How is increasing achievement points for HoM shunning existing players? I’ve played GW2 since closed beta, GW1 since launch day. I in no way feel shunned by other players having more achievement points than I do (7k by the way).

I’m not sure what the problem is. It’s an achievement category in GW2. Just because you didn’t play GW1 doesn’t mean the HoM category in the GW2 achievement list suddenly doesn’t exist.

If you want the achievements that bad, buy the game and spend a couple thousand hours getting the 50/50..

A VERY SMALL percentage of all GW1 players actually went all the way to 50/50… Most didn’t even make it to 30, let alone 50. Stop complaining.

I agree Zero – they need to take down the leaderboards. The leaderboards achieve nothing and cause nothing but whining when certain people get stuff that others didn’t earn.

You did not play GW2 hard enough to deserve 500 point boosts on the board out of nowhere. Ppl who did play for the ranking got screwed and it is simply unfair to base any competition score on some past games.

There is nothing you can do currently in GW2 that demands the same work, time, effort, or money that GW1 HoM 50/50 took. It took people thousands of hours over several years to get 50/50.

Work hard and earn your super leet spot on the achievement leaderboard since it’s that important to you – but don’t try to take rewards from other people who worked kitten other stuff that Anet decides to reward from their loyalty..

To those claiming that the skins are good enough: they aren’t. There is no prestige involved in the skins (except for 25-30 which were actually hard to obtain) which anyone could have gotten 5 months into the game. The time it took to invest 50/50 was immensely satisfying, yet you see another Champion Of The Gods title nearly everywhere you go. I feel that this minor boost (yes, minor) gives some leeway to those of us who dedicated our time to the original game. When I logged in after the patch, I found myself caught up to my friends who had only finished more dailies and nothing else than I (now we’re all around 7000 AP).

I hope they don’t revert this. I really do.

They won’t revert it. It’s been boosted to reward GW1 player loyalty. Just because the achievement leaderboard hunters are whining doesn’t mean that they are going to remove the boost to people who put 1000s of hours into GW1.

Not sure there’s much of an interest in GW2 on Twitch.tv. Most of it is League of Legends or Starcraft 2. It’d definitely be a lot of work getting a stream going.

Not to mention, HOM points weren’t the only things that got a boost. But hey, HoM can’t be done in GW2 so target them as the cause of being bumped down.

I’m also not sure how a measly 500 point ACHIEVEMENT POINT (NOTICE I SAID THE WORDS – ACHIEVEMENT POINTS – NOTHING SIGNIFICANT TO GAMEPLAY OR PLAYER ABILITY) boost is considered arrogant. The work the players put into GW1 to achieve 50/50 (to get 500 points) took THOUSANDS of hours!

Guild Wars 1 was much harder than GW2. Demanded so much more time and effort (and money) to get anything remarkable done. You should stop being jealous of them and either do it yourself or move on.

Achievement points are infinite. If you want to be #1 on the leaderboards for achievement points, then you should work towards it. The HoM (AKA – Loyal Anet and GW players) got a 500 point boost.. Big deal. If you’re that dedicated to be higher on the leaderboard just work harder – it still won’t be anywhere as hard as GW1 players worked to earn 50/50 or GWAMM.

And another thing; GW2 achievement points are infinite. It’s not a finite number that players can reach. Then those players with the GW1 achievements will get an extra 500 to make their point total unreachable. It is reachable. Get over it.

The way I see it, it’s a good boost to rewarding player loyalty. I went through the hell that HoM is – I’ve earned anything they throw on as a tacked reward for HoM. I was fine with it before, I’m fine with it now.

All of a sudden, watch the Achievement Leaderboards be removed. Suddenly player loyalty isn’t an issue because it won’t affect the “super uber 1337 achievement hunt3rz”.

These “issues” are only being brought up because someone else got rewarded for something that they worked kitten, that the players who didn’t earn didn’t get.

These two threads (yeah, only two) are nothing more than entitled children stomping around that they didn’t get a cherry flavored lollypop.

Wrong my friend, sorry but you are wrong. You dedicated those many hours to a different game, and when the Eye of the North was released, many of those categories were already filled out for you. We all paid our money for that old game, yet not all of us spent so long on it. That’s all.

Changing this bad move would do what? It would return things to how they were just a couple of days ago, as though there had been a glitch or a mistake.

We have spent the past 10 or so months with the Achievement Points for HoM as they used to be, and now you expect us to think that after a day of experiencing elevated ranking for something they did not do in this game, they will be more upset than those who have just been kicked in the teeth? I think not…

As I posted in another thread. What does being any spot on an ACHIEVEMENT leaderboard do for you? Nothing. People weren’t complaining when HoM gave 20 points (or 50 or whatever) but now all of a sudden they’re worth more and NOW you complain?

They’re achievements. The people who got them have more than earned them.

It’s achievement points. Not anything special or skill wise. It is just a way to flaunt your ability to grind and wave your digital manhood in other people’s faces for having more points than they do.

And with all the complaints about the Hall of Monuments giving an extra 500 points, it should just be removed. I love how no one was complaining when they only gave 50 points, yet once it hit 500, everyone threw a fit.

Think of it like this. Even if you had 10,000 Achievement points, the person who played GW1 would of had 10,050 Achievement points. But it wasn’t a big deal was it? No one complained at all. But now that it is awarding 500 points, everyone is making it a big deal. Doesn’t make any sense to me and is rather ridiculous to complain about it now.

I didn’t even know there was one until I saw the number of people whining about them today. I don’t think there should be one in the first place, so yes I would love to see it removed so people stopped complaining about it so much.

The amount of time to get 30/50 or 50/50 + GWAMM would make the work it takes to get a legendary in GW2 look like a children’s tea party.

The people in my guild were ecstatic to see the GW1 vets get a substantial boost to points by playing the first game – even if they hadn’t. As someone who DID play GW1, I can say I am happy with the change,

Also consider that if they do go back on it, there’d be even more community outcry than there is now. “Other people have nice things! RABBLE RABBLE THAT’S NOT FAIR TO ME” threads would turn into “Anet WHY YOU HATE GW1 VETS WE SUPPORTED YOU RABBLE RABBLE” ones.

The people who supported Guild Wars getting a sequel and supported ArenaNet previously got a little reward for their time and effort. Hey, go pick up GW1 if you want the 500 extra points. I’d love to see more players in that game anyway.

I don’t know much about writing and editing code, but these types of things do happen accidentally. Anet was mucking around with the achievement panel’s code, maybe someone edited a value that they shouldn’t have.

I am actually a game programmer. Generally if something is accidentally bumped up by that much, it gets fixed within hours. Considering they’ve done hot fixes and other builds since the patch, I am assuming they did this to reward loyal players.

Yes it could be accidental, but that to me seems very unlikely. People in my guild were excited to see us rewarded for our GW1 efforts – which, again, make GW2 legendary acquisition look like a child’s tea party.

Difference is those AP’s were received in Guild Wars 2, you know the game were playing not in a different game you have to pay for. Guild Wars 2 AP Highscores should in no way be influenced by anything other then achievements received within Guild Wars 2.

Hall of Monuments players already earn unique titles, skins and if your a ranger pets which is enough.

You keep saying “which is enough”… GW1 HoM achievements make farming for a legendary in this game look like a cake walk. It took me upwards of a couple years to earn 50/50 and I still don’t have GWAMM yet (a few titles away – just finished another the other night).

Just because you didn’t do something doesn’t mean it’s not worth what the Devs made it with simply because you didn’t get it.

I agree. Not much else I can do though besides that. Hopefully they change this for future unique items like that.

Apparently they’re all in the list, just not all shown in that tiny window. Every chance you get to unlock a Zenith weapon you will have the ability to unlock any skin – not just the ones shown.

In fact, there are 5 weapons – 3 on the left, 2 on the right. Under the right ones, there is a “. . .” that shows that there are more than just those few shown.

As someone who did not play GW1, this knocked me from position ~75-85 to 130+.

I don’t mind.

In fact, I thought a lot of these achievements were undervalued. I only hope that ANet also adjusts the AP for other comparably worthwhile achievements accordingly, most notably the WvW lines and certain PvE ones that may take a long time to obtain, such as Legendary Collector.

I really enjoy the concept of a legacy, and really thought only select few components were worthwhile from GW1 (Fiery Dragon Sword, GWAMM title). This at least sweetens the pot a little.

The rest of you that are in my position, take a step back and look at the big picture.
Every 2 weeks it seems, there’s a new series of meta achievements worth ~200 AP. Dailies contribute a potential 15 AP/day, and there are ever more achievements added to the game. If you don’t go for the argument that a legacy from GW1 is worth between 50-500 AP, then at least know that this will eventually become just a blip.

I agree with your entire post. I am a person who has 50/50 and let me tell you.. the time, effort, and in game money that it takes to achieve 50/50 is enough to make someone go insane.

My guess is that more will be revamped and award more in the future (such as legendaries awarding more than 5 achievement points). But as far as HoM goes, I am almost positive it was intended and will likely stay.

HoM not only rewards veteran players with some extra goodies (and now an appropriate achievement point reward) but they also encourage new players to jump into GW1 every now and then to get those achievements if they desire them.

Hit H, check your 3000 point achievement chest. You can choose between the gloves for each set. That’s where my question stemmed from. I like both sets, I’d love to not have to choose, but if I must then I must.

I really like the idea of this zone staying after the event. The fact that we can take materials we’ve amassed hundreds of and spend them on new recipes, materials, and the like is a great idea.

Does anyone know if this zone will stay after the ship leaves it or whatever? I’d hate to see this zone go away – if even just a merchant hub.

Or can we eventually get both full sets?

Agreed. I HATE RNG boxes in games, and I feel that the Dragon Bash did a great thing in the right direction towards achieving a great balance of luck / money / etc etc chances of getting a ticket.

However, as good as that system was, you could still be severely unlucky and buy 1000s upon 1000s of boxes and not get anything. This time, you buy, buy, buy, farm, farm, farm, you will EVENTUALLY get what you want – regardless if you get lucky or not.

I like that. Keep up the great work ArenaNet, you’re learning – and taking customer feedback is very important and you seem to be doing it right. <3

You sure are impatient. You will get 1 chest per day until the rewards match up with the amount of achievement points you have.

Don’t feel cheated either, because until today you didn’t have ANY rewards for achievement points. Learn to be patient. You will have your rewards all maxed out and caught up to your 9000 points in a few weeks.

I’ve read the patch notes but I still can’t find any of these kite fortunes. I’ve seen them in the gem store but apparently there’s a way to farm them in-game and also have them as drops?

How rare are the drops? Where’s the best place to get them? DO they even drop off mobs?

Any advice or help would be great. I want one of those backpieces but will probably not buy any of the fortunes from the gem store.

That would be nice. In GW1 there was an NPC that would be able to “sell you” back all festive hats and armor sets. That’d be nice to see him ( or her ) return.

Edit: turns out, as I read through the entirety of your post, you had already linked those same NPCs that I had mentioned. I agree with your post still, obviously.

I saw people linking these in map chat. Rumor has it they are NOT and will not be available for players. I’m guessing this is correct since there’s not a whole set of them – and rather they’re just for the hostile mobs. Can anyone confirm this or say more about these?

Also off topic, are the merchants for the dragon jade weapons permanent or will they be leaving tomorrow?

Too bad I have a conscience and hate to see other players get ripped off. I put in a ticket for their sake, the rest is up to them. I have reported him but I will not block him to ensure if I see him spamming map chat about selling his boosters I can warn people.

More temporary content with achievement rewards. Considering earning achievement points is an endless endeavor I’m not overly excited about this patch.

There is no ingame option to report scamming. Create a support ticket with the screenshots, name of player and server and approx time and they’ll deal with him.

There is a scamming option, but their in-game report system needs tweaking to allow more options, a description box, or both.
