gear and probably 1000 + mobs with a near 200-250% mf with 0 exotic drops so far. This account MF is making me bang my head, because Anet’s going to probably let users either hit a very low MF threshold, or users have to salvage a TON of stuff to keep it at 200-250 % mf, which could have gone into vendoring to get money, however poor the money is.
So either way, I can’t get exotic drops, or I have to spend another ton of effort into getting high MF with no exotics in sight. I am sick.
PS: I read the post as consumables = non-permanent, just like eating a food that gives 30% mf for 30 minutes.
Exactly. It’s a gimmick stat that shouldn’t have been in the game in the first place. At least now when you farm and get 0 exotics every 1000+ mobs, you won’t need to be upset that you have an entire armor set dedicated to crappy magic find.
And no, your PS is wrong. The consumables will increase your magic find. Think of it as an experience bar or something. You eventually “level up” the magic find over time.
Are you anet’s dev? Have you already seen the system that it shows EXP gain through consuming salvages’ stuff? The rich dragon coffers are a prime example of anet does, explaining nothing in detail, until you find out jade ticket drops are 1% (from users’ statistics), should this mean that your MF gain, if they use this particular system be as RNG as everything in the game?
Gimmick or not, unless Anet’s planning to refund all the guild commendations/laurels, the new incoming system is stepping on a lot of toes.
I am a developer – but not for ArenaNet. ArenaNet did say that before this system is place they will figure out a way to compensate the players who invested in magic find gear. Though no matter what they do you can imagine people will complain about it.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Armor and other weapons will still need to be transmuted as normal.
yes, at the moment.
though i am confident that, in the future, there will be legendary armor, trinkets that will allow us to change stats.
There may be, yes. In which case I Imagine they’ll do the same thing
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Any chance of this getting updated graphical effects? I for one am kind of bummed that the hellfire gloves overshadow the HoM ones visually.
A lot of the HoM skins are like that. I am all for updated models and effects for some of the HoM rewards.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
Unfortunately I don’t think you’ll be able to. I think that only vanilla legendaries that haven’t been transmuted will be able to change since technically a transmuted legendary is not that weapon anymore – it’s just been turned into the appearance of it.

Legendary weapons will be able to swapped out for different stats – as they should. I don’t have a legendary but those who do I’m sure may not always want toughness, vit, and power.
Armor and other weapons will still need to be transmuted as normal.

I am a huge fan of this change. I don’t have a legendary and I’m not particularly close to getting one, but the fact that they listened to people and no longer require transmuting on them is a great step. I’m so happy to see this new change.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You have to repair(& pay for it) your armor in PvP? Wow! Guess I won’t be doing any PvP in GW2 then. :\ I was looking forward to playing some WvW, particulary with my friends, but if I’m going to have to repair my armor & pay for those repairs I won’t play it.
No. PvP in heart of the mists doesn’t require repairs for deaths, just WvW which isn’t even PvP. WvW is “Follow the blue icon and zerg around the map” – not PvP. PvP takes skill.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
You’ll never get those people who are complete carebears to play WvW.
Stopped reading there. People that don’t play WvW are carebears, huh? Makes sense to me. So people who play games differently than you are less because you say so. Yeah I have no reason to finish reading your post as I’m sure the rest of it is just as ignorant and immature as the start of it.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
6% GF account bonus + 20% GF gilded infuison + 30% GF laurel boost + 40% GF omnom + 5% GF guild bonus + 15% GF banner (both 5% n 10% banner) + max 15% GF world bonus = total +131% GF
Grats so next time a mob drops 30c you will get just a little bit over 60c instead.
Again I don’t feel like this stat has any affect on gear – being that there’s no gear with “gold find” as a stat. I think this will remain untouched.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
This is true, Lambent, but they said you’d be able to increase it frequently for increased costs to increase it. They looked at the long term and found a way to over time increase it. This is better than sacrificing stats on gear for more magic find. Not to mention the bonuses will be account-wide.
Account-wide, increasable magic find on all characters > having a magic find set on a single character.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I’ve gotten quite used to getting these chests everyday. I’m not sure what I’m going to do when my chest fix runs out. :o
Same haha I’ve grown to love them! 7,000 achievement point chest is only 4 days away =( gonna miss em every day!
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I bet at first we’ll see new elite and utility skills before anything but in the livestream he did say they’re adding new weapons down the road.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
And even the Experience Scroll I was all O.O
You can also get XP from this chest? oO
It’s an experience scroll that will instantly put any character under level 20 to level 20.
What if I want to turn a lv 80 character to lv 20…
By using my expertise in common sense, I am going to say that this is likely not possible.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
So this is kind of related… I started playing Guild Wars 1 about a week or two ago and am really having a great time. I’m about halfway through the Nightfall campaign.
Anyone care to join me and we can play through all the campaigns?
My elementalist’s name is Fir Startur. That’s a hillbilly way of saying Fire Starter in case anyone was wondering.
Feel free to add me in game in GW1. My name is Im Teh Pwnzor I love going back to GW1 if you need any help and I’m on let me know. Also if you’d like to PM me in GW2 if I’m online I may not be busy and may wanna jump on to GW1 so feel free to hit me up any time. I’m always down to play it – such a great game.
twitch.tv/mdogg2005
I don’t think gold find exists on a stat on any gear the way mf does..so it’s not really the same. Also I don’t know that it’s even possible to get 200% gold find without the southsun boost
This.
Also you do realize that like 100% gold find on a 24c drop just raises you to 48c right? Gold find is about the most usekitten nus you could possibly have. I think gold find will remain a passive account boost (as we already have as bonuses through the achievement rewards).

(edited by TehPwnerer.7215)
I’d like to hear more about Anet’s reasoning to removing MF from the game. I’ve played quite a few games with a similar stat, and like it. Yes, it is a trade-off to sacrifice other attributes in place of getting better loot, but it makes the game more challenging. I may be more squishy and do less damage, but I get better loot and it requires more skill on my part. I am also not sure how this will affect the economy long term. I suspect it will help to even out the wealth distribution slightly, but I would be surprised if this is anything more than minor.
They say very clearly in the blog post why they wanted to remove it. It’s not what GW2 is about. It’s an unnecessary trade-off. You’re still going to have magic find but it’ll just be account-wide and you won’t need to give up stats on your gear for it. How is that a problem?
It’s not quite that simple though. There are experienced players who want to make the game slightly harder. In exchange they naturally want more loot than those playing the easy mode. Magic Find was fairly useful for this.
So run with less armor or run with blues. Having a magic find stat doesn’t make the game harder lol You’ll still have the same magic find % just on your entire account rather than on that specific armor set…

I agree to some extent, however I think it’s inconsiderate of someone to join a group for Arah Explorable and they show up with a set of rare magic find gear, magic find sigils, and magic find food – rather than at least trying to be helpful.
But that’s not everyone..and that’s not everyone with mf armor. Some people are ALWAYS going to be inconsiderate regardless of the circumstances..So why are we taking away something from everyone? This is the kind of logic in a kindergarten classroom, one kid colors on the walls so nobody’s allowed to have crayons?
What? Did we read the same blog? How is anything being taken away from you? You’re getting free magic find as an account bonus, how is that better than sacrificing stats on gear?
Some people will complain about anything facepalm…

What I’d ‘really’ like is proper way for me to change the ‘look’ of whatever armor I end up wearing ‘on the fly’, and I’m sad to not see anything about that in the long blog post.
They’re called Transmutation Crystals.
